The sound of clattering kitchenware and the voices of people traveling through groups echoed throughout the Inn. The scent of freshly prepared food wafted through the rooms like a seductress upon her lover. The lone wolf bolted up once that smell assaulted her nasal cavities, she took inhaled the saccharine aroma of vittles to her heart's content. Her stomach let out a loud growl, the beast was ready to feast. Aurora quickly donned her cloth armor and her crossbow an bolts then glided down the flight of stairs to the foyer to see what the commotion was about. The town's guardsmen came in droves and occupied every seat possible, except for the one at the bar in front of the Innkeeper. "Hey Donna, what's all the hubbub about?" The motherly proprietress looked back at the wolf, "It's nothing, they just come in whenever they get the a day off like this." The wolf girl was slightly taken aback, she didn't think the Captain was so lenient on his troops, though it does makes sense to raise morale as such.
"So, think any of them would be hurt if I took a bit of it?" Aurora asked with a cocky grin, already knowing the answer. Donna looked back and tossed the player a plate, letting out a laugh, "Here you go, on the house." Aurora looked down at the plate with gleaming eyes while her mouth was salivating, "Thanks Donna, you treat me so well." Donna went back to filling the orders of the other guardsmen as the little wolf started to chow down on her food. As she was hewing on her food, a familiar face came up and sat next to her after asking the previous person to switch. It was Frank one of the guards who was infamous for traveling with a pack of boars from time to time, while traveling was a nice way of saying it, chased was the proper word for it.
"Hey, Frank. How's it going?" she asked, swallowing the mass of chewed food in the process. "Pretty good , Pup. Thanks again for the other day, it was a huge help," he said as he bashfully scratched his head. That was a day indeed, she never expected to see one of the guards to get chased around by a pack of swine. It raised the quest if the anyone can be one of the guards or if there's even a protocol at all. "Oh, it was no problem. I couldn't just sit back and watch, no matter how funny it was," she chuckled. "Whatever, look I know the Captain would never say this aloud, but he's grateful for the help you lot give. If he seems snarky, forgive him," he sighed as he sipped on his cup.
"It's no problem, I mean if we're going to be living in cohabitation, we all got to do our part," she played with her utensils as if they were weapons appropriate for her class. Rather than that, it was actually kind of fun to actually run around with the other players and fight the rambunctious creatures day to day. Frank looked over with a calm smile, "Again, thank you." The wolf girl answered back with a beaming smile with a mouth full of food. Speaking of which, she wondered what she was going to do today. As much as she liked to just shoot the breeze with familiar faces, she had to make a leaving somehow. An abrupt crash came through the door of a somewhat haggard old man. "Can someone help me? Rabbits have overtaken the road."
Speak of the devil and he shall appear as they say, looks like she found her job for the day. Frank hopped up, "Alright, men. Let's get ready to move out." Groans and displease moans filled the room, the men had gotten complacent. Couldn't exactly blame them since it was their day off, anyone would. Aurora stood on top of her stool and patted him on the shoulder, "It's okay, Frank. It's your guys' day off, I'll take care of it. You're welcome to come with though, and bring a friend as well. Thanks for the grub, Donna." Frank didn't know what to say, he just smiled and walked out with the young girl. "Oh and send the Captain my regards when we're done with this," she said looking back. She followed the old man out the door and to the site of the rabid rabbit attack.
When they got to the site, it was actually overrun with cute little cuddly creatures, five to be exact. Aurora rolled her arms in tiny circles and did some simple stretches before picking up one little sizable pebble, "You two just sit back and let me handle this." She tossed it for a bit to gauge it's weight and focused her golden orbs on one of the rodents in the bunch. Wolf ears and tail appeared from her body as a small zephyr danced in her pink tendrils. She took a stance, focusing her eyes solely on the one rabbit from before. She flipped on her Tongue of Nature, hoping it'd come in handy. With a flick of the wrist, she cast the rock at the rabbit's head using her natural precision granted from her class. The little pebbled rolled perfectly off her finger and flew with such ferocity that you'd think it was another creature itself.
The hit its' target with a thunk, the other rabbits gathered around their unconscious friend unknowing of what happened. The wolf girl licked her lips and dug her feet into the ground then dashed off as fast as her body could manage. As soon as the other rabbits heard her, a few of the rodents abandoned their friend while others seemed reluctant to do so. The other rabbit slowly got up and rubbed its' paw against its' head, "Ugh, what happened?" It looked around and saw that its' friend had already left it, it saw one lone rabbit shivering in shrubbery ahead of it. "Run," it yelled out to the abandoned thumper. Even with the warning, it was too late. The lone wolf arrived behind it, her slitted eyes looking down on the prey. "Guess my hearing must be exceptionally well to pick up on your voice from that far away," a devil-like grin ran across her face as the rabbit turned to look at her.
The rabbit's body shivered as it looked up the girl, it was too scared to remotely run for its' life. Poor thing. She didn't need a second thought before pulling back her arm like the hammer of a gun and slamming it down on the rodent's now slack body. She flexed her fingers after the deed was done, popping her joints in the process. One down, four to go. Her ears picked up on rustling from the bushes, "Oh my. Oh my. Oh my. I can't believe I just left Jacob like that, I should have been in his place." Aurora slowly marched over in the direction of the apologetic rabbit. "I don't want it end like this," it screamed out as it took off in a full sprint.
The little girl looked at her next prey as it took off running for its' dear life, this was going to be fun. She quickly withdrew her cross and locked a bolt into the holding then took aim at the rabbit's rear. She yanked on the trigger and with trained accuracy, the bolt flew at an incredible speed. The rabbit yelped as it got tagged and rolled over to a stop, Aurora ran up to the rodent. "Please, please, don't do this. I'll just leave, that's the problem, right?" the darling pleaded for its' life, sadly she couldn't grant his wish. She took out another bolt with a twirl and sunk it into the rabbit's body, ending its' misery. Two down, three to go.
As much as she loved playing the Hunter, she needed to hurry this up or this was going to take all day to get done. She glanced about, trying to where the other three rabbits had skedaddled off too. She walked around focusing on her hearing rather than anything else to give her some type of sign. "Please don't let her find me, please don't let her find me." Her ears perked up twitched when it picked up one of the coney's voices, she dug her foot into ground again. "Accel Dance," she called out one of her skills before dashing towards the source of the voice she heard at an incredible speed. There was only one hiding spot available, a rather stone that was embedded in the mother, she focused her ears again as she ran. Faint whimpering and pleading coming from behind the rock, she bound for the boulder then flipped over it only to find two fairly large rabbits. They seemed to be the mother and father of this bunch.
They backed up against the rock, unsure of where they could run at any given moment. The male spewed curses while the female cowered in a ball. Unable to take it anymore, the male bared its' fang and leapt at Aurora. The girl guarded with her clothed arm, even though it was armor, it didn't do much as far as protecting went. The rabbit's teeth sank into her flesh, constantly gnawing away at her arm. She took a minute to relish in the pain, this world was actually real. It's just always something that's been eating away at the back of her mind this entire time and she was glad to finally get it over with.
She flexed her arm then slammed the rabbit against rock twice, the male rodent fell off her arm and hit the ground with a thud. The female looked upon her mate's fallen body and began crying in...whatever language the hare race cried in. Aurora took out her crossbow again then reloaded a bolt, she took careful aim at the weeping widow and pulled the trigger. Silence filled the air as the wolf looked at her arm then to her health, it seemed like the male bunny left a pretty decent sized mark on her. "90%, huh?" she said with a sigh, she was going have to learn not to corner these things one day. With that said, there was only one left out of the five that was hiding somewhere.
The glowing star was beginning to set, it was going to get tougher to find the last rabbit if it got any later than this. She rushed around using her Accel Dance to search for the last of her prey, but it seemed to have disappeared. She looked around and noticed she was surrounded by several bushes, she clicked her teeth together as she bent down to pick up as many rocks as there were bushes. With another flick of the wrist, she shot the rocks in different directions one by one until the rabbit darted out. Not even hesitating, she gave chase to the fleeing beast. It was fast, but Aurora could easily keep up with it. She look ahead to see that it was heading for a dead-end, it was purposely leading itself so that it would fight.
This must what a beast looks like when it's faced with a stronger adversary, it was fight or flight and it chose to fight. Aurora could admire that mentality at least, it'd rather go down with its' pride rather than running with its' tail between its' legs. "Y-you monster, I'm going to make you pay for what you've done," her ears picked up on the hare's lamentations. She could only imagine the pain it was going through after knowing it's family was all taken down by her.
As soon as the rabbit reached the dead end, it quickly turned around and leapt at her with fangs bared. The wolf girl withdrew a bolt from her pouch, not bothering to load it into her weapon. As they neared each other, Aurora held the bolt at her side then at the last second spun and she leapt at the rabbit. The held bolt moved around the outside of her body until it struck into the rabbit's belly. The girl collapsed to the ground as her Accel Dance ended, her body had become somewhat heavy like it was being weighed down with lead.
"Damn," she slowly rose to her feet and then looked to the sky, it was still light out. She had taken out all five of the creatures that plagued the farmer, today has been a melodramatic and somewhat dark day. She hurried as fast as she could manage to gather the bodies of the five rabbits, not wanting to split up the family anymore more than she had to. She went to go meet the two guardsmen and showed off the five bodies she had gathered from today and with his thanks, she left to return back to the Inn to rest her tired mind and body.
"So, think any of them would be hurt if I took a bit of it?" Aurora asked with a cocky grin, already knowing the answer. Donna looked back and tossed the player a plate, letting out a laugh, "Here you go, on the house."
