| but somewhere here in between these city walls | "Whoowhee. Nothin' beats a day a hard work like a fresh glass a cold lemonade."
Dagger relaxed in a chair just outside a smaller tavern. He was dressed in a basic shirt and pants, just passable as clothing really. It was obvious he either didn't care about his appearance, or had yet to actually buy something he could wear besides starter gear. He drank from the glass of lemonade as a Lander waiter came out, placing a pair of sandwiches next to him. Dagger quickly sat up, licking his lips as he thanked the man. He hadn't actually had a chance to eat today and his stomach was about to eat its way out to find some grub.
"A'right, I lied. A good bite a grub can beat a glass a lemonade."
He chuckled at himself before he dug in, enjoying the actual taste of the bacon and lettuce. His mind went numb from the first actual piece of bacon he had eaten since he got into this world. Mr. Monty didn't really believe in good food, and ate nothing but this... nutritional mush? Dagger shuddered at the thought of what he had eaten before, instead relishing the food in his hands. Heck, he'd have to order a whole plate of bacon now, and so he did, calling the order out from where he sat.
"S'cuse me Sir, mind iff'n I get an order of bacon? Just a whole plate a the stuff. Yup, I got the gold. Oh! And another glass a this here Lemonade, stuff's down right delicious. Thank ya kindly!"
Dagger was beaming from ear to ear, he couldn't wait to dig in to his newest order as he savored his current sandwich. | of dying dreams |

| “My feet feel like balloons. Big, hot air balloons.” Lerical sighed as she scratched at the side of her head to fix a piece of hair that had been pulled back too tight into the blue side-tail. She earned a sympathetic, confused look from one of the Landers behind the counter that passed her order to her over the counter. A bowl of cool potato-leek soup and a water. The woman's head tilted towards the front as she recieved it, “The weather’s nice, so I’ll just enjoy it outside.”
“Could’a taken your order out there if you were going to do that,” he told her gruffly, and shook his head as she just shrugged her shoulders and picked up her dish and glass, one in each hand.
“I enjoy seeing how everyone’s doing now and then.” Lerical left the counter on that note, the yell of another order that called for a plate of bacon that made the doctor instinct twitch. All that salt, just the thought made her cringe internally. She continued to the door, and stepped out into the sunshine to find her a place a sit down.
Her foot hooked around the leg of an empty chair and she pulled on it, fixing it in a direction so her face wouldn’t be in the sun as she enjoyed her meal. Lerical looked toward the other that was seated outside as he munched away on a sandwich with such vigor that put a small smile on her face behind her glass. For a moment, she considered just eating her meal in silence and observing the passing people, but she lifted one hand to wave at him briefly, if he saw it or not, and greeted him.
“Hello.”

Jade tied Arcadia up at the post and jumped off, and pressed the menu buttons to switch her equipment and she smiled as the armor vanished to show just her yellow and black dress and her wings and headband. It was nice to be out of the armor. She had spotted Daggerfel and couldn’t help but smile. She remembered him from earlier, his accent came to mind. Jade went and ordered some food, she ordered some tea and whatever their special was for the day, which was some sort of soup, she nodded and then told them she would be outside. She was going to see if perhaps she could sit with Daggerfel, after all she would like to get to know him better.
The place was a good place to put your feet up and get something to eat so it was no surprise Jade ran into others here. She smiled and waved at some landers she had met over her time in the city. After all she valued their help when things were hardest in her life here. It was them that had helped her take care of some of the adventurers who were just kids who had sadly been caught in the disaster that was them showing up in this world. Many didn’t realize there were younger kids, as your avatar sort of hid that fact on a visual level but still many had been stuck with not much in the way of taking care of themselves.
Jade still hoped her family didn’t miss her too much and that they had moved on. She loved them dearly and hoped all of them especially Katie came to terms with her vanishing. Hopefully her parents or her younger brother took over her job as the main caretaker of everything. She forced those thoughts out of her head and opened the door with a smile. It was such a nice day after all.
Jade popped over to him and hadn’t noticed the woman waving at him. “Can I join you? “ She asked, figuring it was better to eat with a friend than alone. Plus she needed a rest from her day. She had liked him, he was kind and seemed to possess manners. Jade would only sit if Daggerfel let her, she didn’t want to intrude after all. She hoped he would say yes, it was always so much better to have company for a meal. She was also glad to have a seat that wasn’t her saddle, she had found that it too some getting used to, riding all the time that is.
It was good that she was making new friends though, with her old ones going their separate ways. She looked to make sure Arcadia hadn’t found a way to escape and once she was sure he was content there she would be at much more of an ease. She after all didn’t want to have to apologize for whatever trouble she was sure her horse could get into. She wondered who the cute girl nearing the table was, she shrugged and smiled at Daggerfel.

The quiet rumbling of hunger pierced Ivan’s entire body. He lurched forward, his hands wrapping around his stomach as his lips quivered and his mouth attempted to salivate. It had been almost a day or so since he ate or drank, again, and his stomach was starting to beg for something, anything, to digest. It didn’t help that he was lost again either. Ivan had wandered away from the familiar area of Londinium that he was starting to memorize and was barely able to find the alley he was sitting in. He had done so simply by following a couple as they chose to slip away from the noise. Though, now he sort of wished he had never stopped. Once he lost the couple, Ivan found his mind in limbo again. He squeezed his eyes closed and took in a slow and deep breath. As he inhaled, he mimicked a swallowing motion. This forced the air down into his stomach and filled the empty space with an even emptier substance, but it stopped the growling for few moments. In that time, Ivan eased his breathing and opened his other senses.
A few paces to his right was the street, people actively walked in both directions. Conversation lingered and there were various levels of emotion in all of them, but Ivan excluded those. He searched for something else; names. Ivan listened for the names of buildings around him which people called out in their conversations and listened for some sort of marker of where he was. He listened for bells on doors to see which ones were accessible, and sniffed lightly at the air to try and catch the scent of food. It was a bit busier in this section of the city so it was hard to hone in on anything because of the mess of noise in the air, but Ivan was patient. Ivan heard women talk about their lovers or crushes, heard men talk about their hunts, and smelled various perfumes and even the scent of a blacksmith’s furnace. But nothing was worth noting. As time went on, Ivan slowly became more and more discouraged. This place probably was just a housing district, rather than a market district. If that was the case then he was going to have to wait until dark.
Ivan’s eyes watered as he looked at the clock on his display. Dark was still a good time off and his stomach was starting to rumble louder, sending out pain signals along with the noise. His air tactic never lasted for longer than a few minutes and each time he did it, the little technique made things worse than before. He couldn’t wait until dark. If he did, Ivan would definitely pass out. That’s when he decided that he would rather stumble along than just sit around like a victim. Sure, he would have trouble but the man from before didn’t seem to let anything bother him, so why should Ivan?
“Up… Up… Up…” Ivan whimpered as he slowly leaned forward onto his hands, placing them onto the rough stone ground to support himself as he rolled over onto all four limbs. Once he was steady, Ivan used the wall of the building and slowly walked his hands up it, bringing the rest of his body with it. It took him a bit to get his feet beneath him and even longer to get himself steady, but once he was set, he started to walk. Using the wall as a guide, Ivan made his way through the alleyway and put his back to the busy street. The building he had his hands on ended but Ivan kept walking a little further. He had learned that there was usually a splitting alley between two back-to-back buildings so he never stopped after the first anymore. After a few wavering paces, Ivan’s hands finally brushed against stone again. He sighed of relief and kept moving until finally, he heard voices again. Ivan smiled softly to himself as he crossed one hand over the other; he was learning.
Once the building ended, Ivan stopped. He felt the outside pathway with his right foot and checked for a step. Finding none, he pulled his foot back and stood there for a few moments again. Just as he did before, Ivan listened to the people walking and to the area around him. As he did so, he sniffed lightly at the air for the smell of food. To his joy, the wind fluttered by and carried with it something delicious; the sweet smell of bacon. Ivan’s head instantly snapped in the direction of the breeze and he stared towards the sound of conversation. It wasn’t far off, but it was far enough to be annoying. Ivan frowned. He didn’t want to walk too far if he didn’t have to, but right now it was either walk out in the open or starve. Starving hurt, and he hated to hurt.
“Slow and steady, Ivan.” Ivan eased around the corner and started to follow the building towards the smell. The young boy followed his words and repeated them several times in his head, slow and steady. One foot and one hand in front of the other. Ivan trembled as the smell grew stronger. The nervousness he felt, along with the heat of the sun overhead, caused him to start to sweat. He felt a few drops slide down his back and one even snuck through his blindfold, dropped down the side of his cheek. It was a restaurant, and there were plenty of people inside based on the noise. Thankfully, there was seating outside. Ivan could hear voices and the sounds of eating straight ahead. He grimaced and swallowed hard. His mouth had started to make saliva again out of anticipation.
“Not there yet.” He argued with his body and was answered with a deep, heavy rumble of his stomach. He winced at the pain it brought along and then started to walk again, until he heard a door open. There was a faint noise of plates in the person’s hand and Ivan froze; he had reached it, and he had done so sooner than he thought. Ivan thought he was further away but that door just opened a few feet in front of him.
“Uhm, what are you doing?” Ivan jumped at the voice. Feminine and directly in front of him. The boy hesitated and clutched the building beside him. Oh no, he wasn’t ready for this. Not one bit.
“I… I uh…” Ivan spoke in a soft whisper, unable to do more than mumble. The woman made a light noise and then there was some rustling. Ivan lowered his head and dug his fingers into the building he clung to. Suddenly before he could mouth anything else, his stomach bellowed out loudly. Ivan’s face grew hot as he realized what had happened. He wished he had never left the alley. There was some silence, but then the woman giggled.
“Hungry?” The woman said and Ivan nodded. She asked him where he wanted to sit and Ivan simply pointed ahead. She took his hand and guided the boy to a seat beside some others. It sounded as if they were just gathering, but one of them was already feasting. Just the sound made Ivan’s stomach hurt. The woman didn’t bother passing him a menu but she still asked what Ivan wanted. Ivan looked to his right towards the sound of the man eating; it was a sandwich, and it sounded crunchy. If it was crunchy, then it probably had meat.
“That.” He didn’t care what it actually was, but he wanted it. The woman, most likely a waitress, told Ivan to wait and then she left him. He sat there in silence and placed his hands in his lap, tilting his head down. A moment later, his heart stopped.
“Oh no. I’m going to have to dig through the menu for money.”

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | Things started to pick up as a few more people showed up. The first was someone who had walked outside, a cute lady with blue hair who sat down a short distance away from him. He swallowed the bite of sandwich as she waved, giving a smile and a wave in return.
"Good day ma'am. Hope y'er farin' well this wonderful afternoon."
As he spoke, he thought he had noticed someone he knew walk through, though the outfit threw him off, and made him unsure since he didn't have that much more than a glance of them. Though, as it turned out it actually was Jade, one of the people he had quested with not too long ago. when she asked to join him Dagger moved his plates closer to give her some more room as he smiled broadly.
"Why a' course Jade. Good seein' ya once again. Hope y'er travels have been decent on ya."
It hadn't been that long since he'd lat seen Jade, but then again time didn't really matter when it came to friends. He was just glad to see she didn't look too haggard or downtrodden. He was about to strike up a conversation with her when the sound of a loudly rumbling stomach stopped him. He turned around to see someone blindfolded, slowly walking through until he was stopped by the waitress bringing Dagger his plate of bacon. She sat the guy down and moved into the tavern. She was going to get him some food, but Dagger wouldn't wait for that. He took his second sandwich and handed it over to the guy, setting it down in front of them.
"Here. Ya sound like ya ain't ate since the cows left home. It's a bacon sammich, purdyy good as the cookin goes round here. Order whatevah ya like buddy, I'll foot y'er tab today."
Dagger gave a warm smile, though he knew the man probably couldn't see it, it was more from habit than anything else. He moved his food a little closer to the new guy, motioning for Jade to come along as well. He gave a smile to the woman who was now a few seats closer because of the move before he spoke up.

| He had an interesting accent, Lerical noted as he smiled and waved back at her. She set her cup on the table, and bobbed her head a few times. A delighted smile crossed her face and stayed as she put one of her legs over the other under the table and propped her elbow on it. “It’d be hard not to, it’s such a nice day.” His gaze drifted elsewhere and someone approached him. Lerical took this moment to take a small sip from her spoon and let her eyes dart between the two.
Jade, she learned her name was, and Lerical hummed thoughtfully as she tucked away the tidbit. The blonde seemed to have a bright-personality to her, if the bumblebee appearance to her was anything to go by. It was cute, and fit her quite nicely. The greenhead moved to make space for her, and Lerical was about to open her mouth and greet her as well before she heard a low-pitched rumbling.
The noise didn’t seem to come from either in her vision, so Lerical turned her chin and searched for the source. Another one had joined them in the seated area outside; he looked absolutely miserable. The corner of her lip turned down as she took note of that, and the blindfold on his face. ‘It’s rude to stare,’ she mentally chided as Bacon-boy started speaking to the newcomer. Lerical looked instead back at her bowl, her grin returning once more at the word choice he used.
“I was just about to offer the same thing. The whole town must have heard that last growl there.”
Food was shared and space was closed, the group closer together than before with the changing of chairs and the new addition. Bacon-boy introduced himself--Dagger, and Lerical was relieved that she didn’t have to call him that anymore. “Lerical.” She looked between the three and slid her bowl over along with her cup and moved chairs to get a bit closer.

She smiled at the blue haired woman, glad to have been invited at the table, only to move but move she did. It was fine, the poor blind boy seemed to be starving, Her caretaker instincts kicked in instantly as she helped him sit at the new table, holding the chair out and scooting it in when She finally got introduced and she offered a wave at Lerical. "My name is Jade, nice to meet you. both, she said looking to both Ivan and Lerical. She took a spoonful of her soup and loved it, she was glad she had went with the special. The soup was perfect for what she needed for the afternoon. Jade looked to the other and handed the hungry man, the sandwich that Daggerfel had offered, making sure he had a hold on it before letting go. She wanted to provide just enough help but not too much, as she knew that even blind he surely wanted to do things for himself.
Jade giggled a bit, "You need to eat for sure, with a sound like that it has been far too long since your last meal.As for your question Dagger, I did indeed have safe travels. I have gotten out alot, spent some time getting Arcadia use to being near danger, he doesn't run at first sign anymore which is definitely an improvement. I don't think i have seen you around before Lerical, I hope that your travels have been kind to you. So, what have you been up to today, anything exciting?" She asked leaving the question open for anyone but directing it to Lerical if no one else. Jade made sure that Ivan didn't need anything, ready to help him at a moments notice. It was more of a habit than anything else. She liked helping people so it was normal for her to watch someone and be ready to help when they needed it. She stole some sips of her soup when she could, glad to start filling her stomach, and washing it down with some cold tea. This place had really good drinks and food, she would have to make sure to eat here more often considering she couldn't cook herself.
It was nice to be having lunch with company, it certainly made it go quicker. She looked to dagger to Lerical to the blind boy, it was nice to be among friends both new and old. Though dagger wasn't that old of a friend. She shrugged and kept eating, waiting to help the Ivan should he need it. After all she didn't want him to have any trouble, it must be hard to not be able to see. Surely one got use to it but still she wondered if they could do anything for him. "Could I perhaps get you some sort of walking stick? I can't imagine it is easy to walk without one. " After all that is what most people without sight used in the other world.

[attr="class","textBox"] Ivan’s mind was stuck on the idea of having to tap through his menu again. It always gave him a bit of difficulty even though he was getting better at it. He had found a way in the settings to make it appear directly in front of his eyes, but that didn’t mean he could manipulate it with them. No he still had to wave his hands in front of his body in the air to make the system respond to him. His hand placement was the problem. Though, Ivan had learned the basic region of where to put his right hand for it to register. If he placed his elbow against his right breast and lifted his right hand slightly so that his arm made a V-shape, his finger would be perfectly at the second item on the screen. He wasn’t always perfect, but it was close. From there it was just guessing.
As he sat there though, Ivan was alerted that he wasn’t exactly as much of a ghost as he originally thought he was. He didn’t like to stand out, preferring to try and stay out of as much trouble as he could by hiding away from the activity as a whole, but the waitress must have put him pretty close to it. A group one or two away, and by the sounds of their talking it the same group that he pointed at to designate his order, began to shuffle a bit and moved closer to him. Ivan lowered his head a little at the noise and tried to hide himself away. He hoped he wasn’t a bother and didn’t want to disturb their meeting. The thought of them moving to tease him made him even more uneasy. He frowned and lowered his head, his shoulders following the motion as he curled up a little in his chair.
“Just until the sandwich…” It was decided. Ivan was just going to wait until his sandwich showed up, then he would pay and leave. He didn’t want to be a bother for these people so that would probably be best. It didn’t matter where he ate the thing, just as long as he did so he was okay with leaving…
Instead of being teased though, Ivan heard something be placed in front of him. He twitched and looked up towards the direction of the noise, his nose filling with the sweet and hearty smell of bacon, bread, and some vegetables that he could only assume were tomatoes and lettuce, basic topping for a sandwich. Ivan sat up further in his seat and clutched his stomach as it lurched. But the waitress hadn’t returned. She would have announced herself—
“Here…” Ivan stiffened in his seat and turned his head towards the voice as it spoke to him; the man from before, and the man whom he had used to order. He was… sharing? And he was even going to pay for it? No, no Ivan couldn’t…
“B-but…” Ivan started to whisper his disagreement, not wanting to put himself in debt to another. He couldn’t just take someone else’s food and he definitely couldn’t take their money like that. It wasn’t right. Ivan knew about helping the needy and giving to the poor, but Ivan wasn’t either. Or did he really look that bad? At the thought, he dropped his head and lifted his hands. Then again, he had never really invested in anything better to wear since he had started this game. He probably looked like a mess.
After the man placed the sandwich in front of Ivan, the young boy was made aware of two others in the space. Along with the man, he was accompanied by two women; Lyrical and Jade. Ivan shivered a little at the thought of being in the presence of two girls, especially when they sounded so sweet. He frowned again and lowered his head for a moment. This was a bad idea, but he was here. And he wasn’t going to let the man’s kindness go to waste. Sister Anna had always told him to always be kind in return to those who were kind to you and if they offered a hand, to never take advantage of it. If this man was willing to feed Ivan, then Ivan would not bite his hand.
“T… Thank you.” Ivan tried to speak loudly, but his words still came out as just a little more than as whisper.
“I-..I am Ivan.” Blind and a quiet speaker; he was going to have some problems here. His rumbling stomach reminded him of his priorities though, so he focused on now getting the sandwich. The smell helped guide him for the most part but when he reached for it, he found himself getting some more help. Ivan’s hands bumped into the sandwich a little early and when he grabbed it, he felt a warm hand holding it out for him. Ivan froze for a moment until he realized that one of the girls was helping him get it. Quickly he moved his hand away from hers and grasped the meaty object firmly. He thanked her for her help and then brought it up to his lips, doing so slowly at first so he didn’t shove the bread into his face. He had made that mistake once and it was a terrible mess. Never again.
As the others talked, and as they pointed out his stomach singing the song of its people, Ivan quietly munched on the bacon sandwich. He took little bites, pacing himself as he steadily filled the barren pit in his abdomen. He had learned of the pain of eating too much, too fat when he was this deprived of food. He had also learned to savor what he ate, especially when it tasted good. In this world not all the food cooked had flavor. Unless it was handmade, it tasted horrid. By the delicious, mouth-watering tastes that were now exploding in his mouth; Ivan knew that this sandwich was indeed handmade. So he took his time. Not only that, but Ivan realized he had also forgot about a drink. Hopefully the waitress would bring him water.
Mid-bite, Ivan found himself being spoke too. From the voice, it was Jade. She sounded sweet and nice, her voice reminding him of the Sisters back in the orphanage. It made him a little afraid to speak to her because of it and Ivan felt his face get a little warm. She had asked him about a walking stick, something he probably should have thought of sooner. He chewed his mouthful and frowned. It was something so simple and basic, and it was probably a good idea to get one, but he had forgotten all about that sort of thing. Even in the real world, Ivan had never been given a stick to help guide him. He always had his hand held.
“M-maybe… B-but it is okay.” Ivan tried to speak up again but he had a bit of an issue with getting enough air to come out to do so. It was a little embarrassing. Ivan wanted to curl up again. “Never had one before…” He took another small bite out of the sandwich and chewed it for a long time, thinking if it would make things easier if he did have a stick. Maybe.

| but somewhere here in between these city walls | It quickly became a full on gathering, something that made Dagger just a mite more comfortable in the situation. He was obviously relaxed, his smile remaining a constant expression on his face. Good company only made the time more enjoyable as the conversation started. He gave a nod to Jade as she answered him, taking a bite of bacon as she explained and began asking Lerical some questions.
Dagger took another bite of his sandwich as he watched everyone, not answering Jade's question as he figured it was left there for Lerical. Though he might have just been seen as looking around at them as they spoke like any normal person would, Dagger was in fact studying them like he did everything else. Jade still had her confidence and whenever she did something involving Ivan, had that overly obvious 'motherly' feeling to her. Lerical was a bit harder to decipher at this point. She came off as rather reserved, her name choice also hinted to either a love or a talent with music in some form or other, which regarding her class, might give him a subject of talk at another time.
Then there was the newest member of the little group, Ivan. He was, certainly, the odd man out with just how shy and withdrawn he was. He almost practically jumped at anything that was said to him. Combine that with the fact the guy had stumbled in here hungrier than a herd of cattle at midday, Dagger had a lot of concern for the poor fellow. He didn't really know exactly anything he could do for the guy though, until Jade mentioned one of the walking sticks they had for blind folk back in the real world. He had seen a few of them in the local Walgreens when he went to pick up his Ma's medicines before the whole, stuck in a game thing happened. Once he had the image of one on his mind he decided to speak up once more.
"Say, if'n ya'd like Ivan, I can make ya one close ta what they had back in the real world. Purdy sure it ain't nothin' too complex, couple a hollow pipes, get some holes in 'em and make a few catches to make it compact so ya can store it a little easier. If'n that's too much I think I know a place I can get ya one made that'll jus' be a hollow metal pole f'er tappin' the ground with. Simple enough as it were."
He thought about it for a minute, watching Ivan as he waited for his input on the subject. He already had a few schematics lined up in his head as he gave the idea some more thought.
"Now, it's only if'n ya'd like one. Ain't no need ta worry 'bout paying me back f'er helpin' ya out if ya want, or ya can if'n it'd make ya feel better. Jus' one of them things where we're all in this together, ya know?" | of dying dreams |

It was a rather beautiful day today. Tristan was enjoying just walking around the town, enjoying the life that ran throughout all of Londonium. Her long green hair was tied back in a long loose ponytail like usual, but instead of her plate armor or full jacket and battle get-up, she walked down the street wearing a somewhat loose, red plaid flannel shirt, some somewhat baggy (but extremely comfy) cargo pants, and a pair of snug leather boots. Her sleeves were rolled up to just above her elbows, and one hand sat in her pocket as the other just hung by her side. She moseyed along down the street, the thick heels of her cowgirl boots clopping along the cobblestone pathways, and a toothpick jutting out the corner of her mouth. She laughed at the Lander children running around and having just a grand old time with the beaming sun and beautiful weather. She enjoyed the smell of freshly blooming flowers being sold on the street-side by the vendors, the smells of good food just pouring out of their respective shops into a grand play along the street. She really did enjoy it all to the core of her being. It was then that one of the restraunts in particular caught her eye. It wasn't like it was built incredibly interesting, or it looked extremely fashionable. It was a rather simple building with a small outdoor area for enjoying the weather, but sitting outside were a bunch of familiar faces. A smile across her face she went over, jumping the small wrought-iron fence, and joined the group at the table, a huge grin across her face. "Hey Dagger, Hey Jade how are you guys doin'? Been up to anything exciting lately?" Turning then to the new faces at the table, the same huge, goofy, friendly, carefree grin across her face, she extended a hand. "I'm Tristan, it's good ta meetcha!" Tags: Daggerfel Lerical Ivan Jade
