Nina sighed, her menu before her glimmering with a faint light, the data on the other side mirrored, making it difficult to read for those that passed... Not that many took an interest in peeking at her character sheet, though.
Sitting at such a low level, barely anyone seemed to give her anything more than a passing glance.
In a way, this made her a feel little more secure... Though it also irritated her, to a degree.
Standing in the lobby of the broken down old building, she let her back press lightly against one of the chipped cement walls, her heel wedged between the wall and the ground. The floor itself was rather smooth aside from a few cracked tiles, all black and white in color, though they had each long faded to become a near-uniform shade of gray, just like the walls.
A few players roamed the lobby... Though the area seemed fairly empty aside from Nina and three or four others, at the moment. Of course, of the four, two were very obviously people of the land who operated the banking services.
Of course, the reason for her sigh wasn't just her level... It was a distinctively small amount of AP and gold, two resources she would desperately need in order to further her plans. Normally in games like this, she could just seek out quests with a walkthrough and approach NPCs in order to take them for herself to do alone... But this place was strange. There didn't seem to be any NPCs... Or rather, none like she'd ever seen. They had some seriously amazing artificial intelligence in this game-world.
She'd always wanted an AI companion of her own... Nina always imagined they'd be the perfect friend to raise from scratch, moulding their mental matrix into a work of art such as her own mind.
Unfortunately, the AI in this world were far too close to human... It was such a waste, in her opinion.
Perhaps due to the nature of these thoughts, even with a smile common to her mask plastered to her face as she closed her statistics menu, she'd somehow come to level her gaze with one of the Landers standing on the other side of the counters... A gaze which they likely found somewhat unsettling, as could be judged by their fidgeting and occasional glances in her direction.
Of course, Nina took notice of this... She may not have always acted appropriately in certain situations, but she felt it was more fun to play the ignorant than to truly be one.
Besides, it seemed to have the effect of causing others to lower their guards when she was around, letting her catch some rather interesting cues in the process to make use of in analyzing the way they thought...
Dragging her eyes from the Lander behind the counter, she then let them settle on the exit doors. Two wide heavy wooden slabs with ring-like "knobs", if they could even be called that, could be seen from her position as least. The likely swung inwards, she was guessing. "Hmm... A fire hazard~?" she asked herself, trying to recall whether or not doors into such buildings could or could not be made to face inwards.
As she tried to remember whether or not this was so, a Lander pushed their way in through one door. A young and somewhat attractive woman with softly-pointed features, black short-cut hair and dark blue eyes, garbed in simple brown cloth and a straw hat entered... Probably a peasant or farmer, so Nina assumed.
As they stumbled in, their head dropped and arms flailing behind them to catch their balance, Nina let out a snicker and set her hands on her hips. "How graceful~!" she cooed, flicking her split tongue out teasingly as they then rose to their feet, frowning and dusting themselves off... As if that would remove the signs of dirt having been ground into the knees of her outfit.
Despite her comment, however, the Lander showed far more pride than Nina initially expected, waltzing right up the the heretic before giving a huff. "YOU. You're an adventurer, right? I am... In need of assistance. There's a path I need to cross through in the woods, but it's currently filled with monsters. I get if you don't want to help me, since I don't have anything much to offer... But there's someone I really need to reach, as soon as possible."
As the Lander finished their explanation, yet another being walked in. Judging by their outfit, though, this was either a Lander with some serious nerve or another Adventurer like herself.
"Well... If you kiss my feet, I might help~! Of course, I'll need some help as well. I can't get into it, but while I am an Adventurer, I'm not really the kind that can wipe a field of monsters in a sweep... I'm more of a control class, yes, yes, yes?" Nina explained, drawing a puzzled look from the Lander, who then gave a shrug before turning about to point at the new arrival. "Are you also an adventurer? If so... Will you please help me, by following this woman?"
The heretic tilted her head to one side, thrusting her hips to her right as she curved her body into a "C"-like shape, her shoulders moving in the same direction. "Call me Nina~!"
