The sun was already high in the sky as a young female leaned against the base of a large tree idly strumming a few chords on her guitar. First thing she noticed that the tuning was very similar to an actual guitar from the real world and second she could only produce some basic chords she had picked up from before. Maybe if she raised her skill as a bard it would be easier to play more difficult songs on an instrument as well. Leaning her head around the tree Masami craned her neck to stare off into the distant forest where stood a small herd of boars and their young. Yes, those would make perfect targets to practice her weapon on.
After putting an end to her playing with a harsh strum of a final chord Masami put the instrument back away in the case that rested beside her. Stowing the whole kit away in the inventory Masami retrieved her new weapon of choice since this Catastrophe, a large two-handed scythe. It was a little worn with not much damage but it was better than nothing and still had enough sharpness to get the job done when it had too. Gripping the shaft in both hands the girl made her way the short distance to the field at the base of the hill she had been on and down onto the grassy fields skirting the forest. The young boars shouldn’t be too much to worry about but the young’s parents might pose a bit more trouble and would either need tactful way to dispatch them or extract herself from any fights they try to join in on.
Bringing her left foot forward to lean down into a combat stance Masami lunged forward taking a first test swipe at the young pittered boar. Sweeping the blade through the boar’s flesh Masami brought the blade back up before stepping further into the herd to draw their attention. In particular it was two of the adult boars and the young one she had already injured, this was alright though as long she kept them in front of her. Taking several steps back away from her targets Masami held the scythe out in front of her with legs spread slightly apart and began spinning the weapon slowly between her fingers. Letting her body move naturally Masami continued the elaborate dance combining shifting footwork with scythe spins around her hand and going behind her back while slowly gaining speed.
However the boars weren’t content to just watch and continued getting closer to the new bard, heads bent low and snorting their anger at being interrupted. What they didn’t apparently realize was you approach a scythe wielder from the front and got a couple stray swipes as the girl continued her Elegant Act skill. Her finish of the skill brought the scythe sweeping in from the right and catching all three across the chest. “Just hold still please, I’m only trying to get these weak ones in here." She muttered to the mobs as she slashed once more before sliding her left leg behind her and moving her body, aiding by Elegant Act’s evasive bonus, and barely managed to avoided the boar attacking from her left.
Unfortunately for the Masami the rest of the herd took notice of the commotion and began to filter into the fight as well. With a worried look taking over her face the girl switch her hand position into a defensive stance and began taking steps back away the now large group of boars. “Whoa, hey now guys can we just relax and take it easy?" Her voice beginning to be strained with worry as she tried to keep distance from herself and the mobs. Swinging the scythe from the right she quickly reversed direction and brought in from the left catching the front boar across the chest and left shoulder with solid hits. ‘This isn’t going anywhere, there’s too many and I can’t pick out one to focus on.' Thinking to herself as she took more steps back pausing only occasionally to land another swing if they came in range.
Having all of her attention focused in front of her Masami hadn’t even noticed that she had backed all the way up the hill and bumped into the tree she rested at earlier. Taking a moment to look behind at what she bumped into distracted her enough to let several boar head butts land before she could swing them back again. Taking a large lunging step Masami tried to give herself as much room as she could before putting her weapon away and turning to jump up the tree. Climbing from branch to branch until she was about halfway up the trunk, the girl pulled herself up into a sitting position on the branch and pulled the scythe back out to hold in front of her. This day was not going well at all, so much for finding an easy to learn to play music better.
