It had been a while since Bailin had met with dordur along on the streets. Their encounter was brief and strange but after a short chat both had admitted to wanting to try and build a boat. Now that Bailin had a house with access to a water large enough to accommodate a boat it was time to invite Glius over. Bringing up the menu to send Glius a message Bailin then proceeded to type: ‘Hey chap, how are you doing? You remember that time we bumped into each other and started discussing boats? I now have my own house, next to the river, here’s the address. Come over and we can start working on it. Greetings, Bailin.’ “And send.” Bailin spoke as he sent the message to Glius , adding him to the ‘allowed to enter list’ right away.
“Hmmm, we could use a carpenter, I doubt Oddy can build us an iron boat that will float.” Mumbled Bailin to himself, “Or maybe Glius just happens to be a carpenter… ah well, time will tell and in the worst case scenario it’ll take a bit more time.”
“Alright let’s get this party started. First off… I think some block-and-tackle wouldn’t be a bad idea. That way we don’t have to fight the wind too much, nor rely on raw physical power alone. Some sails would be practical as well… and some belaying pins to keep the ropes neatly tucked away…. Wouldn’t want to be tripping over ropes when sailing. Time for gutte Arbeit.” Bailin spoke with resolve to himself.
Rummaging through a pile of junk he took out a hook, some metal strips, some screws and an oval blok of wood. “Well now, this looks good enough, let’s see what we can do with this.” Bailin said grinning to himself.
Carefully using his M.U.T. he then proceeded to make a hole at the top of the wooden block, large enough for a rope to pass through. “Careful, careful, not too fast, don’t want to start all over again…” he mumbled concentrated as he used the drill part of his M.U.T., tough he tried to only use the smaller parts of it’s drill.
Next Bailin made a small gutter from the hole in the top, down to three thirds down, as a way of keeping the rope from shooting anywhere, or at least that was the idea. Keeping focussed he unwarily put out his tongue as a way of concentrating. After Bailin finished making the gutters he proceeded to make a hole on the side and in the middle of the block where he could attach the metal strips with screws, making sure the strips went from bottom to top.
The last item on the list was attaching the hook to the metal strips. First off Bailin had to make a hole in the top strip, through which he could put the hook, fastening the hook with a screw, making sure one could hang the hook somewhere, enabling the block-and-tackle to be useful.
