Remember, this thread takes place only one week after the apocalypse. No one should have made significant progress yet. At most, only the most dedicated would probably have reached level 20 at the in-universe time of this thread so anyone above 20 should take note and scale their level appropriately. Failure to do so will most likely lead to ejection from the thread. [attr="class","cscroll"]

even if that thing is God
It was been over a week since the apocalypse occurred and the players found themselves trapped in the game of Elder Tale. No, calling it a game anymore isn't right; the game had become a reality. This wasn't the same Elder Tale they knew anymore. While the basic rules remained the same, with classes, HP, MP, stats, levels, etc. being applied to the game's physical laws. Yet, at the same time, the players had more freedom in controls. Before, many things such as aiming were handled by the game, running of random number generators that used character statistics to determine whether or not an attack was successful. Now, it depended a lot in skill, not just game skill, but also any experience the players had in the original reality such as kendo, fencing, archery, etc. can apply to how proficient someone is with their weapons. At the same time however, their bodies have, at least, basic combat skills programmed into them—sort of like muscle memory. Most likely it was either a remnant or translation of auto attacks from when Elder Tale was a game. This led to the question of just how this reality was connected to the game, Elder Tale. Was it the game becoming its own reality? Was there some sort of connection between the game and this reality? Like whenever someone imagines a world, a parallel universe is created? It was certain that this could not be a virtual reality world with the given level of technology in the original reality. Even if virtual reality had been fully designed, the amount of processing power needed to create a world of this detail would be absurd and beyond the capabilities of computers in the present day.
There were also the question of the People of the Land, who were NPC's when Elder Tale was a game. Not only did they seem to have multiplied, but they also have their own personalities with memories, family, hopes, dreams, nightmares, fears. Aside from clearly lacking the absurd potential, abilities, and privileges the body of adventurer's have, the People of the Land were no different from the players. Their speech pattern was clearly not from any sort of program, their bodies having the same needs as any other. By all accounts, they were basically human, granted some of them were of other races such as elf or werecats but still basically human.
In fact, the adventurers are the odd and most likely the minority here. With incredibly resilient bodies, the ability to respawn, enhanced experience growth rates, and overall basically being demi-gods compared, the players are the odd ones in this world.
Then there are the monsters. Strangely enough, while the People of the Land went from basic speech patterns to full blown intelligence that greatly surpasses any attempts at acritical intelligence done in the original reality, the monsters seem to, more or less, retain their basic combat patterns with aggro working like how it did when Elder Tale was a game along with any quirks the original AI had. Perhaps it is like a sort of instinct for them? Kind of how animals in the original reality had a survival instinct of sorts? Though they can deviate from it somewhat, namely demi-humans like goblins, and can show some signs of intelligence and organization—albeit nothing on the level of the People of the Land.
Reviewing the information she had collected over the past week, Elfriede continued reading the notes she had taken. She was sitting alone in the tavern of the inn she was staying at. As she took a bite of the sandwich she ordered, Elfriede could not help but feel a bit depressed at the taste.
And as always, it is a tasteless soggy cracker… I thought that since the People of the Land were natives, that they may know a way to give food some flavor. However, it turns out they also just used the menu. Any attempts at manual cooking seem to fail so we have no choice but to eat this mush. What I wouldn't give for a thick juicy steak right now or a large and juicy hamburger with extra cheese...
Taking some salt, Elfriede sprinkled it on her sandwich to give it some taste.
At least ingredient type items retained their taste. Base food items like raw fruit and vegetables also retained their tastes…. Eh why is that? The only difference between the fruit and vegetables would be that they were not made by the system menu, but grown by hand... Is there something we are missing in the food production process?

Agata sighed as he walked around this game's equivalent of London. One week into this disaster and no one seemed to have figured out anything. He hoped he didn't starve in real life. That would be unfortunate. Then again, if he did, how would he be wandering around now, fully conscious and aware of what he is doing? Not to mention there didn't seem to be much information. People were more panicking than anything else...or causing trouble there was that misfortune too.
Today was a dud in Agata's definitions. He explored and got lost around town for a bit and to make things worse he got no new information to go on. One can argue he could actually go and bother to leave town and level up for awhile, but Agata felt he wasn't ready for such things yet and he wasn't sure if he is going to find a decent party yet. How troublesome...Agata looked over at the inn and dug through his pockets. At least he had the default amount of gold, not taking into fact that they were some days where Agata just slept on a rock out in the open because he didn't feel like going into a building and sleeping there.
Agata opened the door to the tavern of the nearby inn. Usually it was this kind of place that be what people would dub 'bad guy bars' though maybe having a shoot out in here and having the hunking royal guards arrive and possibly destroy the place in an attempt to eliminate the 'troublemakers' might be a bad idea. It wasn't like this tavern had much to worth fighting it out for. All the food here tasted like cheap convenience store rice crackers back home and all the drinks taste like water. It was a good thing this body was more durable and that he barely felt hunger. Agata's eyes did finally wander over to something of interest.
"You're collecting information?" Agata asked as he sat down across from her. "I hate to impose but is there somethings you can share for free? I don't have much on me." He might as well ask. There was sometimes the occasional misfortune of when someone charged him...when Agata had nothing to spare. Not to mention he doubted being free entertainment or trying to balance his sword on his noses would provide the payment they had in mind.

Elfriede froze for a moment when the young man spoke to her. Her first reaction was to hide her face behind her notes, peaking time to time to make sure the man was speaking to her. When she confirmed it, her heart sank. Not only was she deathly shy, but Elfriede still had difficulty speaking. Even if her vocal cords were repaired in this body; the fact that she never spoke in the original reality the use of functional vocal cords feel awkward and strange. As such, Elfriede could not properly speak and was still limited to sign language and written notes.
What do I do!? What do I do!? Maybe I should just say that I don't give handouts and that I would expect information for information? Wait how do I even say that when I can't even speak!? Maybe sign language?
Quickly putting down her notes, the panicked Elfriede tried to communicate in sign language, saying, 'If you want information, you will need to give information in return.'
Wait, what if he doesn't understand sign language? What do I do!? Uhh I can write him a message!
Pulling out a blank sheet of paper, Elfriede wrote, 'If you want information, you will need to give information in return.' However, in a hurry, she wrote it in Japanese. Taking a moment to realize that she wrote it in a language that the young man probably does not understand, Elfriede turned beet red and became even more flustered. Quickly trying to pull out another sheet of paper to write the message in proper English, Elfriede accidentally dropped her quill pen. In a flustered panic, she tried to pick up her quill pen, she bumped into the table and knocked over her ink well.
My notes!
In a mad panic Elfriede quickly attempted to save her notes from the creeping ink, but fell out of her chair—face first—in the process. As she looked at her notes, parts of it had become illegible due to the spilled ink, Elfriede's eyes begin tearing up.
My notes….
To the unaware, the scene probably looked like the young man was bullying Elfriede. Whispers could be heard how the cruel the young man was to make a little girl cry.

The girl was stunned as she saw Agata. He perked up his wolf ears and looked behind him. Was something the matter? His vision quickly darted back to the girl who was moving her hands in an odd manner. He arched an eyebrow before finally pulling out a blank sheet of paper and started to hastily write something down. Was something the matter? Could she not speak? There wasn't a mute status effect last he checked...what was she writing? Japanese?
"If you...want..." Agata's eyes slanted as he read the paper. "In-oh?" Agata noticed the girl scrambled for another blank and tried to write in English, her face beet red. In her panic, she knocked the table and the ink well was knocked over. "Um..." Before Agata could finish, he found her collapsed from her chair. "Oi? Are you alright?!" Agata bent down to her level...and then his ears overheard some gossip that might not be great for him, public-image wise.
"How horrible..."
"To think someone is cruel enough to make such a little girl cry." Agata shuddered and quickly went over to prop the chair back in its proper place and hastily apologize. He couldn't argue his way out of this one, this was technically his fault for being so upfront about his request.
"S-sorry!" Agata blurted out...in Mandarin Chinese. "Ah shi-!" Agata said before he took a deep breathe to finally calm himself down. "Sorry about that." He went over to offer a hand over to the fallen scribe. "I'm sorry for being up front about it. Umm..." Agata quickly called up his menu. "I...don't have anything to wipe your tears with. Doubt money and bullets are ideal for tear wiping...plus how would it look if I just gave you my coat sleeve for you to wipe your tears on...can't just wipe it with my fingers too I disturbed your personal space enough as it is."

Tearfully finishing her sandwich, Elfriede felt even more depressed with each bite she took. The sandwich was just that bad. No matter how good any of the food looked, they all tasted the same. Whose idea was it to make all the food taste and feel like soggy salt-less crackers anyway!?
The food is bad and my notes are in disarray… And this guy is still here and I don't know what to do! I can't talk and he probably doesn't understand sign language. Plus that was the last of my ink so I can't really write anything. Why me…
Elfriede just kept feeling worse and worse as the seconds passed by and it showed visually, which did not help the young man's appearance as more whispers could be heard. Earlier, Elfriede desperate checked to see if there was any ink in the ink well left and just dropped her head when it was clear that there was no more ink. She depended on her quill pen and ink to communicate when sign language failed. Now she was crying while slowly munching on her soggy cracker of a sandwich. A sad yet strangely adorable sight at the same time.

Agata watched as the girl got back on her chair to finish the rest of her sandwich. Given how she was still crying as her snacked on her likely crappy tasting sandwich, Agata's words were not very well received...much like the reception Agata is getting from everyone else in this tavern. Only he thinks it is getting worse. He looked over at the ink well that was now empty due to spilling. He quickly dug through his pocket. How much did those things cost anyhow? Either way, no matter how much it costed, it was still technically his own fault she lost such valuable ink.
"Um..." Agata pointed to the ink well. His brain paused for a moment. He slipped into his mother tongue for a moment. "I'm sorry for the ink-well, how much does it cost so I can pay it back? Now...how to say it in Japanese..." While Agata managed to crawl out with a passing grade in Japanese, it was far from perfect, given how it took him a little while just to catch some of the message the girl was trying to write earlier. He took out a sack of his gold. "I'm sorry for the...ink-well." Agata began, now attempting to do his best Japanese for the poor crying sandwich girl. "Umm..." He pointed to the inkwell. "How much? Pay back?" Despite not getting a price, Agata placed the sack of gold in front of the girl.
"Now he's trying to buy an apology?"
"Go to hell asshole." The mutters were not exactly getting better. Agata started to step back away from the table and subsequently his gold. Agata didn't want to do this too early with little info but it does look like he is gonna have to go out in the field and kill a few things to get gold to make up for this blunder. Granted, he wondered if the girl would be satisfied since the sack only contained a little bit less than the default amount of gold.
"Maybe I can do an odd jobs service or sell bullets..." Agata pondered to himself in Mandarin.

Nisha had been sitting 'idly' by as this transpired. Well, idly was not really the right word for anything Nisha did, even the week she had spend just figuring out her new body had been anything but idle, but rather quite... well, stressful, this beast that was her tail was untameable and flopped wherever it seemed to want just to be inactive the next second and did not do anything. Sighing she had given up for the day again and headed out to eat something in a tavern for once, not that it tasted much better or worse than anything else, but they had more spices to keep things interesting. All in all, it had been a few interesting days, even though she had little to do. Ad so far, she was the only one she knew or had seen who was not freaking out most of the time about being caught in the game, already having a game plan ready anyway. And so she had sat down ordered a random item, since they tasted the same anyway and lacered it with spices, wondering once again how she could miss real food this much where she had never done so before, even so far as to just shovel in something she found in the house when she was slightly hungry without ever savoring it. And then the funny started. Someone had walked in and started to talk with some girl who was apparently looking for informations about the game. Making her cry in the process. Making Nisha exclaim this fact semi loudly and make everyone focus on the situation, seeing that some other had already done so as well. It was a funny thing to watch, since they both seemed to be quite flustered by it and tried to play it down only to incite new boo´s and short laughters from other people. Finally having enough after wiping a tear of laughter from the corner of her eye, Nisha stood up, feeling not hungry anymore without even taking a single bite from her food. And here she was, having sworn herself she would not get involved with stuff anymore and just have fun, but maybe that was the way, get involved and have fun. Sighing once more, but more in a theatrical manner, she began to walk over to the two people who were fidgeting around. "Sheesh, you two are adorable, sit back down guy. Or rather get some tissues for her. You okay? I see you are a scribe as well, mind using my tools for now?" Nisha asked and pulled a chair from another table to sit down at the end of the table, smiling at both people. Her hand was moving and opened up her inventory, pulling out a refill bottle of ink, a quill and some paper, resting it well away from the spillage. "So, informations, hurbbbllpft." Nisha said, quite inelegant as her tail suddenly whacked herself into the face and she tasted fur and her eyes began to tear up a little, sputtering away from the table, trying to pull hairs out of her mouth, but feeling as if she swallowed some hairs already. When the young man spoke to himself in Mandarin, understanding him due to having taken a number of foreign languages to meet graduation requirements, Elfriede immediately shook her head at first, but suddenly stopped when she heard bullets.
Wait, bullets? There are guns in Elder Tale now?
As soon as she was given new writing utensils, Elfriede immediately wrote, ‘You said bullets? Were guns recently added into Elder Tale in the Novasphere Pioneers expansion? On the Japanese servers, I played as a Level 90 Elf Summoner, and in all of my time I had never seen a single gun in the game.’
A new weapon type had expanded before Elfriede and she began imagining how they could be used. As an Assassin, she had access to every single non-class specific weapon in the game, both ranged and melee. If guns existed, she definitely could find a use for them. She imagined they would be rather primitive guns, most likely flintlocks, but even a single shot from a Flintlock pistol could change a fight as it can easily create an opening, interrupt a key attack, or deal that tiny extra bit of damage needed to kill a key target. Then when you add in the possible upgrades you could add to the weapon, a whole new line of tactics opens up.
As Elfriede looked at the young man with stars in her eyes, something eyes caught her eye. The tail of the Fox-Tail player who gave her additional writing utensils. As she looked at the tail, something inside Elfriede clicked, like a switch was flipped. A sudden urge to touch the fluffy tail appeared inside her. Catching herself reaching out for the tail, Elfriede quickly restrained herself, but wrote a question, ‘Can I touch your tail?’

Agata turned over to a black haired Fox Tail Adventurer. His eyes glanced over at her status screen. Nisha? Either way, Agata had no reason to disobey and sat down. He started to dig through his inventory. Were there tissues? The fox girl placed a new ink bottle for her. Well that saved him the trouble, but none the less he still felt he owed her somehow. "So, informations, hurbbbllpft."
"Are you okay?...actually that was a bit of a dumb question." The fact that the girl's fox tail just hit her face indicated that. She pulled herself from the table and started to try to get some hairs out. It was then Agata noticed what the girl across from him wrote.
'You said bullets? Were guns recently added into Elder Tale in the Novasphere Pioneers expansion? On the Japanese servers, I played as a Level 90 Elf Summoner, and in all of my time I had never seen a single gun in the game' Agata nodded. They were something recently introduced apparently and the concept interested him enough, so decided to just go with the flow. Besides, it would give him both close and long range options, albeit only physical attack wise. He is going to have to get elemental weapons eventually to make up for the fact that he has no magic what so ever.
"Yeah. I have yet to test out how helpful they are. I just thought it complimented what I have in mind in terms of a future build." Agata said. Still, those bullets are going to be a bit of a money waster. "So far the only guns I saw are cheap one shots. They are a pain to reload when I tried taking the bullet out and putting it back in." Agata shrugged. "Ah well....though now I'm wondering if you heard any of that..." The wolf hair noted in acknowledgment of the girl's focus on the other girl's fox tail. He placed upon the side of his head in thought. "That does bring me to a question..." Agata tugged at his wolf ears. "I can feel with these...definitely hear a lot better, but they hurt when they get tugged on. How does it feel for you?" It was clear that Agata was making no attempts to stop the other girl's desire for the fox girl's tail.

Urgh somehow she needed to take control of this situation again, this was just embarassing and having a tail that flopped into her face like this was really no help of any kind. Sighing, she wiped over her tongue again, wondering why it felt so rough, not realizing that it had also changed to that of a beasts, although it would most likely not be long until she realized that much. But yeah, his question was weird indeed, but Nisha thought that she could at least give him a sign that she was okay, after all, her mouth was still feeling weirdly full of fur and dry, nodding at him, she saw what the girl was fussing about, guns, huh? Nisha had little to no interest in them, since if she wanted to wield a gun, she could just go back to the real world, she wanted to see magic, wield magic and be a magic swordsman and had already picked the right classes for it. Scribe allowed her to be a semi sorcerer with a grimoire and some basic spells at her disposal. Samurai allowed her the widest array of weapon usage and exorcist for some added spells as well. All in all a good mix to her and another reason she would not touch a gun in this game if she could get around it. But in the end, she was glad that the girl had stopped crying and seemed quite happy now that she had something to write again and used it already quite well. Apparently she was used to it seeing how fast she was going. Still not feeling like talking again, she listened to their banter and wondered when she should join in, holding her tail away from her face, just to be on the safe side and not miss anything. These two were really quite adorable with how excited they got, good thing Nisha had interfered when she did or this could have ended before it´s time. Grinning at the sight, she suddenly saw that she was being recogniqzed finally by someone at the table and tilted her head slightly as she read the message and listened to him talk about pain in his ears. Another good topic for discussion, but first. "Harumph... Yeah, better now. Sure, go ahead, just look out, this thing has not been house trained yet, so please do not mind if it moves all of a sudden or not at all, but I take good care of it anyway." Laughing, she looked over to the guy and added: "Yeah, was quite the change to have only one pair or ears above your head and a tail that actually flops around naturally, or at least close to it. Just wish I could get it under control, but it might need some work. Here you go." Nisha said and carefully moved her tail over to the girl. "Oh, right, my name is Nisha, what kind of information are you looking for anyway?" Curiosity was one of the big challenges Nisha faced in the race against herself after all, well, or rather a passion of hers since she hated caging it and was the main focus of her, seeing the most interesting things she could. Having been given permission to touch the fluffy tail, Elfriede playfully hugged the tail—carefully stroking it. The soft fluffy fur felt amazing. Stroking the tail, Elfriede felt a soft core inside.
Amazing… So fluffy…
Unable to suppress the desire any longer, Elfriede buried her face in the fur. The sensation reminded Elfriede of her bed back in the original reality with it puffy blanket and pillows. Sleeping in it was a bliss, not like the crude rudimentary beds the inns had.
Someone should use these tails as the design philosophy in bed crafting. They are simply pure bliss…
Hearing Nisha's introduction and question, Elfriede, still hugging the tail, wrote in a manner so that no ink would fall onto the tail and blemish its blissful fluffiness, 'My name is Elfriede. I am not looking for any specific information per say. I am just gathering as much information about this reality as I can. If we are to survive here, we will need information on how the world functions. Many things may not function the same way as it did in the game and many things definitely do not function in the same manner as they do in real life, food for example.'
Grabbing another piece of paper, Elfriede continued writing out her message. 'Any food produced by the system menu instantly has the texture of a soggy cracker and the taste of a salt-less one too. However, raw food like freshly grown fruit or vegetables and ingredient type items like salt, retain their taste. This leads me to believe that we are missing something or doing something wrong in food production. What is being done wrong is not known and thus general information has to be collected. It is not just food production, but could also be something applied to anything that would have been normally created by the system menu when Elder Tale was a game like equipment and other consumable items.'
Putting the quill down, Elfriede, finished explaining her goal and reasoning, continued to stroke the fluffy tail in pure bliss.
So fluffy… I could play with this tail all day and not get tired of it. I should have chosen Fox-Tail as my race to have a tail.

"Harumph... Yeah, better now. Sure, go ahead, just look out, this thing has not been house trained yet, so please do not mind if it moves all of a sudden or not at all, but I take good care of it anyway." The fox tail said. At least the girls were now smiling and no longer crying...though Agata had to mentally shut off more comments that people were making due to this misunderstanding. "Yeah, was quite the change to have only one pair or ears above your head and a tail that actually flops around naturally, or at least close to it. Just wish I could get it under control, but it might need some work. Here you go." Agata was feeling blessed to just have the ears at this point. "Oh, right, my name is Nisha, what kind of information are you looking for anyway?" Agata was about to answer but saw the girl write down something.
'My name is Elfriede. I am not looking for any specific information per say. I am just gathering as much information about this reality as I can. If we are to survive here, we will need information on how the world functions. Many things may not function the same way as it did in the game and many things definitely do not function in the same manner as they do in real life, food for example.' Agata stood up to get a better look as Elfriede got another piece of paper. It is not just food production, but could also be something applied to anything that would have been normally created by the system menu when Elder Tale was a game like equipment and other consumable items.' Agata crossed his arms and looked up. Raw food and ingredients still have their taste? That would've been great to know a few hours back.
"I see..." It was then Agata neglected to introduce themselves. True, they could just look at their status screen but how rude would that be? "I'm Agata." He bowed politely toward the two girls. "I'm simply a wanderer at the moment. Really I just want to know if there is anything on the city borders to look out for. I already heard about monster patterns and behaviors and where it would be too dangerous to go without a party. I was thinking maybe today I would find out if there is any news of interest going on around here or what is beyond the borders of this city."

Nisha was trying hard not to say anything as she felt the girl embrace her tail, it was a weird feeling and it felt... not bad at all, but different. So far only she herself had touched it and kept it away from others, so this was kind of a test run and Nisha did not know before it would feel like this. Blushing a little and hiding it behind a hand she put over her mouth, she looked down a little to conceal it while she felt a little bit weird and happy about it. Sure, she had not thought consciously that her tail was a nuisance, but at some points she definitely had thought so subconsciously. Like when she had suddenly swiped a few hundred apple from a market stand or other such things. All in all nothing big, but enough to deserve being called a nuisance, but she loved it at the same time. Vigorously nodding, still trying to hide her blush that the tail was definitely fluffy and nice. Sleeping on it was definitely the thing she enjoyed the most so far, the blankets in taverns could just not compare and if she remembered correctly she would get even more tails over time. The thought alone made her even happier and she felt better right away, feeling like she could tackle this group at least. After all, she had a slight fear of being in a group, but three people were the maximum that she could bare anyway. "Well, I do not know much about the monsters outside of london, only a low level player as well, but the most I can tell is that they changed a little as well from what I heard. They seem more natural now, maybe with the last expansion they upped the AI as well? Anything else would be about sensory stuff. I do not really care much for escaping the game anyway. I just want to enjoy myself as long as it lasts. After all, someone is gonna come up with a way to get out anyway at some point." Smiling at Agata she had said so with a serious tone, her cheeks slightly flushed as she felt the warmth of Elfy flowing into the tail as well, adding a whole new dimension to the feelings in the tail. It felt more and more like a real part of her, something she did not know if she liked it. Just imagining that she might try to wag a tail out of the game if she got too used to it got her embarassed as well. though she did not really want to think about the rl anyway. "Just wish I had picked a magic class, but thought I would try out a samurai for now. Casting magic must be awesome right now if it really feels more natural than before." Nisha said and trailed off a little in thought, wondering how it would be to cast a spell in this kind of environment. even if that thing is God
They talk like this is still a game.
This wasn’t Elder Tale anymore, it was a new reality. Some basic rules and phenomenon like the royal guards, HP, MP, Stats, Skills, monster aggro, monster respawns, experience points, etc. all still existed in some form. However, the amount of detail, the fact that they are controlling their avatar bodies as if they were their real bodies, the People of the Land’s speech patterns, everything was beyond what the current technology of the world could accomplish, far beyond it in fact. Even if virtual reality was streamlined and ready for consumer use, ignoring the fact that no one likely had any virtual reality equipment installed on their computers (Elfriede knew she definitely did not have any virtual reality hardware), just the sensation of touch and feeling alone would be far beyond what the current computing power of the world could handle, let alone things like the AI necessary for the People of the Land. To Elfriede, there was no way this was still a game.
‘Are you guys really sure this is still the game? While some basic rules and phenomenon like the royal guards, HP, MP Stats, Skills, monster aggro, monster respawns, experience points, etc. all still exist; it is beyond the current computing power that exists in the world to create such a realistic world. The People of the Land’s speech pattern are too natural and complex to attribute to a simple program and would likely require incredibly advance AI’s. Just the sensation of touch and feeling alone is beyond what current technology can produce. I doubt even a super computer could handle all of this, let alone the average PC that a gamer uses. This is a new reality, not a game.’
If people really do still think this is a game, then we are in serious trouble.
‘As for the monsters, there is really nothing to worry about in the area just outside of Londinium. The worst you would find are probably slimes or boars, both of which are pretty easy and weak. All of the monsters there acted like they normally would in a game which leads me to believe that aggro patterns are a sort of instinct here. The only other place I explored so far, are the Northern Marshlands. I met a number of Goblin Scouts there. While they seem to follow the basic mob patterns at first, I witnessed a small group becoming more organized, starting a chain of command as time progressed. Beast types seem to follow the aggro instinct like when Elder Tale was a game, but the demi-human types seem to have some level of intelligence.’
Elfriede could not help but sigh, all while stroking Nisha’s tail.
So fluffy…
‘However, this is still too little information. We don’t know why we are in this new reality. How we even got here. If there is a way home, and, if there is a way home, what that way home is. We are completely in the dark here.’

I just want to enjoy myself as long as it lasts. After all, someone is gonna come up with a way to get out anyway at some point." Agata was smiling as he watched Elfriede kept touching Nisha's tail. He wanted to pay full attention to Nisha but he can't help but to be amused. "Just wish I had picked a magic class, but thought I would try out a samurai for now. Casting magic must be awesome right now if it really feels more natural than before."
"I haven't played a mage in awhile..." Agata now shared Nisha's curiosity on how magic casting must feel like in this world. Do they just say the spell's name like unleashing one's own skill? Now a part of Agata wondered if he should've picked Bard. It was sort of the closest thing they had to a magic warrior around. Maybe Shamans too? Then again, Agata was trying to make a self-sufficient solo set up and he didn't pick Summoner, a class that is known for being flexible. Ah well, Agata made his decision and he was going to have to stick with it. His ears perked when he heard Elfriede began to write something down.
‘Are you guys really sure this is still the game? While some basic rules and phenomenon like the royal guards, HP, MP Stats, Skills, monster aggro, monster respawns, experience points, etc. all still exist; it is beyond the current computing power that exists in the world to create such a realistic world.' That...was actually a good point. The system Agata was using was a typical PC in his apartment. It shouldn't be able to produce something like this so smoothly. 'The People of the Land’s speech pattern are too natural and complex to attribute to a simple program and would likely require incredibly advance AI’s. Just the sensation of touch and feeling alone is beyond what current technology can produce. I doubt even a super computer could handle all of this, let alone the average PC that a gamer uses. This is a new reality, not a game.’
"...with all that, it is hard to argue." Agata placed a hand on his chin in thought. "But if that is the case, that still leaves how we got here." Agata looked down at the table and then at the ceiling trying to think hard about it...then shrugged. "Ah well, I got nothing."
‘As for the monsters, there is really nothing to worry about in the area just outside of Londinium. The worst you would find are probably slimes or boars, both of which are pretty easy and weak. "Looks like my tactical years aren't going to work here..." Agata took a moment to run through his head that demi-human enemies have the ability to organize. That in itself is a danger on many levels. "This puts a new spin on things." The Northern Marshlands was also another location he was going to have to keep on his mind as he travels. "Thank you, you have been really helpful. Though I guess now I need to present something to you. You did say earlier information is information. Since you told me what I desired, is there anything in particular you want from me?" Agata asked Elfriede. "You'd be surprise what you learn by spending a good number of your days sleeping on rocks and the amount of people who forget to turn on the private chat."

Nisha shrugged, Elfy was making some good points, sure there was no way a normal computer, or even any server network would be able to do this. It was also true that Nisha was not feeling like she was in her own real life body anymore, as if she was really in this body. Also true that she had a feeling she was really not connected with that other... now fleeting world anymore. But none of that really mattered, they could not explain this anymore with any logic and: "Well, if something is over your head isn´t it just like magic? Same with this, this is all so much more than any of us can really understand, so in the end, isn´t calling it a game, or even acting like it is one quite okay? It is not like any of us can do much about it anyway, the only thing we can do is see where the game ends and the whatever this is starts. So in short try out as many things as we can to learn the limits of the game and where the seams are. In my opinion the only option to find out more about this unless we get some myterious message from someone or someone comes to rescue us on a white horse." Nisha laughed, but it sounded a little bit sarcastic, she had no doubt that something as weird as those two options would not happen, after all, this may be a game, but none of them were protagonists and if this was really some form of reality it would not work like this. It would just be too... convenient? As for if she really thought it was still a game, yes, she did, there was no way they would be inside a new reality, even them being NPC or something new introduced into this game with real artificial intelligence and fake memories was more possible than whatever else it could be. Looking at her tail, she muffled her own voice as Elfy worked it over, it felt good and weird at the same time, but slowly she was getting used to it in that form that you can still feel it but it won´t show on your face, the pink in her cheeks slowly receding. Looking at Agata as he spoke up, she wondered how much information he could have possibly gathered and what information he could have gotten from other players who would most likely be just as confused and weirded out than them, but then again... Who knew, some of them might actually have an idea, admins or some other form of player who observed the server who had logged in to get here or something like it. "If I may, did you come across any player who seemed like moderators or game masters? Oh, also, I may need to add something to it, the utmost thing that could be interesting is 'why' it happened, most questions can most likely be answered from that answer. And who better to answer that than the people who were running this before whatever happened." Nisha said and smiled at the two of them, drinking some of her juice and suddenly as two emotions clashed, the feeling of her tail and taste senses how to somewhat at least move her tail, as if it had slept all the while before, that weird sleep that limbs got when not used for a long time or not used correctly. Already this meeting had paid off, at least as far as Nisha was concerned as she felt herself wiggle her tail gently in elfy´s hands, making sure not to disturb her. Ah, it was a grand feeling. even if that thing is God
It's okay to call this a game because we can't understand it!?
Elfriede just found that statement to be completely irresponsible and outright insulting to the people of the land. To treat the current situation as a game would also mean treating the people of the land as mere NPC's, to treat situations like monsters attacking a village as a game event that would simply be repeated when failed. It was clear that Elder Tale was no longer a game, but an alternate reality. While the adventurers would still respawn at a cathedral, the people of the land would not. If they are killed they die for good. For the people of the land, it was never a game, but literal life. Elfriede may not be the kindest person, actually being a sadist deep down, but she still has morals and treating the life of another living being as a game simply sickened her.
Letting go of Nisha's tail and standing up, Elfriede tried her hardest to yell, "I-i-it-t's n-not a g-g-ga-me!" It was obvious that Elfriede could not effectively speak, it was still clear that she was livid with the idea of treating this like a game.
Still in enough control to realize that speaking would be unlikely to get her message across, Elfriede picked up the quill and wrote, "If a village of the People of the Land was under attack and you were either ill-prepared or ill-equipped which would likely mean assistance would cause your death and inflict an experience penalty on you, would you help them? If looking at it from the standpoints of a game, the ideal solution would not be to help and let the village be destroyed and its inhabitants killed as when you look at it from a gaming perspective, it is only a single game event that would simply occur again in the future when you are more prepared for it. Everything would eventually just respawn and reset in a game and thus there would be no real consequence."
Taking the quill again, Elfriede wrote on another page, "But this is no longer a game. This is now reality. Any person of the land that is killed is killed for good. There is no respawn for them, they will literally die when they are killed. We may have the luxury of immortal bodies but they don't. That village won't respawn, it will not reset; it will simply be destroyed. Maybe in a few years it will be rebuilt but the people there won't come back, they are gone for good. If you were to simply leave them to die because you don't want to suffer a death penalty, then you are effectively murdering them. Their blood will be on your hands. The People of the Land are not some expendable NPC's in a game, they are living and breathing people with lives and families."
