Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 Inhaling a deep breath, Parasole sat in one of the large classrooms that the Vylbrand Academy operated. It was sort of like being back at college due to the amount of desks and chairs that lay about with Bailin, an impressive character standing at the top. It was her first time within one of these rooms, especially now that she was a member of the guild. It was a nerve racking experience so far and she didn't know how much Saskia had told the others or if she hadn't said a word, still though she could see one of her friends, Autumn already exhaust herself on trying to convince the guild to expand it's library.
It was odd how well Parasole's everyday attire fitted the school scene and she couldn't help but feel as if this was where she was meant to be, if not just for now. She was grateful that the guild and it's leader Saskia had been so welcoming to her, it was a pleasant change. She allowed everyone else to talk and ask questions as she thought about one thing and one thing only.
Once the sorcerer had taken his seat once more, the cleric stood up and cleared her throat. Her heart raced and pounded against her chest as she felt the attention fall on her. "My name is Parasole and I have a question." She paused and let her words fall silent, trying her best to build up the courage to speak and be heard. She needed to phrase it right or the meaning would be lost. Inhaling a deep breath, she let it fill her lungs looking at Saskia as she did so before turning back to look at Bailin. "I would like to know what is being done with regards to players who have found themselves trapped in the opposite gender." She spoke her words clearly and calmly and refused to take her eyes of Bailin.
"Although this is a player specific problem, I believe if real advances were made, we could easily help out players that require it, not only that but." She paused once more, her gaze studying the man's face. "You talk about raids and training, but these players are stuck inside a prison, a cage of the opposite gender and there is no escape. They are afraid to reveal themselves, afraid to be who they are, ashamed of who they now are, their bodies do not represent them and no matter how much times passes, they will never adjust." She swallowed a ball of nerves as a feeling of dread washed over her. "I would like to ask the Vylbrand Academy lend all it's support to aiding anyone who have found themselves in such a situation." Her eyes sought out Saskia's, praying that the woman would lend her support, lend her weight as leader. Parasole needed to know more, without this guilds help, she would never be able to solve the problem. Taking another deep breath, she let it exhale before casting her gaze around the room. "I would also like to let adventurers know that if anyone has found themselves in that situation, that they can come to me or our guild leader Saskia in confidence."

How did Jason, regarded by everyone as OG Loc look like as a student? Well, exactly as his name kind of implied. Leaned back to the extend that you couldn't lean back any further without laying down on the chair, Jason was sitting next to Parasole. His hands were leaning up the back of his head, with closed eyes. As it appeared that he was sleeping, nobody would take much notice of the young male probably, but what was going on in his mind? ' Man, talking about being able to starve to death, I am hungry as hell. Why didn't I get myself some breakfast before coming here? I could've done that. I could eat a whole horse right now, actually that horse of Saskia, what was it called? Icarus? Yeah, Icarus. Icarus would be quite a good bit to eat. What am I even thinking? Ew. I have to distract myself somehow, this is just getting weird here...' ' Damn it, Autumn has a lot to talk about. Kind of expected that to happen. I would say she needs to relax, but I kind of can understand her hunger for wisdom. Maaaaaaaaaaan I would kill for at least a sandwhich now. Where was I? Oh yeah, wisdom and stuff. I hope girls ain't having periodes in Elder Tale, would make stuff at least a lil' simpler for 'em. Gosh, why am I sitting here and listen about stuff like that though?' ' Damn it, poor Parasole though. Must be quite the struggle with such an issue. As a men being stuck in a woman's body sure sound... who am I kidding? It might be troublesome and hard for someone, but it simply can't sound hard if I think about it like that, not to mention Parasole's looking quite good. Wonder what he looked like outside the game... Or maybe instead of a sandwhich a huge steak? Yeah, that would be fine as hell right now. No no no, I have to distract myself somehow.' Jason balanced his chair, whipping it back and forward slowly as he still was sitting or maybe more lying on the chair with his eyes closed. " That's it, I am so damn hungry, I have to distract myself somehow." It took him a few seconds to realize that he said the last sentence out loud, loud enough for a few people in the surrounding to hear it. Thankfully nobody was asking questions or saying something in that second, so he might aswell take the opportunity and distract himself by asking questions, since he was actually listening to what was happening, despite how he appeared to be. Yeah, it was true, Jason looked like an ignorant student all in all, but it wasn't true at all. " Ey yo, I have a question, but first I would like to answer Autumn's question, even if it might be awkward. Taking into account the fact that it is still possible to bleed within Elder Tale and it is not just a feature of death and because of the us probaby well known fact that our organic functions are still considerably close to the ones we know from our life outside of the world, it indeed might appear to periodes be something that also in Elder Tale may be reality. However despite all those different known information my own theory sounds different. Due to us being programmed to posses the self cleaning feature within here, there will be no physical evidence of our female companions having this time of the month. The self cleaning feature however does not include our mental status, which makes me believe, that females will have something that could be called a mental periode, the uncomfortable feeling, pain and all effects on the mood will still be appearing. But as I said it is just a theory of mine and I am by no means a specialist." Jason took a second to cough out before he continued "But back to asking questions. First of all I would like to know what is done in the direction of going back to the outside world, which, although this life here is quite pleasant, should more often stay in the debate. And perhaps it would be quite nice to know, to which extend our own abilities are still relevant inside this world. So per say is it still relevant if someone is physically extraordinary fit outside of the game, here in Elder Tale, or is all our personal skill for naught?"

Darko intently listened from his seat as question after question were raised. One was about the support for the people who were trapped in a different gender as theirs, as well as making a potion which, hopefully, should turn those people into the body of their gender; and the other was about the abilities of the people who were trained in the various forms of martial arts and other fighting styles who were stuck in the game, if they would be able to use their talents here. He thought that the lecturer might be bogged down with a lot of questions from the class, and so he decided to answer some of them by himself. Although he might incur the lecturer's displeasure there should be some persons who could help him tackle some of the questions that the others raised, and the lecturer would have the liberty to concur with or dissent against that person might be saying, so there would be room for a healthy debate which should shape up their knowledge in the things they had questions. Darko had hoped this class would clear out any misunderstanding about everything with this development.
After the lecturer acknowledged his question, he then raised his hand again, after the two people had raised their questions, saying, "May I help in answering their questions?" If the lecturer would let him, he then started. Facing the person who might have been trapped within a body of their opposite gender, he said, "I would think it would be natural for some people to role play as a person with the opposite gender if they felt like it. I have seen many people do that in the past, and they seem to be enjoying doing so. Some tried to do that here, and now they are trapped in this world with their real gender opposite to what they were in-game, which is an evil affliction. I would think that no potion would remedy this affliction right now, and if a potion was discovered to remedy this, I would dare think that it would not be permanent. And, although I, as a member of the Magistrar Division, would add that to my slate of what to discover, I would dare think that nothing would be found that could solve your trouble. And so I agree that we should have a permanent support system for those people who were trapped in this situation, so that they would have enough courage to break through their shells and fight for our return to our former lives. Which brings to your question," he then glanced at the second person who threw a question at the lecturer. He then said, "It could be said that this world brought us closer to our fantasies, but the problem is, we do not belong in this world. We have families back in our world who were worried about us, feared that we are dead, and are still waiting for our return. I would dare think that every adventurer should push forward to that goal. And about the second question you asked," he then remembered what he had experienced, "I would dare think that our abilities outside the game were still relevant here, but not our physical strengths. And so we should not be too complacent about our auto-attacks when we could have something which would be faster than relying too much on them. This was formerly a game, but we have reached the point that it should not be treated as a game when we were already living here. I would be suggesting that we should have a group who would train the adventurers and landers on the various fighting techniques. But I would leave the training that could boost physical strength to the landers, since they needed that sort of training more than us who could just rely on our stats to carry something for us. And also, I believe that adventurers should forgo their gaming mentality right now. As I said, this should not be a game for adventurers when the landers are still struggling to go with their daily lives fearing that more catastrophes would be produced day after day while we were here. It should be the time to prove to the landers that we are not a bunch of idiots who are the cause of trouble to them. We should get serious in our planning assaults on the areas needed to be taken down, as well as in every place that they need to train themselves. It was enough for us to become strong, since we really become stronger as we accomplish more challenges; we need to become aware of our surroundings and be wise in utilizing them. I'm wrapping this up with a gem of thought: the surroundings are a friend to the person who uses it wisely." He then sat down and awaited for the response of the lecturer as well as the other people in the class.

Post by Saskia on Feb 12, 2015 20:54:03 GMT
Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________ After Saskia had addressed the students questions, it would seem that there was a bursting influx of new academy students that finished with their processing and had finally gone on about making themselves known. Since Saskia had had a brief experience with them all and took the time out to personally train with each of them, she knew the general gist of what they were about and what they had aspired to accomplish while here in this new world.
The first to enter was the right and bubbly spunky monk, Piper. Both a fighter and somewhat of an Idol. Saskia had met her over the shores of the Isle of Grain after a clan of seagulls raided Saskia’s picnic and left bird shit in her margarita, thus ruining a perfectly good meal. Swearing revenge upon the damnedable birds and cursing them to high heaven, Saskia and her accomplice, Piper, proceeded to beat the living shit out of them. It was then that Piper chose to take a dip in the beach unaware that the Sahagins were amphibious predators that lurked in the water. While the beasts began to gnaw at her ankles, she swam for dear life and ran up on the beach where the dynamic duo proceeded to beat the living shit out of them as well. All in all it could have been said to be an excellent training session with remarkable turn out as it seemed that after the bout, the nimble monk, Piper, would have soared straight into the double digits in level. They celebrated with Mahi Mahi and coconut shrimp as they talked about the casual things in life such as food, drink, and merry song.
The second, to emerge was the blossoming brain flower, Autumn, who in her haphazard entrance had knocked Piper down on the ground, face down and ass up, as Saskia noticed a few promiscuous glares from the other male students, she sighed and rubbed the front of her pink brow in anguish as she contemplated scolding the girl, but deferred to her tsunami of questions that was unleashed by the four eyed vixen. She was like an intellectual seed that when it sprouted, it threw it’s vines all over the place. It was apparent that she had a bottomless sea of questions swelling within her mind as she spoke of various topics such as the Fairy Gates, human biology, history of the King’s German Engineers, Libraries, and cherry juice that was secreted from the nefarious female creatures during every full moon. Her last topic was about innovation in general. Which also brought up and interesting concept before passing out. Which world was more advanced? This one with magic and alchemy and infinite life or their own?
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a silver-violet haired Sorceress quietly sit down and seclude herself off from other students and barely spoke to anyone in the classroom. Rinee was a bit different than the others. She had bore witness to the death of many landers as her and Saskia tried their damnedest to protect the Grain Village from the raid of Sahagins that stormed the shore. The event was very traumatic and the events that occurred still haunted Saskia’s thoughts to this day. She hoped that the girls thoughts hadn’t been to damaged from the experience and that she’d find a way to cope after all that had happened.
While Piper got up off the ground she checked on the well-being of the fiery mouthed red head and Bailin addressed a few topics during the class. As the professor addressed his thoughts on each subject, Saskia listened to his reasoning. Mostly everything he had spoke of had been sound.
That is when he waved in a familiar face from the Moon Dance Forest, Saskia was honestly quite surprised to see the young scholar who accompanied her on a scouting mission to learn more about the creatures that learned in the uncharted terrains of this world. While in a fierce battle with the fiery demon fox spirits, Nogitsune an Myobu, they worked in tandem an the man had been a brilliant tactician though faced with the diversity of not being able to use one of his main spells: Orb of lava. Using every spell in his inventory, he amasse a series of heals, blocks, and stuns allowing Saskia to engage the enemy in close combat despite their ferocity. He like her had a passion for learning things and she had no doubt that the man would prove to be a valuable asset to the guild.
With a deep breath came a woman, or-...well a man-...or...well...we’ll just call him Parasole for now. Parasole enter and she-...er...he...gosh this is hard. Fine. We’ll just say he for now, out of respect. He (God damn that feels weird...) made his public service announcement about people who found themselves in awkward situations. Knowing his secret of a conversation they shared while Saskia brushed his smooth, long, and voluptuous hair, he shared the fact that he was in fact, a man in a woman’s body. Saskia took a moment to let the words marinate in her head as the young man called on the academy for aid.
While she calmly thought of a response that would be most appropite in response she saw the swagtastic adventure known none other than the infamous OG Loc. (Icarus: OG LOC IN THE PLACE Y’ALL!!!) Shut up horse. Saskia had met this man and his ghetto wolf CJ in the snow fields while they became under attack by the notorious Penguin mafia and attacked by the Crystal Reindeer Cartel aka the CRC. He complained about being hungry which mae Saskia wonder if they had any talented cooks within the guild. He explained his own personal theory about what goes on with a woman’s body and threw his two cents in on the subject. He then proceeded to make inquiries about how they could get back to their old lives in the real world. Also he was curious about the relativity of the skills they new in the old world.
That was when Darko rose from his chair and asked permission to speak, which Saskia freely granted, as she considered the knowledge from the intellecual would be valuable and noteworthy. This was proven more so by his dedicated speech as he highlighted the fine points of this world an what he felt mattered to him. While he sympathized with Parasole over the ordeal in regards to gender and sex change potions an how he felt that the chances of discovering such a thing was slim to none.
He then went on to remind the students that they had lives back in the real world. Family and friends that missed them dearly. It was his perspective that perhaps they were still alive and existing in the real world, quite possibly in an unconcious state. At least that was what Saskia had inferred.
He then offered participation with the landers in an effort to make them better people and improve public relations. He then ended on a final note with speaking about how “The surroundings are a friend to the person who uses it wisely.”
“Excellent observation Darko, however I implore you are to think on these things. This is: “That the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. Simply because you don’t have evidence that something does exist doesn’t mean that you have evidence that something doesn’t exist. “
"What I’m saying is that there are Known Knowns, and there are known known unknowns, but there are also unknown unknowns...thing’s that we don’t know that we don’t know. “
“Think of Thomas Edison for example. Before those days, no one knew that light bulbs existed. But how did things like this even begin to come about I ask you?” Saskia said as the rose from the table and then proceeded to walk about the room.
“The answer is simple, my dear friends. Innovation. Do not be discouraged to aspire to do great things in life. When you innovate, you’ve got to be prepared for everyone telling you you’re nuts. You see...you cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. “
“Regular brainstorming is as critical to an organization as regular exercise is to your health. It creates a healthy responsive culture. We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we have used to create them. It means the paradigm shift in the way we think of solving problems and even what we recognize as the problem. Innovation is not the result of mere chance, my friends, it’s the result of action. Innovation is not a process but a state of mind. Therefore, it can’t be learned, but felt. It’s not a thing to wait for. It’s a thing to do.
“ If you want innovation, you have to invest in people. If you look at history, innovation doesn’t come from giving people incentives; it comes from crating environments where their ideas can connect. This is the concept we had in mind when Bailin and I founded this organization. There are no dreams too large, no innovation unimaginable and no frontier beyond our reach. There is no substitute for innovation. Original revolutionary ideas will always rise to the top. “
Don’t resort to imitation but rather look for inspiration to further your own creation in the pursuit of innovation. The only way to move forward in life is innovation. And innovation, born from true creativity, depends on movement. Life, after all, is all about motion. Whereas stasis is equivalent to death.”
“I beg you ask yourself this question, have we really stumbled upon a terrible crisis? Or by chance have we discovered a grand solution? Never before in history has innovation offered promise of so much to so many in such a short time. Not only is there Science, but there is magic that can be applied here as well. Alchemy, pharmaceuticals, Mechanics, and the like.”
“ I want you to reflect for just a moment and truly think on these things. We have lived here several months now. I agree, yes, we have families that we may or may not desire to go back to. We have been here for quite some time, and for the older folks, we may have vary well already lost our jobs, been evicted, had our credit scores plummet to the depths of hell, and practically have fallen off of the face of the earth. We’ve left behind our children, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, and dear friends. However, in doing so we discovered an uncharted new world. We may have stumbled upon a gate to everlasting immortality. Think of how many ailments and fatal diseases people are suffering from right now as we speak in the real world. Think of that person that is told they only have two years left or that little girl that only has two months. Think about those in this world who, before this they were broken. “
The deaf can hear vividly, the once blind can now see clearly, and the paraplegics can walk again! We require less sleep in this world, which means more can be accomplished when we’re burning daylight. We wouldn’t have to worry about people starving due to world hunger as the shops have nearly infinite stock and the edible monsters respawn. We have something here that people have never even begin to fathom. Even war itself, may be a thing that holds no true impact on us as we are void of death. Although, we must also look out for the well-being’s of the natives here and improve public relations.”
“I know some of you miss your family, but I ask you to think on these things. I have two theories. One of which is that it may be possible to not only return to our old world, but even quite possibly bring the rest of the world here and show them the new world we as adventurers have pioneered. The people need this. There is so much we were unable to solve with modern medicine alone. However, despite whether we are able to return or not, I believe that here, with the duality of science and magic, I believe we can pioneer the greatest revolutionary era this world has ever scene!”

» As disappointed as she was that the cute girl was really a guy, Piper could not help but feel for Parasole; Piper could not imagine how hard it must be for him to be stuck in a body that was not his. Piper imagined if she had played the game and had thus became a boy and gagged a little.
Piper listened to Darko, and decided she did not like him. His defeatist attitude in regards to Parasole's problem, his fixation to returning to the real world... Piper did not agree with a word of what he was saying. The matter-of-fact way he had of talking, as if everything he said was completely ironclad truth, even though much of it was complete bunk... It grated on Piper's nerves.
"Okay, I think I'm going to have to stop you there," Piper got up out of her desk and turned to the smaller man. "First off, it's ridiculous to write off the possibility of a sex-change potion. In the real world, science alone has been able to get pretty damn close to exactly that; one would assume that combining science with magic would make the final product even better and make the lives of people living in the wrong body much happier." Piper breathed in before continuing.
"Secondly, as of right now, we have no knowledge of how or even if we can get back to the real world. We do not know if time passes linearly with the world we used to live in, we do not know if time has even passed at all. Some of us are actually quite happy here; those who aren't and wish to get back to their old world will still be stuck here for the foreseeable future and chances are that any evidence on how to log out will only be found by exploring the world of the game. As such, I think it is more important for us to focus on making a home out of this world; improving relationships with the Landers, participating in raids and delving into the lore, and especially working to solve issues like the one Parasole brought up." Piper sat back down, feeling self-satisfied; she had never had the guts to argue with someone like that before. It felt good to speak her mind.

And here we go. The ball had started to roll as the headmaster herself reproved Darko's words in that no evidence should not mean the falsity of the whole thing. And the woman that he tried to help one time somewhat turned against him for the "nonsense" that he was saying. Actually Darko had not ruled out the possibility of sex change potions; he just lamented on what might be the fleeting effects of these potions and what it might do to those who were expecting a permanent change. And about him wanting to go home, that would be a personal reason. He wanted to share this to the others so that they might understand him, but he would think that he would not be understood by those who wanted to stay and would be hurt in leaving this place. There were too many people that they thought they could understand a person, but they ended up shoving that person into a greater depression. That feeling Darko felt, and so he shunned large crowds. In other words, Darko felt depressed by what the two had said. He was thinking of leaving this place and journey into the frontier alone, without any help from others. A lot of people didn't understand him, and they didn't attempt to. No one was a true human enough to try to dig into his feelings even though he had shunned them.
The main reason that he needed to return to the world that he was born in was to say something to his parents. He had not yet said these things due to the fact that he was trapped in here, and so he sought on finding a way out of this world in order to say these words to his parents. He had been mustering these words since that day appeared, and he did want to relent. This should be the only time to prove that he was really a human, a human who can dictate his own destiny. He had been cowering on what these words might lead him, but that time should be the time to say the things that was lodged deep in his heart. He was sore displeased in being controlled like a pawn for the ambitions of his parents, since it had ruined the life of the person who had taught him about the true meaning of life. But this land, which everyone thought was a real paradise, served as a prison for him who only thought that he must have done something at one time to become a true human.
He then said, "I am sorry for those who thought that I said that there was no hope for those who were trapped in the bodies of the opposite gender; I was just frustrated by the thought that the potions might bring to them more ruin than success due to their fleeting nature. I envisioned a much better solution than that, something which permanently inverts their gender without the need for surgery, but I was always led to dead ends in my researches. And..." His eyes, which had always been stark serious, became softer as he stared at the woman. "I think you would never understand why would someone prefer the depths of hell instead of a lovely paradise, to do something which he have not done before. As for me, I would continue searching for clues to extricate myself from this world, and if I should search the whole world for those clues, then so be it. If I fail in doing that, then I, as useless and cowardly as can be, might as well disappear!" He then dropped to his seat, his head hung low, and his hands clenched into fists as he stared blankly at the table, verging to tears. He wanted to run away from them all, but his legs could not generate enough force to make him stand up again.

Do you believe in ghosts? The initial thought of doing any sort of “checking in” on his new founded Alliance with an up and coming Guild really didn’t make much sense to Saber, but he felt as if doing so could get him some sort of gauge on how they were doing. He could also use it as a way to really find out their strengths, potential abilities, and also what they could offer him in terms of support in the field. Saber didn’t look to assumptions, estimations, or words as anything to base his thoughts off of. No, he did not believe fact until he saw it happen right before his eyes or until it was explained in such a way where ignoring it would be impossible. He couldn’t see heat, but he could feel the sun burning his skin; the sun was hot, fact. However, the abilities of a group of players were hard to really understand by someone simply speaking to the Assassin. With that being said, Saber decided that it would probably be in his best interest to attend one of their “sessions”.
Of course, Saber didn’t exactly have extremely high hopes for this session but he had enough on his mind to know that they probably weren’t fooling around and throwing paper balls at each other. They were led by the Guardian, Saskia, and in Saber’s few encounters with her he could tell that she wasn’t exactly a full blown idiot. Some players were, but she had a little bit more of a chip on her shoulder. Though, he didn’t know her enough to complete eliminate “idiot” off of his list. That came much later, and a lot of the people Saber had come across still had that label over their heads. Only two people had eliminated that name from his vocabulary, and he hadn’t seen them in a long time. That was not new, however, as Saber kept to himself ninety-nine percent of the time. Due to this, he had a good idea about who he was about to walk in on.
Though, as Saber walked through the Old Parliament building, Saber couldn’t help but feel like he should go do something else. He had research to finish and time wasn’t exactly going to stop with him being here. The Assassin also had two active quests he needed to complete, one of them being a lead-up to a dungeon which would grant him access to an underground lair he had been digging at for a week now. Well, at least this would get his mind off things. He was a level ninety player who rarely took any breaks and it was getting to be a tiring endeavor, one that was becoming more and more unnecessary with every passing day. At first, all Saber did was grind and fight so that he could maximize his experience gain. Now that he didn’t have any experience requirements for his Assassin class’s level; fighting day in and day out was a useless thing to do. A break wouldn’t be too bad, would it?
The Assassin let out a sigh and opened up his menu as he approached the door to his destination. The left index finger of the player quietly tapped across the options and he tapped his way across to his Tamed Beast storage. From there, he summoned Blumpy; his floating pumpkin companion. Said companion appeared floating in the air in front of Saber with a happy smile on its face. It let out a giggle and twirled around in place a few times, turning and twisting around in place before floating up to eye level with Saber. The Assassin huffed at the playful nature of the Pumpkin and then carefully nudged the little guy onto his shoulder. Blumpy listened happily and made himself comfortable, turning around so that he could see where Saber was going. The Assassin pat his companion on the head and then carefully passed it a small cracker to nibble on, which Blumpy happily devoured. Saber chuckled lightly at the sight and then proceeded in.
Very quietly, Saber slid the door to the back of the room open and stepped inside. He activated a hiding skill to silence his steps and to cause his body to distort as it became fairly opaque. Once he was through the door, the player slid the door closed behind him in silence. He took a few steps forward, his ears already open and listening to the conversation which was being had. He did not speak, he did not intervene. He simply leaned back against the rear wall of the classroom behind everyone else and then shut off his skill. The Assassin crossed his arms and made himself comfortable. From his position at the back, Saber was able to quickly take in the view of the various different players in the room. He looked at names, levels, appearances, and weapons. He checked their faces, whether they were asleep or awake, distracted or focused, and then he simply listened. Saber closed his eyes and relaxed against the back wall. He wasn’t here to intervene, make a scene, or take over the session. From what he could tell, this was some sort of class and he was no teacher. So, he kept his mouth shut. Even Blumpy quieted down, but the little pumpkin seemed far more intrigued by the color of the walls than the actual people in the room.

“And welcome to you too, mister Lipowitz or would you prefer mister Darko? As you might have gathered my name is Bailin, your lecturer for today. As you already noticed, things can become rather lively especially compared to lectures in the real world. For now the things we miss the most are our own guild hall, a general idea what is going on, a more detailed information base and so on and so on. In short: pick something you’d like to research and see me if you require funding. I will commence a quick and general oversight of funds shortly, however, I reckon the questions you all have asked of me are more important and are in need of a hastier response than funding.” Bailin responded to Darko. [break][break] Listening to the questions, the answers and the wee bit of bickering Bailin remained silent and unwavering; his arms crossed in front of his chest, his eye closed and chin upon his chest. [break][break] When all had been said Bailin raised his head, opened his eye and placed his hands next to him on the desk. Inhaling deeply and exhaling equally as deeply he prepared to speak once more as the debate became rather interesting and even heated for a bit. “Well now, to start in relatively chronological order, though most shall be a rather repeating of what has already been said. Parasole, welcome, normally I would ask what your problem was, as is my understanding of the… initiation rite of the anonymous ‘I have a problem groups’, however a jest I might make, I do think it might pose a problem eventually. Yes, there are some physical troubles, which are a nuisance, however, the question that my mind is asking me to ask the people in that specific situation: How are you mentally holding up and how will you be holding up? To put it in simpler terms: You are a male, in the body of a female. The hardware is relatively the same, but how about the software? The jokes were always that men were from Mars, women from Venus, but it is indeed true that both the male and female mentality is rather different. Are you thinking like a man or are you thinking like a woman? It poses an interesting question and dilemma. However, we should probably find a decent alchemist for those in the predicament you have given us as soon as we can. It is true I am not aware of a gender-change potion existing, yet; however we can see how far we can get. Perhaps it would be wiser still to have our and any other willing pharmacists, apothecaries and alchemists work together and find ourselves a scribe to document the process. And I concur, it would be best to discuss those… issues, so to speak, with someone you trust. I know from experience that holding these issues to your own will slow you down a bit, which is one of the reasons I actually love being here, amongst you all. I can talk and discuss my and our problems, as well as discuss about things.” Bailin spoke gently and as caring as he could. Parasole was one of his guildmates; they had to look out for one another in this new world and the way she had spoken suggested she knew someone that was close to her that was in said predicament. [break][break] “And onward to the next question.” Said Bailin with a smile as he closed his eye as he went to search inside his mind for whom had spoken next, searching for the place where said person sat, how he, or she, looked and sounded. Slowly his mind conjured up the image of a boy, balancing on his chair, gently swaying back and forth, eyes closed and green of hair*. “Ah yes, the hungry chap. Well, alas we indeed have to nourish ourselves, as well as hydrate and use the sanitary utilities around the world. In a more common form of speaking: we need to eat, sleep, drink, and take a leak and a dump. Food can be either created by chefs or bought from Landers, so be nice to both as you’d prefer to have your food taste like… food. Which indeed would support your theory about our internal and biological make up still being largely intact or at least created as close as possible as the original, with some perks added in. Those perks being, amongst others, we are relatively immortal. We die all the same, however we get reborn again and again and again, a luxury the Landers do not have. However, as I mentioned, we do have some perks. Those being, I think best described as, skills from a previous life and a relatively fast learning curve. I have both been told and have experienced a bit, that indeed those skills and flaws are… transferred to our new bodies. So, to remain with your example of a physically fit person: yes, you would still be fit in this world; though it also depends on the physical appearance you have given your character. To take the problem presented to us by Parasole as an example: If you are used to being a physically fit person in the real world, you would have been likewise in this world. However, as a person in said predicament choose to create a character that does not resemble his or her ‘true’ physical form, one might say his physical fitness has decreased a bit, until such a time he is accustomed to his new body. This is of course a rather simplified example but as far as I am aware and have been told, this is the general gist of it. As for me, I choose to create a character resembling my true physical form in larger lines. However I shall admit, I am now more physically fit than I was in the real world.” Bailin ended with a grin as he poked his belly a bit. [break][break] “Alright onwards and once more to the next subject that has been brought to our attention. If memory serves it was mister Lipowitz. I dare say I have responded to most of what you had mentioned and unless I am mistaken you are a scribe and as such you could assist in documenting the research to the letter, if I might be so bold as to request this of you. On the next matter I have to agree with you regarding our reliance on the game mechanics, yes they make life easier, but as the saying goes: the more you sweat in training, the less you’ll bleed in battle. It is perhaps a strange saying regarding the context but I think of it like this: If we do not learn to do things on our own, without the assistance of the game mechanics, we will surely perish. To keep this to a game: as long as we find challenges and enemies on our path, we’re going the right way. However, I disagree with you on the point that this is still a game. Or perhaps I should bring this more philosophical: Are you alive?” Bailin replied to Darko, holding a short respite to allow people to refocus or shift to a more comfortable position. “It is true that this is a world we know from a game. Yet, I feel more alive in this world than I ever did in the previous one. It is also true that there are things we call game mechanics, but what if we replaced the term game mechanics with laws of nature? However, before I go into further detail, I think we should continue to the next matter at hand and save this for a game of questions. To shorten the answer: Is this a game? Most likely, but it is also life. Do we need to find a solution for those who are trapped in an unwanted or impractical body? Yes we should. Should we do things ourselves, rather than let the system do it for us? Yes, we should, we should indeed and rather yesterday than this morning.” Bailin said stern, but as friendly as he could. [break][break] “Ah, yes, the even more philosophical response from our esteemed leader is up next. I think I will spare you all the entire philosophical discussion between her and me, as that will take a few hours on a bad day.” Bailin said grinning as his eye went through the classroom, “I shall only say this: The wise man, or woman, knows he, or she, knows nothing. It is a saying ascribed to Socrates. It perfectly fits our current position in this world. We know near to nothing, as this class has clearly pointed out. This is, however, not a problem. It means we can discover this world once more and possibly even leave our mark on it. As Saskia has pointed out: We all have family and friends we have in the real world, however: we are no use to them dead. As such we should work together and strive to make this world a better one. Think of it as a management game: One needs to establish a stable base before one sets out to conquer the world. In our situation: we should settle and learn as much as we can about this world, before we even start attempting to find our way home. And to be honest, I personally prefer to remain here as my life in the real world was… well… rather daft. Which is something Piper pointed out as well, however Piper, please play nice. In the words ascribed to Voltaire: However I disagree with what you have to say, I shall defend to the death your right to say it.” He ended with his usual grin, “So, even if you disagree with someone, please remain polite and try to keep calm. It saves us a world of troubles, which we have established we have enough of as it. Perhaps the good Sir Winston would also be appropriate: If you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite. I think you might have been a bit harsh on mister Lipowitz. Mister Lipowitz, if I might be so rude as to impart you a bit of wisdom, which nearly all of humanity could do with and something I attempt to uphold but even I am but a mere human, though in this world that has a rather different meaning but I digress once again: I would request and suggest that one such as yourselves would not presume nor assume anything on what a human, both adventurer or Lander, could or would understand. We are an innovative and resilient bunch. If, in your words, we were to be placed in the depths of hell, we would probably find a way to make things rather pleasant. As such you might have had a few setbacks and there is no shame in disliking or sharing a different opinion with people, be they guildmembers, friends or just the random guy in the street. All I suggest and ask of all of you is this: give each other a chance, work out your differences and work together. In the words of Sun Tzu: A pile of building materials is no more a house than an angry mob is an army. Currently we are an angry mob, taken from our lives and placed here. Now we have to become an army, united under our banners, working and striving together on our set goals. If that means we shall attempt to create a gender change potion or spell, we shall do that. If that means we shall attempt to find out how many grains of sand are on the beach, we shall do so. Together, strong as a house, for a house divided against itself cannot stand. A house where we shall find shelter and comfort, amongst friends or more, or at least at people we dislike a little less than others.” Bailin lectured, with a stern face. As he finished the lecture he relaxed a bit and with a large grin, which was a lot more like him than the stern faced: “Phew, in short: be nice to each other, even though you disagree, for if you do not I shall not refrain from making wedding jokes… it also saves you all the references.” [break][break] “But in all seriousness, mister Lipowitz, Darko, we can and probably shall work on ways to get home, but we require all hands on deck for now, just to find ourselves a place to stay for a longer time and figure out this world we find ourselves in. Each and every single one of you has skills and traits that might help with solving a problem. Whether that problem is mathematical, theoretical, practical or physical and so on and on, none of you are useless and failure is just a challenge we will have to overcome, together. To make things a tad abstract: We are on a ship, Saskia is our captain, I am our commander. Our chefs are our cooks, our tailors our sailmakers, our fighters are our marines, our carpenters are, well, our carpenters and so on. A ship cannot function if it is manned with just one person, nor will it function if none of us work together. However, if we all work together, as a crew, as a team, we can conquer the world and beyond. So, I beg of thee, never call yourself useless. You are not and if you do feel as such, please come to us and we will find ways to make you useful and help you reach your full potential, together, as one big crew.” He lectured once more, before exhaling loudly, “It would be a shame to see you leaving mister Lipowitz, as I hopefully made clear, even if you fail in your research, we will be there to pick you up and stand with you, again and again, time after time, because in my opinion, that is what friends and guild mates are for.” [break][break] Relaxing once more Bailin spoke once more: “I will stop my lecturing for this now; perhaps people would enjoy a little break as we have been talking a while now, as well as the fact that I have been speaking for a long, long time again and mister munchies could use a snack as he pointed out a while back. So, unless you all wish to continue I’d say… let us take a thirty minute break to get some food, relieve your bladders, stretch your legs and recollect our thoughts. That is of course, unless any of you have any pressing questions.” [break][break]

bittersweet. The class went from a few students to utter madness at the drop of a hat. It seemed that while she was not paying attention the guild mistress went and recruited an army. At least six new people shuffled in through that door and some of them seemed more than enthusiastic about it given the pushing. This brought back terrible flash backs of school from the other world, boy did she hate that place with a passion. It made her wonder why she was here right now in this classroom but she decided to stick it out for the extra intel on this world.
Eventually the chaos would subside though as they all seemed to become organized. Once that happened the questions started and boy were they rolling in like the tides. Some were about research, some were about leveling up in this world but the truly odd ones were about biology. Did the adventurers body still function like a normal body back in their world? That was a complicated answer as they had many functions that didn't need to be done to stay alive such as eating so regularly and even bathing.
Despite her curiousity about what all they had to do to maintain themselves here she never could have been so blunt like Autumn was. Not only was she able to say what she was thinking but she was able to dominate the entire rooms conversation for the time being. All of it however ended in her talking so much and so fast that she managed to pass out on the desk. That made about two to three people who were not sleeping in class. So far this whole Vylbrand thing didn't seem to be going too well for them considering they were losing peoples interest.
'I guess people don't like classes even in a game where they are optional.' she thought to herself. Leaning back in her chair she put her hands behind her head and her attention also wandered a bit. The guild mistress was pretty strong and she was a tank to boot which made her wonder if she could ask her for some tips. As much as she hated to admit it she was not used to being a melee support as she was an enchanter before she made the swap to the london servers. If only she had paid attention during all of the raids and battles she might have learned something be imitating it but she was often busy supporting the team.
Before she was even done processing the information about themselves someone brought up the issue of being trapped in a body. Before today she had never even thought about that as a possibility of the apocalypse, that there were men and women trapped in a body unfamiliar to them. It was a bad situation for some of them she supposed though she personally would have found it amusing. |

The class had been going on and the more he was in it the more he felt as if it was only going in circles considering the discussion. Everyone seemed passionate about the class or at least some seemed. His hellfire eyes shifted from left to right slowly to check on everyone and see how everyone was going. Apart from Saskia mentioning his entrance and no one really caring he was almost unnoticed. She had even said he was a nice tailor and that if anyone had requests they should run to him and ask him to craft at will. Who does she think she is? Doesn't she know I already have tons of work... Ah, she will never change will she.His eyes rolled as he sighed and rested his chin in both of his hands. Bailin and Saskia were the ones to answer all the questions of the newer comers. Something however made Mitsu' snap out of his daydreaming. Parasole started speaking about something he had never heard about. A player stuck in the opposite gender compared to what they were on the other side. A woman stuck in a male's body or a male stuck in a woman body. It was interesting and it made the boy think about such a fact. He was aware that players in MMORPG's and often male players would select a female character and he had never understood why. It always seemed logical to him to pick the same gender as he was in real life but it didn't seem everyone had the same opinion as he did and he accepted that fact. What about those players who were stuck in the opposite gender? Should they be left alone? Isn't there a way to get back to their normal gender? He wasn't sure but hope there was for the people in that kind of situation. That's kind of strange. It must be an odd situation to be in.He stayed silent, however he had his own question which had started growing in his mind. The inception of an idea, of an inquiry which he couldn't seem solve by his own. His slender arm slowly lifted in the air, stretching out slowly towards the ceiling. It seemed no one was speaking so his voice slowly elevated through the silence. "What would happen to someone in the academy who would leaveand then decide to become an enemy to the guild? How would you react to someone you cherished and is now a foe?"He let that to what it was and dropped his hand back onto the table as he leaned his head on the right side. His hellfire pupils scrutinized Bailin and then Saskia one after the other as a yoyo. Words: 458 Tags: Bailin Saskia parasole
