Death is only the beginning. It was obvious to Vayne that the others were trying to calm the situation. The redheaded girl, Capsule, as her partial status window indicated, tried to mediate and did a bit of flattery to calm him down. Even to someone like Vayne, who was usually socially indifferent, Capsule obviously was the kind of person that disliked confrontation. It was apparent at how she at first shied away from him the moment he smashed the watermelon, but here she was putting herself as an intermediary. "Thank you Miss Capsule. I may have taken some words in the wrong way, but I appreciate how you are trying to calm the situation, even if I made you uncomfortable." Vayne said to her, giving her a slight gentlemanly, butler-like bow. Then it was the lady Artisan's turn to apologize, which he took into account. Among the people here, Miss Adler was the one he probably insulted the most in the confusion of his misunderstood words. Then the woman, continued on about Mr. Weegee's idea of making a more life like puppet. "I totally agree, this current puppet of mine is so plain that its plain creepy. You have no idea how many times I have woken up in the middle of the night with this thing scaring me as it sat in the corner of my room." he said jokingly, but he was actually being serious that his puppet scares the living daylights out of him. With all that has transpired, Vayne realizes his fault, heard their words and took it to mind. They were right of course, there was no need to get heated at these people due to a misunderstanding that he had caused. Even the Mr. Weegee, who had been so busy with his work, chimed in and advised him to calm down. Vayne closed his eyes and fixed his glasses, buy pushing it up with his index and middle finger up the bridge of his nose. This little act always calmed him down, and as usual, it did not fail. As he opened his eyes, he felt refreshed and his mind was clear. His mood had gotten a lot better and he sheepishly put his left hand at the back of his head and smiled. "Yeah you guys are right," he said with a bit of mirth, "being in a foul mood during a festival sure was unbecoming of me, and I apologize.""Maybe someday I'll take you up on your offer to make a better puppet, although a life like puppet would probably creep me out more." he said giving a slight laugh, addressing both Weegee and Miss Adler. Capsule ran a hand through her hair as the atmosphere around her quickly went from heated to the casual one they had started with, before the Summoner had strolled in and smashed his watermelon. The little knot in the pit of her stomach eased up in relief, and she even flashed a small smile in Adler's direction. The older woman's smiling felt infectious, like a yawn. 'Speaking of yawns -' The redhead could not suppress the one welling up inside of her right now, and raised a hand to cover her mouth. This is what she got for staying up at odd hours of the night, but she couldn't help it. Her residence made a lot of creaking and groaning noises, which she often feared were caused by prowling thieves. It was hard to sleep when you thought someone was climbing up your balcony to slit your threat in the dead of the night.
"Weegee’s right though. A custom puppet…"
She squinted at the Guardian in mild confusion for a moment. Why were they suddenly so interested in Vayne's puppet? She tilted her head to the side now, sizing up the shoddily made puppet that attended the Summoner. It really could stand to be replaced. There wasn't much that was special about it, aside from its ability to move about on its own. And now they were talking about finding hair for it, though Capsule found herself a bit confused when Adler requested a facewood in the shape of a mask. "Uh…" This was definitely one of those things she was going to stay out of, and let the artists do their work.
Frankly, she wasn't even entirely sure why she was still standing here. She had her facewood, and people would be coming in droves soon enough. Their own stall needed looking after just as much as Weegee's. Adler looked like she was having so much fun, though, and Cap didn't want to bother her. Besides, their chat was interesting, even if she wasn't exactly sure what they were on about. One thing was for certain - a lifelike puppet would be really creepy, like something out of a cheap horror flick.
In fact, it reminded her of an old book about a family moving to a neighborhood that was filled with the “perfect” housewives; they were beautiful, docile, and submissive, to a rather disturbing degree. As the protagonist later learned, the neighborhood’s men association had replaced their wives with android counterparts, which were then programmed to be their ideal wife.
The men were a mixed group of artists and scientists, with their leader being a former Disney engineer, so the concept seemed plausible enough for a science fiction novel in the 70’s. In time, something like that could even become possible in the Unfounded Kingdom. The idea that someone could do that to a person they had once loved sent chills down her spine. ”I don’t think I’d like a lifelike puppet, either,” she muttered to no one in particular. Traditional busts included the whole chest, but she could probably make one herself or commission another one if she really needed it. “Maybe someday I'll take you up on your offer to make a better puppet, although a life like puppet would probably creep me out more.” Adler nodded. “That was the idea.” If Mechanics could animate even just the puppet’s eyes and mouth, that would make quite a distraction. A fake army of puppets would be a brilliant tactic, though it wasn’t one they could use more than once unless they managed to make something so good that they would fool themselves. Terminator!Realizing she probably ought to sit still and let Weegee take her measurements or whatever he needed to do, Adler sat down in the chair Capsule had vacated. ‘I should probably tie my hair up.’ She thought. “Sorry, hang on a moment.” She opened the Elder Tale interface and searched through her inventory. The Guardian found what she was looking for quickly. A thin paintbrush with a wooden handle that was about a foot long appeared in her hand, and Adler used it to twist her hair into a tight bun. There was nothing she could do about the strands that were too short to be pulled back, but at least the Woodcrafter had a clear view of her neck and shoulders now. [attr="class","stats"] Notes My God. I thought everyone had been saying the wrong thing. It's Woodcrafter, not carver! *facepalm*

I GET ALONG WITH THE VOICES INSIDE OF MY HEAD
Weegee sighed as he looked over Adler's features. "No one ever wants the life-like puppet. Anyways, I can easily do a full bust Adler." He would place a large log, one nearly as thick as his own body onto the stall's counter. From there, he quickly set to work as he spoke. "You have a pleasing form, so I'll try and capture it as best as I can. Like i did with Capsule's Facewood, I tried to capture some of the bets qualities that a person possesses, much like how her hair shows off her face's latent beauty when it sets like it is now." he didn't even look up as he focused all of his physical attention onto the wood before him. For a project like this, he really would need to be completely in tune with his muse. "Now, if you don't mind Adler, you can take a seat, it'd make it easier for me to capture your image in a larger craft than normal."
Looking up briefly he started from the top, carving out the basic shape of her head as he ignored the rest of the world around him. Well, aside from Adler, Capsule and Vayne of course. He would still talk to them if they added him into their conversation, however, he would never once look at anyone other than Adler, much the same as when he was crafting the facewood for Capsule. He would make sure to detail her hair just like he had Capsule's, taking his time to try and replicate her form as closely as possible. He just, well, wasn't looking forward to the final part. He really didn't want to seem like a pervert, but hey, work was work, right?

Death is only the beginning. Vayne took in a deep breath as Weegee got to starting on making a bust for Adler. Vayne had to admit it, Adler was an attractive woman. "Not like I would actually admit it out loud, she might think I'm a perv again." Vayne thought as he turned away from Adler, as she put up her hair in a tight bun using a paintbrush. The paint brush looked oddly appropriate on her, as if it was a jeweled hairpin rather than a brush. As Vayne turned around, he saw that there were bits and pieces of left over wood lying on the floor, which seemed to be left over material from the Facewoods that Weegee had done. "If you don't mind Weegee, I would like to clean up here for a bit." he said as he ordered his puppet to pick up the larger pieces of wood from the ground. The puppet creaked and clacked as it moved around, picking up the trash. Vayne was using this as an excuse to practice a bit on his puppet manipulation. He was a low level puppeteer, so every little practice counts. Has he moved his fingers around, directing the puppet, he turned sideways to look at Capsule. She was a peculiar one, Vayne thought, as he sent to puppet to throw the trash into a bin. She looked like a nice person, although she also had that air of peculiarity around her. She seemed to be the sort that would avoid confrontation, but would have never back off if was absolutely necessary. Not to mention that she was quite lovely in her own right too. Then Vayne started to get thinking. "They teased me a lot that I may be a prostitute, but it seems like Mr. Weegee has a lot more game than I do." He thought, fighting the urge to giggle. Vayne calmed himself down and turned his attention to Capsule. "So, Miss Capsule, what sort of crafter are you?" he said as he set his puppet on a bit of an auto pilot, the puppet now borrowing a broom and started sweeping around the place. "Miss Adler is a Artisan, Mr. Weegee is a Woodcarver, I am an Alchemist, I'm curious as to what you do." Vayne said as he leaned against the stall, trying to start a conversation while Weegee was busy ogling at Adler. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

It was clear that he wasn't just making a face; the log he was whittling away at would have made that too comical. 'So he's making part of her torso, as well?' That was the only thing Capsule could make heads or tails out of. She glanced at Adler, who had put her hair up in a bun and stuck a paintbrush through it. 'Uh...' No one could ever accuse Adler of not being a resourceful woman.
This all felt weird enough for Capsule to fidget from side to side, like a child dragged along by their mother with nary a way to entertain themselves. Vayne, at least, found a way to keep himself preoccupied; he was now on wood clean up detail. The thought made Cap snort a little to herself. Still, being a puppeteer must be interesting. You were never alone when you had your little wooden companion at your side. Capsule herself just had...well, her herbs and potions. It wasn't much by way of socializing, but it mixing potions was a good way to keep yourself occupied for hours on end.
She was staring idly at the man's puppet when he spoke up, directing a question about crafting classes in her direction. "Oh, me?" It was a little surprising to learn that the man was an Alchemist. She had suspected something more scholarly, like the Scribe crafting class. "I'm just a Pharmacist; nothing special. I make the healing and status effect potions. They're useful for dungeons and soloing, I guess, but many people prefer to be daring or have a healing class to help them. So it's not as useful as some other crafting options…" Her second choice for a crafting class would have been Tailoring, which seemed to be lacking in an active playerbase, though there were even less Pharmacists about. Like a certain tailor, she too could charge exorbitant prices, if potions were in such big demand as armor or accessories and Vanity Clothing. 'But then no one would want to buy from you.'
The redhead fell silent for a moment, absorbed in her own thoughts. Her crafting class would help her and friends out, at least. Who cares about the others? If they wanted her business, that was find by her. If not, sucks to be them. She gave her head a slight shake to break away from her inner thoughts, turning her eyes to rest on Vayne. "What exactly does an Alchemist do, if you don't mind me asking? I know they can make magical accessories and Magitech, but surely that can't be all there is to it, right?" The accessories and Magitech possibilities were cool (who wouldn't want a Magitech taser?!), though there had to be other things she had overlooked. All it required was for one to think outside of the box, much like a few of the other crafting classes when it came to researching new things.

There was nothing for her to do! Weegee was busy working of course, and she personally hated being interrupted while she concentrated on something. What surprised her was the sight of Vayne and Capsule who inexplicably had their heads together (figuratively speaking) chatting about something Adler wasn’t too keen to involve herself with. She started humming, wordlessly so that nothing moved except her belly where she controlled her breathing. She once heard that singers shouldn’t actually move their shoulders because it was a sign that they weren’t using the right technique. Something about projection, she thought. Meanwhile, her feet tapped, wriggled, shimmied, and bounced. Since Weegee only needed her upper body to keep still, she focused all her energy into random movements and keeping her waist up from moving too much like a five year old child who’d been told not to move her head. Adler watched Weegee as he occasionally looked up from his work to check something on Adler. He was slim and pale, with dark hair and green eyes. Save for that last feature, they had nothing in common. Her hair was pale and long, and her skin was a bit more tanned in color. The way he focused intently on his work was something she understood though, and that was enough of a common connection for her. Ugh. Did Capsule’s take this long? Granted hers was a smaller sculpture than what Adler commissioned, but still. It felt like she’d been sitting down for over an hour, though realistically, it couldn’t have been more than a few minutes. She squirmed in her seat, massaging her legs to keep the circulation going. Hurry up, she thought, mentally willing the wood to simply melt away. [attr="class","stats"] Notes Running out of things to do. No wonder Indy got bored.

I GET ALONG WITH THE VOICES INSIDE OF MY HEAD
Weegee continued his work on Adler's bust, carving the details down as he noticed she was doing her best to remain still. Stopping for a moment, he looked between her and what he had accomplished over the course of around thirty minutes. It was as near a replica of her head as he could manage, bun and paintbrush included. "Well Adler, for now you can easily stand up and move around. The remaining details aren't that hard to finish just with simple glances every now and then." Returning once more to his craft, he began to cut down the wooden log to a more workable shape, a rough outline of her upper torso. His face was slightly tinted red at the idea of having to carve her chest, though he wasn't entirely sure of just why. Either way, he would continue his work for about another hour before it was finished. Though, once he was don, he would hang up a 'Closed' sign in front of his stall as he started picking up the wooden shavings from his latest work.
"As much fun as carving can be, it really wears down on one in large doses. I think I'll just go and enjoy some of the festivities myself. Catch you at your stall sometime later then Adler and Capsule?" He smiled broadly at the two of them as he packed up, grabbing the wooden mask of himself he had made previously. And if Vayne was still there by then, he would include him in his departure. "Well, see you all then, and despite the horrible start we had, nice to meet you Vayne."

Death is only the beginning. Vanye nodded in interest as Capsule explained that she was a Pharmacist, giving her a bit of a grin. "Hmm Pharmacist huh? I can think of a lot of fun things a pharmacist can do that a healer class can't" he said, chuckling a bit. Vayne could imagine her brewing potions, poisons and other things that may affect the game greatly. "Pharmacists are cool." he said as he gave her a thumbs up. Vayne was genuinely glad for Capsule's interest in his crafting subclass. Alchemy is fun to do and the possibilities in making the coolest stuff gives him the shivers. "Hmm well capsule, we can make Magitech and Magic accessories, but we can also invent magical tools like the Mana Flashlight. And apparently we can also make things that can be used by other crafters. I myself am doing research on food additives to make imbue some magic in food." he said with a laugh. "I mean, in theory we can make Lightsabers, so food additives should be a walk in the park right?" Vayne paused as he heard Weegee's statement. "Oh so you are closing shop then?" Vayne asked as he turned to Weegee. "Well thank you for the time Weegee, and I also enjoyed myself even though we had a bit of a rough start." Vayne gave them all the warmest smile he can muster and bowed. "I am glad to have met all of you, and I hope to meet you again sometime." CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

It was incredibly awkward for Adler and the onlookers. For one, she couldn't help but glance at the real thing to compare Weegee's interpretation. '...I think I will just…' Looking away entirely was a good idea, and it was rude to stare or ignore the person you were speaking with. Besides, it looked like Weegee would be busy for quite a while. She turned her attention back to Vayne, though every once in a while she would sneak a peek at Adler and her wooden counterpart. That was something she did less frequently as the Alchemist spoke more and more.
"I keep forgetting about stuff like flashlights and lamps. I honestly think more of homunculi and fake gold when the word "alchemist" comes to mind. It doesn't help that I never bothered to study the crafting class, heh." It was one she had somewhat considered, though not seriously. Tailoring would have been her second choice, as she was a very squishy class. She would need healing pots and decent armor for those times when a healer or tank wasn't around to help her. And, Magitech, while helpful, would better benefit the more combat oriented classes. It would be better for her to request items from an alchemist than attempt to struggle to make things on her own, especially when she had little idea of what to do with the class.
"You're making food additives? With what - mana powder?" It sounded like a joke when she asked, but the more she thought about it… A food additive could be very damn useful, and if the man was researching something like mana powder, she could expand on his work and make something like mana potions. A light bulb went off in her head, and her eyes filled with excitement. Mana potions could be very handy indeed, and easier to use than skills like Mana Trance in the heat of battle. "That sounds promising, Vayne. I hope it goes well for you." The thought of researching mana potions made her feel deviously revolutionary. It wasn't very big in the large scale of things, but could elevate her status a bit within the crafting branch of Pharmacists. 'That's a lot of attention, though.' Being the center of attention was a rare occurrence for her, and she liked to keep it that way.
The conversation died down after that, and it soon became apparent that it was time for Cap and Ad to return to their own stall. Weegee had completed his...wooden sculpture of Adler and her bust, and was now busying himself with cleaning up wood shavings. "See ya, Weeg and Vayne. It's been...something." And by "something" she meant "exhausting." She still had to handle customers when they got back to their stall, and rather hoped business would be slow. 'I think I've had enough excitement for the day,' she thought as she waved for Adler to join her. If she’d had any idea of how the day was going to turn out, she would have prepared herself in advance.

Wrote 239 words When Weegee gave his permission for her to move, she literally jumped for joy. “Finally!” Seeing Vayne and Capsule preoccupied with something she didn’t care for however, she went back to painting the stall. It wasn’t long after that Weegee finished his work and announced the stall’s closing however. “But I just finished!” She cried. What was going to happen to the structure now? ‘Oh well. I suppose I got a bit of experience out of it, at least.’ Adler pouted as she packed her things, though she brightened up quickly when she saw the finished product. “That’s beautiful!” It really was, considering he was a low levelled Woodcrafter. He had put hair against her wishes, but she supposed that was for the best. She didn’t know where she would find a wig anyway. “Great detail.”While Weegee closed up, Adler hovered between him and Capsule. Ordinarily, one would describe her as someone who seemed afraid to be left behind, but given their personalities, she wouldn’t have been surprised if the ginger felt like she was being guarded. It didn’t help that Adler did have a skill that was perfect for it either. When Weegee was done, he greeted them all in turn. “You better visit!” She said to Weegee in reply. When Capsule waved to get her attention, Adler nodded to show she saw her, then bid her own farewells. “See you lot around. Happy Chinese new year!”[attr="class","stats"] Notes Where's my angpao then? :D
