An old, abandoned warehouse sits in the middle of London's market district. A young mechanic, Hirosame, rearranges some materials in a certain order, and then walks back outside. He puts a sign up in front of the warehouse, made out of a large plank of wood, with black paint on it. On it, the paint says to the world...

"WELCOME TO THE HANDY WRENCH"

Taking a seat back behind a small counter, Hiro put his feet up onto the table and watched the door, slowly gazing at it. He hoped that a customer would arrive soon enough, as he wanted to start making some sort of an income, as well as increase his mechanic skill level. He needed it to be higher, if he and Renai were to make the airship in the near future. He sighed, and settled back into the chair, watching the door.

Welcome! Hirosame (that's me) is presently a level 11 Mechanic, so I am able to make anything for anyone, as it stands! By all means, come on in! All requests will need some sort of posting, whether it's on my own or in a group with others, as it should be apparent by now. However, I'm not just here to offer my services as a mechanic to solely create what's already able to be made, but I'm also open to research threads for anyone who may need a mechanic. Yup! That's right! Your very on mechanic ~~bitch~~ helper to get you on your way! My belief is that if we can't have the best stuff, why don't we make it? My hours are limitless, seeing as we're all trapped here, and I'm willing to work for a small fee, as the posts themselves will generate enough money for us to get along.

Renai's eyes flicked from the sign up front to the old walls before ducking his head and waving hello. "I wonder if you would... research how to make locks? I have a few ideas that would require something like that and it all seems a bit... out of reach for a woodcrafter like me."

Hiro looked up, and smiled as the friendly face of his woodcrafting counterpart walked into the building. Hiro took his feet off the table, and stood up, nodding to his friend. It's very comforting to see someone you know walk into your shop as your first customer. Upon hearing Renai's request, he simply nodded and smiled again. "Well, if it's locks, then I should be able to make that easily. It shouldn't take me all that long, and I'll be sure to let you know when it's done." I can't imagine this taking more than 2-3 posts, of 500 each. This being said, as a level 11 Mechanic, this should be pretty easy. I'll get to work on it right away, and I'll let you know when it is all set and good to go.

I'm here to request a research. I'm planning to use a machine that can change the temperature of the area around it.
Due to the nature of the machine, it'll probably require both mechanical and alchemical parts, it's fine if you craft the mechanical side only.
The only prefference I have is that it isn't large. It would probably break the mood/immersion of where it's gonna be used.
The ideal range of effect would be medium to large, but it's fine if the result is a small area of effect, as long as I can upgrade it later.
