Saskia had sent a message out to a few select members of the academy and summoned the cadets to the lower levels of St. Pancreas station. She rode in on horseback, keeping Icarus at a steady gait as she wandered through the open terrain of the fields. She shifted through the windsor greatwoods and passed within the outer walls of Londiminium. The city was bursting and teaming with life as the boisterous adventurers crowded the streets and Saskia’s sapphire eyes cut through the crowd taking notice of a muscular werecat hammering away and tempering steel over a furnace. In the distance, a graceful Fox tail woman could be heard humming as she began knitting a pair of gloves; no doubt to help her endure the harsh winters that were ahead.
Icarus bobbed his head up and down as Saskia wobbled on top of him and they cut through the crowd, dispersing sevral hobbling dwarfs that stammered about the streets in a drunken manner, reeking of booze and vomit. The smell made Saskia cringe as the shook her head in a disgusted manner.
There was no doubt about it, she was making her way down into the San Pancreas Substation. She pushed back the strands of flourescent pink hair as she carefully allowed Icarus to trot around the corner and careful leap down the stairs to a flatter and longer surface, then jump once more to head down unto the lower levels. She shook around wildly as she absorbed the shock from the jumps, but she was confident in her war horse as he was much more mature now and after training with hurdles in the open field. Mastering jumps like this had been a cinch for him.
She unscrewed a canteen, taking the pleasures of a subtle sip of water as she continued downward into the much lower levels of the sub staation, then headed far to the west along the rail of the train tracks. It seemed like an odd premonition; to find a horse just trotting along on a pair of train tracks. However, most of the trains were wrecked or abandoned, so it made little difference, until the city had been restored through the efforts of refined alchemy and Magitech.
As she explored deeper into the darker halls of the tunnel, she came upon it; The deep nefarious hole in the wall, where bits of broken electrical wire sparked above sporadically. She heard rumors that it led deep into the underground of Londiminium as she was curious to find out what secrets lied underneath the ancient royal city.
She was a natural explorer at heart and decided to pick those whom she felt would be able to rise to the occasion for this expedition.
She chose Luiniel, a light haired Samurai who was diligent in nature and trained rigourously.
She also trusted the expertise of the Professor Tessia, who had expressed interest in studies and Alchemy. Perhaps this expedition would help enlighten or inspire her to achieve great heights.
And last, but certaily not least, was Sabbath, a wandering Bard who was also a cavalier as well and Saskia had brought out for the sake of helping him get some training and also to learn about the supportive skills the Bards wielded in their arsenal. For now, she would sit and wait for their arrival. Hoping that they understood the coordinates that she had sent them. In the mean time, she would patiently wait, as she drank from her canteen as she blinked curiously at the whole in the wall, wondering how far the depths would lead.

bittersweet. How was it that twice in one week she was asked to tag along side the guild master? Did she say or do something paticularly impressive that she was unaware of? The answer was most likely no but she liked to think that she did anyway. Sliding the sheaths of her katanas into place she checked over the rest of her gear to make sure it was all intact. Looking at it caused her to wrinkle her nose however as she realized she needed to upgrade badly, she would not make a great tank or damage dealer in this stuff.
Wandering out of her room she sighed and took a deep breath of the fresh air before her. The day was starting the same as it always did, with her wondering why she was being summoned. She went from having no one on the server to having what she considered to be a weird extended family. Sure she didn't know them as well as she would have liked but that could change at any time.
Today they were to meet Saskia in the underground; a place full of winding tunnels that were easy to get lost in. Great that was a real encouraging thought considering that if she could get lost then she would very easily. It was like the elder tale gods were not on her side today and she knew as she could feel it in her bones. It was like the feeling that something was going to go wrong today but she had no idea what.
Then again she had this omnious feeling ever since she got stuck in this game. Somehow her mind came to the conclusion that they ceased to exist in the other world or perhaps they had all died and were now wraiths trapped in this purgatory. It was a morbid thought but needless to say the idea crossed her mind. Whoa, look at that, with all the time she spent being morbid she managed to make it to the train station in a decent time without even realizing it.
Blinking her eyes, Lu was honestly surprised she remembered where she was going to begin with. Her sense of direction stopped when it involved following coordinates on an actual map. Looking around at the surroundings she noted that a bunch of crafters were coming and going from the underground. Not so long ago they had reclaimed a section of it and turned it into a crafting haven. Anyone who was any good could be found here from time to time she was told.
Marching her way inside, the first thing she noted was the stench of the place. It smelled like something was burning and just smokey in general which was very unpleasant to her nose. Wrinkling her face she pulled her collar up over the lower half of her face as she made her way to the tunnels. She was told they were going to be doing a bit of spelunking in the underground to see if they could find something the others missed; that much she did get from the messages.
It was honestly easy to find the guardian who summoned them all here however as she had pretty good hearing. Her fox ears twitched as the sound of a horseshoe echoed through the tunnels and allowed Lu to follow behind them effortlessly. The problem with that she noted howevver was that if she could follow the sounds then so could any sort of baddie that might be lurking down here with them. So long as it was not spiders she would be alright as fighting spiders was often dreadful.
She could recall in a past raid on the yamato server she almost cried and afk'd out. Even if they were not real her phobia was overwhelming at times. Luiniel wondered how that would adapt to her persona in this world as here she was strong enough to protect herself from anything of the sort.
'lo and behold, the samurai would stumble upon the guardian who seemed to have ridden her steed all the way down into the tunnel. Was it truly wise to bring a mount with you in constricting tunnels and passage ways? She would see she supoosed when they were inevitably ambushed by whatever lurked deep down in these tunnels.
"I guess the others are late? Mind bringing me up to speed with the objective here?" she asked. Without even so much as a hello she launched into the business aspect of what they were doing here. She was anxious, so much so that she forgot all mannerisms before asking her question. Chuckling aloud she shook her head, bowing to Saskia briefly. "Apologies. How are you doing, boss?" she asked with a smirk. |

Jason smirked as he didn't had to walk. He had to admit, that his strong combination of Tongue of Nature, being a druid and being an animal tamer was quite something. He couldn't believe how easy it was to make a horse to obey. Riding the horse on the rail road, Jason aka OG Loc had quite the good mood. " ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TO FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN CJ." " God damn it OG Loc, this is getting old!" The enerved grey wolf familiar barked back at his owner with quite a rage. Of course he didn't get the reference from another game and it didn't make it funny for the wolf even after the hundred time hearing it since they were following the rail tracks. Jason on the other side simply enjoyed annoying his familiar. With a laughter Jason continued to ride the horse back. " Ey yo, CJ, bring me the beat." Jason decied to kill some time and actually the little wolf seriously started to beat box just like the young male has taught him, while OG Loc now rapped just like the real OG Loc did, exactly the same lyrics, exactly immitating the same aweful voice OG Loc had... " Yeah, yeah, yeah homie it's your man OG Log here in the place Know what im sayin'? ima... ima about to bust it out for you a little somethin' like this, hey yo, hey yo,hey yo my man CJ yo, my man C-pdfvedfvplefv this is for you dog! OG! Let me hear you say OG! hey, hey it is Loc baby! it is Loc baby! its Loc, its Loc, Loc, no Joke, Loc, Loc, Loc I'm the man in the place, punch you in the face, a gun in my waste, It's Loc baby! Hey yo wassup Loc? its Loc, Loc, Loc , it's Loc, it's Loc, Loc, Loc, Loc, Loc Let me see you throw your hands in the air! and wave em' like you just don't care! let me, hear ye say, Loc is the man, Loc is the man It's Loc baby! Hey yo it's Loc baby! Hey Loc is the man! Loc is the man! It's Loc baby! Hey yo it's Loc baby! hey, hey, hey you ready for this man? it's OG Log here in the place, im gonna start low im gonna start that oxy for you brotha! hey yo, he yo its Loc baby, he yo its Loc baby he yo its Loc baby say OG! say OG! hey say OG! say OG! yeah, yeah, yeah baby!" [for reference how awefull it sounds]The whole noise was boosted by the tunnel, make this aweful sound even louder. Just as he finished, the horse sighed. " That was awefull." " I know horse." " I have a name." " Ryder?" " How many times do I have to tell you I AM NOT RYDER!!!" " Stop it you two." " ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN CJ!" " OH GOD DAMN IT SHUT UP." Jason hit the back of the head of the horse as he saw two figures a bit far away from them. It was more or less the meeting point, so Jason assumed that those were them. " Shut up you two now." " But you started all th-..." " .SH SH SH SH SH SH SH" " But..." " SH SH SH SH SH SH SH" " BUT..." " SH SH SH SH SH SH" Silently they arrived at the meeting point. " Mornin ladies." Jason said with a smile and nodded slowly as a form of greeting.

Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 The cleric couldn't help but sigh and shake his head and sigh as he followed Og Loc down the railway. It was awful how bad he sounded, the wolf must have sounded better with the aid of the animal tongue skill but right where Parasole walked hidden in the shadows, it sounded awful. IT was ridiculous how bad people were without the idol and bard skill to boast their skills.
The cleric had been following the druid with quite some time, they had all been called beneath londinium at the behest of the their new guild leader who wanted a team of people to explore the underground levels of ST Pancreas Station, the unannounced crafting hub of the city. Rolling his eyes in response to the druid, he was sure that the animals could sense his presence, but didn't see reason enough to warn the druid due to his familiarity with the cleric.
As they made their way further towards the meeting area, the feeling of dread couldn't help but swept over the cleric. It was dark and unnatural down here and not only that but Parasole guessed that there would be plenty of monsters that loved the dark and that usually meant bugs, the creepy things seemed to be four times if not ten times the size of what they normally where and as the cleric shuddered at the thought, he was grateful he was a long range caster.
As Og Loc introduced himself, the cleric shook his head noticing that the guild leader Saskia wasn't the only one waiting for them. Stepping out of the shadows, he gave a slight wave while keeping an eye out for Autumn who was also due to make an appearance. He continued moving towards the group however keeping his distance from the horse, the cleric winked at Og Loc. "Nice tunes." He chuckled slighly, hoping that Saskia would explain what they had been called to do.

HP: 100 MP: 100 It was yet another early morning for Autumn. She couldn't help but spend her time enveloped in the books and stories that the locals had to offer; each one bringing her more knowledge than the next. At the current moment, she'd opened her eyes to notice darkness at every corner with her eyes more scratchy than usual. "Hmmn..Hmmn? Hm? HM?!" Thrusting face first into a flailing frenzy, Autumn screamed and whined as she attempted to reach for anything that could clear this darkness from her sight-- and that's when it happened. Shuffle shuffle! Knock! She opened her eyes once more and gasped, jolting up to a sitting position on her bed as she'd frantically looked around for the cause of her blindness; only to find her grimoire pushed to the side.
"Oh bollocks, I must have fallen asleep reading again. Hehe, yet another day for Ms. Autumn"
Starting her day off right, she went with the usual morning check up. "Books? Check. Knowledge?" She tapped her cranium "Check. Body?" Leaning down to sniff herself, she was met with a foul stench; one unbecoming of such a "refined" woman "Yeesh. Looks like I'll need to bathe today..It has been three weeks". It only took her a few moments to realize what she'd just said before pausing and looking down at the bed; ashamed of her own actions. "I really should stop this obsessive readi- oh wait, Auto-Clean"! The Auto-Clean didn't take much time to do what it had to do, she must have toggled it during her messing with the interface "I was beginning to think it was a bit odd I started to smell in a video game".
It didn't take much for her to get dressed and head out of the door; she wore the same thing every day after-all. The leader of this "Vylbrand Academy" had requested her presence in the underground tunnels of Londinium and whether or not she wanted to, she'd no choice but to comply. Lucky for her, John Lock and Para Solomon were also meeting the guild master via request; she just hoped they weren't getting removed. She needed, no, she craved that knowledge, a knowledge that only Vylbrand could provide. Arriving to the meeting area, she'd followed the directions exactly to the key. Solomon and Locke appeared to be as lovey dovey as usual and the fox-tailed samurai wasn't much of an entertaining specimen to look at. She couldn't help but think there was someone else to arrive but who, what, when, where, and why were a mystery to her. "E-Excuse me." She tightened her fists, scared she'd make a mistake. "Hello there.. anyone want to fill me in"? As she bowed and looked towards the crowd, she surveyed their respective levels and skills; hoping to gain a fraction of an idea of the troubles they faced on the way.

“So, you two are already on a mission outside Snowdonia?” Saskia asked as she pressed two fingers to her ear, speaking to Tessia and Sabbath via telepathy. “Very well, I’ll just dispatch another unit. I think I know who would be just right for the occasion.”
That was when Saskia had sent a request for the following members of the party that would soon arrive.
The first to arrive was the superior swordsman within their ranks. The Silver haired maiden of the mist. She was one of the exemplary and renowned members of their guild and was on par with the gallant knight, Pen Draig for the toughest warriors among the Protectorate division. Her crimson blood eyes was only matched by the beautiful sanguine blood that dripped down her blade after a beautifully executed single stroke of her nodachi. She was known for training diligently with little hours for rest, which is why she excelled over her peers in the art of combat. Her acrobatic abilities made her quite nimble and enabled her to reach more unaccessible areas quite easily. She also possessed the ability to repair weapons and certain variations of armor as a blacksmith.
Saskia watched as the woman approached and jumped right into the action, no doubt eager to learn the details.
“Doing well, Luiniel. Hope you’ve been getting some rest.” Saskia smiled amiably, before she went further on to add on to her words. “Patience. I would much rather wait for the others so I can brief you all at once.”
She nodded from her perch on the horse, who wagged his golden tail around. Saskia took the next few moments dismounting her horse as the metal of her steel armor rattled about. Her wolf ears fluttered to the sound of a second pair of horse hooves approaching.
“Oh, not this ninja again...here comes Snitch-face...” Icarus whined. “Saskia! I know your deaf ass hear me! Why you bringing these scrubs along? I thought I told you we don’t rats in our squad. And what you do? You bring Mickey Mouse ass right to the damn mouse hole. This a damn shame...”
The young druid who commanded both beasts and spells rode atop a horse and casually approached the group. He was a bit of a wary spirit, however, he offered much in terms of numbers and support and his tongue of nature skill was valuable for their travels, as was his healing abilities. His curative specialties focused on healing over time spells which were great use early on where damage suffered was moderate at best. He also could provide a good stock of pharmaceuticals if they were in need of restorative potions to renew their health or mana reserves.
Saskia smiled at the kindred spirits of the Druid and his wolf and waited for the rest of the party to arrive.
“Hello, Mr. OG Loc, glad you could make it. I see you brought CJ along for the ride. That should increase our numbers. ”
The vibrant red and white school uniform that appeared behind him would be recognized by Saskia’s sapphire gems. It was Parasole, the companion Saskia made in a lucious field of flowers as they shared secrets and it was later privately revealed to Saskia about the woman’s true nature. They had forged a bond over this beacon of trust as they laughed about various social talks, mostly about boys. She was one of the guilds few clerics and therefore, she was vital for her higher burst healing capabilities, should dangerous situations arise. She also was skilled at preparing meals for long journeys.
She raised a brow as Parasole mentioned tunes and eyed the Druid.
“It’s a pleasure, Parasole.” Saskia grinned politely, as she turned our head to OG Loc. “Don’t tell me you’re thinking about becoming a bard and doing rap battles with CJ in the class room....” She smirked.
Last but not least for this brilliant endeavor was the analytical angel, Autumn Springfield, the admirable knowledge whore of the group know for her bright colored hair that matched her...ill favored topics of discussion. Her bright blue eyes shined brightly amidst the lighting from the blinking light in the tunnel. She was the guild’s second highest enchanter, next to the mage Myrddin, from what Saskia witnessed, the support they were able to offer in battle was sometimes equivalent to the strength of two men when they worked in parties that have a mass of numbers. However, her most brilliant talents were of keen observation due to her Scholar abilities, which helped her scan the enemy forces and gain intel about their opposition. Also, she had a key ability for this expedition, being one of the guild’s scribes, she could record data about what they learned throughout their ventures.
Saskia chuckled at the hint of nervousness in the woman’s voice. She returned the bow, reciprocating the woman’s gesture before speaking.
“Glad you could make it, Autumn...I feared you might have passed out on the way, or that maybe you got buried in a tomb of books...” Saskia chuckled.
She then turned her eyes to focus on the hole in the wall, gazing into the dark tunnels.
“Well, seeing as you all made it. I’m going to give you a short briefing. We have an exploration quest, however, there is a level limit designated upon the quest. The information on this underground sanctum is unknown.” Saskia muttered as she weaved her fingers though a transparent interface menu sending out invites to the various party members that surrounded her.
Afterwards she would summon a digital map that would show that the tunnels were uncharted and void of information.
“Each of you have been selected for your specific set of talents. Luiniel is designated squad leader for this operation. She is both nimble and will also be in charge of weapon and armor maintenance. Luiniel, I’ll leave our formation placement up to you. "
“I shall support her when necessary as she sees fit. My horse Icarus shall be carrying our supplies along the way. We have the raw materials for what we need. Each of the satchels that adorn his body is marked with your names and various wares you may need for your crafts. As expected, I will not be riding him into combat because of this. “
“As for you, Ms. Autumn. You are our intel gatherer for this arrangement. You also have duties as a scribe to record data and submit a thorough bestiary, so that we can update our records for the academy. We need to know everything. Strengths, weaknesses, skills, animation times, cooldowns. I hope that isn’t too much too handle. Also, we need to have first hand information written down about whatever information we discover within the depths. If there are artifacts, I’d like to know what kind and how old approxiamately. If there are any texts. I want to have an idea of what language. Also, as our enchanter, we will be requiring your full support to keep us aligned in good favor should we engage enemies down below. “
“OG Loc, as a druid you’ll be prioritizing healing between the group and keeping everyone up to par. Also employing your wolf to add either additional damage or to pull the beasts into combat. Your tongue of nature skill also grants us the use of having communication with certain creatures that may or may not lurk within. Whether or not they will be willing to cooperate is up to you. Also as you are a studying pharmacist, I expect you to employ those talents and sharpen your skills. We might run into incidents where mana potions or health potions may be necessary. “
She then turned her head to face Parasole.
“Parasole, you’re our teams most vital asset. In terms of emergency situations, you hold a bit of the trump card in restorative capabilities over OG Loc. I’m not quite sure whether your housekeeping abilities will be of use, however, we may be on this expedition for days, possibly even weeks. That being said you have the raw materials to make meals, otherwise we’d all be in a weakened state. I suggest we all ration our food carefully as well. I know it can be tempting to enjoy a bountiful feast, but tht’s not what we’re here for. “
“We are here to uncover the rumors behind the secrets of this underworld.” She stated.
“Now, Luiniel. We’ll have to go ahead and lower our levels to five for this quest. It will limit our skills for now, but it is a prerequisite for the quest. However, it seems this quest has series so it may get harder as we venture forth.”
“Alright, now that you all have been briefed. I shall leave the rest of this quest in Luiniel’s hands. “
"We're suppose to be having a few more arrive..." Saskia muttered. "Hopefully, they will arrive soon. We're burning enough daylight as it is, some of the more powerful monsters come out at night..."

"Damn I'm late! What am I gonna do? What if the Headmaster became disappointed in me? I have to move, faster if I may!" These are the words forming in Fubuki's mind as he ran across the busy streets of Londinium towards the St. Pancras station. He had not been late a single time towards his commitments back on the world he was from, and he was late in the first mission that he should be attending? He thought that he should be ashamed of himself. And that he became a lot stagnant in the past months, lazing off and living through his slim budget. But there came a time that he noted that he was not doing fine. The people around him were leveling up and gaining a lot of money in the process, and he then thought that he should get a job. And so he landed up in the Vylbrand Academy, desirous that with his affiliation with a guild he could hone his skills in fighting and also in tailoring. His first job in the Academy was to investigate the subway system to gain some information regarding the place. He accepted the job, knowing that in that case he could train up to become the greatest spellblade that could exist in this world. In that way he would become rich enough to set up a good tailoring shop for himself. Well, if this expedition would be successful for him to gain a lot of experience and gold. He passed by the busy marketplace bustling with people from all levels of life. Fubuki then wondered if he could carve up a good future within this land. But his thinking stopped at that as he smiled, and then thought that he could absolutely do that. He thought that in this world, there should be equality of all players who were in here as they were all level 1, so that they have equal opportunities to strike big in this land. The only difference was who could strike greater. He thought that so long as he had the will, he could get everything he wanted in this world, and only industriousness mattered here. And so he thought that he should strive harder for his dreams here, and when he would return to the real world, he would know what would he do to save his family from poverty. But for now, he thought that he should hurry up before the group would leave. He had arrived at the St. Pancras Station, but he saw that there was apparently no tunnel in the area from his point of view. He then searched deep inside the station, and after a few minutes, he discovered the tunnel leading down what seemed to be an abandoned subway. "Bingo!" His childish, joyful voice reverberated within the area devoid of any other creature or adventurer. Now with this passage, he should be near to his destination, where the Headmaster and some other guildmates were waiting for him. "It sure would be a nice day for me! Headmaster, I'm coming!" He shouted cheerfully as he descended the steps hurriedly, his sword unsheathed on his left hand, and his crystal ball on his right hand. The five adventurers within the subway would see someone running towards them, and from the outline of the body, the figure would be that of a human. If they carried a light with them, segment by segment, the figure would then be revealed as a human boy with short blond hair carefully arranged in a short ponytail, and if possible, there could be seen some outlines on his hair that looked like enlarged snowflakes. The boy was wearing a white fur-lined hooded capelet over a white coat, shirt, and tie, short white trousers, and white boots with gray socks. Wielding a sword on his left hand, and a crystal ball on his right hand, the boy's game build should be of a spellblade sorcerer, and since he was not wearing metal armor of any kind, it could be assumed that he was of an agile build. The boy's face beamed with a smile as he shouted, "Hey guys, I'm sorry I'm la... WAAAAAHHHH!" That shout though was because he had stubbed his left foot on a rock, which made him stumble to the ground. He then got up, used his hands to remove the dust off his body, and continued to run towards them. When he was near to the group, he stopped, and then, after some pants, he then said, his smile still retained on his face, "Did I miss anything?"COMMENTS
First mission in Vylbrand Academy... and late in arrival. Fortunately the subway train was not leaving yet. I hope this won't turn out to be a disaster even when I stumbled in meeting with them~!

Lance had heard rumors in the alliance about a raid that was going to happen and he wanted to participate even though he wasn't in the respective guild. He put the raid off until a few minutes before the raid started before packing up and getting ready to head down to the meeting place. He walked through Londinium with his hands in his pockets as he walked. His relaxed pace didn't help that he was already running late. The sky was a bright blue and the air was warmer. It was a change in scenery from bitter cold to the darkness of Snowdonia. He thought back to the other day were he helped a cleric fight off some penguins "The cleric... interests me... funny..." he thought to himself as he proceeded onward.
He was wearing his black leather like jacket with the two silver roses on each of the collars and his normal pants. He carried a staff that was made of wood, the same staff that he had been carrying since he first started the game. He did not have enough money to buy a new staff so he would have to stick with it for the time being.
Lance arrived at the scene of the raid with his hands in his pockets still. He slowly approached the group with a cal expression on his face. "Hey." he said as he approached the highest level person "I am Lance Knighthunter of the House of Crowns, I wish to accompany your guild on this raid." he said with little emotion in his eyes as he nodded as gripped his staff at ready. This would be a perfect chance to level up as well as get to know more people and friends, there was no way he would pass this up.

Saproth wasnt sure if he should reveal himself as he stood up the brick stairway close to where Saskia was briefing about five or more party members. He had arrived just about when Saskia spoke about OG Loc, another Druid and Pharmacist. In his embarrassment, Saproth conflicted with himself if he should even make an appearance. After all, what would the Head Mistress do with another Druid exactly the same as him... well, not exactly the same... Saproth might contend Loc was actually better.
Swallowing up his embarrassment, he took a deep breath and was about to take a step forward when another team member arrived stumbling towards them.
Saproth quickly halted himself and let the person get his time.
Finally, Saproth walked up to them, looking around the area... "Platform Nine and Three-Quarters..." Saproth smiled to himself as he remembered a book he read before getting stuck in this world. "Greetings all." Saproth gave a small bow. "I hope my late arrival did not cause much an inconvenience."

» Piper was at the market; she had come to buy food but had been caught up flirting with the shopkeeper. She was a cute Lander, short and with a freckled face. She giggled softly at Piper's jokes; the conversation seemed to be going well, all in all.
"So, Piper," she said, blushing slightly and twisting her curly hair with her finger, "my shift ends in a few hours. You have any plans for tonight?" Seemed like the girl had decided to take some initiative and disrupt the small talk with the question that was on both of their minds; Piper was appreciative, to be sure.
"Hmm, I don't think so..." Piper made a show of pulling up the calendar on her user interface to show her evening was cleared up for a nice dinner date with a cute girl. Imagine Piper's surprise when it was, well, not. Furthermore, her time at that very instant was not open, either.
"Oh... Oh shit. Uh, sorry, I've got to go." Her first major mission as a member of the Vylbrand Protectorates and Piper had forgotten all about it! Piper did not look back at the Lander, she did not have time to, but she figured that she was not going to get a second chance at that date. At this point she just hoped she could avoid punishment from Saskia.
As Piper sprinted in front of St. Pancras Station, she blitzed her way into the underground until she found the medium-sized party that had already congregated there. She recognized most of them, but there were a few new faces.
"Sorry I'm late! I was caught up, uh, doing a thing. Yeah." Piper blushed slightly; if she admitted that she had forgotten about the raid and spent her afternoon flirting she would never hear the end of it, that was for sure. Piper already had a long list of things she would never hear the end of and did not wish to add to that list.

hen she had received the message for this expedition, she wasn't quite sure how to treat it. On one hand, it was a perfect research opportunity for her but on the other, it meant putting herself in more danger. Ever since the incident with the grain village, she had tried to avoid any form of conflict. Be it either verbal or physical. It had truly opened her eyes, to see how much different an MMO could be when you saw it through your own eyes instead of from behind a monitor. Despite all that, however, she knew she'd have to face this irrational fear eventually. If she wanted to get stronger in this world and if she wanted to truly learn to protect people she would have to learn how to get stronger. Sighing somewhat, she finished getting dressed by sliding her witch hat onto her head. Rinee was perfectly aware that she was running late, but she was in no hurry to go sprinting towards her death and a truckload of new faces... Sighing, she put on her winning smile and left the room at the tavern she had been staying at recently. Staff in hand, Rinee began to walk towards the underground. In the real world, Rinee had lived in London, so a lot of the locations were easy enough for her to find and recognise. Therefore, it did not take her long to arrive in the underground tunnels. Finding the group however did take her a lot longer. With a small sigh, she eventually rounded the corner to see all the faces gathered there. Shrugging somewhat, she approached them without a word to, hopefully, join the group unnoticed. Most of the faces, she did not know. However she did recognize a few of them from around the academy but she wasn't acquainted with any of them on a first name basis. A variation of different classes and levels were here. Ranging from level one to the sixties. Rinee sighed again as she stood at the edge of the group, trying to be inconspicuous. Inventory:

Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
Saskia began to tighten the straps of the various assortment of gear bags on her horse. She wasn’t quite sure how many supplies they might need, but the magic storage bags were quite neat for handling a surplus of items. She was amazed at the nature of these things that seemed like bottomless holes to the rest of the world. They made excellent purses for women as they could hold nearly every feminine product known to man with ease.
As she secured the last strap in her check, she turned around to face a blonde haired and blue eyed boy that looked a bit too childish and soft for the rigors of this mission. Saskia raised a curious brow at him and frowned after watching the poor child trip and fall on his face. How terrible. She had expected him to nearly start crying, but when he simply got up brandishing a pearly white smile, it made Saskia smirk as she felt the contagious grin overwhelm her and feel her heart with a soft glow.
“Ah, one of our newer faces in the Academy. I’ve seen your paperwork. A Sorceror who specializes in ice magic. Also you have the ability to manipulate the flow of aggro against your opponent to a person that you desire. That’s rather useful. Also, you’re a tailor as well, which should remedy our need for repairs on certain peoples gear that blacksmithing won’t be able to assist with. We have kits in the storage supply mounted on my horse.”
Saskia’s words were cut off by the presence of an unknown face she had never seen before.
“Yes, can I help you?” She smiled amiably as the human man with spiky hair had approached her and then proceeded to introduce himself. “Ah, so the House of Crowns then? Well, I must say congratulations and welcome to our alliance. I’m not quite sure of your abilities as you aren’t in the academy files like the cadets here are. Mind filling us in on what you can bring to the table along the way?” She grinned, welcoming him into the fold.
She then turned her head looking past him and noticed a timid male with emerald hair walking over and looking quite guilty. She approached them and gave a quick bow. He seemed to be shooting OG Loc, the other Druid, a few gazes.
“Oh, our newest academy student. Welcome, Saproth. I’ve only seen a few things about your file. You have a snare, a healing spell, and you are also able to employ your puppet in combat? That’s rather interesting as I have never seen such a thing. Should certainly be interesting.“
Saskia rested her hands on her hips. A few minutes burned by and still there were academy students that had been missing from the group.
“Well, I certainly hope they aren’t out playing hooky at some dive bar...” Saskia muttered as she looked down the tunnel.
She saw a blur of pink fuzz running towards her and the others in a mad sprint. As she skidded towards the group, she let out a burst of words in a heartfelt apology for being late.
“Well, I certainly would have expected better from one of our higher level academy students, eh Piper? I certainly hope you aren’t as slow as that when it comes to combat.” Saskia chuckled. “Well, in all seriousness class, Piper here actually has a pretty useful set of skills. She can taunt just like me and Lu, and she has an ability that makes her blows more chaotic as she defeats enemies. Put that in tandem with her Area of Effect skills and well....let the bodies hit the floor after that. I’m pretty sure you’ve grown to learn more skills since then. "
"However, since this mission hs a level five cap, you’ll only be alowed to use 4 skills I’m afraid. So choose your fourth skill wisely. As for your idol skill, it works just as Fubuki’s and technically since both have 30 second durations and 60 second cooldowns, aggro control shouldn’t be much of a problem considering, should we encounter any bosses. Also your tailoring skills would be required for repair as well.”
She gave a firm nod as she noticed in the corner of her eyes the silver violet haired Sorceress emerge. She could sense her silence and it made Saskia frown for a moment. She hoped that after the tragedy that happened during the siege of grain village where she had met Rinee that it hadn’t made her isolate herself from others. Saskia knew that, witnessing the death of Landers, people who shared thoughts, dreams, and emotions just like her, was a fate all to misfortunate to have to endure. The sense of helplessness. The bitter torment that plagued the mind.
Saskia tried her best to lift the atmosphere. If not for the sake of the girl, then for her own. She felt the playback of the chaos on those bloody shores on the isle of grain seep into the pink haired godesses mind.
She pinched her nose in a rather disturbed manner, though she tried to maintain her bearing in front of the other students. She couldn’t help but remember how she had failed some of the cadets during their campaign where a member of their unit got kidnapped. When despite how valiantly they fought in the frozen tundra of the windsor greatwoods, how they still suffered casualties due to poor tactics and a disadvantage of terrain.
It was her duty to lead these people, but sometimes that was a heavy cross to bear, as she knew with each death, they lost a fragment of their memory, and a shard of who they were. It could be something subtle like when they and their lover first met, a wedding vow shared by two starcrossed lovers, the birth of their child or when their kids first learned how to walk or talk. It could have been a moment they cherished with their parents. A moment they shared with a family member or friends. Even if a few seconds were lost from their memory, something could have been done or said in that memory that greatly impacted who they were today. Saskia felt that. She herself could find times were she fold lapses of space in the details of her own life; windows of time that have been shut off.
Saskia sapphire gems snapped out of their trance and quiver lightly over Rinee.
“Glad to see you could make it, Rin.” Her voice a little more melancholy, yet firm in its stance. “Rin is one our our sorcerers who has a little bit of experience under her belt, like Piper here. She’s be on of the few that has access to four skills rather than three. She has a diversity of magic that can be employed in various situations. As well as a rich attunement to the elements, even moreso than any simple sorcerer. She can be a bit of a navigation specialist as she can track down elements of nature. Something that we cannot. If there if a source of water, she can find it. A draft from a dark cave, she can seek it out. Disturbances in the earth, she can feel them. A burning fire from the torch of an enemy? She can sniff it out. She is also a practicing alchemists which of course has its uses.”
Saskia smiled at them all.
“Well, now then, since that seems to be all of us. I suppose we should send out the party invites. Do make good use of the class buffs each of you bring to the table as we make our party. They will certainly be useful. Sorcerors, Monk, Druids, enchanter, cleric, Saumrai and Guardian. Should be rather nice. However, keep in mind. The more of us. The more of them. Maintain your vigilance. Don’t just expect this to be easy, but rely on each other, as there is always strength in numbers. “

Saproth was grateful for the acknowledgement Saskia gave him and returned it with another bow. "I hope to be of good service to you all," He wished the party well and took a step back. It was apparent that he wasn't the last person they were waiting for or Saskia had motioned for them to repair to depart.
Saproth took a glance and smiled at every person in the party trying to remember their face if not their names. He understood his function as a druid and knew his place was to support and guard against surprise attacks, although, Saproth's particular druid build allowed him to be both function as support or if necessary, a decoy. He wasn't sure if he should inform their party organizer of this fact, but he was sure this information would come up necessary in due time.
Although, the weaknesses of being both a Druid and having selected Race of Ritual are apparent, both forcing him to have lower HP than anyone of the same per level, Saproth made up for it for having the most MP that is more or less a trade off.
Saproth wasn't sure how he could at least introduce himself properly to the others. He'd want desperately to at least be in speaking terms with all rather than just walk and follow orders like another automaton bot like player. It was also suspicious to him that the stale air eliminating from the sizable crack on the wall smelled more like rotting flesh than sewer drain odor. "Abandon all hope, all who enter here," He was reminded of another famous quote from another fantasy book.
As a child, Saproth must have drowned himself into every fictional and sci-fi book that he could get his hands on. He recognized every reference the builders of the Elder Tail game had ripped off and made its own. Sometimes, in battle, he gets distracted trying to find someone he wanted to point out to about a same scenario in a story he either have read or seen in a movie. Still, he wasn't sure if this knowledge benefited or hindered his chances of surviving the game that was now as real to him as the air he needed to survive.
Saproth still waited for whatever may come next.

bittersweet. They were filing in faster than she could truly take in each new appearance. So many new recruits to the academy in such a short amount of time it was almost as if they were offering some sort of trade secret in exchange. Unfortunately there was no secret to Vylbrand's latest success in this world the guild as a whole just seemed to be a little bit luckier than most. In her time her Lu noticed that many guilds seemed to be trying to pull people in but few seemed to be able to find a way to interest them. The only other guild she even knew by name was House of Crowns.
Every new person that showed up only added to the samurai's nerves as she knew that she was going to be tested. That was the reason she was here and it all started to make sense to her the moment the new recruits showed up. Being one of the higher level protectorate cadets it was about time they put her ability to lead to the test she figured. The only problem with that was Lu never wanted to assume a position of command over anything. Sure she could analyze a situation well and give orders but it was the being responsible part she didn't care for at all.
Holding anothers life in your hands was something that she never wanted to experience. Here in this world it didn't mean as much as it had before but it was still pretty uncool to get your party members butchered. 'Great. Your first run will be in front of the entire guild basically..' she thought to herself as she wiped the smirk from her face. Her expression was replaced with one that reflected the amount of concentration she was now showing. As each class and name was mentioned she did her best to file that information away as she tried to figure out formations.
Already she could see the squad rosters forming in her mind, at least the ones that made the most sense to her. Once everyone was settled she moved to send out invites to everyone ahead of Saskia. It was her general assumption that this time it was her show and Saskia was simply here to bail them out if need be. As each person recieved a party invite from Lu she took the time to sort them into groups. Group one consisted of Piper, OG Loc, Parasole, Autumn and Lanceknight. Group two was Luiniel, Saskia, Saproth, Fubuki and Rinee. From what she could tell most of group one knew each other so they would have the best synergy.
"Take a moment to check your equipment. When you are set please let me know and we will begin the quest. Squads have been set-up in the party menu but are subject to change based on what we encounter down in the tunnels." she started, placing her hands behind her back as she spoke. For some reason this sort of thing came natural to her whether she wanted it or not. Despite her lack of raid leader experience she had no end to her knowledge when it came to the mechanics of setting up and preparing for a raid.
Should she give some sort of speech? Her old raid leader used to do it before every single raid night. At first she found it to be quite comical and over the top but now she felt that she missed the experience. Silly things like that were what made things interesting and worth holding on to. For now she would spare them the pain of listening to her ramble more than they had to already. Taking a few steps towards the tunnel entrance they were going to be exploring she drew a deep breath and held it. She was going to need a brew or eight after this was over. As that thought crossed her mind she lowered her level to five and prepared to start. |

After following Saskia's order to make sure they were all on the same party-list, Saproth lined in with her to form in the second group.
Although... he completely disagreed with the grouping. Saproth would have grouped all experienced dungeoneers in the first group together and leave the highest experienced one with the novices so they would have some protection if an enemy would passed through the first group, they would still have a fighting chance as this was an exploration mission and not one designed for combat, as Saproth assumed Luiniel had composed the two teams for. She also grouped herself with Saskia leaving the first team without an obvious leader in any case the two groups may be forced to split up, which was a common scenario in every movie plan he ever saw.
Come to think of it, Saproth only realized that there were more women in this party than there were men... a para-dime shift as he thought there were more male gamers in the world than females. Saproth suspected half of the women might actually be played by men in the real world.
Although he disagreed, Saproth kept silent and followed. He may disagree but he didn't actually have on hand experience about these things.
And Saproth was at least relieved with the fact that he'd be standing close with Saskia who is more or less the only person he knew in the Guild as he only joined up about two weeks ago, and since then this was the first dungeon run he would be involved in for his new guild, which he has Saskia to thank for.
Saproth armed his staff and puppet handle. He also prepared himself to poly-morph into any natural creature he finds within the labyrinth if OG Loc's wild speak falls insufficient.

Fubuki was grateful that he was included in the party. He thought that since he was late, he would not be included in the party and mission. Taking note that there already five of them in the waiting area, that should be possible. But for some reason the headmaster let him in the party, and as such, he was very happy that he was given another chance to prove himself to the Academy. He beamed with a very lovely smile, and said, "Thank you, Headmaster! I promise I will give my all to this mission!" He then raised his left arm with the sword in hand, and he was ready for everything that may come to their party. A melodic humming sound was created amidst the creepy backdrop of the abandoned underground subway as Fubuki was bobbing his head left and right while he was producing the humming tune, maintaining his beaming smile as he was still happy by the turn of events. This should be the time to prove to the Headmaster what he was capable of, and he was happy that the trust was given to him. Now what only should be left was to prove that their waiting for him was not in vain. He surely would give his all in the coming battles, so that they would not be disappointed by their choice to let him in. He was still happily humming when he heard, in between his hums, a set of footsteps going towards their direction. He opened his eyes, reared his head to the direction of the footsteps, and saw a man with gray spiky hair going towards them. He then waved his hand towards the newcomer, his face beaming with a smile, although he didn't know him yet. But it should be a good thing that he started it for them to get to know each other. Little do he know that he would repeat the same thing when a man with green spiky hair arrived, and then with the black-haired scantily-dressed woman, and even thence with a woman dressed in the garb of a witch. But it was fine with him; he wanted to get to know as many people as possible. As they readied to move, he counted the people in their group. When he finished counting, he found out that there were already ten of them participating in the mission. As the headmaster introduced each of them in the group, he then found out that with they had three sorcerers, one cleric, one enchanter, one samurai, one monk, and two druids in addition to the class of the headmaster, who is a guardian. Some of them are high-leveled, while some were not experienced like him. He then watched as the headmaster deputed the leadership to the samurai, who assigned them based on how well they knew each other. It seemed not much of a bad decision, since the group with more synergy would be much more seamless in their tactics than those who were not that familiar with each other. Although it bugged him that the first group might not have that much leadership since both the headmaster and the party leader were in the same group; the same group as him. But he just left the issue to the party leader who might decided that that arrangement was wise. He then checked his equipment if it was well maintained, but since he would just use it for the first time against true mobs, there was nothing much to check. He then cheerfully said to the samurai who was the party leader, "My equipment are well-maintained and are ready. Now I'm ready to go to show them what I've got!" And then the showdown was about to begin, and he was ready to hit the stage and take the spotlight as his debut in the field would start in a few minutes! MADE BY PHEO

» Only four skills, huh? Piper was not too happy about that, but there was nothing to be done at this point. She had already agreed to the adventure and was certainly not going to back down now. She decided to stick with the basics: Rafting Taunt, Beatdown, Tiger Echo Fist, and Zoom Attack would suffice for her preferred strategy. She would be able to draw in enemies, chip away at them, and then blast them out so she could do it all over again.
Piper took a glance at her comrades in arms in this raid; it looked like there were a ton of squishy spellcasters to protect here. The sorcerers would probably be the main source of damage output; they had a representative from each of the tank classes, so keeping everyone alive would hopefully not be too much of a problem.
Speaking of the tank classes... Piper already knew Saskia quite well, but the fox tail Samurai was new to her. Piper was a little disappointed to see that the Samurai was higher level than her as well. That being said... she was pretty cute. Piper snapped out of her daze when the fox tail began speaking. Piper took a glance at the menu and surveyed her team; so there was Piper, a Monk, then a Druid, a Cleric, and a Sorcerer. Piper tilted her head at the last one; Lanceknight the Sorcerer? Seemed a very odd username for the class chosen. Piper silently bemoaned the fact that she had only been assigned with one other girl (one other real girl, at any rate), but she knew that was hardly relevant; she was here to do business, after all, not flirt. Flirting was what got her in trouble earlier.

Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 Nodding to Autumn as she arrived, the cleric's attention rested back on the pink haired guild leader Parasole respected so much. In a way, he guessed he looked up at the woman for both her understand and compassion heart and an impressive ability to shift between casual conversation and battle ready within a moments notice.
Thinking back to the woman who brushed his hair and helped him with so many metal issues that he had swimming around in his brain, he could only help but wonder how she managed to appear so confident and majestic standing before them. Shrugging in response to Og Loc when he cast her a look, she focused on the guardian before her and another she did not recognize. The interface revealed her name as Luiniel and she was a fox tail. Cute.
Other than having problems adjusting to his body, fox tails and other demi human races seemed to have the most problems adjusting, those ears and tails or having a pure animal face would do that to someone. However as the darkness loomed around them, all the cleric could wonder was if the she was indeed an impressive in battle just like he imagined their guild leader to be.
Nodding in response to Saskia, the cleric gripped his sword where it say in it's sheath. He didn't know how much healing he would be able to do other Og Loc as he seemed pretty much the more support orientated class. Parasole had designed the cleric to be a prevention of damage and damage per second style and was even basing his next skills around that build. Though one thing was for sure, Autumn and the druid would not be in the front lines. Autumn didn't like combat full stop and he guessed that judging by Og Loc's class and summon abilities that he didn't either.
However he did frown when Saskia swept his subclass under the rug, perhaps the guild leader wasn't aware of the advantages the sub class provided. Not many people knew this, but being a housekeeper had many advantages, they could craft level one to five items from the chef, tailor or woodcrafter classes making it seriously handy to have in a party.
What surprised the cleric most was how willing Saskia and Luniel seemed to be about lowering their levels, even though it meant that they wouldn't have access to higher level skills or equipment designed for a higher level player. They were playing a risky game and Parasole couldn't help but worry if it was all really worth it.
Before any more could be said another team of vagrants seemed to join them. The first was a magic wielder but for some reason the cleric couldn't take his eyes of him for a moment and it wasn't until he noted how he had the idol subclass did he notice why. The next person was also a magic user however it was a familiar face, Lance the sorcerer who had brought fire to the snow domain. Parasole gave him a slight wave as he introduced himself as a representative from the House Of Crowns guild. That was different to say he least.
The cleric turned to watch a unique looking spikey haired druid appear and quote the Harry Potter Series. It was odd, he could remember it well but that series was pretty old, either Saproth was into old movies or just was old himself. Another to show up was the monk who had helped out Lance and Parasole and also had won the cleric's trust for the way she spoke in the classroom in support for him. Piper may not have been aware, but the cleric held great respect for her since that day and really hoped they would be closer, hopefully at the end of this quest they would be. Waving at the woman, Parasole flicked her heard towards one more unfamiliar face, this one seemed to a sorcerer again. Three in one go, that was pretty popular class wasn't it.
Letting the guild master Saskia talk to the new faces, the cleric memorized what information she spoke about each one. The cleric had never come across a puppeteer subclass before today and hopefully he would be able to see it in action.
As the fox tail female ordered them into parties, the cleric couldn't help but inwardly celebrate that he was teamed up with all familiar faces and faces that he had been in battle with previously. That meant that things would go smoother, it seemed that Piper would be taking the lead as a monk, Og Loc and Autumn would provide support, while Lance and himself did other damage.
If needed the cleric would provide support also. It was odd however that they weren't under Saskia's orders, but if she trusted the fox tail, then the cleric would too. A quick inspection of his equipment and the cleric stood ready to continue on, ready for whatever lay ahead.

Lance smiled at the lady who asked him what he could bring to the table. She seemed to be a high level guardian from the looks of her. Lance felt a bit intimidated but did not seem to show it "I can control a wide range of elements... Alas I am only level one and I was hoping that this raid would be a good place to maybe level up." He had a genuine smile on his face as he looked around at the people appearing. Although there were many people here, only two seemed to catch his eye out of the rest of them. The Monk he had ran into the other day was there and so was the cleric from the other day. He felt a weird sensation when the cleric waved at him and he hesitantly waved back but tried to keep a calm composure which only made him look more weird. He would eventually shake the feeling off and get back down to business. Lance then took notice of the fox tail who had ordered them into parties. He silently checked his party menu and saw the party he was set up in. The two players he met the other day were part of the party as well as an enchanter "Nice..." he said underneath his breath as he awaited further instructions.
This was going to be fun for him as the tunnel was dark and it would be hard to see a thing. He gave a slight nod to the high level guardian as if to thank her for letting him tag along and smiled. Perfect chance to level up and to practice his skills. He wasn't all that worried about death but he did realize how dangerous this might be.

Guardian - Cavalier - Brewer ____________________________________________________
Saskia cast a commanding gaze at all the troops as she observed most of their body language and facial gestures trying to gauge their reactions. They had all been dedicated and brave souls. It still took a special kind of courage to face the unknown face to face rather than hiding behind a screen. Sometimes the monster she encountered had offered a lot in the forms of psychological deterrent to discourage her morale and make her quiver at the knees. It definitely took some getting used to. Even though they couldn’t die, she still felt as if certain things were life threatening due to the sense that by removing shards of your memory they would kill you slowly over time.
Her gaze looked over Saproth, the humble Druid, as she wished the rest of the members good will. As he walked closer to the entrance he muttered a phrase that made Saskia blink as she heard him sound like some old mystical wizard of old. He definitely seemed to be very immersed in this new world and adapting to it fairly quickly.
Saskia’s soft blue eyes cast a net that captured Luiniel’s emotions as the Fox Tail seemed to be bracing herself for what was about to occur. Leadership was a burden, especially in front of so many and being accountable for their lives. It was a thick notion of responsibility that one had to have. Saskia hoped that the Samurai would no have to experience the hardness of heart that herself and Rinee had to while many good lives were lost that day in the grain village. The war maiden watched as the fair fox tail toughened her resolve through sharp eyes as she had them disperse and form up into groups.
She seemed to be slightly militant in nature as she placed her hands behind her bck. It seemed rather interesting to see as Saskia wasn’t used to this side of her. Before she was mostly casual, but now it seemed that, given enough time, she would rise to the occasion.
The youthful and vibrant Fubuki seemed very dedicated and she was glad that he could help out. He seemed way too cheerful in contrast to Saproth’s dark themed words of anticipation. The way he bobbed his head and went about humming with youthful innocence almost made Saskia feel conflicted about bringing such a young person into the fold for this mission. However, she knew he had to learn sooner or later how to fend for himself. Any special treatment might hold him back or make him feel discouraged. Of course since they were trveling in such large numbers the overall security level should be fairly high....hopefully.
Piper seemed to be quiet and focused which somewhat threw Saskia of guard as she was expecting some bright, bubbly, and witty response out of her, but it seemed like Piper had her game face on and was trying to get to know the rest of her team. Saskia chuckled as all the ladies seemed to be away from Piper’s squad which she knew brought the flirty lesbian no joy s Luiniel blocked her off from all the feminine delights.
Saskia had taken a moment to glance at Parasole, noticing a new icon in her HUD that appeared to have Parasole labeled as a Summoner. Saskia took note of this so she could update her roster as she still had Parasole filed under a Cleric. She didn’t know any of Parasole’s new abilities, but she assumed that if they were anything like Raef Blackwood, another Summoner who she fought alongside, that power would be devastating if he could keep up his mana. She seemed very pleased with her pair up, being with her friends that she had joined with. Saskia noticed a significant boost in comfort and confidence as they entered there own little dream team.
The grand addition of a Sorceror from House of Crowns was remarkable as she knew the guild had exquisite tastes for talented elites amongst their ranks. She was excited to see what the junior members of Saber’s guild had to offer and bring to the table. He seemed to be a very versatile player tht could handle various situations. Saskia gave him a nod of affirmation, welcoming him into the fold.
Saskia then watched as all the members lined up and got into their respective parties. Rather than seem to focus on what might look good on paper, it seemed that Luiniel seemed to forge her armies build upon the foundation of their camaraderie with each other. Perhaps that would amplify their strength with a synergy that would be unmatched on the field. As Saskia watched, she decided she would follow the role of the grunt and strip herself of the veil of guild headmistress. Now she was simply a soldier in a squad like the rest of them.
She looked to the rest of her squad. She was familiar with fighting with all of them, save for the Sorceror, Fubuki. She was just grateful to have a healer in the group so that she didn’t have to stress so much about dying. Though the possibility always existed, even she wasn’t completely safe from the unknown perils that lied within.
She scaled her level down and selected her four skills to take advantage of which consisted of Anchor Howl, Counter Break, Cool Defense, and Parry. She tried her best to make herself a sturdy wall the group could rely upon.
Taking a deep breath she plunged forward into the deep abyss.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep within the murky and dank cavern, you can see a hollow crypt of pitch blackness. The halls only barely illuminated with the eerie glow of deep mushrooms. Adorned across the walls are veins of iron ore and you see displaced pickaxes broken lanterns resting upon a barrel covered in cobwebs. The whole place is plagued by darkness. Darkness so deep, anything can snatch you away and leave you separated from the rest of the group if you aren’t careful.
The field of vision is barely five meters and you can barely make out the person in front of you. Maybe a few gleams of shiny armor, maybe the shimmer of a steel sword, but barely anything but a walking shadow can be seen from your view. Non-hostile rats scurry across the floor into tiny cracks and holes in the cavern as you venture onward. You can hear the soft droplets of water descending from the ceiling as your shoulders begin to get soggy from the subtle downpour.
The outer shell of the cave seems to be caked in mud as you find that your boots are now encased in a sticky goo. Walking through wet puddles you find that if you wore cloth boots, they would feel as if they were ruined. However, the heavier clad people would find it to be a lot harder to maneuver under the sticky adhesive surface with their heavy boots as with each step they kept sinking slightly into the mud. A bottle of liquor clanks against someone’s footsteps as you all progress through the mine with makes you hear a loud flapping of wings in the distance, followed by a loud screeching.
In the darkness of the depths, however, little remains to be seen as you gather the courage to adventure onward. As you gaze over the wooden beams you noticed the cracks and fractures in them that could be very disheartening as they look like they could give in any second and send the roof tumbling down over your head. Further down, you even see one of these beams caked in dirt and lying across the floor as you walk over it. Mud begins to descend into pointy cones that cascade from the ceiling like muddy chandeliers As you wander round a corner, you could almost hear the loud cackling of wild gibberish.
The voices sound primitive and barbaric in nature, yet it is difficult to discern exactly what lies ahead, you hear a lot of footsteps clanking along wooden boards, but as you fully make the corner, the only thing can be seen is a bridge wobbling side to side, in a disturbing way as if it had just been in use by something other than yourself which gave the gloomy sensation that you were not alone.
As you make your way through the bridge, you hear a loud screech and the sound of something heavy thud against a rocky formation as large boulders began to roll down from the higher surface of a small cliff tucked away to the right. The boulders would tumble down in a wild rockslide a two giant boulder would slam into some of the members and hurl them off below the bridge as the damage from the impact plus the fall damage would leave the squad crippled as two members of the team would die and anima bubbles would float up to kiss the sides of the bridge.
Those hit by the medium sized boulders would find themselves dazed and unable to act for a short period of time as well as received a good chunk of damage. The smaller boulders that collided with the remaining members would deal moderate damage, but not enough to leave them delirious after such a blow. It seemed that only a select few were able to manage to evade the surprise assault from their unknown adversaries.
Then came the volley of arrows. Six Kobold archers from across the bridge had taken advantage of the opportunity to lay down suppressive fire on both squads. Guarding the thin wooden bridge were two malicious goblins that hurled handaxes into the fray. Sinuous howls erupted singing the prelude to war and the vicious beasts stormed the group. Their formation was solid and they had a tactical advantage only having to hold the line of a thin small bridge. It was only thick enough to one to go across.
Command us at your will, Luiniel. Our lives and cherished memories are in your hands.
Fight valiantly, warriors, for we come to seek far greater truths and glory on the fields of battle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The swirling tsunami of emotions engulfed Saskia as members of both squads were decimated, several lied stunned as the rampaging boulders began to collide. It all happened too soon as they were caught in a blur of sharp jagged rocks that washed over them. A small boulder bounced of the ground below and smacked her in her ribcage as she winced from the pain. She lowered her stance, gripping her shield arm over the side of her armor. It was sturdier than most, but she could already see the subtle wear and tear from the chink it left behind as the rock crashed into it. Bold fangs bore at the dark as the only thing that her and others would be able to see was the red of their eyes as the lizard beasts grinned maniacally with sharp white teeth. Then came the whistle of that which could not be seen as the arrows murmered through the veil and pierced the armor of some of the cadets. Other arrows missed, digging themselves into the rock and floor near the group.
“Archers!!! Ready yourselves!!!” Saskia shouted as an arrow collided with her shield that she had raised out of instinct, but as her heavy great shield cut off her vision, which was already impaired due to the darkness, she felt an axe that has hurling at a horizontal angle bury itself into her side, making another sharp scrape into her iron fortress.
“We got archers pinning us down. Two KIA. A few stunned. We can only move one across the bridge. What’s it gonna be Lu!?!” Saskia shouted as she tried to discern what to do.
