What the handcuff? Where am I? Samantha's gaze slowly moved over the dilapidated buildings and eerie streets, looking for something familiar. She rested her hand on her chest, her go-to thinking pose, and took a few short steps forward. Something doesn't feel right. She thought, looking down. My body feels... off. Samantha had always been in-tune with her body. If ever there was something off-a bump, an unusually placed hair, anything-she could pinpoint it immediately. But this time, she couldn't quite figure out what was wrong. Her hands looked the same, her skin color, hair color, everything was how it should be. I think my hair is longer... Have I lost my memory? No, I can't dwell on this now. I need to find out where I am first. Starting to walk forward once again, she felt a second unusual sensation. "What's on my back?" She asked, this time out loud. Reaching behind herself, she feels two long, wooden poles strapped to her. Taking one in each hand, she carefully slid them over her shoulders and into clear view. "What are these?" She asked in a whisper. Her eyes met the pointy ends of her weapons, and she was struck with a realization. "Crab cakes!"
Bling! Anna had read this particular book several times before, so losing her place meant very little to her. At the sound coming from her computer on the other side of her little living room, she immediately dropped it and rushed to check her email. "Please be it." She said, opening the window. Her countenance immediately dropped when she saw the message's title. "Come oooooon." She whined, slouching back into her chair. She let out a long huff and leaned back within reach of the mouse and keyboard. "New Elder Tale Server Now Open!" She read off the screen. "Elder Tale? I thought I unsubscribed from their mailing list when Sean..." She moused her cursor over to the delete button and hovered over it for a moment. Sean had always been trying to get her to sign up and play that game with him, but she never saw the appeal. He even signed her up for the mailing list to constantly remind her to play it with him. Elder Tale, and really all Sean's games, had always seemed like a waste of time. Why would you ride a horse on a computer when you cold ride one for real? Why would you scale imaginary mountains when you could go outside and smell the mountain air and feel the cool breeze on your cheeks? But on that day, Anna was stuck inside. Until she got that stupid email, she could not and would not go far from her computer. She looked over at the clock. "You win. A few months late, but you win." She said, following the link to the Elder Tale website and clicking the download button. "Let's see why this blinking crab is so great." Ding! Anna looked at her computer screen. Download complete? That was fast. Again, she looked at the clock. No, it wasn't! "This game is already wasting my time." She said, rubbing her forehead. Where did all my time go? I was.... "Reminiscing. You stupid little girl." When the title screen finally popped up, she leaned forward on her left palm and waved the mouse with her right, looking for something to click. Click. "Okay.... create your character. Simple enough. Female, obviously." She said, clicking on the appropriate option. "Choose your race?" She scrolled through the options. "Elves? Like those things that help Santa? No thank you. Dwarves? Ew, ugly. Half-Alves? They just kind of look like people to me... and then you can play as an animal person? That sounds kinda pervy. I think I'll just pick human." Anna then took a few minutes to scroll through the various body shapes and faces. "Well, I can give you longer hair, since I wont have to take care of it." She told her character on the screen. "Is this what you did all day, Sean? Play dress-up dolls?" She asked no one, chuckling at her own joke. Suddenly, she stopped. "That one looks a whole lot like... me." The face she had made using the randomization feature seemed to represent her perfectly. She lifted up her hand and placed it over her nose. That thing on the computer even had her nose! She hated that beak-like protrusion on her face with such passion growing up, but she didn't anymore. She lowered her hand. One person had loved her nose, and she trusted him, at least when it came to things like this. Click. She accepted her character's current look and moved on to the next step. "Classes... Like, Math? Is this a learning game?" She began reading the page. "Guardian, Samurai, Monk, Assassin... Oh, I see, surely there is a better word for these things." She let out a laugh. "Druid? Aha, what can they do, pray for Stonehenge to fall on you? I have to see this." Click. "Okay, sub-classes? Now, I'm a substitute teacher." She laughed at her own joke again. "Alchemist, Artisan, Blacksmith, Brewer-you can make beer!? Easy choice. I'll take that one. And look at that, I get to pick a third one. Do I ever actually get to play this game?" She scrolled through the list. "Accountant? Farmer? Seriously? Housekeeper? Sean, you better not have been playing as some weird cat-eared french maid thing in this game. Oh, hey, a horseback rider. I'll do that, because, you know, you can't do that in real life." She rolled her eyes. "Skills? As a Druid, I can... blow bubbles. Very realistic. Oh, I can summon a little friend. I'll pick that one. I can also summon ice, because, you know, Druid here." She scrolled farther down. "Uggg. This takes too long. I'll pick the one that lets me be ambidextrous. Now, on to step 8 of ten billion! If they make me do more of these.... Armour." She rubs her forehead. "Leather sounds kinky." Her eyes and mouse were moving tiredly over the screen by now, for she was becoming bored with the process. "Aaaaand, leather's not even a little kinky. My weapons?" Click Click
Samantha had chosen the first two weapons she could select-spears. Spears which she now held in her hands. And she had also chosen to give the character the first name that came to her mind-Samantha Lemongrass, since, you know, she had just had lemon tea. No, don't be ridiculous! I am NOT in a video game right now. That is impossible. Right? "Yes, right." She said out loud. "People, there are other people here. There have to be. I just need to find them... before I can't stop talking to myself." Samantha quickly begins darting down the alien streets, looking for some trace of other people....

Making his way downtown, walking fast. Faces pass. But, lord knows, Hiro sure as hell isn't home bound right about now. His eyes were wide with confusion, insecurity, and as many questions as there were particles of matter in the sun. If one looked at him from the side, one would be rather confused if he was actually a person or not, what with his robotic-looking walking cycle. But, upon closer inspection, if they observed the grotesque amount of sweat pouring off his facial region, their questions would thereby be answered that he is, in fact, a human. One who may or may not look like he's about to crap himself, but that is beside the point. Hiro was more than confused about what was just going on, and it looked like a lot of other people were, too, who were just as confused. If not more. But, he tried to make himself look not as surprised and shocked as possible, which was ultimately failing at the moment. But, to his fortune, he had just awoken in a very strange situation, much like a few of the other people. To his misfortune, though, they probably didn't have it as bad as he did...
Hiro opened his eyes, wearily, a pounding headache throbbing in his forehead. "Ughh... Where... Where am I?" He quietly whispered to himself, looking around the small room that he was now inside. He wasn't sure at all what was going on, but all he could tell was that he was no longer inside the room where his computer was placed. Did he perhaps crash out and then sleepwalk somewhere else? Or maybe he went to a friend's house and then tripped on something. All of which were as wrong as could be, as he heard the sound of a water droplet plopping into the water to his right. He slowly turned his head to look at the source, only to find something he didn't expect at all: A girl, roughly 16 years old, naked in a bathtub, with a small cloth covering her chest, and a bright red flush across her face. She was turned away slightly, her eyes adverting him. Hiro couldn't help but look a little further down, to see a rather exposed side of her chest, with some small mounds bumping out from underneath the cloth. He stared for just a few more moments, before his brain finally caught up with what he had just seen, causing his eyes to widen ferociously.
"U-Uhhm..." The girl began to speak, slowly matching her eyes to his. Her look was somewhat distant, but soft, as though one were looking into the eyes of their lover. She leaned forward a bit, bowing to him, before continuing. "G-Greetings, Adventurer." She spoke, her voice quivering. Returning to her sitting posture a few moments later, she continued. "I-Is there anything that I may assist you with? Anything..." She shifted the cloth down just slightly, her gaze becoming more hazy. "At all?" Now, while this would have given any gamer or anime fan a hard-on, one should understand that being the one that this is all happening to is enough to cause so much confusion that they wish to simply dive out of the nearest window. Which, ultimately, was the result of the encounter. Hiro sprung up, bowed, apologized, and dove out the window of the bathroom in a hasty fashion. As the monk-to-be landed on the ground with a hard thud, he quickly began to walk away from the scene of the incident. Thus, the reason why Hiro was walking in such an awkward and quick fashion down the street. As much as he wanted to deny it, the encounter did have an effect on him, as one would have predicted.
All this aside, and the rush of feelings having died down by now, he found himself walking down a familiar pathway. He slowed himself down to a normal walk, and looked up and around himself. He began to notice how the entire place looked very decrepit and destroyed, and then hit the jackpot in his mind. "Is this... Elder Tale?" He asked himself, taking in the surrounding area. It certainly wasn't the kind of environment that he was foreign to, but the city and all that jazz looked a bit different than normal, as if it were a different place entirely. Of course, he had heard the rumors of a new server having been opened up, and he wanted to check it out with some friends, but he likely would need to wait a little while before he could find them. Perhaps, for now, this was some new kind of neuron-linked Virtual Reality system, that actually made him feel like he was in the game. If so, then it would only prove how far technology would have come by now. If not, then this was something completely different, and he was likely to be stuck here for quite some time, only to better himself through his own adventures that he would have with friends along the way, eventually reaching the highest level, and construction great and powerful things. But, that wasn't likely to happen.

boom crash the sound of glass Owen slowly blinked his eyes open as he felt something tickled his nose. Actually, it wasn't really his nose, but somewhere near it. Sitting upright, he let out a small yawn, feeling the leaf fall off his face and onto the ground near a black-furred paw. He jerked his hand back in surprise, but the paw moved when he did. In fact, it accurately mimicked the movement of his arm. It's almost like it's my own arm...wait a minute. He moved his hands in front of his face, only to find that they were no longer the hands he was used to. The fur somewhat shone in the sunlinght, revealing it's soft sheen-y nature. He open and closed his fingers, only to find that the paws did the same. They curled up into small, soft fists, his claws extending (and then poking him) as he did so. He began to feel a little dizzy as he reached up to touch his face. No smooth skin. Only soft fur. To confirm his inner-most suspicions, he ran his hands over the top of his head, feeling the familiar form of cat ears on the top of his head.Alright...I feel like I'm gonna hurl...
Fortunately for him, a wooden pole laid beside him, giving him support as he pulled himself to his feet. He panted heavily, partially from the heat of a foreign sun beating down on him, but mostly from the initial disorientation. Just retrace the steps...last thing I was doing, I was playing Elder Tales. Like most college students, he didn't have much money to spend on entertainment/distractions, so to get this game was pretty much a godsend after playing nothing but a bunch of shoddy free-to-play MMOs. I just got done making my character and wandered around a bit while waiting for the patch. Then I fell asleep while it was installing and then...The last bit was still under wraps, but if he made a guess by looking around at his surroundings, it'd be safe to say that he had found himself inside the game he had always wanted to play. Either that, or a very convincing Renaissance fair/creepy fur suit convention. "If I'm in the game, does that mean...?"Feeling a bit stronger and less dizzy, Owen stood up straight and looked around at the marketplace. Villagers and other confused looking individuals were milling about. Status displays and icon windows popped up above the heads of all he could lay eyes on, displaying their names, their class, their level, and just about every other statistic that was allowed for public display. Most of the other adventurers didn't move. Like himself, most were staring around in confusion. Some were not taking it very well and were curled up on the ground, hugging themselves tightly as if this were all a bad dream. For Owen, this wasn't a problem at all, but he couldn't help but feel his heart go out for those who obviously did not want to be here. No one should be pulled from the things they love into a world with no rules (possibly other than the game's, of course). As he drew closer to the villagers and players, he found himself in the middle of a fray of anarchy. Some of the adventurers were freaking out, grabbing villagers by the scruffs of their clothes. They demanded information from them, growing increasingly more irritable as the villagers replied that they had no idea what they were talking about. Just when he thought something would happen, lo and behold, it did. However, it wasn't the kind of trouble that involved a violent scuffle. No, this kind of trouble involved a smashed window and a red-headed youth tumbling out of it and onto the not-soft ground below. Sure that he had probably snapped his neck and/or scraped an elbow, he was surprised to see him jump to his feet and power-walk right outta there. He looked back at the window, managing to catch a glimpse of a girl wrapped in what looked like a XXL washcloth (so barely passing as a towel under certain textile qualifications). "Oho...how scandalous," he muttered to himself. He found himself following the adventurer as he made his way through the crowd, wondering if Monk would get up to more mischief. If not, he could always try to see if he'd be interested in partying. As an enchanter, his attack force was naught but a fart in the wind, so finding someone with the 'deeps' would come in handy in a pinch.

Maybe I shouldn't have come down this way. Samantha thinks to herself, dashing through a dingy alleyway. It's not like I'll see anyone I want to meet in an alley. Her breath was becoming heavier and heavier causing her nose to take in the awful smells wafting through the stagnant air. "Wha-Wha-" She pants, nearly talking to herself, but too tired to form words anymore. Looking at her surroundings, Samantha realizes it is not the lack of people, the poorly lit alley, nor the rats that frightens her. She fears the green hanging down from the buildings. She fears the green peeking up from the streets. Being in a city devoid of human life does not frighten her. being in a city which has lacked human life for so long does. She comes to a halt when she reaches the end of the alley and leans down on her knees, catching her breath. If this really is a video game, I wouldn't smell that reek, right? Suddenly, another thought hits her, and her face turns white in horror. But, the alternative is worse. If I am not in a game, the world recently ended and I've been left to fend for myself with two sticks... She tries to think back to everything she has seen so far. Did any of the buildings look familiar? Were there any street signs left she could have read to approximate her location? No, no. Nothing I have no clue where I am and no way of finding out. While leaning forward in her out-of-breath thinking position, she notices something that she had not noticed before. "A whistle?" She asks aloud, holding the whistle on her necklace so that she can see it. Maybe if I blow it a few times, someone will hear it. She places her newly discovered trinket in her mouth and prepares to blow on it, but before she does, her mouth drops open and it falls out. People! "People! Oh, thank God!" All over the street before her, other newly awakened adventurers are trying to orient themselves to their new surroundings. The possibility that they, too, may be unaware of their current predicament does not even cross her mind. She quickly yet carefully moves towards the nearest person, a dazed looking red-headed man. I hope these people don't turn out to be zombies or something. This man before her didn't look overly dangerous (or undead), so she picked up her pace, dashing towards him, waving her two spears, having completely forgotten they were in her hands. Regardless of how the man reacts, she stops a few feet short from running into him and leans on her knees, panting. "H-hey, Mister, whew." She holds her finger up, catching her breath. I'm in better shape than this, aren't I? Maybe not hitting the gym on work days isn't such a good policy. Standing erect, this small woman, who, from what Hiro can tell, is a level one Druid named Samantha Lemongrass, asks "Do you know where we are?" Her dark brown eyes meet Hiro's when she brushes her wind-swept blonde hair out of her face. Suddenly, her eyes are diverted by an unusual glowing box over Hiro's head. "And what is that!?" She exclaims, pointing her spear at the space over his head. Upon completion of this action, she immediately realizes that questioning someone while carrying weapons likely isn't wise, and places her spears on her back. Wordz: 575 Hirosame @dusk

Questioning someone while holding weapons isn’t smart. I already found that out earlier today while doing my first questioning trip. now back from hunting with kaos I passed through the city gates into the city. losing kaos in the crowd I start looking for him, I look for a few minutes then realize they set a point for if they lost each other. going towards that point I wondered what are we going to do now? No one would tell them what to do and no one would pay attention to what they’ll do, although it’s probably not wise doing whatever we want without regards to the rules everybody is so used to. Since so many country's have the same laws these days. The spot we set was a less crowded area of the main street. Luckily when I get in sight of the area. I see the only people that are there seem like a group of three random people. probably joined by the apocalypse. walking to one of the benches I notice the group more clearly, in it are a werecat enchanter a human monk and a human druid it seems like a very ragtag group of adventurers, still the first one to take in a fight would probably be the monk most likely the most experienced in the group and the tankiest class and best for solo. if a fight would happen they would get destroyed they don’t seem to work together or have any knowledge of how to work together. Waiting for kaos to arrive I decide to question them a bit and have some fun until he arrives. I walk towards the werecat first taking him to the side and asking him this “do you know how we got here? And how did you wake up?” seems like simple questions but the information it gives me is immense. he answers with “I don’t know anything about how we got here and I just woke right here confused.” approaching the human monk and taking him aside I ask the same question and he answers with “I don’t know either although I did wake up in a lander’s home” and finally I take the girl aside I ask here but she seems very stressed and doesn’t answer me like she doesn’t even notice im asking the question seeing kaos in the distance I leave her and walk towards him. | Each Day Is an adventure in its own right 652 Words |
Kaos walks back into Londinium after an exploratory mission in the fields around town, quickly getting seperated from tzuf23 in the chaos of the adventurers seeking answers. This is understandable given the possible state of things but they're acting like savages. He continued walking towards the point he designated to the samurai as the regrouping point when he saw an adventurer pick up an old man as he yelled into his face. Kaos walked forward and placed his hand on the players shoulder, applying pressure to a nerve bundle. "Release the kind old merchant and maybe we can discuss this further, deal?" The adventurer releases the man and turns to Kaos. "What are you going to do, summoner, defeat a guardian? HA!" He puffed out his chest and smirked, putting as much effort in looking strong and brave as he could. The adventurer looked down at Kaos, who only adjusted his glasses and smirked. "I could destroy you, you know? The Royal Guard hasn't even come to stop us from grabbing the People of the Land, I bet they won't stop me from hurting you either." The adventurer drew his sword and pointed it at Kaos. Kaos looked up past the adventurer, as an orb floated down from the sky. "You know, that's a bad idea." He pointed up as a Royal Guard formed near the adventurer and demanded the guardian to sheath his blade. The adventurer complied with the demand and stormed off towards the city gate. Kaos stood there stunned at the appearance of the Royal Guard but remembered it was part of the game and shook it off before he moved to tend to the old merchant. "You aren't injured are you sir? It's okay, where I'm from, I'm a doctor and I can help you if you need it." The man just shook his head and bowed a thanks before quickly leaving. Kaos heard the sound of a crashing window and quickly ran to the sound, hoping it was not another adventurer trying to hurt a Person of the Land. He approached the location and saw a red-haired Monk quickly walking away from the shattered glass on the ground. He looks rather flustered, I wonder if he spawned in the bathroom of an Person of the Land. No, that would be too ridiculous. He looked around and saw a name and face he recognized as one of his patients. He walked over to her and kneeled beside her and smiled. "Hello Carol. Sorry, Madam Whiskers, how are you feeling today? Isn't the weather here nice today?" This may be a better scenario for her then our world. The poor woman awoke from a four month coma last week after a car wreck that claimed her husband's life to find she is completely paralyzed. When this was a game, she enjoyed it and the therapy was working for her. She even fell asleep while playing quite often. He listened to her overjoyed reactions of feeling the breeze on her face and how she ran around for the first hour that she was here and just frolicked through the park. He smiled at her stories and stood up before helping her up as well. "I'm glad this world is treating you well, just stay out of trouble and contact me if you need anything, ok?"Kaos watched Madam Whiskers run towards the city park and turned to look around and get his bearings. He saw tzuf23 pulling aside a werecat enchanter named @dusk then the monk Hirosame. He also noticed a small blonde Druid by the name of Samantha Lemongrass standing nearby but not quite approaching, all four seemed drawn together yet not yet introduced, something that it seem Tzuf23 was attempting to do. Well he's not too far from where we agreed to meet. He began walking towards the group, if only to offer them some kind of aid.

Okay, okay, okay, calm down, Hiro. Hiro mentioned to himself, within the confines of his mind. That was just a random happenstance. I had no control over that. Nothing could be done. It's done. It's over. It's finished. There is nothing more about the subject at hand. Forget about it. As he attempted to mantra his way out of feeling guilty, as well as a good deal of embarrassment for having seen a girl pretty much naked in this world, chest... region and all, he paid no attention to the road ahead of him at the moment. He wanted to just forget about the whole situation, and then find out what exactly was going on, how, and why. But, before he could do that, he couldn't help but shake the feeling that there was something behind him. Always following. Never leaving. As if it were some kind of a hungry cat on his tail. But, before he went to turn around, he heard a voice from off to another side of him. Turning to look, his eyes shot wide open again, and he jumped back a bit. "AAH! GRILL!" He shouted, taking a few hasty steps back. But, his sudden outburst was very quickly quelled, when the girl began to speak.
Hiro lowered his shocked stance, listening to the girl the entire time. What he was sort of confused about was how close she was from him before he jumped back. She was probably only a couple feet, at most, so she might have actually run into him, if she wasn't careful. She stood back up, and addressed him, though, with a very simple, yet thought-provoking question. Hiro had absolutely no solid idea where they were at the current time, so he couldn't really answer her. Instead, all he could respond with would have been a simple: I don't know. But, before he could answer, the girl went ahead and thrust a spear above his head, questioning something suddenly. Instinctively, Hiro leaned back to avoid the weapon being forcefully pushed into his face, but he couldn't keep his balance, and ended up landing ass-first on the ground. So, admittedly, it seemed like he wasn't as agile as he wanted to be as of yet. In fact, he had no remote ability to be able to avoid things as much as he should. But, all that would come in time. For now, though, he looked up to the place where the girl had pointed, taking full note of the box hovering above the girl's head.
Yes, this was definitely a feature from the Elder Tale game that he had once played before in a time long past, but now back into the situation. What was peculiar was the fact that it looked like the box was above his head for others to see, which would give them all some sort of notification as to who he is, and what he does. For now, though, he decided that it was a pretty bad idea to just go ahead and assume that the girl in front of him wanted to use the name she had placed for her character. Standing back up, admitting to his blunder to himself, he looked at the girl once again. "As far as I can tell, we're inside the game." Hiro said, his calm personality finally showing its side. He turned to look around at other adventurers and people that would be there in the plaza-like place where they stood, but could only really see himself as well as the girl who he was talking to. But, he did eventually notice that there was a cat-eared being just a little ways away, coming from the direction that he had come from. Perhaps that was the feeling that he had gotten of being followed beforehand? Who knows. He wouldn't let it bother him, though, and continued on talking.
Hiro looked back at the girl, and continued. "I can't put my finger on it, but I'd have to say we're here inside the game for the time being. Maybe this is just some kind of a new feature, using neuron-somethings to make us feel like we're actually in the game. If that's true, that's absolutely amazing, but I won't tell myself that that is the answer for now." He wasn't sure that this was the situation, even remotely, so he would keep an open mind. Letting a smile shine through, he extended his hand out to the girl. "Well, might as well make this official. The name's Hirosame, as displayed above, but call me Hiro." Hopefully, the girl would shake his own hand as well, but he wouldn't be offended if she just moved away from him. Being calm, no matter how strange the situation, is definitely one of life's most comforting feelings for others. However, as soon as their transaction would be over, Hiro looked over to the side, taking note of three characters that looked oddly similar to himself, the girl here, and the cat-person, as well as a Samurai who seemed to be asking them all questions. As luck would have it, they all appeared to be the same classes and such as them, as well as having identical looks. Finding it odd, Hiro decided not to dwell on it, shook his head, and would answer anything else that the girl or cat would ask, to the best of his ability.

Post by Elfriede on May 7, 2015 6:01:35 GMT
[attr="class","cscroll"] my eyes can see the death of everything even if that thing is god Elfriede had just split off with Wood Carbuncle and Midori, deciding to explore on their own for a bit. Walking around, Elfriede was curious about the layout of the Half Gaia version of London, Londinium. The Half Gaia Project created a world where distance was scaled by one half, thus area was scaled by one fourth, and volume scaled by one eighth. However, all of the buildings and roads seemed to be scaled in a one to one basis. If that was the case, then the total area of Londinium would be one fourth of London. Of course, there could be an exception when it came to cities. It is possible that major cities like Londinium could be one to one scaled versions of their real life counterparts and only the overall landscape was reduced by the Half Gaia project. However, at the same time that seemed a bit unlikely.
Creating a game world would be a rather intensive process that would demand many hours and resources. Creating a one to one scale reproduction of London would likely take up too much time and money for them to create a replica. Then again, the game has been active for quite a while and had many expansions. It is not impossible for them to "upgrade" the city. I'll have to explore a bit to be sure. The landmarks are definitely there, but what about some of the less commonly traveled roads and back alleyways?
After walking a bit, and purchasing a notepad and writing utensils from a lander merchant, Elfriede came to a little dilemma: she couldn't tell if Londinium's layout was similar to London's. She spent most of her time indoors and never got a layout of, honestly, anywhere she lived. Elfriede's time as a social recluse is biting her in the ass.
I never really did get out much did I? I can't really tell if the layout is the same as London's or not from down here. Maybe if I got a view from higher above? My body is much stronger here than my real body, even at level 1. As an assassin, my agility stat should be high for my level as well. I should be able to do some minor free running. After all, adventurer bodies are made for combat right?
Running towards some crates and using them as stepping stones, Elfriede began free running, slowing ascending towards the roofs. She kept her stunts to a minimal, knowing that even though her agility is high for her level, it is still rather low and weak. At most she would just make slightly large leaps. However, as time passed, Elfriede gets bolder and bolder, jumping larger and larger distances and more dangerous stunts.
Eventually, an over confident Elfriede attempted a stunt beyond her capabilities, missing her intended target by a rather decent margin and plummeted to the alleys below. She may have been a mute yesterday, but in this reality, Elfriede's vocal cords work, and while she can't properly speak—she can still scream.
Screaming as she plummeted down, Elfriede landed face first into a blonde haired woman. As she came to her senses, Elfriede felt something soft on her lips; she had made lip to lip contact with the woman.
Immediately retreating to the wall, Elfriede began crying.
M-m-m-my f-f-f-f-first k-k-k-kiss…

Just another day in Londinium. Amyas really didn't care for an Adventurer-infested city such as this one. Those overpowered monsters, walking around expressionless and not paying heed to anyone in their way. How he loathed them. Occasionally one would come up to him and talk to him. He would tell them what they wanted to know and leave them be. There was no point in attacking them. Not here. He did not know if the Royal Guard would show up if he attacked an Adventurer or not. He really didn't want to test that either. Even if he did attack and kill an Adventurer, they would just pop back up in the cathedral again, while if he failed, it would be the end of him. So in the end, it was just pointless. There was nothing to gain by killing Adventurers, and he had everything to lose.
The stakes weren't in his favour. He had no reason to play a game that was so against him, but that's life.
The stall keepers stood at their posts, selling their wares. Amyas felt in the mood for an apple. Cheap food ingredient to tide him over until he was preparing to leave the city, he supposed. Dropping the coins into the vendor's hand and taking the apple. A simple exchange. But right after the exchange, something in the air changed. Though Amyas didn't notice it at first. He just simply pulled out his dagger and began to peel the apple. Halfway through the apple's peel, he looked around the market. What he saw was something he had never seen before. Adventurers... with emotion. They all looked... bewildered. Confused. They were looking around themselves, looking at themselves, and it was something that has never happened before. Adventurers were supposed to be these undead emotionless monsters that everyone tolerated because they had no choice. But from the way they were acting, in just the briefest moment he saw them, they looked... human. Like they were just born and were confused about their surroundings. Newborn babes with no idea of what they were. Just what the hell happened here? He didn't even notice that he dropped his apple. Such a waste.
This was something else... but also very dangerous. Amyas feared this bewilderment of the Adventurers could turn into something worse... Mass hysteria. While carrying that fear, he was more curious now than anything. Just what the hell happened to them?
Amyas noticed a small group of the adventurers gathering. That might be a good way to learn more about this event, eavesdropping. He pocketed his dagger and activated his Hiding Entry skill, bending the light around his body to become invisible. He needed to step lightly though, he could still be heard and smelled if an adventurer's senses are so acute. But with the commotion right now, he hoped no one would notice him. He stepped lightly and stood a good 5 feet behind the blonde woman with spears in leather armour. He would take a mental note of any important parts of their conversation.

The man in front of her, whose name she could clearly see from the floating box atop his head was Hirosame, fell down upon hearing her question him. Maybe I went overboard there. She thinks to herself. I guess he could be confused, like I am. Before she can consider helping him stand back up, he does so himself, and confirms her fears in the process. Inside the game? That's just... Samantha's mind feels like it has just been shattered like a mirror which has been struck by a baseball bat. I know that Sean looked like he was in a trance when he played his video games, but he was still in the room! Before she can voice her disagreement with his conclusion, he continues speaking, giving a nearly plausible explanation of their current predicament. Anna places her index finger over her lips while he speaks, trying to determine if his words could be true. So, if they found a way for us to feel like we are in the game, this is a new feature. That probably means I can leave if I want to, right? Reaching out his hand, Hirosame officially introduces himself to Samantha. Or should I introduce myself as Anna? She thinks. If this is part of the game, I guess I shouldn't be telling everyone my real name. Samantha will have to do. Samantha reaches out her hand to return the gesture, allowing herself to smile at the man and the explanation he provided-whether or not she liked it. She opens her mouth to introduce herself, having decided she will only give her first name, since she has already forgotten the last name she made up. Before their hands meet or any words come out of her agape jaw, however, something-or, rather, someone comes crashing down upon Samantha. Samantha's body crumbles to the ground, her wooden spears breaking her fall in terribly uncomfortable ways. Her head hits the stone beneath her, but thankfully not hard enough to cause her to lose consciousness. Once her daze subsides, she realizes something soft and wet has come into contact with her own slightly parted lips. She blinks her eyes a few times to clear away any lingering blur, and sees two frightened eyes looking back into her own. The person who unwittingly violated her mouth backs away, sobbing. "What kind of game is this?" Samantha asks wiping her mouth and backing away, too. She stands up, coming within inches of the hidden Amyas Eoghan Hodges behind her. "Seriously?" She asks wiping her lips again. She turns her attention toward the girl she just locked lips with and notices that she has the familiar glowing box over her head. Elfriede She reads. Is she trapped in here, too? Maybe this was not the game's fault after all. Samantha takes a few steps forward, and away from the shrouded man behind her. "Are you alright?" She asks, holding out her hand to Elfriende. "Let me help you up." You really should buy a girl drinks before pulling something like that, you know. Samantha thinks, almost audibly laughing at her mental joke. This girl looks scared enough, I don't think saying that out loud will help anyone. Wordz: 535

As Kaos approaches the group he notices a girl running along the rooftops. Watches her plummet, watches her land on and kiss the unwitting blonde. The same small girl who appeared to be arguing or at the very least challenging a Monk who replied in a manner that calmed her down. This is a rag-tag bunch if I ever saw one. He approaches cautiously, feeling a bit uneasy but without a good reason. He just felt like he was being watches and if something or someone was lurking in the shadows nearby, although nothing showed on his display. He watched as the rooftop runner cowered away, rubbing her lips and the blonde got up to help her. He was 10 meters from the group as he thought about his missing wife. If Carol is here then surely she is, her headset was put on before mine was so I could spend my break with her.Abel handed the medical chart to the Nurse and adjusted the straps on the S.R.V.R.S.' Display for his patient, Carol Wiskovski. The Stress Relief Virtual Reality System or S.R.V.R.S., even simply called "Servers", was an experimental treatment he began a year ago. It was originally used for terminal patients to cope with and even overcome their situations, and escape some called it. It was freedom from this world, a place where you could be or do whatever you wanted. The first few patient to sign up simply wanted to be able to talk to their kids and parents without being looked at or treated like they were walking on eggshells. The first five patients, four of which had passed now, claimed it was the best thing to happen to them. Thanks to them, he was able to get the funding to open up an entire ward in the hospital devoted to Servers and help people who were bed-ridden or needed special treatment to reduce stress levels or just needed special therapy to cope with their circumstances.
Carol, for example, was completely paralyzed below the neck and became part of a test to begin tests on neuro-linking with the game. Something Abel was sure caused a lot of pain, but Carol refused to be removed from it, saying she could walk and pick up her son in this world and that was enough for her. If he remembered right Carol's son had just turned 12 and was living with his grandparents; he visited every weekend until his mother was added to the program, now they meet every day. Abel was glad his program was able to help people but he had to remind himself it was all still experimental and Carol was the first ever to receive her particular set of Server Gear.
He was told by the nurse that his new patient had arrived, a Noelle Johnstone: his wife. He had been dreading this moment, even though he was there through her four days of surgery and unconsciousness. He had wanted to kill the driver of the truck that ran her off the road, nearly did too until the officer pinned him to the wall and took the scalpel from his hand. The officer escorted him back to his lab and made sure all the appropriate paperwork and charges were filled out to be filed. He remembered the officer saying something along the lines of it was a miracle she had survived and that she might not have if he hadn't seen the accident unfold. All of which he was thanked for and Abel was thankful for. He sat and waited for all the tests to be ran and even made sure she was given priority in several tests as he needed to make sure she would be fine. He needed to get her to his ward to treat her, to be with her. Abel took a deep breath and walked into his wife's room and smiled, told her she would be alright and make a full recovery although she would have to be in bed for at least a month. He told her about the Servers before but now had to give her the patient speech and get her to sign off on some forms. "Don't worry dear, I have a unit installed in here too. The expansion should be downloaded and installed by now, shall I join you in there?" He put her Server Gear on and powered it up before sitting down and doing the same for himself. Then it happened...Kaos snapped back to his new reality just a few steps short of running into the monk and realizing his position stopped and shook his head slightly. He stepped around to the side of the group and readjusted his glasses. "I am a doctor, do any of you need assistance?" As he looked around the group he watched their names pop up above their heads. First was Hirosame, a Monk then was Elfriede, an assassin who was being offered help by the druid Samantha Lemongrass and nearby was an enchanter named @dusk and tzuf23, the samurai. He bowed respectively in the style of a medieval gentleman and upon resuming his upright posture looked around again, still feeling like he was being watched for some reason.

[attr="class","cscroll"] my eyes can see the death of everything even if that thing is god Accepting the woman's helping hand, Elfriede stared at her a bit before remembering that this woman took her first kiss (even if it was completely Elfriede's fault). Quickly turning her head away, Elfriede blushed as she gently touched her lips. Without words, her face basically said, 'Take responsibility for your actions.' If this scene was in an anime of some sort, the background would probably be replaced with lilies.
Slowly turning to look at the woman again, Elfriede saw a glance of her potential lover's name, Samantha Lemongrass, before quickly turning her head away again.
Huh, a last name as well? Well the name Samantha was probably taken. Single world names are a bit rare. Is she the roleplaying type?
Elfriede ran a plethora of thoughts through her head in an effort to distract herself from the fact that she had just kissed someone. While Samantha was a woman, this wasn't an issue for Elfriede, being bisexual and all; of course, Elfriede couldn't speak for Samantha and did not know about the woman's sexual preferences, but that thought conveniently or inconveniently—depending on how you see it—eluded Elfriede's thoughts.
Looking around, Elfriede noticed several other players. Immediately her deathly shyness kicked in and she instinctively activated the skill Hide Walk, vanishing for two seconds before appearing behind a nearby crate. She looked at each of their names: Dusky, Tzuf23, Kaos, and… Hirosame?
Didn't Midori once mention someone with that name?
Elfriede remembered Midori mentioning someone with that name; they apparently played a different MMO together before. Elfriede had never met him before, neither off nor online, so she was unsure if this was the same person that she was thinking of.
I probably should ask, shouldn't I?
However, for Efriede, asking someone a question was easier said than done. Having been a mute until recently, speaking was still rather foreign to Elfriede. She was able to barely make out some sentences when she met Midori and Wood Carbuncle at Big Ben, but it was difficult and rather awkward for her. Sign language was what she normally defaulted to, but not too many people seemed to know how to read sign language.
Wait, what about that notepad I just bought?
Remembering that she had just recently purchased a notepad, Elfriede opened the holographic menu and searched for her inventory.
Stats, no. Log Out Button, if only you worked. Friends List, maybe later. Mini Map, n—that could have been useful earlier. Magic Bag, yes.
Selecting the notepad, quill pen, and ink well she purchased earlier, Elfriede began writing.
'Yes, I'm alright. I apologize if I harmed you in anyway. Thank you for your concern and for'
Elfriede's face turned beet red as she tried to finish her response. Elfriede just sort of stood there, motionless, for a few seconds as she tried completing the message. However, she slowly turned away as she slid the incomplete note towards Samantha.
Quickly switching gears, Elfriede wrote another note, handing it to Hiro.
'Do you know someone who goes by the in game name of Midori?'

Samantha helps Elfriede stand up and smiles at her. Why am I smiling? If she was a boy, I would be giving her, or him, the wrong idea right now. And why are they staring at me like that? Samantha's smile slips away finding the silence quite unnerving. She had never been too comfortable with silence. Perhaps that was why she felt the need to talk constantly. But right now, when it came right down to it, she was not sure how to handle this situation, and hence was at a loss for words. What on earth am I supposed to say to this girl that wont make me sound like a jerk-or kind of creepy? Before anything materializes in her mind, however, they are interrupted by another voice. Thank God. Samantha thinks, turning toward the voice. A rather unique looking man in a coat is approaching, named Kaos from what Samantha can tell. Does he look like that in real life, or do people look like their character instead of themselves? Up until that point, Samantha had nothing to base that on, having created a character which closely resembled herself. She had so many questions swimming through her head, in fact, this game had intrigued her far more than she would admit, or had even realized for that matter. "I think I will be alright physically." Samantha says. "But if you are offering assistance, I would like to know how I can get out of this game." This doctor person was another player, right? She wonders. He has the box, but what if that is part of the game, too? "I would like to get back home ASAP. I have a lot of things to do." She had not completely forgotten the girl who had kissed her, but her mind had turned to the matter of her escape when she was handed a small note. She holds in up and reads it aloud. "Yes, I'm alright. I apologize if I've harmed you in anyway. Thank you for your concern and for." She looks back at Elfriede and says. "I'm not mad at you; you can talk to me if you want." Yes, that was a good thing to say, and I just thought of it! "Or is the next part what you wanted to tell me?" Wordz:387

Okay, Everett, don't panic. Breathe. It's not that big a deal... you're just... he looked down at his suddenly much more slender and feminine hands, the long hair on his head, and his... erm... assets. Female. You're just female. It's only your worst nightmares coming tru- "ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEEEEEE?!"
-------
Anyone watching among the chaos of the Catastrophe might notice a girl with long brown hair and a white, robe-like dress wandering through the streets with the same panicked look as a number of other Adventurers. What you would -not- know is that this girl is not who she appears to be. Kandace, the Level 1 Bard, was currently having a panic attack less over the fact that she was in the world of her favorite game, and more that she was in a body of the wrong gender. She eventually made her way over to a nearby tree that was fairly isolated from the rest of the crowd, sitting down with her arms wrapped around her knees.
Kandace, or Everett as she had once been called, had woken up thankfully in isolation, discovering his- or rather, her- predicament. If it had been just transporting to another world, he probably would have been elated. Getting to actually be the bard who leveled up and explored the world of Elder Tales would be like something out of a dream. But it seems it comes with a catch; you have to be in the body of the character you created. Had he known, he probably wouldn't have made another female character. Maybe a bard with a similar build who at least looked somewhat athletic. Not this thin, scraggly girl. Wasn't she supposed to be one of the weapon master classes?
Okay. So I get the body, but my voice is still the same. Maybe I can pass as a girl- oh who am I kidding, my voice is way too deep, and then it'll be high school all over again. She slumped with a sigh leaning headfirst into her knees, trying to ignore the awkward new shape of her body. It had been hard enough adjusting to a body around half a foot shorter than she originally was, she didn't need to worry about the rest... or did she? Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?
The trans-gender bard forced herself to look up, seeing a small group of adventurers gathering. Their status windows revealed them as a Druid, a Monk, an Enchanter, a Summoner, and an Assassin. The gamer in her thought about what a solid adventuring party that would be, but the human, who needed some sort of stability, thought only of establishing some form of social connection. After all, loneliness is almost as bad as being stuck in the wrong body. But how to get around the whole cross-player thing? With a quick flick of her wrist, Kadence brought up her menu, double-checking her information. Yes! I'm still a scribe! If that's the case... she gave a sigh of relief as she saw the [Transcription] Ability. Time to man- er, woman up and go meet some people.
Gathering what little courage she had, Kadence forced herself to her feet and wandered over to the group, stumbling for a moment behind the druid. Was there something- nah, it was probably just her not being used to the shortness yet. Approaching the group, she she stepped forward and began to use [Transcription] to scrawl out some letters in the air. Her finger was like a wand or pen, leaving behind a trail of blue light in the air. It was a little shaky, and her "handwriting" was poor, but it was legible enough to read. It simply said: Excuse me, but does anyone know what's going on? Realizing she hadn't properly introduced herself, she had the grace to look a bit embarrassed before adding My name is Kandace. Pleased to meet you.

Kaos looked at the group unsure of how to answer, from his deductions there was no leaving. The log out button didn't work and his Server couldn't be removed. Honesty is the best course of action but how to word it... He took a deep breath to answer. "So far, I have only been able to determine that -" He stopped as another girl stumbled into the group, a Bard named Kadence. She was a rather awkward girl, thin and seemed rather clumsy as if she weren't comfortable in her own skin. I guess those types were even found in games but in this new world maybe it was something else. He watched her write in the air to ask her question as well as introduce herself. "Ah, yes. I forgot to introduce myself: My name is Kaos, a summoner and doctor. I haven't spent much time here, probably no more that you all have, but I have noticed that our log-out commands are gone, not to mention without Virtual Reality being released yet, it is safe to assume that this may not be the game as we know it. I have only truly determined that we have no means of exit as of yet. I do not know the cause, the antidote, if you will. Or even the reason we are here. That being said, I am open to further research on the matter." Kaos listened to the words he just spoke echo through his head and knew how they sounded: Crazy. He sounded absolutely insane, yet this was the situation he was dealt. He readjusted his glasses and leaned on a nearby crate as his own words continued to echo This is insane, a bad joke. If there is a higher power, this is one messed up game of Sims and I'd rather not be a part of it. He let out a gentle sigh and waited as his word sunk in both for himself and the others.

hello and goodbye Well, things are starting to get a little lively around here Dusky thought to himself. He chewed absent-mindedly on an apple from a nearby vendor, watching the monk now interact with a blonde female player that suddenly came running up. Brandishing spears in each hand as she did so. If that didn't trigger a Royal Guard, then one might be showing up sometime soon if she accidentally whacked someone with it.
He thought he caught a whiff of something, like the smell of person. But now that he thought about it, there were quite a few people here. With a shrug, he went back to cruching on his apple, paying no mind to the juice that dribbled down his fur as he watched the commotion ensue. A girl had suddenly face-planted onto the blonde and the drama continued onwards from there. It was all he could do to keep himself from spitting his apple everywhere at the ridiculous scene. He turned when he heard the sound of discussion, where a Samurai was discussing various things with other Adventurers. It looked like he was asking questions about as to what this world was and other related things, yet the trio he talked to looked very similar to the people he was currently observing. He ignored them for the time being, turning his attention back to the matter at hand. More and more people began to crowd around in the area, Dusky starting to feel a little more claustrophobic as the bodies began to converge on this spot.In fact, it was getting downright uncomfortable for the werecat. The sun was beating down on him (despite the fact that he was standing in the shade of the stall), more and more people were making their way over here, and he was finding it harder and harder to keep track of who was who. Desperate to find a place where he could stretch his arms without hitting someone, he began to navigate through the mess of bodies.
"Excuse me, pardon the intrusion," were the only things he said as he squeezed his way through. Once he was on the side where an empty path was, he turned around and addressed the crowd. "I'm sure none of you know me, but it was a pleasure to kinda meet you, you and you," said Dusky, pointing his wooden staff at Hirosame, Samantha Lemongrass and Kaos. "I'm not sure what to think of you yet," he remarked as he pointed his staff at Elfriede, "and to those who don't know me, my name is Dusky. It's been a pleasure to somewhat make your acquaintance."Without so much as blinking an eye, he twirled around and began walking down the much less crowded path. The steady tap tap of his staff slowly receded into the distance as he began his solo exploration of the town. Wherever the answers to his questions may lie, he was certain he would not find them here.Words: 496 | Tags: tzuf23 Amyas Eoghan Hodges KadenceOOC Notes: Not really an exit post, just separating Dusky from the rest of the group so I know who's interacting with him (if any interactions should occur).

Just as his hand was about to reach out to the girl before him, yet another being had suddenly appeared amid the confusion that was already apparent. This time, as if straight out of a Yuri novel, the two females' lips locked for a sudden moment, as the first female was suddenly crushed by the falling second female. Having been completely taken aback by the shock, Hiro slowly receded his hand from the position it was in, and returned it to his side. His mind flashed back to the scene that he had been a part of earlier, and, since nobody else knew what exactly happened, he wouldn't go ahead and divulge the information at all. Instead, he just shuddered at the awkwardness of both the situation before, and what had just happened right now. It seemed as though both the girls were just fine, as it is, and that they were about to begin some kind of a conversation. As that had begun, it seemed as though others had begun approaching the scene, now making the small place where the rag-tag group of adventurers had met into a much more crowded area.
As more people had arrived, Hiro couldn't help but think about how there were so many other people stuck in this world now. Granted, he didn't know at the time that they were trapped here yet, but that doesn't make much of a difference, considering that the truth will eventually be found out. All the same, though, there were plenty of other people here, seemingly stuck for the time being. As much as he could guess, the rationale he had provided earlier was correct, and there had to be some way to get out, perhaps at some point later on this evening. Maybe the company that had created the game had a general wait time before one could log out after logging back in, in order to prevent people from queuing up for a raid or something of that sort, and then leaving at the start, to screw over the others who would be involved. Since there wasn't any real way to prove this, though, he kept it on the back burner, not assuming that even this was the real case. Since they were technically in unknown territory, he had to keep his mind open to all the situations that could arise.
His train of thought was very quickly derailed, as people began to speak to one another. Since the monk was still nearby the blonde haired girl, who had yet to introduce themselves still, the conversations that were had were all within easy earshot from where he stood. As the people nearby started to converse, he couldn't help but listen in a little bit. But, since he was still kind of shy around new people at this point, he knew that he couldn't really just jump right into conversations as they were being had with others, assuming that he wasn't to be included during said talks. They likely had nothing to deal with him, so he would just let himself fade into the background, until someone spoke to him. That didn't include note passing, though, apparently. The second female, whom had fallen from the sky, as it seemed, had given him a note with some words on them. The words, causing his eyes to widen, were asking him if he knew of Midori. Midori had been a long-time friend of Hiro's, since the days from when Mabinogi was still quite popular. As soon as he had finished reading the words, he looked to the girl, but was ultimately interrupted by the Enchanter nearby.
Having been given a rather interesting introduction by the cat-eared Enchanter, Hiro was left stunned for a few more moments. The enchanter, who had introduced themselves as @dusk by this point, spoke his piece, turned around, and began to leave. Unsure why, Hiro couldn't help but feel like he needed to follow this person for the time being. Perhaps a draw of his own curiosity, or maybe the dislike of people leaving without having introduced himself to said people, his curiosity was piqued. But, he looked back at the girl who had given him the note for just a second, before needing to answer her question. Conflicted, he shut his eyes tight, head turned towards the ground for just a moment, deep in thought. Finding his resolve, he looked at the Assassin girl once again, and responded. "Yes, I know Midori." Without another word, Hiro turned around, and started to run after the Enchanter, who was now a little ways away. "Hey, wait up!" He called after Dusky. Planting one foot in front of the other, he made his way over to the Enchanter's side, eventually meeting his pace. He had to ask the werecat a question, before anything else. "Sorry, my name's Hiro. I didn't introduce myself yet to you, so I thought I would." Finishing his initial rationale, he continued. "Do you have any idea what's going on here? Like, are we actually stuck in this game, if you know?" Simple, powerful questions, but probably not something to ask someone you just met.

The enchanter and the monk wandered off after some brief dialogue, leaving Kadence with the other adventurers listening to the summoner and his theory. She was a little sad to see them head off, but nothing could really be done. At the summoner's... Kaos right? At his words, Kadence slumped. Ugh. It -is- permanent, isn't it... She could feel some tears starting to form, and she sniffled, swiping them away with the back of her hand. Well, at least he seemed like a nice enough guy. Doctors are trustworthy, right? At the very least, he seemed smart. There's was something slightly unnerving about the way he adjusted his glasses though... Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Kadence tapped into [Transcription] again. I know this is sort of sudden she hesitated a moment, then slowly forced herself to sketch out the rest of her suggestion but it might be a good idea to stick together. If this really is Elder Tales, the danger of the monsters out there could be real. Just the thought of the monsters made her uncomfortable, but if they wanted to learn anything about this world, they'd need to leave Londinium. I'm not suggesting a guild or anything she hastily added as an afterthought, but having people we know and can work together with would be a step in the right direction.Word Count: 226

A tumbleweed floats about. You didn't think these existed outside of Western films.
There is a piece of paper attached to it as it rolls about.
"Take the initiative, don't wait for someone who's probably waiting for you!"

“I agree” I suddenly hear myself say “Me and kaos we've both been out there and the monsters are a real threat and until we understand how we got here we may want to join up at least for now”. “If anyone wants to leave and go on their way that’s fine with me but this is our best option” I add thinking whether they’ll agree and if not were would I go with kaos. I also saw the enchanter and the monk leave. They were interesting characters and i'm sure ill meet them at some point in the future. Kaos also told his theory and although i already herd it from him it’s still interesting. Even though inside I didn't really want to believe it because it meant losing all hope.
