| It had been a long year.
Since the day of the Catastrophe, as she'd heard people call it, Charity's life had been in turmoil. In a strange place, surrounded by strange people, with a strange way of life and strange creatures roaming just outside the walls of this strange city, she was trapped.
At first had been the times when everyone was as scared as she was. Then they discovered they couldn't die, and that they had unnatural magic and strength. Most people adjusted, most people lived. Not Charity. For a year, she hid. Scared, alone, and separated from the only friends she'd ever known and from the one friend who'd said they would help her learn the ways of this world. For a year, she cried, and screamed, and wallowed in depression and misery. For a year, she waited.
The year had been eventful for other Adventurers. She'd heard whispers, but nothing more. She turned a blind eye and closed her ears to this horrible nightmare. But a year is a long time, and it was after a year that she composed herself. Enough was enough. She was going to live in this nightmare, one way or another.
A year after the Catastrophe, she stepped out of Londinium for the first time.
---
Her sword, a "Zweihander" according to the infographic in front of her eyes, was clutched tightly in her trembling hands. She cautiously marched through the Greatwood, furtively glancing in every direction for fear of monster attack. Charity had strayed from the path, according to the people in town that was where the monsters were. That was where she needed to go if she wanted to fight, and learn.
With no-one to guide her, she searched. Her heart beating, her ears pounding, blood pumping through her supposedly virtual body as she hardly composed herself enough to not turn tail and flee. As she searched, she pushed her way through a small bush and into a clearing. As she looked up, their eyes met. Her, and what looked like... a pig. With tusks. And two smaller pigs next to it. Names appeared.
The smaller ones were Young Pittered Boars, each level 1. The larger, a regular Pittered Boar. Level 6. And staring at her, like a mother ready to defend it's children at any cost. Which it likely was.
She gulped, trembled, and raised her sword.
"S-Sorry!" She cried, as she charged forwards with her overly massive sword raised over her head. Eyes closed, screaming, she ran right into the Pittered Boar's tusks. Before she could even land a hit, it tossed her aside and flung her across the clearing. Rolling along the ground, hitting roots and rocks, Charity struggled to get back up.
"N-No..." she stammered. She knew death was not the end in this world, but that didn't make her any less scared. As her whole body shook, the Boar stared her down. It lowered it's head, malicious intent clear in it's eyes, and prepared to charge.
There was only one thing she could do.

Ryth was wandering through the beginning areas of windsor greatwood. the fact that he couldn't do anything until this late in the game annoyed him but he didn't waste time complaining on his crappy position and started to look for a beast to kill and gain experience off of. walking through the forest though, he simply couldn't believe how lifelike everything was. he could literally see each blade of grass sway individually in the slight wind. his reverie was cut short however as he heard a scream for help; rushing towards whatever it was he found a user by the name of charity cornered by a level 6 boar with it's rear pointing directly at the newcomer of this situation. thinking quickly he rushed towards the boar, drawing his two swords and slashing the boar in an x formation, activating his ability and teleporting him in between the boar and the scared user word count: 147

A flash of his longsword and that was it the monster was dead, protecting the girl it was attacking. To explain what had happened what just happened let's go back about three minutes before and see who this hero is in detail. A young Fox Tail with red hair named Verin was making preparations for a certain test he would put himself through later when he heard a high sounding call for help to which he instantly reacted to. Waving his fox ears around Verin picked out the direction that the sound was coming from and quickly made his way there with use of his Acrobat subclass to see a gnarly and mangled looking boar which was about to charge at the girl who already seemed to have taken a hit. Quickly reacting Verin drew out Eis Null only to see another person jump in and help but not attack back at the monster. Deciding to act quickly Verin jumped towards the monster and ended its life with a single slash. After that Verin moved on to the one of the two younger boars that were also there and hoped that the other person there would finish off the last one. Verin maneuvered his blade and, with a simple swordplay trick, was able to mess with the young boars mind for a second which was just what he needed to kill the pest. The grass crunched softly under Teuthida's boots, the gently breeze felt good on her face. This was her first time in the Windsor Greatwood, as it was far from the sea. She sighed softly to herself as she pressed further into the Combat Area. Ahead she heard the sound of battle, but more importantly that meant people. New People even. She ran forward, feeling the wind lick her cheeks, her blue hair billowing and breaking like the sea waves behind her as she ran. The thud of her boots on the ground seemed almost foreign compared to the soft sand that she was used to. She turned at a tree on her left as she heard a small voice say sorry followed by the familiar sound of a body slamming into the ground.
She climbed the nearest tree to survey the situation. She saw a small meek girl, covered in pale blue tattoos with turquoise hair. My Kind of girl! She thought as it was one of her favorite colors, obvious by her own hair and outfit. She watched as the boar prepared to attack. Suddenly a boy jumped in, another Swashbuckler like herself. She pulled out her pistol and readied it to shoot the boar, a very elaborate entrance planned and then a fox ear rushes in with a sword, finishing off all three boars quickly and efficiently. Well, there goes my chance to be a hero...
Teuthida jumps down out of the tree and into the center of the clearing. "Ya-Hello~!" She waves to everyone and extends her hand to the turquoise haired Shaman. "How about some help up?" She smiled at the girl, her blur hair falling by her face and the sun reflecting slightly off the pirate insignia on her hat.

| Everything happened very fast from Charity's perspective (which was the floor).
As the Boar charged at her, certain doom approaching at a rapid pace, help arrived from almost every angle. Like a flood from the trees came three other adventurers.
The first seemed to be slightly shorter than the others and clad in chain, his short brown hair flowing behind him as he attacked the Boar with his twin katanas before vanishing into thin air. A moment later he appeared in front of Charity, ready to intercept the barreling swine. Before it could hit, however, entered the second of the three heroes.
Compared to the relative realism of the appearance of the first, the second was absolutely bizarre. A boy, with fox-like features and bright red hair, wearing a similarly red coat emblazoned with a rising sun. With a single swing of his sword, an icy blue contrasting with the firey red of the rest of him, the Boar was slain. In a moment, he was then on the younger Boars, and they too were dispatched.
With the clearing clear, the third of the three adventurers dropped in. Literally. Descending from a tree branch was a girl with long, blue hair who stood at about the same height that Charity did. She cheerily greeted the others, then turned to face Charity. As her blue eyes looked down at the Shaman, a hand outstretched to help her up, Charity finally noticed the names displayed above their heads.
Ryth. Dwarf Swashbuckler, Level 1. Verin. Fox Tail Sorcerer, Level 18. And Teuthida, Wolf Hair Swashbuckler, Level 1.
"Th-Th-Th-Thank you..." Charity said, barely managing to stammer out the words as she attempted to get over her shellshock. She took Teuthida's hand, slowly raising herself up from the ground, and looked at the party of people who had saved her. "Thank you so much... I-I don't think I would have made it, if..."
She trailed off, looking to be almost about to burst into tears. What a great adventurer she turned out to be, almost getting killed in her first battle, what good was she then? How was she supposed to survive? How would she get by in a world like this if she couldn't even beat a measly pig? Useless Useless Useless Useless.
She was crying, before she even knew it.
"I-I-I'm sorry!" She cried, falling to her knees again, and dropping her sword. "I thought- I thought I could... Maybe I could fight.... B-But I don't know- I've never p-played this kind of game! I don't... I..." | | 424 words |

Ryth simply watched as the boar charged him only for it to be massacred by another adventurer walking in, taken aback at the ease in which the male destroyed the beasts he simply stood there in shock for a few seconds before sheathing his katana, ready to thank the man before the other adventurer arrived. when she landed he waved a hand at her "thanks for coming. if..." he took a second to read the user "verin didn't arrive we could've really used your help." while he said that the girl went to pick up Charity. remembering why he rushed there he turned to the girl who was tearing up before she finished her thank you which confused him since they couldn't die in the game until she started to wail about sucking. feeling pain well up in his chest he walked towards the girl and pat her on the head, more to get her attention than anything else. "hey, it's okay. you just need to get better, I had no clue what to do after I got between you and the boar"

After defeating all three of the monsters things seemed to calm down some a bit and Verin finally sheathed his sword and placed it back into his bag. From there it seemed like there was another person here and took the form of a blue haired Wolf Hair. Next it seemed that the victim was blubbering out her explanation as to why the event had happened and the other person who Verin had stolen the kills from was trying to calm her down while the blue haired girl tried help get the victim up on her own two feet. Making his way over to the three rookie adventurers and only said, " If you want I can teach all three of you something since you three are all rookies. I have a specific target in these woods that we can go after and I'm sure you guys would all gain a good amount of battle experience from it and from there you would all be rather set for anything that you would want to tackle in later battles." After that he stood there with a calming smile and then something came to memory, " Oh by the way my name is Verin just so you know." With that Verin remained silence while the three in front of him stood there, calmed down, and process the information and give their answers. WC: 228 Tags: Charity Falkenrath, ryth, Teuthida

Teuthida dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around the crying it. "No~ Don't cry!" She hugged the girl tight as the two boys came over. She released her as the other swashbuckler began to console her as well. Ida stood up and swished her tail from side to side as the other man came over. He looked like a swordsman but still looked like a spellcaster. She listened as she offered help and called them all beginners, causing her to blush slightly. How did he know we're all beginners without really watching us fight?
Ida's left ear twitched as she looked around at the group and listened to what Verin suggested. "I can't answer for everyone here, but I'll never turn down a challenge." Her tail swished back and forth behind her as she thought about a new chance to fight. Two Swashbucklers, a Shaman, and whatever Verin is. I'm not sure how well the party system works here but this is an interesting setup. However, Verin seems to be fairly high in level.
She knelt down again and grabbed onto Charity's hands to help her up again. She knelt down and whispered into Charity's ear, her chest close to the girl's face. "Don't worry, it looks like you have some people willing to help you. We all know what it's like to leave the city for the first time and how scary it can be. At the very least, I'm here for you~" She smiled as she stood upright to pull Charity to her feet.

| Tears blurring her vision, Charity faced the floor. Her eyes cupped her face, and she could only hear muffled voices over the incessant droning of negative thought in her head. However, a moment later, she felt warmth. Arms wrapped around her, a voice in her ear.
"No~ Don't cry!"
Before she knew it, both the blue-haired girl and Dwarvern Swashbuckler were by her side, offering comfort and consolement. A pat on the head, a hug, kind words, support... things she hadn't had in over a year. Things she'd missed...
She looked up, her eyes still wet and puffy, around at the group. Smiling faces. Friendly people. People who would help even her, a low-leveled idiot with no clue what she was doing. People who had come to her aid, without a second thought, with no promise of reward.
She was lucky...
The firey Fox Tail approached the three rookie adventurers. He seemed calm, but similarly supportive, with a small smile on his face and an air of somebody who was willing to help and teach. A little more stoic than the others, but just as nice. Just as friendly. As she listened, he proposed a simple training exercise; he would guide them, and they would help him fight a monster. She wouldn't be alone. She'd have help, support, people to watch her back. Maybe she could...
"I-I-I'll do it!" She exclaimed, without thinking, before placing her hand back to her mouth as if surprised at her own outburst. She blushed, and a moment later, continued speaking in a much more reclusive tone than previously. "S-sorry, I mean- I mean I'll help. It's the least I can do, a-after you saved me. I d-don't have any money, but I can... I can learn to fight."
Teuthida agreed too, and turned back to help Charity up. As she did, she leaned in close, and whispered. Whispered more encouragement. More nice words. More support for the still very shaken Charity. She got up to her feet, her legs still trembling a little, and forced out a very nervous and unsure smile.
"Th-thank you... I-I'll do the best I can, I owe- I owe you all." She said. She turned, glancing around the area at her feet, before her eyes found her sword. With a little grunt, she lifted it back up and into both hands, resting the end on the ground behind her.
"M-My name's Charity. Charity Falkenrath. And- And thank you. Thank you, all of you, for saving me." She turned to each member of the group in turn as she spoke, her voice a little more bold, her stance a little more confident, a little more ready to fight and learn and grow.

Ryth smiled as the others came to help charity in her time of need and stood back as the others talked to her, lifting her spirits immensely from what it was in the beginning. as soon as the far superior levelled user suggested that they come together and hunt down one monster for much needed battle experience he was honestly surprised when Charity accepted so strongly. "yeah, I'll go" by the time he finished agreeing though Charity already began to put herself down again. turning back to the girl he waited for her to finish her statement "you don't need to be good at fighting now. you are level one. we all are going to suck in the beginning. as for owing me, how about we just friend each other? we can keep in touch then and help each other at a later time." he already had his menu out to send a friend request.

Seeing that everyone had accepted Verin's offer Verin smiled out while letting his mind switch over to semi-drill sergeant mode and spoke only ten words that would most likely scare these three rookies and make them think that Verin was insane, " Hunt everything in this forest that's level 10 or less." With this Verin toned his mind back down and spoke in a much more calming voice, " Oh also don't worry I've already formulated different plans in my head for you guys to follow depending on the skills you choose since I already know your main classes just by reading your name hub. We've got two Swashbucklers and one Shaman with limited support from me if needed. Right now I have about ten different formations and twenty different plans that can be used effectively and make the daunting workload I just gave you all seem like it's only a small rock instead of a boulder. Also just so you know there are only eight different mobs that you have to kill, with the Garden Snake being the hardest because it has the passive skill Camouflage, and there is one exception to this which is the Iron Tusked Gerald because while it says it's a level 10 it's more like a level 15 due to it being an Elite Class monster." After giving this large speech Verin stepped back and allowed himself catch his breath and then said one more thing. " Okay after giving you that large amount of information I would like you to process it and then give me information on your skills, so I can whittle the options down to where we have three plans and three different formations please." | SINCE I WAS VERY YOUNG, I REALIZED I NEVER WANTED TO BE HUMAN SIZE | | There was nothing to do when you were all by yourself out here. Sure she could endlessly grind low level monsters but that sounded about as fun as kicking herself in the head by herself. Yawning, the druidess stretched her arms and watched her young wolf pup chase a butterfly around the field she was in. At least one of them had found something to do.
Little did she know that while wandering north she would come across a large crowd of players. None of them seemed to be paticularly high level except for the sorcerer in the group. She cringed slightly, if they weren't friendly she was going to regret swapping from her level twenty-seven melee class. Deciding whether or not to show herself- Lu paused only to be betrayed by a curious summon.
Bounding out towards the group without a care in the world, the small wolf pup wagged it's tail. It had big bright eyes that gave off an innocent look, very non-threatening. "Buwhaaaaaa! Come back here!" she shouted as she chased after the wolf pup as frantically waving her arms in the air. Today was going to be interesting to say the least, especially if they were hostile.
Coming to a stop, Lu panted more out of reflex than neccessitiy. Looking up at the crew before her she tried to put on her best smile but she was unsure what sort of reception she was about to get. "Uh.. hi guys!" she said with a nervous laugh, now rubbing the back of her head. Probably not the smoothest intro she had ever done but it worked in terms of breaking the ice.
"Sorry to interupt. I was just chasing my friend here when I noticed your group." she said. Looking at the HUD she noted that they seemed to only have one low level support class in their group. Goody! A new healer, she immediately felt the need to hover and try to assist with "training" her.
"I guess unless you need something I'll uh.. be going?" she said leaving it open ended. | | MADE BY KAIZU OF GS & TWF |

Teuthida smiled softly as she looked around the group. "Well, aren't we just a ragtag crew~? All ready to go on an adventure and learn new things!" She opened up her menu by waving her finger in front of her and opened up the friend request page and flicked her finger towards Charity, followed by Ryth and Verin, sending the requests along with it. "Well, Verin-sensei start us up a party and lead o-" She was suddenly interupted by a rustling in the bush, casing her to instintively reach for her pistol. A small, very adorable wolf pup bounded through the bush and stared up at her.
She knelt down to pet the wolf pup and giggled softly to herself just as the owner of the pup came crashing through the underbrush, her arms flailing wildly. Ida, thought it was a monster at first and drew her pistol, but upon noticing the player name and class she reholtered her flintlock on her thigh and looked at the newcomer. "Ya-hello Luiniel-chan~. I don't think you're interupting, we're just preparing to go out on a training mission. Is this your cute little wolf pup?" She smiled widely and kept petting the pup, focusing on rubbing its belly and scratching its ears. "Why don't you join us?You just have to let me play with this little guy~! Oh, yes, you do~!" She turned to look at the others and smiled, using her super moe smile. "Please~ We could always use a Shaman."

| Before she knew it, it seemed Charity had become member of a quickly thrown together hunting party. Not only that, but based on the little pop-up notifications appearing in her view, she'd made a few friends already. In less than an hour, she'd accomplished more than she had in a year. Things looked like they might actually start to pick up for her in days to come...
She looked at Ryth, and then at Teuthida, who had both sent her a friend request. Both smiled, both friendly, both prepared to help someone as useless and needy as her. She couldn't help but smile, a little sadly, as she gladly pressed the "Accept" button. A moment later, the number of friends in her list went from 0 to 2.
"Th-Thank you!" She said, before turning back to their de facto party leader who sprung into a quite long but fast explanation of their plan. As he talked, the sudden and fast torrent of information entering her brain caused Charity to reel for a second, before eventually coming to her senses. "U-Um! Mr Verin! I- We're only level 1, I d-don't think we can go as high as level 10... maybe- maybe a bit lower? You're the only one near th-that level in our g-group, after all..."
As if to contradict her, a creature burst out of the bushes. Charity yelped, closed her eyes, and jumped away from the small wolf with her sword very quickly held in her trembling hands in front of her. As she slowly opened her eyes again, she saw another figure quickly emerge from the same direction as the wolf.
She appeared to be about Charity's height, and of the same species as Verin as indicated by the white, furry fox ears atop her head. Her hair was the same colour, flowing from her head and behind her as she ran after her pet. As she stopped, and looked at the party, Charity finally got to look at her bright red eyes and shivered slightly. Creeeeeepy.
As the girl stopped, a name appeared. Luinel. Fox Tail Druid. Level 10. She seemed a little bit nervous, probably about having run into a group of strangers (Charity knew she would be too in the same situation), but the Druid appeared otherwise harmless. In fact, she very quickly offered her support to the group, in a roundabout way. And with the way Teuthida had practically adopted the Druid's pet, it seemed like she was coming along with them.
"I- I don't mind..." Charity said, finally realising she was still pointing her sword at the girl and lowering it. "I mean, um... I'm not- not the best Healer... it might help to have s-someone with experience..."
She looked at her skill list. Not a single healing skill. At the time, she'd thought it a good idea. On retrospect, maybe she wouldn't be as useful to this party as she'd hoped... At least her barrier could potentially stop some damage, and she could maybe buff herself to potentially do some damage. Other than that, she had little use other than an extra body. | | 521 |

Ryth couldn't help but smile as charity accepted her request and he accepted telutha's request, also setting his friends counter to 2. this good mood ended though as Verin announced his plan to have them face level 10 enemies in this area. "Verin, might I be able to point out my opinion on your plan?" without waiting for an answer Ryth got straight into his rant "how the hell are level 1s going to survive fighting against anything close to level 10s! even if you do make good synergies that would get us facing level sevens at best, sending us out to face overwhelming odds is like throwing us into the first dark souls boss of the game, you might as well say prepare to die and start fighting us yourself!" before he could go into any more detail an unknown being came into the clearing, causing Ryth to bring his swords back out in preparation. it was all for naught however as the intruder was just a wolf summon as indicated by his owner's scream to get back to her. he couldn't help but laugh as she ran in, bringing his swords back to their sheaths he watched Telutha playing with the dog, his priority turned to the girl as she was nervously trying to gauge their intentions. "don't worry, hopefully you can help us convince the OP guy with us to not have us face level 10 enemies at level one."

" Exactly what I wanted to hear." After the rookies had stated their opinion Verin had gotten the response he had wanted so he put on a smile and said, " You guy are smart enough to know your limits while people like me don't. As a reward hunt only things level four and under this way the goal is much easier to handle on your own and as a group since there are only four different targets to hunt that fit the description I just gave you. Give a sec and I'll give you a formation or two that you can follow and more in depth information on your targets." Not waiting for a response Verin dropped his bag to the ground and started rummaging in it for his notes that he had kept with him for such a long time. While searching through his info Verin also took notice to the newcomer which looked to be a rookie due to her equipment, but after looking at her status bar Verin could see she was a level 10 Druid. After about a minute Verin found the correct notes and red them off to the group. " Okay here is the list of targets for you are Dull Green Slime which has one skill called Mana Attraction, use magic and you'll get it's attention without aggroing it. The rest are Young Pitted boar, no skills, Frenmic Rabbit no skills, and Garden Snake, it has three skills. The first of it's skills is Camouflage, you won't see it unless it's 2 meters away from you or less, next is Poison Attack, you have a 25% of getting continues damage for 10 seconds, finally Poison Fang, you don't have to worry about it because only level 5 Garden Snakes or higher." After putting away his notes Verin gathered his bag, heard his message box ring, and said, " Also as for formation have Ryth in front, then Teuthida in middle, then have the new comer and Charity in back. When enemies are weak open up a path and have Charity finish them off because her sword is a sure kill. With this I hope you guys do well, something came up on my end, so I'll be leaving. If you guys want go ahead and add me to your friends lists and I'll give you my address where I live and you guys can visit me if you wish, though I'll be leaving on a long trip in a month." With this Verin made his way back to Londinium while waving good bye to the group. Verin leaves the thread WC:430 Tags: Charity Falkenrath, ryth, Teuthida, Luiniel
