As it stands, the way I saw support being defined was someone using their classes skillset to the benefit of others; this includes, for example, all of the healing classes, using their skills to keep their allies health up, but it also includes people who use non-support classes, and twist them and utilise what skills they have to make a more support-oriented mindset; of course, that is just my opinion, and it's welcome to be considered or pushed aside as is required. ^3^

Hm, very true Kyou! I can totally see the point you are trying to make. Like I said this is an interest check, and I want this guild to be more of an "our" guild rather than "my" guild. :) If everyone else (who is interested in being part of the guild) thinks support class should be based on build rather than class (or both? as long as you are a support class, or a non support class with a support build?) then that is the way it shall go. :D Ooh, maybe if you are like a tank with a subclass that is support. That would be nice too huh? *u*
edit: going to update the second post, thanks for the input again everyone !
edit x2: do these seem like good subclasses to accept people with if they don't play a support class and/or don't have a support build?
- apothecary - dancer - priest - housekeeper - gardener - exorcist - sigilmaker - scholar
need to add/remove any?

Harmie, if you're going to choose subclasses then maybe you should consider having a subgroup within your guild that is just crafting since I think all crafters could be considered a support sublcass.
EDIT: Also I think if you were to do this, this would solve most if not all the holes Dumah and I were probably thinking about.

I agree, all crafters could be considered a support subclasses... which is kind of why I don't want to use crafting subclass as a way to determine membership into the guild. >< I don't have the right words to explain it at the moment, but if I were to give an example, I can have a tank who tanks and has a berserker subclass request to join the crafting division, and I won't be able to decline is request definition-wise, but his values wouldn't really fit with the guild overall yknow? I was also thinking that the guild could have a focus when it comes to crafting-- mostly on herbs, medicine (potions, pills, etc), and baked goods. ^^ Maybe I should accept people based on certain crafting classes too if they don't meet the main/rp subclass requirements? O: What do you guys think. Oh and lots of research. :D
Also it's my hope to work closely with other guilds, doing research together etc, forming those nice relations and stuff. c: I think it would be really cool to work with other guilds to come up with technology that can heal landers or something... idk. Just throwing random ideas around.
Anyway,on an unrelated note, I'll be setting up a PM group for those interested and/or actually go about making the guild soon since we have enough people. Then we can discuss more things there. I just really want people who are going to be in the guild to have their say yknow? ^^

Well here's another thought. Maybe instead of just picking the crafting to include or not maybe base it on the crafting level vs the rp level. Taking the example you used about a berserk tank, what if the crafting level was like 50 while the subclass was like 11. I would say they're more craft oriented.

Yeah, I think I'll accept crafting classes too. : ) But probably certain crafting classes that focus on herbs/medicine/baking ~

You might want to consider adding Scribe to your list as well... maybe alchemist (though as a scribe i can say for certainty that it is definitely a support subclass lol)

Yup, I was thinking Alchemist, Pharmacist, Chef, and maybe Artisan?? I must admit that Scribe was not the first one I thought of but I can totally see it being a support class so I'm definitely going to add that to the list, thanks. c:

I would say any crafting classes that can make items that give buffs, like food or potions. I haven't read up on all of the crafting recipe lists yet, so I don't know which ones you'd want.

Kitty, for one, LOVES this idea!
As long as there are sleepovers and cuddle parties!
I love that fact that it will be non profit/ charity work because, well, aside from very few missions involving cash/ item bonuses, Kitty is all about that! I look forward to being in Ephemeral Solace! Love that name too XD
I'm also creating a new character which will also more than likely be a support player as well as that is mah thing~, so I'll keep you updated of her status as well.

Yay for Kitty! Yay for new characters! Yays everywhere! :D We now have officially four interested members (not icluding me) which is more than required to form a guild. So I'll go do that uhm. Tomorrow. Because this midterm needs some attention... ;A; I'll try and have an official guild thread with a general layout made by this weekend, and slowly fill it with... stuff. We have pretty much figured out admittance requirements, I would like to further expand and articulate the goals of the guild, possible divisions (I was thinking a frontline vs behind the scenes type of thing, where we have those who focus a bit more on doing quests and raids, and others who do crafting and research, but both groups working to bring more support stuff to Elder Tale) and in character and out of character events :D
So, general to-do list - Establish guild (will do this tonight or tomorrow) - Have general layout laying out members and overall goals, some pretty graphics etc in our official guild thread (by the end of the weekend) - Articulate goals, discuss division within the guild (yay or nay?), future events (ongoing, starting as soon as we get our own subforum)

While I do agree that there are a lot of guilds for the smaller community we have that is interested in Guilds, I don't think it's a good idea to ever, ever tell anyone they are wasting their time by trying something new or suggesting a new idea. It is never a waste of time to want to try and bring activity and ideas to the forum, ever. Even if it's a silly idea in the end, the effort is worth so much for the health of the forum. Don't be discouraged, Harmonie. Please, everyone, try and remember to be kind and constructive with your thoughts. I, for one, like the idea. I do agree there may be some issues with the AP thing but, if the idea took off perhaps additional suggestions can be made for solutions. I believe a guild may have an alliance with as many other guilds as it likes, provided the gold and other requirements are fulfilled and, last I checked, there was an AP bonus specifically for Alliance threads. A new type of bonus could also be suggested for "Guild Cooperation" or something of the like (would need reviewed and approved, of course). I say if there are enough members to get this off the ground, give it a shot! I agree with this. Let's support new ideas and excited people! To me a support guild makes sense both IC and OOC to me :3 IC people like to work together towards a goal so there is that reason, and knowing that you go to "that guild" when you need a healer would be good, much like in the anime you know if you need to buy technology you go to the Radio Shack guild or Marine 8 etc. Out of Character, having a themed guild works. Neither of the current active guilds have clear goals, and from what I've seen neither are also active as guilds, just active as players. A more thematic guild may encourage more guild related activity ^_^ I personally like the idea of the guild just being the guild - no "crafters only" part or "warriors only" part ... just a general sense that you have joined this guild to support the world; be that supporting them through your choice of class (cleric), choice of build (debuff swashbuckler), your choice of subclass (apothecary) or personality (many donations, happy to mentor). That's just my two cents =) It seems like a pleasant, friendly guild to be part of. Not a good guild for my current character, but I love the idea all the same.

Thanks for your input Sark! I really appreciate it and I'm sure everyone would agree with me when I say that we would love to have you along for adventures even if you can't be part of our guild. ^^ On another note, I know I said I wanted to get the guild officially formed yesterday, but I had an exam to study for. It will most likely be formed today so look forward to that! :D

Haha, I think it's up to the adventures themselves to pick where they want to go. x3 I'm glad to see so many supports interested though, and I'm sure that together we will become a very successful guild! ^^

To be fair, the other guilds had plenty of time to gather supports. Now the supports have gone the full Dwarf way. (Preforms a throbbing electronic gietar solo Charge per heal! A NEW REVELATION IN THE LOG HORIZON SAGA!

Also, I read your little riff like a title for an anime episode. You know like how in Soul Eater for example the title is always two lines? Like the first is just a few words and then the second line is slight more detail.
