Kain didn't really know what to think about his recent decision to join a guild. He had never really been super active in any before in his life, and didn't really do much with them. He always seemed to just lurk throughout them, taking a little bit of the experience bonuses as he soloed through his game. But this time it felt different somehow. He felt a part of something, and the guild hall was certainly something. It had an incredible sense of scale, and was deffinitely a beautiful piece of architecture. He wandered about the hallways for a while before finding a nice secluded corner. There was a beautiful stain-glass window with a large windowsill, just large enough to sit on comfortably. He got up on it, slouching in the warm embrace of the colored sunlight that leaked through the panes. He let his eyes drift over the scene through the window, all of the people running around having a good time. It was a beautiful day, but he wanted nothing more to relax on such a fine day, especially after some of his more recent adventures. He pulled over a small table and set down a warm cup of tea that he had gotten earlier on it, before settling back into his spot. He pulled out a book he had recently gotten from the library, and proceeded to let his eyes run along the page, and his mind wander within the world that existed upon the pages of the tome. Westminster Abbey, it used to be one of the most important structures in all of London, now it was merely one of the many guild halls. Still, the gothic style and its typical look had been preserved rather well by the game or its creators. There was a certain irony at work as well. In this world the Abbey was still very important as it held the Cathedral, the respawn point for those whom had died; it was however, not part of the guild system and as such remained neutral. [break][break] The warden had heard about his friend Dumah purchasing the Abbey and was curious on how it looked. In the earlier days he himself and Saskia had been thinking on their guild hall, yet they had rather quickly agreed upon the Royal Naval Academy. Entering the hall with his regular stride the sound of his boots hitting the floor resounded from the walls. The light gently fell into the Abbey through its high, gothic stained glass windows. The window directly above the door was large and circular, leading the warden to believe that it had been impossible to create this without at least several failures, mistakes and possibly even deaths. [break][break] ‘And now to see what things have been hidden away and as such we have been missing out on.’ The warden thought, grinning in his mind palace. After quite a while of scouring the warden found someone reading a book with a nice cup of tea, the warm aroma filling the rather secluded corner. [break][break] In a cold, soft manner the warden coughed a bit, whispering a: “Good morrow.” To whoever was sitting in the corner. The warden presumed it would be one of Dumah’s guild members and as such there was little need to be all that curt or cold, though he did consider the fact that disturbing people for social chats whilst they were reading tended to be a bit rude. Whoever it was that approached sure had heavy footsteps. Not only that but such an antiquated term 'good morrow'. Kain knew that they were in a fantasy world, but someone who was still that deep into their Role Playing? He honestly didn't think any of them still existed at this point in the game. Anyhow, the stranger had caught the heretic in the midst of a sip of his tea. Turning his head, still in the process of drinking/swallowing the liquid, Kain regarded the stranger with a quick nod before realizing what stood before him now. The strange state of the armor, the glowing hum of the purity core powering the internal mechanisms, and a gruff, square jaw of a military man. A Warden to be exact. Not only was this a warden that now stood before him, but the interface revealed him to be twice the heretic's own level. Kain and Noctis both began panicking within the recesses of Kain's mind, both hoping that they would make it by undetected. Not that either believed it. As much as the wall of a man before them embodied the physical resemblance of a Warden, they themselves knew full well that their own body was as stereotypically Heretic as one could possibly get. And now they were facing the Warden face to face, little hope of the details of his form being hidden as they were when his back was to him. Nervously, he tried to slowly put down his tea on the table, slowly put his bookmark in his book, calmly closed it, and set it down on the table before calmly standing up. He attempted to throw on his best calm smile. He knew full well he hadn't done anything wrong. He had no reason to be nervous. But his track record with running into Wardens? It never turned out good for him. He did his best to address the Warden as peaceful, and law-abiding as he could. " What can I do ya for officer?" Tags: Bailin

Pulling up another chair the warden sat opposite to the heretic. The heretic appeared to be a little off balance with the surprise visit from the warden. Slowly the warden sat down in the chair he had just pulled up for himself, never taking his eye of the heretic opposite of him. “You and I are going to have a little chat.” Said the warden, slowly, coldly and grinning as if he had evil plans. “You could start by telling me who you are and what you do around here.” The warden said with a friendly face, attempting to sound all warm (and fuzzy) and friendly. In reality this would probably make the warden appear as if he somewhat forced himself to play nice with the heretic. [break][break] The heretic should, in its current state and levels pose little trouble to the warden, however, there were faint traces of deja vu running through his mind. Something vaguely brought the warden back to the miasma realms, that long time ago. They had gathered there with quite a force of Landers and adventurers, managed to find some kind of child that was hell bent upon entering the Miasma realm and then things turned rather grim. Landers started either disappearing, either wandering into the Miasma realm or just killing themselves. It was not a happy time, yet there was probably something of a good story in there, somewhere. However, now was not the time for melancholy, here they sat, heretic and warden, two sides of a coin, just having a chat; like two civilised men discussing several subjects [break][break]

The best way to describe the collective thoughts of the two minds were, quite simply, Oooohhhhhhhhhh ssshhhhhhiiiiiiitttttttttttt. The flop-sweating was definitely real. This warden, whether he was trying to be nice or not came off as majorly intimidating to the Heretic. He wasn't sure really what kind of 'talk' the warden wanted to have, but no matter what it was, Kain felt like he'd give off the wrong answer. The most he could do now would be to simply try and play it cool and answer the warden's questions. " What do I do?" he restated as he thought carefully about the answer. " Well, for the moment I just do a little exploring here and there, peruse old texts, search for forgotten lore, see what I can do without stirring up too much trouble..." His statement trailed off as it devolved into nervous laughter. He wasn't lying. In fact, he had been almost brutally honest. He hadn't gotten nearly as much done as he would have liked to think he had. He had planned on somepoint experimenting with his heretic powers and the corruption stuff to try and get a better understanding of it. But volunteers were so hard to come by, and he didn't have the gall to just create an unwilling suspect. Besides, the last time he held the full power of the miasma was back in that strange event what with the crab-man, and even then he didn't remember a whole lot from it. He got back to the subject at hand though, the Warden still leaning on his chair, seemingly eyeing Kain with some sort of malicious intent. He could only hope nothing bad came of this. He supposed he could always try and run, but he felt that it wouldn't end well for him, what with the respawn being only a little bit away if he did get killed. He figured his best option would be to attempt to get on the Warden's good side. " So, what about yourself? Such an imposing...well-built...impressive figure as yourself must know how to have a good time in this world?" Nailed it. Tags: Bailin

Sitting opposite of the heretic, it was not hard to notice, even with one eye, that the heretic was, at the least, not amused nor was he comfortable with the sudden confrontation. As if set in stone the warden listened to the heretic speak. The heretic told the warden that he was currently browsing the books, on the hunt for forgotten lore and old texts, without causing too much of a ruckus or so the heretic claimed. [break][break] The next remark managed to startle the warden for a bit, though his face remained cold and hard. His mind however went to near overdrive mode, rushing through nearly all possible scenarios and meanings behind the remark. ‘I have a girlfriend; I’m not into guys; I don’t know any dames of ill repute; is he saying I’m fat; did he just complement my beard?’ all ran through the warden’s mind as he remained silent, creating an uneasy silence between the two. Finally the warden spoke: “I do.” The moment Bailin uttered the response he immediately regretted his response, yet it was too late. Taken out of context his response would be very, very awkward to say the least. [break][break] “Have you ever caused harm to innocent bystanders through miasma?” Bailin said, coldly after a few moments. Mitsuru had been the guilds heretic and though heretics were prone to doing nasty things through miasma, if the wardens, or in this case Bailin, would be quick enough to restore the balance all things would be fine. However, if the heretics were left unchecked; miasma would run rampant and corrupt everything, creating a whole new series of problems. Though this heretic was not part of Bailin’s guild, he was part of Dumah’s and Bailin appreciated Dumah too much to let him, or his guild, be corrupted from within, just because there was a heretic in it who thought he could do as he pleased. This conversation had begun to feel not only like it wasn't going anywhere, but that Kain was also one good cop short of a full-on interrogation. The stoic nature of the warden in front of him just constantly kept the pressure on him, making him feel like every word was being judged by the most scrutinizing of critics. The Warden reacted to nothing, said very little, and led onto what he was thinking even less. Even Kain's attempt at trying to ease the situation came back with the most unmoving, unyielding answer possible. He was not enjoying this little "conversation" at all. He was definitely unsure of what to do. He didn't know what to expect normally with Wardens, but this felt even worse. The question about causing harm to others caught Kain a little off guard. He hadn't tried to hurt anyone deliberately with miasma, minus one giant crab man. That being said, most corruption that he spread to others was either by accident or a little bit of overspill from his skills. It was never harmful, rarely reaching even stage 1 exposure, but he didn't know the right way to explain that to the Warden. He felt that any bit of miasma corruption done to others, whether on purpose or not, as evil incarnate. He would definitely have to handle it as calmly as he could. "Hurt anybody, no," he calmly replied, trying to give a small chuckle to alleviate some of the tension he felt. "But a little ambient corruption every now and again never hurt anybody."

Calm, cold and unmoving the warden sat, listening to the heretic as their game of chess progressed, ever so tedious. If someone were to take a blunt knife and tried to slice of a piece of the tension, one could probably feed a rather large army with that particular slice. In response to the warden’s question the heretic confirmed, or rather, denied that he had hurt anybody through the means of miasma, yet that corrupted and foul plague was the essence of the heretic class and it made the warden rather sceptical, especially as the heretic was level twenty. He had had to have gotten his experience from somewhere. Letting out a little chuckle the heretic attempted to joke how a little bit of miasma never hurt anybody; yet how little he knew from the expedition, where the seasoned veteran Landers would rather kill themselves than remain any longer within the safe zone. [break][break] “And a little purity never made someone lose their sanity.” The warden retorted curtly. “Perhaps you would be so kind as to explain how you have achieved to reach your current level?” the warden asked, nicely, yet his cold and stern voice would leave little room for interpretation, the request being more of an… instruction. “I doubt you managed to achieve your level by merely using your basic attacks” he continued, scepticism and irony flowing royally through his tone as he stated something he thought obvious. For the warden there was little harm in using miasma based attacks on creatures that would otherwise harm others, on the presumption one would actually kill said creatures. This point of view on the matter was, however, not yet worth mentioning to the heretic, not yet anyway. [break][break]

Kain had absolutely no idea what the warden was on about, but he didn't like it. What did basic attacks have to do with anything? I mean, the majority of his attacks that he actually used was mainly shackles of the sentenced and miasma bullet. Other than a few adventures soaking up experience... " Mainly it came from a rather intense experience I had with a crab monster lately. Other than that, I pretty much am just control and artillery in a few dunHgeons. just kinda, snare that guy, blast another with miasma bullet and repeat ad infinitum until the dungeon ends really..." He didn't know if it was the right answer or the wrong answer. The warden was as unmoving and unreadable as ever. Kain was sweating, and in the back of his mind he could feel Noctis panicking. Whatdowedowhatdowedo
you can start by shutting up you aren't helping the situation
maybe if you threw up Night Shade, and shackles of the sentenced, and ran off in the confusion
That's a terrible idea, he's a higher level than us
Alright, you die, we respawn, its not like its not an option
The respawn is right over there smart one
Well, maybe we can be faster than him! we are wearing cloth armor and he is wearing bulkier stuff
I don't think encumbrance is a thing Noctis, it doesn't work that way for us
Well we have to do something! He's just waiting for an excuse to off us, and then he'll haul us off to jail, and then we'll probably run into HER again
Well, lets just wait it out. He wont just arrest us for nothingKain just sat there, blank eyes, trying his best to just try and defuse the situation. raising his hand with a slight wave, he decided it was best to assure the officer of his innocence. " I'm an adventurer, its not like I just go around getting experience from tourturing random people, I wouldn't get any XP from that!" Tags: Bailin

Silently the warden sat, watching as the heretic explained himself and how he had received his experience. It was like pretty much the same as how everyone else had gotten theirs: just heading into a dungeon and clearing it. There was little harm in that, nor was there any harm to others when one were to kill a crab monster, yet the heretic seemed rather nervous; perhaps even too nervous, as if he was hiding something. [break][break] “I see.” The warden stated, slowly scratching his chin as if he were thinking. ‘I’ve heard that kind of remark before… I think. I don’t think he’s lying, but perhaps I should… persuade him a bit, as an adventurer his kneecaps would heal rather quickly, but so far he has been working with me, and Dumah would kill me if I did…’ the warden thought. What the heretic had said made sense, torturing Landers or Adventurers did not earn anyone experience, unless one turned the tortured soul into a summoned creature, which was rather a waste of the summoners skill in the wardens opinion. [break][break] Staring coldy into the eyes of the heretic the warden leaned a small bit forward, intertwining his fingers together and coldly whispered: “Are you certain you are not forgetting something? It would be such a shame if you forgot something and I found out about it later.” Slowly moving his hands in front of his face; his elbows leaning gently on his knees; the knuckles of his middle fingers just below his nose, his hands hiding his mouth, his eye glinting with an inquisitive sheen, patiently waiting for the heretic to respond to his very poorly veiled threat. Kain didn't like where this was going. He tried his best to force a smile, but he didn't know how well it was coming across. The warden was definitely intimidating, and that threat.... "The only time I've ever gone deep into corruption was fighting a crab monster. The crab was the only one hurt. I kept as much miasma to myself as I could. Except for that and a few proposed inter-class experiments, I haven't messed a whole lot with the miasma, I swear." He kept his hands up by the sides of his face where the warden could see them. He didn't know what the warden wanted, but he definitely seemed to be trying to hunt someone- or something -down. Whatever this interrogation was trying to get out of him, it simply did not seem to be going well. He supposed he could try his best to run, now would probably be the best time that he could. Noctis sat in the back of his mind planning things out. Okay, so, all you have to do is throw up [Night Shade] to disorient him, then just toss on [Shackles of the Sentenced] to make him stay there. Then, we just gotta book it down the street and try to loose him.Brilliant deduction Holmes, Kain thought. He just sat there, the warden staring him down. He knew if things came down to it, he might have to make a break for it, He just really didn't want to make any enemies. Tags: Bailin

“I see.” Spoke the warden, letting through a shimmer of warmth that would probably be barely noticeable by anyone who did not know him that well, as he sat back up again, though this time he seemed more… relaxed. “So, what did you do before all went bananas?” he asked, a small hint of thaw in his voice audible. If the heretic spoke the truth there were no problems as far as the warden was concerned, at Vylbrand they too had a heretic within their ranks, a mighty fine tailor. In truth, if a heretic was only using his skills, and corruption, to fight battles and gain experience, there were little problems as far as Bailin was concerned. The troubles would start when heretics tried to carve out a piece of miasma filled land outside of the Miasma Realms. It was bad enough the Realms existed, something that might have to change in the near future, though for now all that mattered was keeping the foul corruption at bay. [break][break] “Pray tell me, how did you end up in Noihara?” the warden asked politely after a short pause. Dumah was a kind soul, probably even kinder than Klide or perhaps where Klide managed to, unwilling and or unwittingly, create some form of female harem around himself; Dumah had managed to create the male variant. On the other hand Dumah was a courtesan, so perhaps folks were smitten by his subclass. Though in all regards it would be quite the tale of how the heretic ended up with this guild. [break][break]

As the awkward conversation went on between the Warden and the Heretic - hey, don't you think that almost sounds like some kind of fairy tale title? 'The Warden and The Heretic,' by Wilhelm Grimm. Ooo~ I can totally see that being a fairy tale! A sweet, young Heretic on her way to Cthulhu's house, when suddenly... BAM!! Out pops a huge Warden that eats Little Red Heretic Hood! Then he sees all the Miasma Cookies in her basket. 'I hate Miasma Cookies!!' the Warden says. So he takes the basket and takes the clothes from Little Red Heretic Hood's disheveled corpse and uses them to disguise himself! They're way too small for him and he looks hideous wearing her clothes, but he doesn't care because he's totally gay! All Wardens are! I think... I hope! Though I hope just so I can be right... Anyways! So then the Big Bad Warden huffs and he puffs and- uh... no wait, that's a different story... Dammit, what was going to happen next in my story?! Was this the one with the ruby slipper?! Something about a golden street or whatever?! I can't believe I just forgot all I was going to say!! Wait, what was I doing before I got distracted by that distracting distraction? Oh yeah! Where was I? The Narrator clears his throatAs the awkward conversation went on between the big meanie Warden and the poor, antagonized Heretic, footsteps - or is it foot steps? Wait wait wait, what if it's really foot's steps?! GAH!! I'm getting distracted again! Stupid Narrator, stupid! Stupid!! - footsteps, or foot steps, or maybe even foot's steps could be heard down the corridor accompanied by light conversation as two men walked down the hall. A young man was giving the guild's resident barkeep an ear full as he ranted on about some random topic - a random rant if you will, or shall we say a... rant-om... The young Enchanter put on a pair of sunglasses after my pun, walking like a badass as I shouted to myself 'YEEEAAAH!!' like some kind of scene out of a crime drama taking place in Miami. As the two came closer, their words could be heard more clearly. "And so I said to him 'hey, I really like your sound, and I think you should market your sound to deaf people,'" Lyssamanya started laughing softly in his words, swinging around his mug full of coffee lightly as he spoke. "-heheh, because-!" He then stopped as he saw the Warden. The guy looked so strong and sophisticated, so mature and respectable... ... ... What an ass. He was a Warden, so he had to be an ass! Lyssamanya dropped his cup, quickly dashing a few steps forward as it crashed to the ground and shattered. The Person of The Land had a horrified expression as one of his cups was destroyed, hitting the marble ground. The Enchanter held his right hand in his left hand, his index and middle fingers forward while the ring finger and pinkie were curled in the shape of a gun. "FREEZE!! VEGAN POLICE!!" The barkeep looked up completely perplexed and confused. "Vegan Police?!" The young Enchanter held his right 'gun' hand up as he spoke, "Todd Ingram!" His left hand left - heheh, puns... oh, right! YEEEAAAH!!!! - the right hand right - heheh, puns... you get the idea - as he threw the sunglasses off his face with a quick grasp and toss with his left hand. "You're under arrest for Veganity Violation Code Number 827: imbibing of half-and-half." He kept the gun pointed directly at the Warden - it seemed so much like a threat until he dashed ahead of himself, practically bumping into the Warden, facing where he just was with his hands up. "That's bullroar!" He then returned to his first position, aiming the gun again. "No vegan diet, NO VEGAN POWERS!!" With this he jumped back to position two. "B-But this is only my first offense, don't I get three strikes? I mean..." Once again, he dashed back to position one for a quick moment, speaking over his shoulder. "Take it!" He then dashed back and to the side, pantomiming an invisible hand-sized notebook. "12:47 on February 1st: You knowingly ingested gelato." The Enchanter quickly moved over to position two, seeming confused. "Gelato isn't vegan?" It was quite the sight to see this one man play, and he jumped back to position one. "It's milk and eggs, bitch." Moving to position three, he then continued to read off the notebook. "On April 4th, 7:30 pm, you partook of a plate of chicken Parmesan." Lyssamanya leapt to the side of the whole scene, gasping at the invisible actor in position two, then glaring at him. He moved back to position two, looking meek and feeble, gulping before saying nervously, "Chicken isn't vegan...?" The barkeep sighed, finding it sad that he was starting to get used to this kind of crap. Lyssamanya was not a member of Noihara, or at least not officially, but no matter how many times he was kicked out of the guildhall, he found a way back in. He was like a stray cat in some regards, and some considered him to be kind of the 'pet' of Noihara.

The rather sudden interruption of the two men's discussion came as a rather impressive surprise to the heretic. He didn't know what to think of the enchanter who was spouting out dialogue from an old movie without a care in the world. His mind went blank as far as where he was going with his conversation with the warden, the sudden interference derailing his train of thought. It was a moment exactly like this however, that Noctis needed to arrest control over their shared body. He didn't trust the warden and wanted no further part in whatever conversation the man had. His eyes changing from their primarily gold color to one of a darker purple, Noctis threw his arms up, casting Shackles of the Sentenced upon the warden, and a barrier of Night Shade between them before making a quick break for it.
"NOCTIS," Kain yelled from within the confines of their mind. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?"
"I'm not taking any chances with this guy! I know his type and I know for a fact he's more prone to knocking us out and imprisoning us than he is actually hearing us out!"
He rounded a corner within the cathedral, bolting up a round, vertical stairway, casting a few backwards glances to see if he was still being followed. Kain might have been willing to talk, but Noctis wanted out now.

A sudden noise, an interruption and all went batspit bananas with cream and cherry’s on top. A weird character had made a rather present appearance, making the warden shift his attention from the heretic, whom appeared to be rather harmless, to this strange, rude, character who might even be possessed by more miasma than a heretic on a field day. Either that or it was one heck of a strange fellow with a personality that would be considered worrisome by most. [break][break] The next thing the warden knew were dark shackles twisting around his legs, a dark mist spreading from them, locking him in place. Next all turned to black and white, a weird and odd predicament, especially as there was still a moving black and white shape rushing away from the warden. With a sigh the warden took out his Luger and aimed at the legs of the running heretic, creating a scene as if it was an ancient movie, in black and white. All that had to be changed was the ambience and add in the standardised laughter of the olden movies. [break][break] Gently squeezing the trigger whilst aiming at the heretic the warden unleashed a Disabling shot which would be lowering the movement speed of the heretic by 25%. The heretic could run and use the time the warden was stuck and bound to get away, but it wouldn’t allow the heretic to get too far. [break][break] The second action the warden decided to take was to drop a little present in front of the heretic, either blocking its way or providing healing for the warden if these shackles proved to damage as well as bind. So, with a flick of his wrist the warden created a small sphere of light right in front of the heretic. If this world was black and white for the heretic as well, all that would happen was the appearance of a rather lighter area right in front of him and hurt like crazy for the mine, or rather the Pawn, was a purity based skill which would double the damage to miasma based creatures, such as the heretic. The crippling shot hurt, like, ACTUALLY HURT. Noctis could feel it in their leg as soon as it connected, falling over clutching it. It felt like a bear trap had suddenly closed around his shin. Then came the sudden burst of light in front of him. It pissed him off for some reason, and he shielded his eyes as he began hissing at it. Meanwhile inside their head, Kain just sighed. He felt stupid for letting himself loose control and let Noctis take hold. Now he'd have a lot of explaining to do to the warden. Note: consider Noctis incapacitated at the moment tags Bailin
