Since the day Isa had been somehow teleported and trapped in the world of Elder Tale, a game she had just started playing about a week before the big update, she had kept quiet and just wandered around the capital city. Isa hadn’t set a single step onto the fields where mobs spawned, and also hadn’t hit anything with the starter’s spear she was wielding, not even a training dummy. She had pretty much avoided doing anything but exploring Londinium and sleeping, for just one reason.
She was scared.
Isa was sure there were more people just like her, who didn’t really want to get involved with anything that could possibly kill them, but the only person she had really talked to so far was the friend who had gotten her into the game, Haru. He didn’t seem to be very scared of fighting, it even looked like he actually wanted to, but for some reason he stayed with Isa most of the time instead of just going his own way.
The girl let out a small sigh as she leaned back against the back of the wooden bench she was sitting on. The streets of Londinium were beautiful, and the overflow of plants made it even prettier. She loved just looking around, but this had been about the 8th time she had sat here and just stared at the streets and people who walked past, so it was getting kind of boring.
To the left from Isa was a small but popular weapon stand which seemed to be owned by an adventurer. There were quite a lot of people standing in front of the stand, waiting for their turn to buy something. The crowd made Isa kind of interested in the weapons that were being sold at the stand, they were most likely good quality items. Too bad she didn’t actually have any money, and she doubted that she could get one for free..
On the right side of her there was nothing but a small group of tired adventurers, sitting on the cold ground. All of them had gotten rid of their starting gear and were wearing somewhat cool outfits. Their weapons weren’t that spectacular except for one guy who had a staff with a smiling pumpkin head on it, which was kind of adorable.
Anyway, Isa soon got bored and got up from the bench, picking up her spear which she had put down on the ground when she sat down. She then looked over at Haru. “I’m bored so I think I’m going to take a walk. You can come with me if you want.” She said, putting the spear on her back and stretching her arms above her head. Taking a walk was also not that entertaining after doing it so many times in the same place, but it was at least a little better than just waiting for something fun to happen. Isa hoped Haru would come with her because that’d make it a little less boring.
being so incredibly bored was annoying, and it really made her want to get over her fear for dying in a world where you just respawn. It just felt so unnatural to be able to just come back alive, and Isa really didn’t want to experience how it felt.
However, she was kind of done with not doing anything fun all day. She was in a game, wasn’t that a dream for some? It was just so stupid that she couldn’t even go out of the safe zone without being scared, just because she could possibly die. But if she had Haru with her, she would probably not even have to fear for a life. Besides, she had the ability to bind a monster in case of emergency. As usual she was just making herself panic, even though that wasn’t even needed.
With a small hop she turned around and started walking at a slow pace, right past the weapon stand.

Haru was mad, and worried, and confused, and sad. The amount of emotions and thoughts floating around I his head was rather large. Not that you could tell by looking at him. His dark clothes and serious expression would never hint to him being bombarded by so much.
He was mad that he got his friend; someone he would never want to be hurt was now stuck in a game where death was a constant occurrence. And even though he knew that death didn't mean death that you could be brought back, no one wanted to experience death and I can't imagine how it feels. He was worried that the game would ruin what he had built with this girl.
He opened his eyes as he laying down, and looked over to Isa, seeing that she was looking around.
She looked like she was in peace but he knew, she wasn't and that was why he worried, although he’d be more worried if she was perfectly fine so it was bound to be bad either way. But this was a person he never would dare try to hurt in anyway, and now he had gotten her stuck in a game. Unlike him she had something to return too, a family and friends and he couldn't imagine that pain.
He was confused, mostly about why and how. Why did this happen and how did it happen, this was not some story people didn't just get stuck in a videogame and when they did in the stories they at least had a goal and a reason. So far there was neither, not a way to escape and no reason as to why it happened. As far as Haru was concerned there was no reason to launch a game capturing so many, especially when the series had been doing so well. Too throw it all away; there must have been a good reason. But no matter how hard he thought he couldn't find that reason.
And sad, because like worry and mad, he was sad he got Isa stuck, and the sadness just came from the overwhelming of all his other current emotion being expressing in his head. But he needed to stop thinking so negatively, he wasn’t the happiest guy in the world of course but he couldn’t afford to be so down, not that he was showing it anyway. But it would affect how he acted even if in a minor way and as of now, he needed to be strong for Isa more than himself. He opened his eyes again looking at Isa following her gaze. He could tell that she had noticed the other people, the ones sitting around with decent looking attire; they weren’t anything special from what he had heard the higher levels on the Japanese servers had. But it was still better looking than his gear.
“I’m bored so I think I’m going to take a walk. You can come with me if you want.” He heard, it came from Isa, no one else would have talked to him like that and he knew the voice. It was amazing that that’s what she would do to cure her boredom considering how often they had been doing that. He was considering asking her again if she would train with him, level up a least a little. He knew she wouldn’t be in danger so long as she listened to him, he had a simple and what he thought effective plan. And he didn’t see a flaw in using it against low level easy monsters. But he respected her decision and right now he didn’t want to bother her with the question again. It just sucked he couldn’t train, because no way was he leaving her side to go train on his own, there’s no telling what could happen to her while he was gone.
He saw Isa turn and begin to walk and got up to follow, he didn’t say anything, but stood up, and followed her, there was no need to be an exchange of words, she knew he would follow as he always did. It wasn’t until after he had walked a distance that he spoke “Is (his nickname for isa), what are your plans. I know you well enough by now too know that your growing old of walking and watching, you have to do something else, even if it’s as simple as opening a shop.” He paused again wondering what to continue with. “You know my thoughts, we need to get stronger, but at the minimum we need to do something worthwhile, we aren’t even making money right now, and I’m starving.”
It was true, they hadn’t ate for sometimes considering they had no money, and they needed to do something to make money, and his only knowledge of how to do so was to either make a shop and craft and sell or to go out, hunt and kill monsters for items to sell and gold. And as far as he knew the only way to make items was to craft them through materials which you either had to buy or get yourself from monsters. So right now the only real option was to fight, he just needed Is to understand that, and conquer her fear. But going into battle with the fear of death was no something that could be done so easily for a person who wasn’t used to it.
“You know I care for you Is” He continues “And I know your scared. But you also should know that I would never let anything happen to you no matter what.” He said looking straight with his normal blank face, at this point he had been right next to matching her stride perfectly. In reality though he was pleading, whether she knew or not, he was begging that she go with him, if not even too fight but to be near so he knew she would be safe. But he would respect her choice no matter what.

As expected, the walk was already getting boring. There was nothing new to look at, every building they walked past had already been investigated by Isa, the only new things around were people, but they were far from interesting enough. Isa was in desperate need of entertainment, so as a little child she started to try and walk in sync with Haru, which went pretty well. She did stop after a minute or so because it was too boring.
Isa was about to turn around again, and just walk back to the wooden bench, but Haru then started talking out of nowhere. He stated that she had to do something useful, which was true but still ticked her off slightly because Haru sounded exactly like her father right now, who constantly gave her speeches about getting a job and getting better grades.
“I know, I know. But how in the world would I be able to open a shop. I’d scare my customers away in less than a minute.” she chuckled, looking up at Haru. Isa really couldn’t see herself maintaining a shop. She liked working with people and all that, but she had picked artisan as subclass and really had no clue how to make anything. The only thing she was good at art related was drawing, but she doubted she could sell her drawings..
“Okay.. What about we go out to the fields.. tomorrow? I’ve had enough time to prepare myself and I’ll just stay in the back to heal you, so I won’t be in much danger. Don’t expect me to use this though” She took the starting spear off her back and pointed it at Haru before putting it on her back again. Isa had mixed feelings about this. She was excited about finally going to do something else than wander around the town, but she was still scared that she and Haru could perhaps be ambushed by players or mobs, which would probably be a garanteed death. Of course there were many more ways they could die outside of the safe zone, even if they were careful. But Isa didn’t want to think about it anymore, as it would only make her panic more. Isa smiled and looked away as Haru said he cared about her, just like a dad really. It was funny, but also really sweet and Isa appreciated it. But instead of saying thanks, she had a different idea.
With a confident grin on her face she stopped walking, elegantly putting her left hands on her hips. “Of course you care about me, because i’m..” she twirled twice, raising her right arm into the air in the second twirl and saying “showtime!” in the process. Isa then stopped, made two piece signs with her hands, and held them infront of her eyes when the spotlight shone onto her, “Fabulous!” she said in a very confident tone. This was probably the best pose she had ever done, and it was all just to try and annoy Haru. She was such a good friend.
After about 5 seconds of posing she stepped out of the spotlight and laughed at her own action, how pathetic. “Just kidding~ Thank you for caring about me.” she said, smiling widely at her friend. She hoped he didn’t mind her little act, it could be seen as her mocking him being kind. She hadn’t really thought about it like that before. It made her feel a little bad, but Haru knew she appreciated his kindness so it was probably okay.
“Anyway, I’ll do my best to support you if we go out there, but if a mob comes at me I will run for my life so it would be handy if they aggro you.” She looked up at Haru, wondering what he was thinking right now. After a bit Isa looked back at her feet, she kne she wasn’t going to be very useful in battle. She only knew how to cast showtime without opening the panel, but she hadn’t used her other spells even once, making her unable to try casting them without manually clicking on the spell in the panel. That meant she would need quite a bit of time to cast one spell, so she’d be slow and wouldn’t be abe to react in time if something bad happened. She also was most likely gonna be really scared and panicky when they were going to fight for real, making her even less useful. “Sorry for being such a scaredy cat, you know you’re free to go and train whenever you want though? I’ll just stay here and wait for you, that really isn’t a problem.” Isa mumbled, still looking down at her feet. She meant her words, and he was free to go wherever he wanted to go. Though of course she wouldn’t like it, she couldn’t keep him in town just because she was too scared to go out.

What a nut, was Haru’s first reaction to her spotlight thing and it was rather embarrassing but he let it go, after all she was one of the few people who understood him while not ticking him off at every waking moment. As she said she was joking and thanked him in a newer tone, he smiled, it was very slight, enough that anyone who didn’t know him well would have thought it was just a twitch but it was a smile. He was also blushing, which for him just meant looking straight and being quiet not actually blushing. He was happy that she knew he cared, and hoped she would trust him more because of it, but itd be hard to her in her situation, after all it was his fault they were stuck in the first place.
As She began to go on about being scared again he listened as always, it was what he expected, and that was her class in the first place, she was meant to be a support and not be in any danger, but she was newer to mmo’s so it was right for her to be somewhat worried and unknowledgeable.
“Well you know your class, at least and if you read the description it should have said something about being a support for a reason y’know. And supports tend to do that and not get hit” He said being a smart ass as usual. “But in essence all you need to do is make sure u can heal me and stay a little bit away. Immobilizing them could help too. Easy right” He said being more serious and trying to tell her a game plan. “As for your sharp little spear….ouch by the way, you won’t need to worry, I’ll kill anything before it reaches you.”
She had also mentioned that he could train whenever he really wanted to, and that she wouldn’t mind. And he figured she would say that, or at least think it but she wasn’t holding him back he was holding himself back for her. He worried a little too much it seemed, and didn’t want her to be alone at all, for the fear that something may happen and he’d lose her. “And you know I couldn’t leave you alone, I know your no incapable of being on your own, but like you said, neither of us are quite ready to be on our own yet”
He hoped that she would understand and not get mad, after all he did include himself in the statement not to make it seem like he was downplaying her. But he couldn’t decide if it was true, to him it would probably be easier to keep himself safe solo than both of them safe, especially if they needed to escape. But such a thing would never keep him away from Isa.
“Well, you said tomorrow, and it’s not too late. I’m starving though so we should go find a place to get something to eat before I start hallucinating. We can go wherever you want, after all you are fabulous and all and I’m just lucky to be in your mere presence” I finish in a mocking tone.
he wondered what they would do afterwards, it wouldn’t take the rest of the day to eat a meal, but they needed to occupy their time and he wondered what all was available to be done, he wanted to cheer her up somehow, find something to do like a game or watch something cool. But he just didn’t know what to do.

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ Seeing Haru smile even the slightest was a somewhat rare appearance, so it kind of told Isa that her awesome action hadn’t been taken too seriously, and that it hadn’t made him mad.
Isa sighed as Haru started talking about her not getting hit, because she was a support and thus usually was in a safe place. But little did he know that Isa’s actual goal was to eventually also be able to fight in close range when her heals weren’t needed. She had picked a spear as her starting weapon for a reason. Sadly, she hadn’t really thought everything through and sort of forgot that one could actually die, and being able to respawn didn’t make her lose her fear.
“I read my class description. I’m not that stupid.” She mumbled, looking up at Haru. “I know that supports usually stay away from danger, but a mob could still target me.” It was clear that Isa was scared of being attacked. For her it did help that there was someone else around who had picked a damage dealing class, but that didn’t mean there was no chance a mob could come after her. Oh well, panicking about it wouldn’t get her anywhere. She just had to get over it, somehow.
“Right, super easy. I could also set them on fire but.. I don’t think they’d like that.” Isa laughed in an awkward tone. Setting a mob on fire wouldn’t only be cruel but also would make the chance of getting attacked much bigger. She didn’t really know why she picked the flame burst ability really, it was a rushed choice.
She lost count of the times that Haru had told her no mob would touch her since they got stuck in the game, but it didn’t really make her any more confident about fighting. It was nice to hear though, and made her feel a little better.
Haru then said that both of them weren’t ready of being completely alone yet, to which she responded with “Yeah, I know”. It was true, at least for herself. She would’ve probably been in a much worse condition if she hadn’t gotten stuck with at least one person she knew. Being alone wasn’t something she was good at, she just liked being around others, unless those people were boring. However, she did think that Haru would manage on his own. He wasn’t scared like her, he was a pretty serious guy, and actually thought about things before actually doing something, unlike Isa. She was a really messy and no-so ordered person who just jumped straight into things without thinking about things. Though because she wasted days on strategy games she now usually would take a little bit of time to think stuff through, if she didn’t forget about it.
Just like Haru, Isa was also quite hungry so she was perfectly fine with looking for a place to get some food. She giggled as he said she was fabulous, which was so true. Too bad that she was a little too lazy to activate the showdown ability, otherwise she would’ve posed again. “Though it is true that you should feel honoured that you are able to be with me, I have no place I would personally like to go. So it’s your job to find a good place where we can eat.” Of course she was joking about him having to feel honoured about being with her. She really didn’t have a place that she would love to go to in particular though, so she just let Haru choose where they’d go.

As Haru heard Isa say that he could choose where the wait he almost cries, not literally of course but you get the point. He did however do a face palm, keep his hand there and pulling it away only enough so that she could hear him “Your joking right” Covering his face back up completed he sighed knowing she wasn’t, there was no reason to be after all, and so he let his hand fall down his face and land at his side. Looking back at her in a blank stare he looked away again and began to walk, he didn’t know where to exactly but he needed to start looking in the least so that they could eat and get on with their day. After walking for a while, he could tell some time had passed, the sky had gotten a little darker and he thought that maybe after all he wouldn’t need to find something to occupy their time after all considering that he now had spent at least an hour, most likely two on simply trying to find a good place to eat. And this was why he didn’t want to choose the place, and it was nothing new.
Ever since Haru had been a kid he was always picky on what he ate and where from, he would never eat out it the place wasn’t looking up to his standards, and even though this was a game he still kept those standards. And at the moment there had not been many places to choose from, a simple stand here or there and maybe a decent looking building every once in a while. But decent was never good enough for Haru no matter what it was he was doing.
“This is why you should have picked, none of these places have anything to even advertise good quality” He said looking back at Isa. He turned back around as the turned a corner only to finally see something he had pleasure in looking at. The build was a cream color, with white trim and beautiful glass doors, it had a few nice trees in the front in the soil that was on each side of the walkway into the doors. Inside through the windows you could see the soft glow of a few lights that had been hanging out of his eye sight, the majority of tables being red booths for four all connected to the outer walls with a couple of bigger tables in between. Overall it was a decent shop, and he even saw a man waiting at the door who seemed to have been a door man.
“Finally something lets go” He walked over to the door and the man in the tuxedo opened the door as he had expected as well as the other set of doors. As haru walked in, the warmth was amazing and it felt more comfortable than anything else he had experienced in the game thus far. “Hello sir is it just you two” I hear a voice and see a man behind a small counter I had not noticed before. He was in a tuxedo like the last man but wore a bigger smile than the previous one. “Yes sir”
“Right this way then” the man continued, and haru followed. He was happy that he had finally found something of substance in this world, and it made feel a bit more energized to adventure around, after all if this place existed than there had to be more like it, and not just places to eat but sights, dungeons, who knew. He just hoped Isa was excited like he was.

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ When Haru facepalmed, Isa turned her head slightly out of confusion. “what is it?” She didn’t really understand what she did. Or was this just some sort of joke to get revenge on her for some reason? It confused her even more when Haru asked if she was joking. She took a few seconds to realize what she should be joking about, and she asumed that he meant not knowing where to go. “No i’m not joking. Why?” She asked him, but never got a reply, unless him staring at her was his reply. Haru then started walking away and she quickly followed him. She didn’t know what to talk about so instead just kept her mouth shut and looked around, waiting for Haru to pick a place to eat. It took over an hour
it took probably more than 90 minutes for the king of pickiness to look around without saying a word. And the most amazing part was, that they had still not found a place. Honestly, Isa wasn’t sure what was worse at the moment. The fact that her legs felt like they were about to break, or the fact that she had to look at places where they could eat and see people having a great time inside some of them. She had also gotten incredibly bored, so bored that she had somehow started thinking about idiotic things like “Could you flush a cake down the toilet.” and “If chickens were carnivores, where would they live.” She felt like she was going crazy throughout the horrid walk.
And how funny. According to Haru, who Isa wanted to kill right now, not one of these places seemed to be of good quality. Though there were some horrible looking ones, they had walked past more than enough places who looked amazing. “There were a lot of great places, Mister Picky. One of them even had a cake standing outside of it, I felt like it was staring at me and yelling at me to come and eat it.” Isa spontaniously started to drool just thinking about eating a cake. She was so damn hungry. Then, FINALLY Haru had found a place he wanted to go. But it was one of the most expensive places she had ever seen. Where they seriously going to eat there? Honestly, Isa didn’t even care anymore. All she wanted was food. She was definitely not going to pay though, that was Haru’s punishment for killing her legs. Isa followed Haru to the door, already worrying about several things. She wasn’t dressed up for a place like this at all and wasn’t sure if Haru even had enough money to buy a meal here. It seemed like he had forgotten they actually had to pay for things.
As they entered the restaurant or whatever it was, Isa kept her mouth shut and stayed close to Haru as they were brought to a table for two, close by a window. The table looked amazing, and very expensive. Isa sat down, thanking the man who brought them to the table with a small smile and a nod. She looked around for a bit, admiring how beautiful everything was. “You’re paying and ordering for me.” Isa said in quite a serious tone. She was trying to be serious and angry, but she couldn’t even keep up it up for more than 10 seconds. A smile suddenly appeared on her face again and she giggled. “This place is soooo awesome, I love it.” she said, looking at Haru. Her surroundings made her even more hungry than she already was.

As Isa said that he once again had to choose something for her, he almost died. Paying for her was one thing but he had no idea what to choose for her, clearly she wanted cake considering se drooled at the mere thought but that was hardly a meal. In any case, he would figure it out, the nice man set down the menus in which Haru picked up and began exploring, it was a large menu which excited him, so much to choose from and it gave him options which he loved in any situation. He looked at the sections, appetizers, skipped that and went to the entrees. His eyes immediately fell to the seafood section which had always been his favorite type of food. Seafood had its own page like the other food groups but had many sub-sections that he was looking through such as shrimp, or pasta, and more. Among the sections he saw something that interested him, it was a lobster taco, it sounded weird but he decided why the hell not, after all he was stuck in a game might as well experiment. But that was only the easy part. Haru looked back through the menu trying to find something that sounded interesting enough for Isa to eat, especially because he didn’t know what she wanted. She could want sushi and he’d get her a steak, who knew, He looked for another quick second before the waitress showed up.
“Hello, my name is Alexis and I will be your waitress tonight, what shall I get you to drink” Said the girl who showed up. It was rather weird she didn’t look to be much older than me or Isa, she had light long brown hair, and a smooth looking face and was average height and weight. She was too average but rather good looking, Haru only wished that she was real. Not that he would make a move of course but at least then he wouldn’t feel insanely weird about having the thought in the first place.
Haru hadn’t even thought about his drink, but he did wonder one thing, was there a drinking age. He might as well try “I will take your favorite wine here, two cups and in the bottle. I will also have a water along with that, and the miss as well” Now was the moment of truth, would she question him.
“Alright sir, do you want to place an order for an appetizer as well?” The waiter responded, Making Haru happy that we was able to order it, he only hoped Isa wouldn’t mind, if she was tired it’d help her I guess but he didn’t know her drinking habits.
“No ma’am but I would like to ask a question, My friend here has decided to make me order for both of us, so I wanted to ask what your favorite dishes were” Haru finished his question and the waiter paused, as if thinking over the order like a normal person, or maybe she was just processing it before responding. She listed some of her favorites and Haru listened. After a moment of thought he spoke again.
“Alright then I will place our order now, I would like the shrimp tacos two orders, add some spice if you could, As for the lady she will have the pesto chicken Florentine.” Haru places the order and watches the waitress scribble it down.
“Would that be all”
“Yes Ma’am”
“Okay I will put in the order and bring your drinks out in just a moment”
“Thank you” And with that she turned and walked away, and Haru looked back at Isa. “So miss,, did I do good?”

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ After thinking over the fabulous idea of letting Haru choose for her, it hadn’t been the best thing to do. If she ever talked about food, it would always be about cake, sweets, pie and other sweet and delicious things. She wasn’t really sure if she ever told Haru even once what her favourite food was, so he was most likely going to order something not-so delicious for her. A waitress, a pretty brown-haired girl, appeared in front of their table about 5 minutes or so after they sat down. Isa greeted her with a smile, and immediately looked over to Haru as she asked what they’d like to drink. Isa would be good with anything really, except for.. The thing that Haru had just ordered.
She never drank alcohol, not like she was even allowed to. No way in heck was she going to drink it now just because she was in a game where they maybe had different rules about drinking related matters. But Isa didn’t really care. She wasn’t going to drink and there was no way she could change her mind. Isa was going to drink the water though, nothing wrong with that.
For the rest of the order, Isa paid close attention to what Haru would order so if he chose something bad, she could at least jump in and order for herself instead. She wasn’t sure though if he was good at.. ordering for others or not, as this was the first time he was ordering for her.
Isa listened carefully to what the waiter recommended when Haru when he asked what her favourite dishes were. She called quite a few delicious sounding things and Isa was already getting a little excited. At this point, she didn’t care anymore about the money, that was Haru’s problem. Now it was time to order. Isa crossed her fingers underneath the table, hoping that he would do good.
And he did. He ordered flipping chicken for her, as if he could just read her mind. Honestly, Isa was baffled and didn’t really know if this was sheer luck, or if she did ever tell Haru that she liked chicken back in the past. It was actually quite possible she had just forgotten about telling him, as that did happen quite a lot. Anyway, she was proud of her servant.
When the waitress walked away, Isa glared at Haru. “How do you know I like chicken?” She asked immediately, she just had to know right now if she had ever told him or not. Because if she hadn’t, this guy seriously had some sort of mind reading power or something.
“You did good, but no way I’m going to drink wine.” Isa chuckled, it really wasn’t going to happen. --
After less than 5 minutes, the waitress showed up again. She was balancing a silver plate on her left hand’s finger tips. It had the two empty cups for the wine and two filled glasses of water on it. She was holding the bottle of wine in her right hand.
With a smile on her face, the waitress elegantly put everything on the table before opening the bottle of wine for them. “Your food will be brought to you in a bit.” the woman said, before turning around and walking away again.
Isa quickly grabbed one of the glasses of water and started glaring at the wine. It smelled pretty bad.

After they we were given their drinks, Haru wasn’t too bothered that she was going to drink, after all both were technically under the age, but he had before and it didn’t taste bad from what he had tasted. Haru was happy enough that she ended up getting to eat something she liked although his response to her question was simple “Lucky guess” Haru responded before looking back at the table, he couldn’t explain it but he all of sudden felt a lack of energy. It was as if all of a sudden his entire soul was sucked out of him and he just wanted to collapse, they had walked for a while, and he was hungry but that didn’t explain it. Haru began to think of other reasons as to why he felt let doing nothing all of sudden, and his best explanation was depression. It had been shown to lead to lack of energy in patients who had suffered from it, and although Haru never had been thought of as depressing, that was the closest rational explanation.
He thought back to his thoughts of the game, worrying about his friend sitting across from him, but there was something bigger, that he worried for. As Haru had walked the streets he had seen multitudes of people sobbing and others doing nothing, wondering how to get home. And some cried out for family, and although his lack of family had never bothered him, he wondered how his parents were. Were they aware of what had happened? If yes did they care, Haru had hoped so, but they may not have, they never seemed to care anyway.
Haru had always wondered why they even had a child if they were never around to be with it, whether it was his fault or theirs he would most likely never find out.
Haru was brought back to the world of reality, out of his thoughts. He slowly scanned the area, as if an eagle looking for a fish in the ocean, he liked the view he had but it still didn’t compare to the real world. His eyes landed on Isa for a second, and his worries came back, and he quickly looked away as to not be overwhelmed.
Haru grabbed the opened bottle and poured the wine, the glass filling to the widest part, about halfway up before he stopped. Picking up the glass he took a sip, a small one but enough. The taste was new one of course; he hadn’t drank enough to experience most wines. While being a new one he still rather liked, it and should probably remember to ask the type, not that he would order it again, it was weird to drink alone after all.
He looked back at Isa as he swirled his wine in its glass, as spoke. “I wonder…considering were lost in this game, it made remember a question I once was asked. If you were to lose everything, whose arms would you run into to make everything okay.” It was a true question, and one that he truthfully never answered even being asked. He had never really had that kind of a person, one to make everything okay. But Isa seemed to have more of a social connection to people, and he wondered her answer.
Just after finishing asking his question however the waitress showed back up with their food on her plate once again. As smooth as butter she lifted Isa’s plate and set it on the end of the table and slid it too her, it landing perfectly in front of her. As well as doing the same with Haru’s, she then slid the plate under her arm and asked if everything was okay, too which Haru replied yes quickly and thanked her. And as the woman walked away he turned back to Isa waiting for an answer

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ Isa stared at Haru when he told her it was just a lucky guess. Seriously she was kind of freaked out. Of course, chicken was something a lot of people liked, but it still was so weird how he had just “Guessed”. It made her wonder if assassin’s had some sort of sense in this game that let them read minds or something. Everything was possible in this game, Right?
It was silent for a bit, but Isa didn’t really mind. Every time they did something together in real life there would usually be at least a minute or two of complete silence, so she was used to it. Besides, it allowed her to take another good look of the beautiful place she was eating right now. And it also gave her the time to feel like they were going to be in a lot of trouble because they may not have enough money to pay for everything.
Isa’s eyes soon fell down on the bottle of wine, which was now In Haru’s hand. When he started pouring the wine into a glass, for a moment, Isa thought he was going to fill the glass completely, but he luckily stopped halfway. She wasn’t really sure how much wine was needed to get someone drunk, if that was even possible in this world, but a full glass didn’t seem to be healthy. At least, according to her parents one full glass was enough to get you drunk. On special occasions no one in her family ever drank alcohol, except for her granddad. They always warned her that alcohol was horrible and that you shouldn’t ever touch it. Alcohol was were really the only thing her parents were really dramatic about. One could say Isa was brainwashed in some way to despise alcohol. Though she did wonder exactly why they were so dramatic about alcohol, and not drugs or smoking, she never really asked them.
Unlike her parents though, she didn’t think it was up to her to tell others, even just acquaintances that drinking was bad, because she simply didn’t think it was up to her to go around and tell people it was horrible to drink. It’s their choice to drink or not.
Isa was subconsciously staring at Haru’s glass for a while, but she stopped when Haru started talking. She leaned back against the comfortable chair that she wanted to just steal, listening to Haru with a slightly confused look. It was a deep question, something she didn’t expect from her friend really.
She didn’t know an answer to it immediately, but luckily the waitress came, giving her some time to think. It did make her forget to thank the waitress for bringing their food.
“Hmm.. probably Kayla’s. I mean, I’ve known her for ages and she has always been there for me.” Kayla was one of her best friends who she had been with since kindergarten. Since then, they had been in the same class for pretty much always, until the year that Isa had met Haru. Kayla’s grades had gotten worse, causing her to have to change school. Isa still had a lot of contact with Kayla though.
Isa had told Haru quite a bit about Kayla in the past, so she was sure he’d still know who she was and understand her answer.
”You’re on second place though.” She quickly added with a giggle. They had known each other for quite a while, and Isa felt like she could tell him everything.
Because of this deep and rather serious question, Isa started wondering what Haru’s answer would be. So she asked him decided to ask him after taking a sip of her water. ”How about you, what’s mister picky’s answer?” Isa teased him slightly, just for fun. She did like Mister picky as a nickname though and was obviously going to be using it more.
And now it was time to eat, finally. Isa grabbed her fork and digged into her meal in a not so elegant way. Being elegant wasn’t something she was really good at, especially when eating. Her eating manners weren’t as on point as her fabulous poses. Anyway, the food was delicious and Isa started eating maybe a little too fast..

Haru wasn’t at all surprised by the two events, one being Isa eating like she hadn’t eaten in a week, two being her wanting his answer. He figured she’d ask but he still didn’t have an answer, and it was not going to make her happy most likely. Haru felt bad now, thinking that she had at least put him in second, and his instant answer was no-one, but for a reason different than simply not having anyone, although that was mostly true as well. Haru lifted the glass to his lips again taking a sip, the glass now almost being empty, and then took a bit of lobster, which although a new flavor tasted rather good. Haru looked at Isa for a second before speaking as he grabbed the bottle of wine. “I’m not quite sure” Lie, tips the bottle to start pouring “Never really had anyone in my life for most of it” Truth, stop pouring puts down the bottle “I don’t think I would ever run into anyone’s arms to make everything seem better” Swirls wine in the glass “I never bother people I care about with my own problems, they never need the weight on them, it is my issue and I will figure it out on my own.” Lifts the glass and takes a sip again “If everything was going wrong id be more likely to give up than to ask for help, I’ve never been much of a person to ask for help, and I don’t think I’ll start anytime soon.”
He hoped that answer would suffice, after it was the truth, and he rarely would tell such information to people, as he saw no point in explaining his own flaws, that being that he would not ask for help. Haru knew that help was necessary sometimes, but he always felt that someone out there would need the help more than him, and that’s why he left it alone. Haru took a bit of his taco, and another, and then another until his first was gone. He looked back at Isa “However you’d be my second choice” He said, and a small twinkle could be seen for a split second in his eye before his normal expressionless face returned.
As Haru thought more about his answer he regretted asking the question, and then answering it. He wasn’t always such a loner, and used to not mind help. But he needed help in middle school, and the friends that he made gave him that help, and then he lost them, moving to England for reasons aside form simply school, friends brought pain, and so did help. And that’s why Haru hated help, it wasn’t that Haru was simply a completely emotionless person, he had feelings but he did what he could to avoid circumstances that brought up those feelings. Lately he had not been very successful in doing so, and he needed to get back in to that habit.
Haru looked outside the window in his thoughts, seeing how much later it had gotten from when they started their venture to find food. Nighttime had always been Haru’s favorite time; it resembled what other saw him as, and what he wished he truly was, infinite and peaceful. It used to be a nice sight as well, when he used to look out the window and be able to see the stars amid the light of the japan city through his window as he would lay in bed. It calmed him down.
Haru wondered if Isa was ever concerned about him, if anyone knew that he was more complicated than he seemed to be, she would. And Haru himself would not want to have to deal with that, ad most likely wouldn’t. In the end thought he subsided the thought, he was simply happy that she was able to deal with him, and that they were friends. Throughout his thoughts Haru had been sub-consciously eating and only had one of his tacos left, which elated him, he was still tired and really desired a soft, cold bed in which to fall to asleep.

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ Haru’s answer was predictable really. In the time that Isa knew him, he had never really been the one that pretty much told everyone what was on their mind, just like herself. Honestly, Isa thought it was incredibly stupid to keep everything for yourself. Putting too much stress or emotions on yourself would make anyone explode, that’s just a matter of time. Isa saw it as a pile of books, something that would eventually fall due too even the smallest mistake when putting another book on.
Not asking for help was another one of those things that, in Isa’s eyes, weren’t really smart. Why wouldn’t you ask for help? Because of being shy, Lazy or scared? Or was it because it made one feel weak.. She didn’t really know why he wouldn’t do it.
It was time for Isa to get serious, for once.
Isa waited for Haru to finish eating his taco before starting to talk. Though she was blocked by Haru saying she would be the second choice. It was nice, of course, but it sadly didn’t make her forget what she wanted to say.
She let out a sigh before she talked in a surprisingly serious, yet still kind tone. “You should ask for help if you need it. It’s not good to let emotions or whatever pile up, in fact, I personally find it pretty idiotic. I can understand if you don’t have anyone to talk to, but hey.” She pointed at herself. “I’m right here and not okay with being on second place. I want to be first and you know that.” Isa smiled. She wanted to say more, but.. She kind of forgot. Instead, she just started eating again. Now the question was
Did her words actually do something, or were they just ignored. She was expecting the second, as it wouldn’t be that easy to change someone mind, at least that’s what she thought.
When Isa noticed it was already dark, it didn’t take long for her to finish her plate. She was almost drooling after her last bite, craving for more. Isa quickly drank her water, which was half full, in one chug. Isa wasn’t a big fan of walking around in the dark, so she just wanted to pay and get out. Well, Haru was the one that would be paying, but that didn’t matter.
Isa put her fork down and used the napkin next to her plate to quickly clean her mouth and cheeks. She ate like a pig, so her cheeks were pretty much covered in food.
After finishing cleaning her face, Isa put the napkin on her plate and stretched her arms above her head. She was a little tired, and had to keep herself from yawning. “I am ready to go~” She would then wait for Haru to finish his meal before lifting her right hand into the air to signal a waiter. Soon after that, a waiter would show up at their table and take the empty plates after Isa asked if they could pay. After a bit the waiter would then return, also making a panel appear with the bill on it and a button one of the two had to press to pay directly from their account.

Haru was slightly surprised that Isa had responded in the way she did, he had heard before that the way he thought about things was idiotic, but it had never changed his process, and he wouldn’t start now, but he was surprised that Isa had attempted at least. He didn’t really react much to her wanting to be first, after all if you were to count people, not actions she would be first considering his first was no one. But maybe one day she would reach that rank, and be a person he would ask help from but it was less likely the more he began to like her so it was highly unlikely unless his opinion changed. After all he had his reason as to why he didn’t like help, and she didn’t know them and Haru sure as hell was not going to explain the reason, he didn’t even want to repeat it in his own head let alone out loud to Isa. The emotions that would come up, while controllable did not need to be felt at all, avoided was more like it.
He watched as Isa basically engulfed her food and was finished with her water before he could even complete his thinking process. He looked at his plate with the final taco and the wine bottle that was still half full. He ate the taco and finished the half glass of wine he had left, filling it again before finishing it.
As he finished his third glass the waitress showed up and eyed the glass in front of Isa that had clearly not been filled and ¾ empty bottle, looking back at Haru. She spoke asking if everything was going well looking astonished that their plates had actually been cleared in such a timely manner.
Haru responded saying “Yes, but we would like a to-go order of your chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream please, and bring the bill so we can be off” The Waitress smiled and nodded before quickly walking off to place the order and grab the bill. Haru looked back at Isa “There’s that cake you wanted, I noticed it on the menu as I was looking earlier and remembered your face when you saw that cake shop” HE hoped she would be happy with his choice, but didn’t really have to time to notice as the cake was out quickly along with a bill that he paid, left a tip on the table and walked out of the store. IT was time to return to a bed and crash for the night, it had been a long day and he had finally gotten Isa to agree to at least fight with him in the morning which was a win.
As for the restaurant, he was glad he found something of quality but unlike the real world he noticed a large difference in his before cash and after cash from when he had walked to left, and he didn’t really want to talk about it and avoided any thoughts of it.
He walked the route that he knew to the inn, one of the only ones that he would actually stay at as it was of decent quality, and walked into the inn, asking the person running the counter for a room before looking back at Isa “ready to finally go to bed, you can have the cake when we get our room or tomorrow I do not care.”

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ To make the day one of the best of her whole life, Haru ordered a chocolate cake for her. If they hadn’t been inside, Isa would’ve pounced onto him and probably would’ve almost choked him by hugging too hard. Cake was all that one needed to make Isa like them. You could get almost anything from her if you gave her a tasty cake. Heck, one could even bribe her with cake. That’s how much she loved cake.
And it was also a chocolate cake.
The fact that he had picked one of the most delicious cakes out there really made Isa wonder if he could actually read her mind. At first it was just a joke, but she was being serious right now.
Isa had a giant smile on her face as she listened to what Haru said. She didn’t listen that well, all she heard was cake really. “Yeah yeah, I love you right now.” she giggled. He had been a gentleman for almost the whole day, which was good, of course.
The cake arrived, and Isa had to stop herself from hugging the waitress. She didn’t care about the bill at all and really was only thinking about cake. She hadn’t had it for AGES, so she didn’t find it that weird that she was so damn excited. Isa quickly got up and took the cake from the waitress. She already wanted to start eating, but stopped herself because it’d be embarrassing.
After paying, Isa followed out of the restaurant and walked next to him on the way to the inn. The way wasn’t really spectacular, Isa had walked this path over 4 times so it being boring was kind of expected. Luckily, it didn’t take too long for them to arrive at the hotel.
The hotel had a basic but somewhat classy exterior, otherwise Haru would’ve probably never gone in side with her. The rooms were small, but had a really comfortable bed in them, that’s the only thing Isa had remembered really from the last time they came here.
Whenthey entered the building, Isa was already hyped to eat the cake, and she just followed Haru to the counter where he asked for a room for them. Haru then asked her if she was ready to go to bed, which she was. It had been, compared to other days, a pretty active day for Isa. They had walked far too much, which was tiring. The man behind the counter handed them a key to room 206, which was on the 2nd floor according to the man. Isa quickly took the key and walked up the stairs that led to the second floor. She then looked for the room, which wasn’t too hard to find as it was quite close to the stairs.
Isa opened the door and walked into the room, putting her cake on the table not too far away from the door. The room was small and had a big, king-sized bed standing against the right wall. There were white cabinets on each side of the bed with lamps on them. Isa quickly jumped onto the left side of the bed, pretty much claiming it. She always slept on the left side of a bed, and this wasn’t gonna be an exception.
Isa stood up again to grab her cake before sitting down on the end of the bed. She got rid of the wrapping around it and threw it on the ground. There luckily was a plastic fork and knife stabbed into the top of the cake so she could actually cut it, otherwise she would’ve had to eat it with her hands.
Being the nice person she was, isa cut off two pieces of the cake and handed one over to Haru. She then started eating her own piece and as expected her cheeks were soon filled with crumbs and chocolate. It was a really delicious cake though. Isa looked around for something to clean her face with, but she didn’t really know what to use.. Using her own clothes wasn’t exactly handy so she just decided to ask Haru if he had any ideas. ”Uhm.. Do you have any idea how Ican clean my face?” she asked him, giggling at herself because she knew she ate like a six year old.

Haru and Isa had walked up to their room in the hotel in which they would sleep yet another night in, and watched as two things happened, Isa ran over and jumped on the bed, claiming it as her own as if a lion and their territory, as well as her giving him a piece of cake and then destroying her own. It was rather entertaining but worrying as well. Isa Asked Haru how she could clean herself, but she still hadn’t finished yet, Isa hadn’t known but Haru wasn’t much of a chocolate lover, and only got it for Isa in the first place. “Well, there a shower, you could just take one, or use the sink to wash your face, but first you need to finish this piece, I’m not a huge chocolate fan, I got it for you. But do what you want; I’m going to bed wake me up when you’re ready to go training tomorrow”
And With that Haru laid on his back on the right side of the bed which was handed to him with no choice. He didn’t mind, and as he laid in bed staring at the ceiling he began t think once again. About the day, it had been the only day in this world that he could ever say was better than an average day in the real world, he was able to make Isa happy for once, and that meant the world to Haru.

| ◀ | You're the apple to my pie❤ Haru’s advice was useful as she hadn’t really even noticed there was a door to the left of the bed that lead to a small room with a shower and sink. Though she didn’t need to go there yet, as she stil had 1/2 of her slice to devour. And apparently, another full piece too as Haru didn’t like chocolate.
Though she had quite a hard time with understanding how in the world someone didn’t like chocolate, Isa didn’t really care as this just meant there was more for her. Isa took the piece from Haru again and ate it at a slightly slower pace than she had eaten the other one. As she finished, Isa got up and went to the sink to clean her face.
When she was done cleaning her face, Isa went back to the main room and shut off the lights before crawling underneath the sheets. “So.. Comfy” she mumbled to herself as she closed her eyes, smiling slightly because she was enjoying the bed.
it was so weird to lay in a bed in a world that felt like a dream. Even though they had been in Elder Tale for quite a while, it was still so weird and unreal for Isa. She couldn’t think of a single way how they had gotten into the game. All she could think of was that she was possibly in a coma or something, and that it was all just a dream.
But that probably wasn’t true, considering that her senses worked just fine and everything felt incredibly real. It was pretty much impossible that everything felt so real in a dream. Anyway, she didn’t want to give it too much thought and just wanted to enjoy the time she could spend in the beautiful, yet slightly scary world.
Isa was a little nervous for tomorrow. It would be her first time fighting, and that was a big deal for her. She was prepared though, and not alone, so the chance of something going terribly wrong was hopefully not so big.
After thinking about what monsters they would be fighting tomorrow, Isa ended up falling asleep in the warm, cozy bed, when she started thinking about slimes. Creatures that she was certain of they’d be the first thing she’d encounter.
