[attr="class","boneshatter3"]For the moment, it appeared that Ducky had spaced out entirely, unsure of what his new companion had said to him. Should I just ask him...no then he'll know that I wasn't paying attention. But he already knows I'm not paying attention because I just ignored what he was saying. Shoot shoot shoot Ducky you have GOT to pay attention! Instead, he was caught off guard by another person that was talking to him. He smiled at her, without thinking, and accepted the compliment. "Aww, thanks!! I don't think I've ever heard anyone say something like that." He beamed a goofy grin back at her, noticing that she was very pretty. Well, pretty for a game's avatar. That was something Ducky still hadn't gotten used to. People here didn't look like this in the real world. This was all imaginary compared to what their actual selves looked like. So in all likelihood her hair was a much more tame color, and she probably dressed in jeans and a t-shirt most of the time. It was still difficult to think about because who knows if anyone would ever make it back out? The thought was depressing at times, but Ducky was bound not to let it get the best of him. He threw his arm around his new friend and waved with his free one, beckoning her to come closer for a chat. Moments later, the stranger received a package. Ducky's focus was moving from stranger to stranger, trying to figure out what was going on. In battle, he was an excellent strategist, but outside of combat his perceptive abilities seemed to fade in and out. He removed his arm from the male, curiously peeking over his shoulder to see what the package was. It didn't look like anything special, so Rubber Ducky turned his attention back toward the female that had called out to him. Upon closer examination, she was named parasole. That wasn't such a bad name, but Ducky couldn't really be talking about people's names now could he? "Nice to meet you, Parasole. I'm Rubbery Ducky, but you can just call me Ducky."Word Count: 356 + 178 = 534 Shuwen parasoleNote: apologies for the delay! real life got in the way and I'm having to cover two other people at my job for the time being :/ [newclass=.boneshatter1]background-color:#151515;width:500px;height:500px;color:#bbbbbb;font-size:10px;text-align:justify;overflow:hidden;[/newclass] [newclass=.boneshatter3]width:447px;padding-right:3px;height:337px;margin-top:15px;margin-left:25px;overflow:auto;border:solid 2px #151515;[/newclass] [newclass=.boneshatter3::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb:vertical]background-color:#b80c00;border:solid 2px #151515;border-radius:7px;[/newclass] [newclass=.boneshatter3::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color:#eeeeee;width:11px;border:solid 5px #151515;[/newclass] [newclass=.boneshatter2]margin-top:0px;position:relative;z-index:1;-webkit-transition-duration:.4s;transition-duration:.4s;-moz-transition-duration:.4s;[/newclass] [newclass=.boneshatter2:hover]margin-top:-380px;-webkit-transition-duration:.4s;transition-duration:.4s;-moz-transition-duration:.4s;[/newclass]

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."
|
Jac allowed himself to be kissed again, slightly distracted by the conflicting emotions that roiled around with him but feeling surprisingly comfortable being held in such a tender fashion. When was the last time someone had done something like this? Besides Jane he couldn't recall any instances of positive physical contact in his life, his parents had been so distant and friends few and far between. Of romantic relationships there were none, his lack of confidence ensuring he had never pursued anyone and his reclusiveness preventing others from seeking him out. It was such a strange sensation, the larger arm resting against the small of his back and the soft breaths brushing across his face before Tadashi kissed him.
It was all so confusing, and not at all what he had expected to have occurred, even if it was an event celebrating romantic love. Resting his suddenly exhausted body against the Lander, the Foxtail couldn't help but feel drained. Tadashi might have felt happy, but Jac only felt a sort of serene emptiness at the moment, the turmoil of the recent events having overwhelmed his emotional state to the point that he just shut down in that area.
"I...think I need to sit down," he murmured tiredly, tail drooping slightly as he tried to sort himself out into a more functional being, his fingers curling into the larger male's clothing as he leaned his head against the broad chest and simply took deep breaths of Tadashi's scent. This wasn't just the first real physical contact that he could remember experiencing, it was also the most calm he had felt being so close to another individual. Usually any intrusion into his personal space was for negative purposes, so it was difficult for him to relax when someone came close. It was almost a relief to be free from that kind of worry at this point in time.
He wasn't so naive to think it wasn't going to come back of course, it had taken him years to develop such an aversion and it wasn't going to disappear in one night no matter how momentous.
Assuming Tadashi lead him somewhere to sit, the foxtail could be convinced to sit in the other man's lap to be held, otherwise he would simply sit next to the Lander and lean against him. "Since we're.....whatever it is we are now..." Jac began quietly, his voice betraying the tiredness he was feeling, "we should get to know one another. I only really know your name, and nothing about your likes and dislikes, or what your life has been like and where you grew up..." he sighed for a moment as he realised just how much he was asking to know. "It doesn't have to be all at once, but I want to get to know you....It's....it's important that people in a relationship are friends too, right?" He was very hesitant towards the end, uncertain as to how accurate his statement was, but even throughout the years he was sure of his fate to be alone he had always considered friendship a key aspect to any romantic relationship.

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover
Nodding at the suggestion that arose from the exhausted body clinging to his, the lander only wrapped his arms around him more protectively lending his strength to the man as the moved to a nearby seat. Seeing as the man was tired and his reluctance of either one to separate, Tadashi could only sigh with content as he felt the man nuzzle his chest while the foxtail adorned his lap, the man's hands remained wrapped around him, soothing him with soft casual unintentional caresses.
'Good question' The lander thought as another sigh escaped his lips, it was hard to care about much when everything he wanted rested against him within his protective grasp, safe from the world. "we should get to know one another. I only really know your name, and nothing about your likes and dislikes, or what your life has been like and where you grew up..." As the foxtail spoke, the lander nodded along with him, frowning for a moment as he thought about each question. It was true they had certainly come together as if fate decided it was time to throw them together and for the most part the lander was fairly content with that for the moment, however it was clear to him that if this was intended as a long term thing, they would need to share interests and backgrounds.
Pulling the foxtail closer into him, he couldn't help but smile as he noticed the sorcerer's tail. Blinking, he lowered his head to look at the head nuzzled into his chest, his breath rustling the grey hair on top slightly as he breathed. The lander was about to start talking when the sorcerer spoke once more, his words causing the lander to blush immediately and pause. A relationship. That was the foxtail's words, not his and it surprised the hell out of him. Due to the man's reluctance to trust, to submit fully to whatever drew them together, he hadn't intended on moving so fast, in fact due to consideration of the shorter man, he was planning on moving very slow, but it seemed once more that night, the sorcerer wanted to surprise him.
Looking up from the fox tail, Tadashi couldn't help but gaze around the area. Everyone seemed to pairing off and the on going performances on the stage only seemed to provide a soothing background atmosphere. He took a deep breath, letting it fill his lungs completely before allowing the air to escape. Slowly he returned his gaze to the man's head, one hand sought out the fox tail's and he forced their digits to loosen and entwine together. "I believe people ask each other before they become a couple." He smirked as he felt the sorcerer react, holding him close, Tadashi smiled, the fox tail's tail never seemed to fail in adding to the man's cute appeal.
"Jacoben, will you go out with me?" He let his voice take on a soothing and soft tone as he spoke cradling Jacoben in his arms, he smiled. "If you do, we can start by holding hands as a couple." Shifting his position slightly so that his back was more comfortable and the sorcerer was no sort of lying on his chest as he leaned back against a sturdy wall, he closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying how the man felt against his body. Letting a soft kiss fall on the man's head, he took a breath. The two had a lot ahead of them in their new relationship, but having a slow start was going to make it worth the while.
"I'm an only child," The lander began as he gazed out towards the stage continuing to caress the smaller adventurer. "I grew up in a small fishing village about three days journey from here, it is fairly small, but the people are nice, they care about one another." Tadashi let out a soft sigh as he let memories of a past long forgotten flood his mind. "I'm afraid of water, not just of swimming, I can swim might I add." He gave a soft chuckle. "And I'm only afraid of oceans, I'm fine in streams and pools." He paused and continued to smile. "I don't like the unknown of the ocean, how far it extends and how easy it would be for me to become lost in the deep." He pulled the shorter man closer instinctively. "I love to bake, I even have my own shop, but I tend to favor apples, especially warm apple tart and I love waking up in the morning and getting out of bed and feeling that cool air surround my body." He blew a soft breath down at Jacoben and smiled. "That's all you'll get from me without something in return. You turn, tell me something about you?"

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."

Though he was unknowingly surprising Tadashi with the speed he was considering to god, to Jacoben it made perfect sense to consider them a couple. He was far too cautious and afraid for a casual fling, and he felt that he had gotten that point across fairly well prior to allowing the larger male to embrace and kiss him. That Tadashi had continued led the Sorcerer to believe that the Lander agreed to try a proper relationship with him, and that was that. It might take him time to properly open up to the other, but once his mind was made up Jac was determined to see it through.
Of course then the big lug had to go and be embarrassing by actually asking him out and twining their fingers together in a fashion which caused a stirring in his stomach that somehow broke through the tranquillity that he was currently experiencing. "I'm sitting in your lap after you kissed me hard enough that my grandparents probably felt it, and now you think to ask me that?" he murmured softly, head leaning back against the broad chest tiredly as he brought their joined hands into his own lap, "I should have words with your mama about that sort of behaviour young man..."
Slow to trust, and cautious, Jac seemed to blossom rapidly once he finally took that step to be comfortable around someone, and Tadashi had been persistent enough that he was now experiencing it firsthand.
The Foxtail listened as Tadashi spoke, each exhalation from the man causing his ears to twitch as the breath fell against the sensitive fur covered extremities. The casually gentle caresses caused other parts of his body to twitch as he tried to become accustomed to the sort of physical contact he had never experienced nor allowed before. If he hadn't been in such a tiredly relaxed state after his emotionally exhausting breakdown it probably would have gone very differently, but as it was he simply sat sedately in the dark haired man's lap and soaked in the information that was being shared.
"You can cook then? That's good...sometimes it seems like all I can do is burn water," Jac mused idly as he pressed back into the warm body behind him, his tail coming up to cover his legs in a fashion similar to a blanket. "Apple tarts.... I haven't had something like that in a long time, I can barely remember what they were like." He could vaguely recall his paternal grandmother baking when he was a young child, before his parents began to fully reject his oddities and they could be bothered taking him anywhere. She had been a battleaxe of an old woman when roused to anger, but she'd always slipped him food when no one else was looking, and he'd spent a lot of time with her to keep away from various bullying cousins.
"I'm an only child too," the silver haired youth began slowly, his accent becoming a bit thicker as the warmth and caresses combined with his tiredness to encourage him to sleep. "I grew up far away from here," technically true even if he located his place of birth on an Elder Tales map, "and my parents didn't really have much time for me, so I had to entertain myself. I like to draw and paint, and I've taken up sculpting and carving lately too. I'm thinking of moving onto making jewellery too, if I can learn how to work with metals and get the right equipment. It's a great feeling to watch something like that come to life beneath your fingers..." he trailed off for a few heartbeats, pondering what else to say.
"I love reading stories, and trying to make them, even if I'm not very good at it. I've always been relatively isolated, so I don't...no, never mind it's not important. Most of my life has been pretty boring, it's only recently that anything interesting began happening to me....before that I was just a weird little boy who preferred to be left alone." Here he trailed off, lost in the memories of a childhood as an outcast. He wasn't so self-centred to believe that he wasn't also to blame for those days, it wasn't like he tried to become more sociable or liked, but he had let his anxiety rule him and that had brought him to where he was now.
Perhaps that wasn't such a bad thing...
"Umm...I speak three languages, because my father thought it was important I was able to communicate with people from the continent. He wanted me to be a businessman like him, even though I hate that sort of thing. I'm trained in a martial art, which I've been doing for about eleven years..." he wracked his mind for anything else that might have been relevant that he could mention to pry more out of Tadashi. A yawn cracked his pale features as he continued to ensure that he was comfortable on the older man's lap, fidgeting around to find the most comfortable spot and lolling his head backwards so he could stare into the sky.
The clarity and depth of the stars reminded him of something else that he could add as well, a wry grin spreading across his face, "I used to have to wear glasses too, couldn't see very well without them. Then they just got better, and nowadays I can see better without them than I ever could with them." Of course, it was in his previous life and his old body that he had needed glasses, but it was the truth strictly speaking. He didn't know if Tadashi had been told about the way they had come from a different world, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to even bring it up. After all, he was determined to forget about that world as much as he possibly could, to let the memories of a boring and pain-filled life float away until he truly was a part of this new world he was in.
It was unlikely a common opinion, but he'd never have voiced it even if it had been, so it remained a hidden truth about the Foxtail Sorcerer.

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover
"We can bake them together so," He paused and gave a cheeky grin. "Well I can bake and you can keep me company. I know some adventurers can't work with food." He continued his cheeky smile. "Perhaps you can paint me something in return, I can model and keep you company." He gave another cheeky smile as he relaxed somewhat letting his guard down. It was amazing what adventurers could and couldn't do, for example he sat listening to music that before tonight he didn't even know was possible to make, people of the land had only known the forty two and here was adventurers creating this wonderful sound and yet some of them didn't seem to be able to cook anything or sew a top back together.
He sighed as he thought about the event that had changed everything, not only had the world he loved and grown up in changed dramatically, adventurers were separated from their own one and that was hard for many people of the land to grow accustomed to and as much as they tried to understand adventurers, the race seemed to just become stranger and stranger the more they found out. Still letting his hands caress the boy, he couldn't help but stare off into the distance, enjoying how beautiful the night sky seemed to be.
"When I was a child I used to watched adventurers like yourself pass through my home town on some daring quest to battle fierce creatures, not as handsome or as cute as you I might add," He gave the foxtail a cuddle before continuing. "But I used to watch you immortal beings with such amazement, such awe. I used to make up stories for each adventurer that I saw, how you were on some quest to save someone or defeat some impossible monster. I used to even imagine I was one of you when I was little." He gave a chuckle as he remembered the trouble he hadn't gotten into with his mother for exploring dangerous areas near his home in search of a monster to slay.
"You inspired me to want something more, to push myself. If it hadn't have been for those adventurers I might just be a fisher by now, instead I live in this amazing city among people who I have always dreamed of." A happy sigh escaped his lips as he talked. "Still it must be hard for you," He paused for a moment as he thought about the boys words. "Up until what do you people call it, the catastrophe, adventurers didn't really seem to be very bright, how wrong we were." He gave a short chuckle.
"My mom used to tell me when I had trouble sleeping at night, that Adventurers were brave souls who were from a far away world like the ones that shone in my bedroom window at night, they came here to protect us." He paused with his arms wrapped around the sorcerer. "In a way she was correct huh," He paused before he mentioned the druid's name and ruined what a perfect moment it was. "I learned that the reason you call it the catastrophe is because you cannot return home any more." He held the boy closer to him now. "That is a heavy burden, leaving love ones behind can be hard." He paused and studied the head buried into his chest for a moment. "I don't know if I could manage it as well as you have. But I just hope you can love this world as much as the people do."

WC: 1025 “Hmph, no sales, tha’s ta be expected. Was kind oaf hopin’ one would tak’ a break ta introduce meh ta a crazeh ongoin’ plot. I guess some othar time will do.”“Probably because you overcompensate for your small size with your immense ego, none wants to buy poison from a boar fu-”“Sod off you uninventively named Gerald, I dun’t pay ya ta take a good chunk oaf mah viewer time! Besides I’m nut lik’ ya, ya probable fathered ha’f ta boars in tis land, ya fecking whore.”The big mass gave a loud snort in what Tobin assumed to be amusement; Tobin had already turned off natures tongue to battle with a greater menice deep within him. A loud grumble from deep within his broad frame echoed as a small indication of the black hole compressed within his stomach; for Dwarf it took the entirety of his strength to keep it in as his eyes rolled back, less the world suffer the catalytic wraith of its release. In short, Tobin was staving. So much so that even the boar he rode on seemed like a good meal. “Gah, wutevar, swagtusk, tak’ et up ta a trot. I’ll giv’ ya reward when we get thur’."With a troat the boar took off, people naturally forced to part for the adventurer and his brutish beast that it wasn’t long before the pair arrived at the prestistious restrant. As the half-strider disembarked a tug stopped him; the boar’s jaws locked around one of his arms. “Don’t cheap out on me, midget”A sigh erupted from the stocky fellow as he fished through his inventory and produced three bottles of liquor and only after the contents were poured into it’s maw was he released. Care was taken to ensure that Natures Tongue was turned off as the boar bolted off; with a one track mind like his Dwarf didn’t want to know what it was saying, nor wanted to imagine what maiden (or man) would wake up next to a randy boar the next day. It was a subject most of the audience couldn’t boar thinking about. With that Dwarf joined the que as he washed off the slobber (and responsibility) with a cainteer, as only the rich of the land could afford the rich dining it wasn’t long before the giant of a doorkeep rose above the half-strider; the Dwarf squinted with his eyes as he gazed up. “Jus’ me laddie, ya hav’ a spare table seat avalible? “You needed to book in. We don’t take random punters in here, shortbred.”The flicker of irritation flared up within the personality concealed under Dwarf’s surface and; perhaps for the briefest of seconds the Dwarf felt his self-restraint slip as a wave of murderious intent seeped out into the environment, though the facial expression didn’t change a tightening of his muscle caused those behind him to step back. Considering the numerous deeds of the dwarf through continuous months of adventuring in the savage north the dwarf took the insult gravest way, his short temper part of the reason why much of the time Dwarf wasn’t the one to deal with outsiders to the guild; aside from parties. “Oh, fair enough.” Yet the waves emotion eebed as soon as they crashed upon the shore, the biped shuddering sigh accompanied his relaxation as he fished though his inventory. The impassive doorman should have been honoured for Tobin was about to break a fundamental rule behind his Dwarf role-play; he stopped being Jewish to sate his appertie. “I git ya, rule ‘re rules. But ta compensate ya worreh why dun’t ya take a couple case oaf tis far a sample. All level 40 beverage, vereh nice quality ‘n’ easileh worth ta compensation fee, wha’ ya say?”With that two crates of his finest variety was stacked up at the door as the door man gave a fleeting inspection and gave a slight shrug; likely the Dwarf would cause a ruckus if not allowed in. “Fine, you have 5 minutes to find a table with anyone. If you don’t, you’re out.”With a dejected sigh he entered as the Dwarf drifted through the tables, his pink hued gaze scanned behind rose spectacles. Then he spotted his victims companions around that table; @0x1dea, Charuen and Midori all crowded around one table, a curious eyebrow rose as the Dwarf head bobbed over the grand tables. Naturally he couldn’t have known that only two of them were going out, right? -Cheeky fellow, some people struggle fa one date, he’s got two? The bastards with the pretty avatars get all the chicks! Damn you pretty boys!-With that he made a beeline straight to the table, the dimming light a cover as he took an empty chair along with him and silently stacked himself up to the table; presumably sitting opposite to Oxford as not deny him access to either the ladies (cough twilight) but also so that their attention was drawn away from the dwarf for the longest time, before his harsh voice piped up. “Well, we evar be ‘ere fa tha’ cookin’ contest, oar we be ‘bout tha’ witness the best strippers tis land has’ ta offar. I hope ets tha' latur! Bahahaha!”That rumble echoed across the table; the crude accent out of place in an otherwise posh environment; that much was evident from distasteful looks directed toward him. Whether Tobin noticed wasn’t visible as a grin was flicked to all the beautiful people. “Howdeh! do I hope I aren’t intaruptin’ aneh twilight romances ‘ere, am-i-rite?” There the fellow paused, a cloth towel neatly tucked over his chest to cover up the dapper ascot tie. “Well tough! Ya hav’ta be dealin’ width tha’ midget! Bahahah! ‘Ow ya be doin’ anehway?"
With that the Dwarf glanced at the menu with the slightest of frowns as he noticed a growing trend; the illicit love fruit that everyone raved about was in every item in this menu. With a roll of his eyes he scribbed the items from the menu he wanted; a roll of the eyes made evident his dislike of the mind altering fruit. “Well, at l’est I knuw one ‘hing I dun’t luv, tha’ soddin’ fruit.”(OOC: Sorry Hirosame, I had written the entire post out before I checked for more recent posts, just trying to get this one done, then write for Harmies buddies. Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 The cleric stood there for a moment awkwardly as she waited for one of them to respond and each second seemed to be the longest wait of her life. You could never tell how people would react since Elder tales was a reality, it somehow seemed to warp their personalities somewhat.
People who were confident and happy, had become withdrawn and others who long or escape more than anything, seemed to have a refreshed taste for life, Parasole couldn't help but wonder if she wasn't constantly reminded of the cage she stood within, which she would be.
Thankfully the short cleric wasn't left waiting much longer, the two seemed to acknowledge her presence, the blue haired one seemed to be confusion, was he shy or perhaps still in the closet? Maybe he didn't expect anyone to comment on their relationship, either way his handsome partner with the funny name seemed to like the compliment even thanking her. Nodding at his introduction, she smiled. "Ducky, that's cute."
She gave a soft chuckle as another approached. It wasn't until the exchange between the newcomer and the blue haired one had finished, that the cleric even realized that it was Rook. Parasole could feel the woman's gaze on her however as she left, Rook seemed to dislike clothing that didn't serve a purpose.
"Are you guys doing anything interesting tonight?" The cleric questioned trying to ignore the other man's package, although she was quite curious as to why he would want such a thing or why anyone would send it to him. "I'm at loss myself."

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."
|
"Can't work with food is an understatement..." the tired Foxtail murmured, thinking back to his only attempt at cooking since he had come to this new world. It was...unappetizing to say the least, and that was the only thing he would say on that matter. Turning his attention to the rest of what Tadashi had to say, he felt himself colour slightly at the thought of painting the other man. "I'm not really that good at painting portraits..." he demurred. The painting process had always been private for him, and even having a model there would make things very different for him. He wasn't entirely certain he liked that idea regardless of who it was that was the subject of the painting.
He listened as the Lander explained what life had been like for him prior to the Apocalypse, which matched up to the other accounts he had gotten from Landers during the previous year. The Sorcerer might not have been one of the players who had gone out to grind levels, but he hadn't been idle during his time in this world, focused as he was in becoming a proper part of it. "Bow before me mortal and worship my grandeur..." he drawled quietly before chuckling slightly at the pompous words, content to continue staring up into the sky and tracing familiar patterns of stars in the sky.
"Before the catastrophe we weren't.....whole, I suppose. The body was here, but the mind was far far away, and only controlling the body from a distance. I suppose that's why we seemed less than intelligent to you, because you weren't seeing the complete us," Jac mused, putting the situation in a way which might have been easier for Tadashi to understand than the unvarnished truth. It was easier to say too, than admit what life had been like for him in the other world, where he had had nothing and practically no one to call his own.
The silver haired teen frowned slightly at the rest of Tadashi's words, tensing slightly as he thought of home. "I don't know about the others, it's not something that is polite to ask, but for me....I like it here. It's different to what I know, and can be scary at times, but I like it better than where I was before. I feel more alive than I have before, and happier too.... I didn't really leave anyone behind either... so while it's been difficult getting used to such a different world, I wouldn't change it for anything. Besides, I'd not have met you if it hadn't happened, and I have a feeling that would have been a big deal." He let out a sigh that was part tiredness, part contentedness and curled further into Tadashi's lap.
"I doubt that there are many others who feel the way I do though.... I've never mentioned it before...I wonder why I did now," it was strange how much he was opening up to Tadashi, like he had just been waiting for someone who he could trust to speak to. Jane was his good friend, and they spoke about just about everything, but the Guardian still considered this to be nothing more than a game and he never brought up his feelings about it for fear of being mocked. It wasn't that he felt that Jane would be cruel, but she might disregard what he was saying or tell him that he was being silly about it, and he didn't want to deal with that from her, it would hurt too much. Somehow he doubted that Tadashi would make fun of him for not wanting to leave, after all, the Lander wanted the Adventurers to become attached to the land.
He fell silent for a while, enjoying the proximity of another person and feeling warm and content for the first time all day. It was a nice change of pace but he wasn't sure what should happen next. "Maybe we should eat, that seems to be fairly standard for the first time you go somewhere with someone you're dating," he stated quietly as he stared at the stars, calm but feeling those feelings of uncertainty slowly returning.

Words: 416 It didn’t seem like anyone else cared he’d been pranked. Shuwen wasn’t entirely sure what to think of that. On one hand, it meant no more drama over it, which was nice. On the other, it seemed a bit odd. The courier didn’t even seem to care, reporting her status and giving them a canned farewell before running off somewhere. Maybe he’d been better at keeping it discreet then he’d realized? No matter then. His mind briefly wandered towards the courier that had just left, why was she still working in the middle of a festival. He supposed people needed to deliver chocolates and Coconia cards or whatever they had in the world of Elder Tale in the place of Valentines card, but he doubt their mail traffic was that heavy. parasole seemed to be avoiding looking at the package unconsciously. Or perhaps consciously? He wasn’t sure of the reason behind it, but she was certainly quick to get off the subject. She asked them what they were up to, adding an odd amount of stress on the plural words. Just what was she trying to get at? He tried to imagine what they looked like from her point of view, and possible reasons why she’d be acting the way she was, but he couldn’t think of anything. Well, he did think of one or two possibilities, but nothing that seemed likely. Rubber Ducky managed to get over whatever had caused him to start spacing out, and quickly introduced himself, but seemed to have closed up a bit, more so when it had just been the two of them. I guess he's even worse at dealing with girls then I am. He thought bemused, and that's saying something.“No idea. As it is, we’re keeping company primarily out of boredom.” The monk said, perhaps a bit quicker then he’d meant to. “Everyone else seems to have paired up, drunk themselves up to their eyeballs or found another distraction, so there’s not much else for a pair of wallflowers like us to do right now.” Their conversation was briefly drowned out by a dwarf and a human arguing about something nearby, but they soon passed, leaving them free to talk again. “Any of you still hungry? I have some cookies I made earlier. Coconia cookies, obviously” He supposed he wouldn’t mind getting another opinion on how they’d come out, though after the lander chef’s critique, it was probably superfluous. Well, sharing is caring, or however the saying goes.

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover
The lander couldn't help but frown at the foxtail's refusal to paint him but he understood that perhaps the sorcerer was unable to didn't like to paint portraits. It made sense due to the man's cryptic and illusive nature. Then again painting often took time and a good deal of inspiration, so perhaps the foxtail just liked to paint by himself as a way to pass the time.
Mortal? The lander had chuckled then drawing the man particularly close. He nodded along with the dual eyed man's words as he spoke. From what people of the land had presumed about adventurers before the event and what they knew now, it made sense that part if not a majority of the adventurer's personality had been left behind, only their body seemed to complete the journey, because he and the rest of his people had definitely noticed the change in every adventurer out and yet it was oddly comforting, maybe not to his people, but Tadashi always loved the idea of adventurers and their will and strength, if their minds held as much passion as their bodies, then who knows what lay in store for the Unfounded Kingdom. He couldn't help but blush as he wondered how much passion the sorcerer held within that small petite frame.
Having listen to Zyrune talk about how much he missed his sister, the lander had expected the same for nearly every adventurer but they were as mixed and varied as the people of the land seemed to be. Some had families, some did not, some preferred their old world while a few like the one huddled against him seemed to prefer the world of Elder Tales. The more time Tadashi spent getting to know them, the more he fell in love with them.
“Seems like a good plan.” The lander sighed with a smile enjoying how the man had had mentioned that they were dating so casually even though it was entirely new to them. He couldn't quite stop the fond smile from slowly growing on his face. And although the lander would have liked to remain cuddled up with the shorter body, he knew that the two definitely needed something to eat, other than that cider, he couldn't remember Jacoben having anything since they met and he couldn't even remember having anything himself.
Wrapping his arms around the shorter man, he savored the warmth of his body against his larger one for a moment. Lowering his head, he stole one more soft delicate kiss from the shorter man's lips before the two rose from the seat. However the lander refused to let go of the small hander within his and he hoped that the sorcerer wouldn't protest too much to the display of public affection, then again he didn't see why he would have seeing as they had cuddled in a crowd place for the past while. As they moved a strong gust of wind blew through them, the lander shuddered for a moment, missing the warm sun that had bathed the place in warmth earlier that day. Wrinkling his nose is displeasure, he glanced down at his companion, smiling at the sight of his tail swaying this way and that as he moved. God damn that boy is cute.
Squeezing his boyfriend's hand, he relaxed as his body felt warm from the man's touch. "I don't mind where we go once the food is of the warm kind." The lander chuckled letting the shorter adventurer guide him to where he wanted to eat. The lander hoped that the night still had plenty more to go as he did not wish to part from the adventurer just yet and he couldn't help but wonder what the man was thinking about as he moved. "Do you have a place in mind cutie?" The taller man asked his eyes glancing from stall to stall. "All of these seems particularly good." As they walked the lander couldn't help but notice the blue haired monk who had fled them sitting somewhat further down the path. Shaking his head, he let out a soft chuckle.

The snow crunched under her boots as Rook trudged up the slope.
It was dark now, but the many and varied coloured lights reflecting off the snow kept it bright enough. Rook moved away from the festivities. Shadows stretched out before her and a broken branch she’d found dragged a trail behind.
It seemed to be a clear night on the slope she climbed, and every now and then she spotted couples walking in the distance. She didn't begrudge them their happiness enough to intrude.
Eventually she came to a spot on the trail that had clearly been used as camp before. A wide flat clearing with a round of stones in the centre. “Why not.” she dragged the branch into the clearing and started breaking it down. It must have been dead on the tree before it fell because it broke easily and seemed rather dry, hmm, perfect. A lucky find.
Rook wandered about gathering up more wood and tinder. Anything that hadn't been drenched by the snowfall.
The pile of wood grew until she felt it would support a larger log. She foraged until one came to hand, and then another.
There seemed no particular reason to do it, and no particular reason not to do it.
Rook lit the campfire and sat on the nearby log.
The warmth was a lovely contrast from the chill air, the warm light swayed and bobbed, it filled the shadows made by the light pollution of the festival.
Smoke rose starward.

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."
|
Jac was somewhat startled as another kiss was pressed against his lips, his face pinking a little as he realised what was happening and where they were. It seemed like his calm was wearing off and he was starting to become more self conscious once more. Even as they stood it seemed Tadashi was unwilling to let go of him entirely, their fingers intertwined as the Lander lent him support in remaining on his feet. The Foxtail reddened further, especially when people started glancing their way, but didn't fight the sign of affection, his thin fingers linking with Tadashi's after a few moments pause.
Seeing Tadashi shiver, Jacoben reached into his bag and pulled out his robe, the simple black cloth having dried since he had last worn it, and was just about the right length that Tadashi could wear it like a tunic. With that in mind he offered it to the other man silently, his face reddening even further as he tried to offer a means for the Lander to get warmer. Part of him was scared that he'd be laughed at for such a silly offer, but it was the best he could do considering how much shorter he was than Tadashi.
Inadvertently taking the lead after Tadashi declared that he didn't care what they ate, he didn't realise he gave the older man a good excuse to be looking at the way his tail swished from side to side with every step. "As long as it doesn't have Coconia in it...." he stated unequivocally, not wanting to have to deal with the embarrassment that would come with the use of such an item. The Jac had to pause in his searching as he heard the pet name that spilled from Tadashi's lips. He went bright red and curled in on himself somewhat as the word 'Cutie' caused him to want to hide out of sheer embarassment.
It would take him some time to recover from the term of endearment, but eventually he stumbled upon a place that was roasting spiced chicken as well as potato and other vegetables to make a very traditional British Meal. Feeling the need for a level of comfort food, the Sorcerer purchased enough food for the two of them and went to sit down, waiting for their food to be cooked and placed at the table by the booth owner. Once the food had arrived Jac began to eat, however his hunger had seemed to have vanished somewhat and the action was only undertaken half-heartedly. It certainly wasn't because of the skill of the cooks, perhaps it was because he was an adventurer and thus didn't need to eat that much. Otherwise he didn't really have a clue as to why the hunger he had felt earlier seemed to have left him.
"So, how big is your family?" he asked as he picked at his chicken, his face still flushed a light pink even through the meal. Jacoben had no real family in this world, and he wondered if Tadashi's were going to force him to meet them through some action or another. Or perhaps he'd be a little secret of Tadashi's, something that keeps them together despite the differences.

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover
"You okay?" The taller man questioned, eyes narrowed slightly in concern as the shorter dual eyed man stopped in his tracks and start rooting in his magical bag. After a short rummage, the man retrieved the stop he had been forced to remove earlier on that day after Zyrune had spilled the man's drink all over himself. Raising his eye brows as the short man held it towards him, he pursed his lips and tilted his head to the side inspecting it. "You sure, I might stretch it?"
As another strong gust of wind rushed through them, the lander didn't wait for a reply as he took the robe letting go of Jacoben's hand in the process to slip on the attire. "You are so short." The lander teased wiggling his eyebrows as he noticed how the robe barely came down over his waist and only reached so far down his forearms, stopping short of his wrists. "But thank you." The lander's face softened some more as he reached for the man's hand once again letting their fingers intertwine, he occasionally rubbed hi s thumb along the outside of the shorter man's hand as they moved and it was a nice change of pace to have the other man take the lead, it was clear from the way his eyes darted this way and that and how his grip would loosen slightly that he was aware of the stares people gave and it only made the smiling lander grip tighter reassuringly as they moved.
Although same sex relationships weren't unheard of, they weren't exactly rare and they weren't the strangest of things to happen lately given the entire shift in the world due to the adventurer's permanent presence. Still he was unsure how same sex relationships would have worked in the adventurer's old world, even imagining a place where every being is immortal and ageless seemed a very strange thing, he couldn't imagine how odd his world must have looked to Jacoben. He couldn't help but wonder if they were a common place thing or maybe just something that was within Elder Tales, Zyrune the only other adventurer Tadashi had tried the topic with didn't seem to either understand his flirty side or acknowledge it until it was too late.
Letting out a contented sigh at the sorcerer's response to having no coconia fruit, he couldn't help but relax somewhat. Zyrune had also stayed away from the stuff and Tadashi knew only too well that either you shouted something stupid and were laughed at, or the person expecting their name to be called got upset and disappointed when it wasn't, possibly both sometimes.
As they moved, Tadashi was simply enjoying the redness of the boy's face or the swish of his tail. He knew that fox tail's seemed to obtain more tails when they grew stronger and he couldn't help but wonder how many Jacoben really had. The lander had already seen him with too and that had been because the fox tail had lost concentration and the second had simply appeared.
Tadashi sighed, watching his breath rise above his head and dissipate into the cold air, he couldn't help but wonder where the shorter man was taking him and what he wanted to eat. Eventually the two stopped just outside a restaurant before the lander allowed himself to be dragged in and seated opposite the shorter man.
Smirking the taller man watched as the fox tail took the lead once more, purchasing and ordering for him without even asking him what he wanted. He had to prevent himself from chuckling when the man was ordering, it seemed such a change from the shy and innocent little adventurer act he had given him earlier on and he couldn't help but wonder where else the shorter man might take the lead.
Rubbing his hands together excitedly as the food was placed in front of him, he ran his tongue over his lips, his stomach almost lurching towards the table to inhale the food. He didn't know why, but now that their was food actually in front of him, he felt like he hadn't eaten in days. "Was that your way of trying to say you want to meet them?" The lander asked with a wide grin watching as the shorter man almost choked on his food in shock. Chuckling Tadashi stuffed a fork full of food into his mouth watching the other man sit uncomfortably with pure delight. It was fun to watch the fox tail try to conceal his growing blush and Tadashi would be lying if he didn't admit he found the other's reaction painfully endearing.
"It is just me and my parents," The lander spoke once he had swallowed his food. "I was actually supposed to take over the family fishing business but well I don't like to swim," He commented, the last part was kind of a grumble. "And I don't like fish." The tall man added cutting off another piece of his chicken and stuffing his face with it, before quickly swallowing it, he gazed up at the man. "I'd be willing to show you my home town some time, as long as you promise to play the part of the handsome adventurer protecting an innocent traveler on his way." He was joking of course, but it did help to have an adventurer nearby on the way. As he had mentioned before it was a few days journey to the coast where he lived and well he didn't enjoy the fact that monsters were getting more and more brave as time went by.

[attr="class","boneshatter3"] Cookies? Well that seemed to solve things! Ducky wasn't quite sure where the conversation was headed, where it had been, and what was even going on at this point. He simply looked at the woman and the other man, nodding his head and following their conversation. Until, of course, he heard something about cookies. "I'd like a cookie, if you don't mind." Ducky promptly reached his hand toward...well, who was this again? He quickly checked the profile in front of him, learning that this man was named Shuwen. So he held his hand toward Shuwen, waiting for a ball of absolute goodness to delicately cradle his palm, waiting to be devoured by a man with no limits to his desire for food. Ducky cracked a sly grin and looked toward Parasole, not really sure why he did so. These two seemed friendly enough, and it was always good to make friends. Ducky had been in and out of parties, but never found someone he could stick with long-term. Until he met Princess Ozma, of course. He was enjoying the company, so he decided that afterward he'd make a friend request to see if they'd like to meet up some time. "Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."

"It's not like that's my good robe," was all that the Foxtail had to say about the clothing article possibly being stretched, and he didn't dignify the short comment with a response. He was quite happy with his height and he wasn't going to let anyone take that from him. That it made him a good height to be held and cuddled was just an unintended side effect....at least that's what he would tell himself and he was going to stick to that story. Shrugging off the cold in the nonchalant fashion of a highlander in a 'warm' southern climate he'd have nothing to add until they had gotten settled to eat.
If he hadn't had much of an appetite before, Tadashi's response to his query would have killed it well enough. Choking on a piece of chicken for a moment he quickly managed to swallow the meat and take a sip of his drink to calm his agitated throat, face red from a mixture of embarrassment and the brief moment of choking. "What?! That's not what I.... I mean...." he didn't know how to respond to the statement and ended up simply fidgeting in his seat as he tried to think of a way to say he wasn't ready to meet anyone without it coming out rather offensive. Thankfully it seemed that Tadashi was willing to let him off the hook on that matter and continued to share snippets of his life.
"I'll bet your family wasn't happy when you decided you weren't going to take over their business when you could... I know what that's like," the last part was quieter as he contemplated the arrogant assumption from his parents that he would be joining his father's business after High School and their refusal to accept that he wanted to do something else. Hell, they'd forced him to take the classes that they wanted to help shape him into the proper little heir to his father's business ventures. Never mind that he hated the subjects, or that his mother considered him disappointing on a personal level, neither she nor his father were willing to allow him to deviate from that particular aspect of their planned life for him.
The Sorcerer frowned a little at Tadashi's joke, part of him wanting to deny that he was handsome but knowing that he had created this particular character to be visually appealing. Instead he simply grumbled without any heat "Innocent traveller my foot..." he would have continued by expanding on the fact that the Lander had practically ravished him in public, however Jac felt his tongue tie in his mouth and his face go absolutely scarlet as he remembered the very passionate kiss that had been the catalyst for their change in relationship status. It seemed he had lost the majority of whatever confidence had been created by the serene state he had been in earlier and now all he could do was try not to ruin this impromptu date by becoming a puddle of nerves.
It wasn't going to be easy.

If I, fall for you
I'll never recover
The lander's grin widened as the short man almost choked on his food. It seemed the thought of meeting his parents seemed far too much for the big strong adventurer who struggled to explain himself. The lander could only watch the shorter man. Ignoring the flush rising up his body, the lander straightens his shoulders and takes a deep breath. You are a cruel heartless person. The thoughts ring through his head as the shorter man squirmed opposite him for a moment too long. Reaching across the table, he takes the sorcerer's hand in his, letting it rest there for a moment. Squeezing the other’s hand in return, Tadashi narrowed his eyes slightly as he watches the other’s face for a moment. "It was a joke," He gave a soft reassuring smile, hoping to comfort the man back into his semi confident state, though he guessed that it would be another while before the sorcerer would take the lead. Darn he is cute when he needs to be.
The lander gave the man a nod before withdrawing his hand, there was a confident aura emitting from him and he knew it and he was also aware of the aura the other man was sending out and a slight smirk played on the lander's lips, his blue eyes studying the sorcerer before him. Closing his eyes for a moment, running his hand through his hair, he shrugged picking up his fork and stuffing another piece of food in his mouth.
"I'll bet your family wasn't happy when you decided you weren't going to take over their business when you could... I know what that's like," The words seemed to ring out and the lander paused for longer than necessary. The sorcerer didn't understand how, but his words were truer than anything else. His parents had not taken lightly to the fact that Tadashi had decided to leave their home town. Not only that but his utter refusal to take over from his father, provide for them seemed entirely selfish on their behalf. They were too old to have another child, too tired to raise another one too and Tadashi's dreams seemed like a stupid selfish idea that wasn't well thought out or even considered.
The two people of the land had raised him, they had watched him grow and taught him all they could. His mother was a house wife as fishing work did not suit her, but she was a good worker and often repaired any damage done to nets and prepared the fish to sell. His father on the other hand was a tough worker and the years of fishing life had been hard on him and although both were determined to work forever, they both knew a time would come when that was no longer possible and Tadashi had always been that answer.
It was never in question at least in their minds that their son would refuse to take up the family business, refuse to continue on a generational habit and even find the idea of sea life a burden. Of course they were well aware of his fondness for adventurers and how he liked to imagine their quests and journeys as a young boy but most lander children were like that and more often than not they grew up understanding that the two races were vastly different and thus always sentenced to go on entirely separate paths. Like most children in his village, Tadashi was taught how to swim and fish by his father from a young age. However Tadashi didn't take the lessons easily and his father was not the most patient teacher, so more often than not the day would end up with a beaten child crying out for an adventurer to take him far away.
Unfortunately that would not happen and eventually Tadashi grew up into a well mannered and respectful young man who it was always planned would marry a local girl and take over his father's business, providing care for his parents once they grew too old to work. So you can believe the shock to the system when the lander boy informed his parents of his secret baking lessons and how he dreamed of opening a shop went with them? His mother said nothing at first and his father quickly tried to shut down the idea with everything he could think of and the resulting fight as inevitable. The lander went to bed with no supper that day feeling selfish for dreaming of a life outside of that small fishing village, dreaming of a life beyond the fishing business, dreaming of a life surrounded by adventurers.
However as the years past and Tadashi grew up, he never lost those dreams or feelings and even continued with his lessons often at night when his parents were asleep at a neighbors house. Tadashi lived a hard life, helping his father during early morning, day and late evening and then giving up valuable sleeping hours to practice his craft. It was a wonder that he managed to do it at all. Eventually however his parents found out about it and that was that. Everything came to blows that night and he could still remember each word his mother and father shouted at him, he could remember the feeling his mother's hand made as it hit his face, the look she wore upon her face as if he had betrayed her. His father had been worse, he was never a patience man.
Their life was never an easy one, they hadn't been poor but they weren't exactly well off and the physical needs of his job had taken a toll on the man and those around him as a result. Tadashi could remember the words he had spat at him, his mother's screams for his father to stop hitting him. That night as he lay on his bed gazing out his window towards the dark night, Tadashi made a decision to change his lip.
Always deep in thought and quiet as a child, daydreaming his parents called it, Tadashi was plagued with bullies and teasing because of his quiet nature, he never let it get to him though, they didn't know what his father was like and he didn't know what theirs were like either. To him as a child the world was infinite, the wonders were limitless and he wanted to see as many as possible, the wonders of creation, the strong and immortal adventurers, the cities they came from. Coming from a poor family background, the lander had never been outside his village, not once in sixteen years, instead he had been put to work. However as he gazed out towards the night sky, he made a decision that changed that.
Under the cover of darkness, his body sore from his father's 'words' he packed what little things he had and left a small note saying goodbye, thanking his parents for all they had given him, apologizing for being a coward, for being selfish and refusing the life they offered to him and explained that he was leaving and it was time they gave up on him.
With a deep breath and an aching body, he ran to the edge of the town, managing to store away aboard a transport caravan unbeknownst to the owners and clutched his belongings close to him. The journey lasted several days and at times he doubt he could make it due to what little food and water he had with him, but eventually and finally the heat and dirt and sea air would be left behind.
Shaking himself off the caravan, he managed to slip away without anyone seeing him. It was important that no one knew where he had gone, if a word or even a rumor had gotten back to his father then he knew that he would arrive to drag him back home and no one would prevent it. Slipping through the shadows, he finally stopped to take in the city of Londinium that stood around him. It was everything that his home town was not, it was large, standing taller than anything he had seen before, the people were alive and happy, the clothes they wore told him that they were not poor as his village had been.
His heart felt heavy and his bag slumped to his side, was it all like this? Why did his parents wish to sentence him to a life of grime and dirt when all this stood within their reach. He brushed his hair back off his face and looked around once more, maybe he was dreaming it. His gaze fell to his hands, they were filthy and smelt awful. He needed to shower, but where would he do that in a city where he had no form of currency, he dared not steal from his parents, he had been selfish enough in running away. He wandered the city for many hours, people shoved him out of the way, his stature would never be able to fight back, he was thin and not even tall.
As the dark sky loomed overhead, the lights of the city sparkled slightly, he trudged on-wards having eaten the last of his food, the only thing he had on him. He shuddered against the cold not expecting it to be this bitter. His mind was on over drive and he couldn't help but sink into despair, what would he do and where would he sleep, he couldn't rent a room, he had no money and it didn't seem like anyone was going to offer him a free place to spend the night.
As vast as the city was, he knew that the only way to get more food was to leave the town's border and search and harvest, however as he moved he knew that it would take him several hours to get to the edge and at night it would be much harder to see monsters approach him and he didn't have any weapons. Wandering for a short period of time, he came across a rather broad shouldered man, he was rough looking, scars marked his face and body and he didn't seem like the ordinary lander.
He wandered for a short while before he crossed paths with a broad shouldered man, he was rough looking, scars down his face and his skin was marked by inks, "20?" he asked, his voice was like broken glass over rocks, swallowing hard the lander looked at the man puzzled. It was rough and painful, the mental scars would heal, so he thought, but he had money now and could afford to eat... However fortune seemed to be turning in his favor, for the man owned a tavern, it wasn't in the best part of the town nor was it anything to be impressed by but he offered the man a job as a bus boy, the money was little and most of it went on paying for a room and he was required to work long hard hours, but he managed to save up enough money to leave that part of town, eventually managing to to gain another job in a slightly better tavern in a more nicer part of londinium.
Tadashi had taken lessons from the other people working there and had gotten a great deal of experience. Eventually he would set up a small stall on the weekends or his days off and sell goods that he had baked to people of the land and adventurers. He did alright, he wasn't a booming business by any means, but he did well enough to be able to turn it into a full time job.
However one morning he served a man without even thinking only once he had given the item to the older man, did he realize it was his father. Apparently Tadashi had served a few merchants who recognized him and eventually told his father of where he was. Being absent from him and the fear of a child running away were enough to change the attitudes of his parents, not completely but at least they understood. After seeing the town first hand, his father understood the allure, but he still didn't forgive his son who had brought shame to his family, ran away and hurt his wife so deeply.
It took quite some time, but eventually they returned to speaking turns. They still weren't perfectly okay and there was quite a lot that was never mentioned but always remained around them. Tadashi hoped that by sending money back each month that it would aid the process but it only seemed to make it worse, as if gloating how much money he could spare each week despite barely making ends meat as a result of it.
It was a hard and long journey for the lander, but here he sat opposite one of the cutest and handsome adventurers he had come across and it all seemed like a distant dream but it was all real. Letting a breath of air pass over his lips he shrugged. His expression is unreadable, but he put his fork down. "Listen." The lander began, his voice soft. "They have come a long way since I told them." He paused. "Telling your parents that you don't want the life that they have is never easy." He let out a sigh. "You don't mean to but in a way you tell them that it isn't good enough, that what they have and what provided your life is not good enough for you, it can be hard." He sighed again. "I don't think people expect that from their children, at least not people of the land." He pursed his lips playing around with his food for a moment, his eyes flickered towards the sorcerer.
"Are all adventurers adventurers?" The question was blunt and abrupt and the lander's eyes stayed focused on the fox tail sitting opposite him. He had always assumed that every adventurer was an adventurer, that was what he always imagined, why would anyone want to be anything other than a strong immortal warrior saving a race of mortals in return for riches and praise. But if the fox tail had experience in refusing his parents, then perhaps adventurers had choices too and despite himself the lander couldn't imagine what adventurers might have to choose between.

The swashbuckler rose up on the tips of her toes, trying unsuccessfully to see over the crowds, looking for some food stands. Finally giving up, the leaned back onto the side of the booth, turning her back to the group. To her surprise, Hirosame was standing alone on the other side of the booth, sipping from his own Coconia beer. Valerie smiled and waved, before turning back to her group of friends. “I just spotted a friend, so I going to go say hi.” She told them and stepped away to greet the monk. Valerie darted through the mass of people wandering around the streets and stopped in front of Hiro. “Hello Hiro.” She greeted with an unusually cheerful smile on her face. Perhaps the alcohol was getting to her or maybe it was the festive atmosphere. The swashbuckler moved around him and settled beside him, leaning on the booth as well. “Are you here only for the beer?” The girl asked, staring pointedly at the alcohol in his hand and took a sip from her own. For Valerie, this was the first time she has been to Stratford and was only here for the local specialty foods. Many people had rambled about the effect of the Coconia fruit and the specialty foods food in Stratford and had sparked interest in the small swashbuckler. She rose back on her toes, hoping to spot some food booth from her new location, and her violet eyes darted around. She spotted a stand that sold the signature Coconia steak and turned to the monk. “Have you tried the steak yet?” Valerie asked, before adding on. “It’s really good.” The scent of meat drifted over and made her mouth water, hungry to have another steak. The swashbuckler could never have too much meat, she loved it too much. Words: 304 OOC: Sorry for posting this twice... I didn't get the gold for the post, so I posted again. (I'm telling the truth)

"Any treasure you obtain without ever having to work for it is no treasure at all."

"I...don't really want to talk about my parents..." Jac stated with a frown as Tadashi's words struck a chord with him, bringing up a reminder of a cold home with nothing but expectations and demands. But he was free from that now, free from the expectations and scorn, free from the neglect and disregard. He didn't have to feel like people around him were simply making do with what they had anymore, and that was indescribably liberating for the young Foxtail. After so many years of putdowns and having his desires disregarded as stupid fantasies he was able to pursue whatever course he wanted. He was a spell slinging immortal being in this world, something as stupid as disapproving parents weren't going to stop him.
He played around with his food for a little bit, no longer hungry at all in the face of the very sobering thoughts of Mother and Father. He managed to avoid thinking of them often, but every so often the feelings of helplessness resurfaced and bombarded him with negative thoughts. Usually this happened right when he was feeling good about himself, which meant this was about right for his emotional issues.
It seemed however that once again Tadashi was going to bring him out of his brooding thoughts with a new question that he had to ponder. Were all adventurers adventurers? He supposed that depended on a certain point of view, and the way that one interpreted the question posed. Technically only Adventurers were Adventurers, but he got the feeling Tadashi didn't mean it that way, but rather every person from their original home.
Scratching at the table briefly he decided to answer with a partial truth, "No, not everyone where we're from were...are...adventurers. Actually it was considered a waste of time by most people, since we were just moving bodies around in a world we couldn't fully experience, and a lot of people thought that was a waste of time that could be used to do other things. We couldn't bring back the things we found, or made, so it didn't benefit society as a whole. And when you don't benefit society you're usually insulted. Pretty much all of us only did it when we had free time, since it couldn't support us in our world. It wasn't until about a year ago that we were able to really come here, and now we can actually experience this world fully." There, let Tadashi make what he would of that, it wasn't untrue but it also didn't fully destroy the mystique of the Adventurers for him.
Tadashi had considered them to be role models growing up, and he didn't want to take that away from the man. He didn't want the Lander to realise that they were just as shitty as anyone else and weren't these fantastic and powerful immortals in their own world. Honestly, despite any of the issues he had experienced here, he was so grateful for the Apocalypse that had left him stuck here. It was a far better life than the one he had before.

Two Bodies, One Mind Hp: 100 Mp:100 Raising her eye brows at the monk's comments, she smiled. "Just keeping company then, so you two aren't..." Her voice trailed off near the end as Shuwen and Ducky both seemed confused as to what she was asking. Letting out a sigh she accepted the offer of food wondering whether the monk was joking about the coconia fruit and if he wasn't were they going to shout out something stupid in a few minutes once they had a piece.
"If you guys are just hanging out and there isn't really nothing going on.." Again she put more emphasis to her words studying the two to see if they were lying to her or not. She didn't see why people would hide their romance but people were sometimes private creatures and homosexual people tended to be even more private especially seeing as they now inhabited a strange land that might not have been as accepting as before, not that their previous world had been the point to reach of acceptance, no that place had a way to go, but still it was better than most places, the cleric figured. "Is it alright if I butt in?" The cleric shifted her gaze from the other cleric to the monk and back again. "I don't feel like such a third wheel now."
Breathing out a sigh of relief, she took a cookie into her hand impressed at how well the monk had managed to make it. "Cheesecake.." The cleric let out a dreamy sigh. It had been one of her favorite desserts and it had been so long since she had even thought of a slice of that creamy dream boat. "I've got the chef and a housekeeper sub classes and I can't seem to bake anything yet." The cleric admitted. "How do you manage it?" She asked inspected the cookie hesitating. She wasn't sure whether she should risk a taste, it was never clear what would be shouted out from coconia fruit.

Words: 313 For some reason, parasole reacted really strangely to his comment. She seemed to have figured out what they were doing, but also seemed to have thought they were doing something else. That said, what exactly she thought they were doing, she didn’t seem to want to say, which was more then a little confusing for him. However, she quickly brushed aside whatever it was and attempted to change the subject, asking if she could join them. “Well, no objections here.” He replied with a shrug. Both Rubber Ducky and Parasole took one of the cookies eagerly, but seemed to have second thoughts about actually eating them. Considering the side effect, Shuwen couldn’t really blame them. Rubber Ducky, however, expressed his preference for a treat of a different sort, one that confused the Monk a bit. Cheese cake? That’s certainly a random request. Unfortunately, it wasn’t something he knew how to make, nor was he particularly interested in doing so, so it looked like Rubber Ducky was out of luck in that regard. Parasole commented on the fact she was also a chef, and was so far unable to make use of them. “I knew how to make a few things back in the real world; not much, and I had to improvise around using a microwave. I needed help with the cookies though. A Lander chef was looking over my shoulder when I made them.” That said, he was pretty close to reaching the limit on how much he could do without further help. He was gonna have to find a better chef if he wanted to get any better at it. If it was just a matter of leveling up the chef subclass, it wouldn’t be an issue, but since he actually had to be a decent cook to make full use of it… he really needed to find help with it soon.
