Hello everyone, Azoth here.
The Subclass Mastery System has its groundwork prepped and it is being driven out as I type this. I have mentioned several of the changes in the recent Site Briefing, but I'm going to use this thread to be more specific.
As you all know, there was a poll that asked if y'all wanted to have the Subclass System be based off a Mastery-Leveling type of deal. 7 people said yes and no one opposed. With that in mind, I created a system where that is now a thing. The Roleplaying Subclasses have been broken down into various Societies. These Societies are Lander-run institutions based in the world of Elder Tale, and with the appearance of Adventurers, they are opening their doors to new faces. These Societies are built upon hard foundations of their beliefs and the subclasses have been divided to match these beliefs.
Each Society in the coming weeks will be given its own buffs, its own Quests, its own backstory, and its own set of NPCs that you will answer to. Depending on your selected Society, you will be allowed to pick a certain Roleplay subclass and begin your adventure as a newbiescrub in the society. Due to the change in the way we run the Roleplay Classes, you are allowed to change your subclass once. The deadline for this change is February 1st. So if you want to change, you better do it fast. If you're on the fence, you better make your choice, fast. I will not have all the information out by the time this deadline comes and if you want to play the excuse "but everything wasn't out yet and I couldn't make an educated decision!" then you will be SOL when February 1st comes around. I will likely also not have every quest available to begin each Subclass, but I will have a good number of them. The expected completion rate is around 60%.
Why did I put out an unfinished product? Well that's for your to whine about and me to move forward with. I want you all to get prepared, mentally, for what you want to do and make your decisions while I continue to put out content. There's a lot of information pouring out of the Staff area right now and we as mods are moving forward with a lot of stuff that's going to hit in February. Events, a bunch of new quests, the profile section being cleared, this Subclass Update, and the Plot. If I wait until everything is done, then we'll be twiddling our thumbs waiting for everyone to switch their subclasses and make their quest choices. By putting out a WIP that's actually pretty much setup as is, you all can make your choices or do your thinking as we work on the fly. I'm not so much for sitting around and staring at a wall as people think and wonder after I've thrown a huge presentation at them. I'm more of the type to present one thing, let you mull over it, and go work on the next thing.
DO NOTE: Changing your Subclass will reset any potential progress. In addition; you are not allowed to use your RP Subclass until you complete the beginner quest. If you are caught doing so, you will forfeit the rewards of the quest you used it in.
The Societies will be getting their own specific treatment and a lot of the Quests will encompass all of the Subclasses. So if a Society puts out a quest, it will likely call on at least one or two of the subclasses so don't worry too much about your pick. My suggestion would be to first decide on a society, and then pick a Subclass based on the society you like. The Subclasses may get changed in the coming weeks as well, so again; Pick the Society and then the Subclass. If a subclass gets a revamp, I may allow people to switch but I also may not. So be wise about your choices!

EDIT: Incoming with this update is also an AP/SP tracking system. That's being worked on, so yes, it is not out yet. Don't go looking for it.
