The miasma was beginning to take control, warp his mind. Every move he made he felt it coursing ever stronger through his form. It was extacy, but at the same time it was painful. All he could begin to feel was a drowning. His vision seemed to grow distant, as though he were lost inside himself, his eyes little more than distant windows in the crashing turmoil within himself. He drifted off and began to black out. ~ Noctis cracked his neck as he awoke in the body. It was about time honestly, he was getting a little cramped locked up in his own body's mind. The fool who he "shared" with had little idea the full potential of the powers he had been attempting to control. In time, he would learn that the miasma was not a force to be controlled. You do little to control its torrent, you merely let it come through you and manifest, you can do as much to control it as one could a natural disaster. He did like his style however, this suit did look nice. Personally he preferred his robes, but he would let it slide this time. He quickly surveyed the field. A giant crab-man, a few nightmare denizens. Kane had done well with his management of corruption for an initiate of the dark arts. But this would never do. It was too unbalanced. The glory of the miasma should be shared. Noctis used the miasma appendage to burst the bubble and took the slight damage from the fall. He quickly shot out the appendage in an attempt to grab and pull the girl to his location and out of the way of the barreling crab. As she landed, he cast Lying darkness at their location, giving them both 10 more corruption. The crab would need to stop for a moment as well. Noctis raised a hand and the obsidian and violet chains of Shackles of the Sentenced burst up around Brachyura, rooting him to the spot. It wouldn't be much, but it would give them both a second. He quickly threw up Madness Trance around both him and the Shrine Maiden. Because of Patient zero, he would maintain his corruption stage, but their points would be evenly distributed between them both, giving noctis 49 and her 50, throwing her into Stage 3 corruption. His voice came across, this one different than the one that had come before. It was a dark voice, but it was regal and had hints of madness, but also knowledge and a faint tinge of kindness within it. " I appologize for the hell you are about to experience, but it is necessary. You may find that you gain a few temporary powers as this darkness temporarilly imbues itself into you. I will relieve you of it once we finish, but for now, I wish you take advantage of its power." He concentrated, throwing up his hands. One summoned a giant black orb that would empower their magic, Mitochondrial Miasma. The other, spread out a thick layer of black mist, covering the battlefield. Wicked Promoter. It would give them all some of his own knowledge and abilities to use. But if they could pull this off, It would be for the best. He thrust out his right arm, The miasma congealing into a large battleaxe of a design solely to kill and tear enemies asunder. His left hand cast Oblivion Claw onto his partner's weapon, embuing it with the power to corrupt whatever it struck next. Things were about to get interesting. The last part would be the trickiest. He would need to channel mana through it in order to make it take upon its illusory form.
He wasn't sure that his concentration would be enough to hold onto the image long enough. He didn't want to go to far and accidentally ruin his work. He decided in the end to look upon some texts, finding in one of them a pennable magic circle that would help with the transmutation process of a weapon. Deciding to give it a try, he gathered up a piece of charcoal from the nearby furnace, and draw the circle upon the table. It was a little complex, but by the end of it, he was pretty sure he had transcribed it almost exactly as it was within the text. Placing the book in the middle and his hands to the side, he focused his mana to follow the lines, bringing the image of the book into his mind.
He began trying to think of it as incorporeal. Existing, but able to change form. He began to hold this idea of the book overwriting the physical structure of whatever item the person was holding. It was a complex idea, and at first it was difficult to grasp. Over time, he began to change the way he was thinking about it. It wasn't changing the item, it was just changing its physical form. It was a container for the essence of the item, nothing more, nothing less. It would have its own look, but it would simply be a change of appearance. Like a potion, it was an effect, not an absolute.
After meditating on this for a while, the mana began to coalesce upon the book, becoming enveloped in a black and dark violet light as it assumed its new form. Upon opening his eyes, Kane beheld the creation that came from his labor. The book sat, seemingly giving off a faint whisper, and almost seeming to suck the light out from around it. As he picked it up, it felt both cold like leather, but warm like life. It was strange, it was slightly eerie, it was beautiful.
Opening up its info gave him a positive result:
The Tome of the Mad Arab [Lvl 1 Vanity Weapon] The book seems to know more than it should, and extreme caution should be taken, lest ye wake the unknown darkness that lies within, for that is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die. As you flip through its pages, it seems to hold more than it physically should.
This would look lovely within a library, he decided, and made his way off to complete his delivery.

The next portion would be trickier. The paper he would inscribe the inner workings upon was old papyrus. It had a unique texture, and to be honest, he wasn't too sure that it was only papyrus when he bought it from the man. Either way, it would do nicely.
He began transcribing upon the pages various dark rituals, rites, and summoning, taking great care to include pictures and plenty of detail as the circuits completed themselves. Most of the rituals were fake however, almost all of it copied from Kane's almost uncanny memory when it came to the works of the specific author, but nonetheless, the cosmic horror presented itself all the same. Elder gods, ancient evils and all sorts of maddening, unknowable knowledge were transferred down into the pages of the tome. It almost felt at times that he was no longer the one writing it, but the miasma itself and the chaos of his subject matter were bringing itself into existence upon the forgotten pages that lay before him.
As he neared the completion of his work, He wrote a little forward for the recipient. He didn't know if she would open it, but it would serve as a marker of his craftsmanship, as well as expression of his thanks. It was the Title page that really through it all together though. Upon it in Bold, ancient glyphs bore the words of the author, and the name of the madman:
NECRONOMICON
Abdul Alhazred
He then took them and tied them up in order, as to not let them run away as he bound the plates within their leather. It was an interesting choice really, Tanned zombie flesh. It was surprising how these materials just seem to make themselves up. He took the leather sheets, having stitched them up before they were tanned to give the impression of the horrid nature of the book. he stretched and fastened the dark plates with their complementing bindings, stretching taut over each piece as though they were made for each other. He sowed and bound the cover before untying the pages, binding them, and then fastening them to their cover. He even threw in some wonderfully chaotic black-and-red marbled paper that seemed to almost carry some of its own cursed imagery.
As it came together, be fastened in a simple, crimson silk bookmark, and bound it in a matching aged black leather, gilding it and accenting it around the edges. Upon the spine, Kane printed out the words of the author and title, embeding them in the spine with a rather tasteful gold ink that, unless viewed at a specific angle, wasn't even visible. Finally, he attached a black leather with simple square silver clasp to the front, to give it that classic grimoire look.

Kane had a rather strange sense of humor. His jokes were usually well thought out, and often required thinking on the part of the recipient as well to fully grasp the humor that lied within. Some may call it aloof, some may call it bland. He just thought that many simply did not appreciate intellectually stimulating humor like he did. And it was this appreciation for the art that led him to his current situation.
It would be a vanity weapon. It would take someone who knew literature to appreciate its...Special Taste. But he figured the recipient was well acquainted enough to at least get the reference. He would have to be careful with his materials, some of them weren't super easy to come by in this world. He pulled out the basic cover itself first. It wasn't covered yet, just the basic pieces that would become the inner workings of the binding: A couple old bone plates. It took him hours of digging to uncover these things, and even longer to find the right tools to cut them into the right size.
He began his work slowly. Taking out a small chisel-like scoop, about the size of a pen, he began to crudely but carefully write down ancient runes and spell circles into the bonework, decorating the plates with the circuits of dark magic. As he finished, he pulled out his quill, dipping it in his ink, and focusing just a small amount of his own channeled miasma into it as he traced the holes, putting a fine layer of the black ichor upon the eldritch constructs.
The binding's spine would be special. Not only was it cut and shaped from an actual fused spine, but he had carved three special glyphs into it. At the highest point sat the Sigil of the Gate, the middle held Yggdrasil, and the bottom held the inscription of the Spheres of Quiphloph. He penned in each one carefully, again applying his own unique brand of craftsmanship within the ink, and flowing a test run of his energy through the pieces before setting them aside to dry.

Kane decided that he should at least prepare himself for his craft. He didn't plan to do a whole lot of crafting, but it may pay off to just be prepared. Who knows, he may get into it eventually.
He decided to go off to the market place, looking for a suitable feather to use as his quill. There were many good choices: Pheonix down, peacock feathers, Giant eagle Feathers. In the end it was the simple one that caught his eye, a fresh raven feather. He negotiated a small price from the salesman before making his way back over to his station. Setting it down in front of him, he pulled up the crafting instructions. in order to make the quill he would have to channel mana into it. Seemed simple enough. He was of the mage persuasion after all, so channeling mana wasn't something that was too hard for him to do.
He carefully picked up the feather, holding it in his hands like a small animal before taking a few breaths and clearing his mind. It was similar to meditation really, but the plus side was he could actually feel the energy flowing through him as he performed the minor rite. Slowly, the energy began to build in the palm of his hands, materializing as a small glowing orb surrounding the feather. As it neared a high enough concentration, he imagined the mana binding to the feather, forming the tool of his trade. Sure enough, his mana combined with the quill, slowly congealing and absorbing into the feather.
As he opened his eyes, the display showed him a small 'Success' screen over the now slightly glowing feather that lay in his hands. With this, he could begin his craft.

Music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj5pk6uZ0m0Kane was already upset at the little fairy telling him to just sit back and watch. He could damn well handle himself, and planned to prove it. He focused for a moment upon the miasma, casting Abyssal Contract. Immediately his hair grew dark, the purple highlights beginning to pulse as the miasma fused with his body. His skin grew pale, and the black bags under his eyes grew more pronounced. He could feel its power beginning to manifest within him. Yes, that's it. Embrace the darkness within.A sickening smile crept wide across his face, The miasma beginning to become one with him. As his corruption rose, triggering Miasma Appendage, causing A massive demonic tail sprouted out from his form, looking almost as twisted as its master's patchwork form. For once Kane agreed with Noctis. As the giant Crab began its tirade, Kane grinned wildly at the threat of the attack, The wave forming in front of him, barreling towards both him and his companion. Dodging would be next to impossible. He chuckled though, focusing more on the miasma that began to course through his body. He felt it within him, powering him. " Patient Zero." Immediately, the miasma began to leak out of the stitches and runes that covered his body, seeming to escape from whatever hole they could. His body would be a vessel for the Miasma. He would become its very Avatar on this plane. Suddenly, Neomorphism activated, triggering Doomclad Wings and Pulsating Core to materialize. Two black-and-red pulsating wings sprouted from his back. He jumped, using the wings to get up over the wave and hover long enough to avoid the attack. He smiled again as he descended back to the ground, a red crystal beginning to form on his chest, and his blood vessels beginning to rhythmically glow and pulse with it. " You see, I can handle myself more than you realize. I have friends in strange places. In fact yo might even say," He threw up his hand, Summoning forth 5 Nightmare Denizens. Demonic looking shadow beings rose out of the ground, forming from the very misasma that emanated from his emaciated form. " I have friends on the other side." The Shadows stared in the crabs direction, letting out blood curling screams as they began to charge towards it. His smile grew wider as they charged, and he twisted his hand and pointed at the crab. The miasma once again began forcing its way through his stitching, but this time, taking the form of locusts. As they crawled out of the man's stitched up flesh, they formed a cloud and swarmed towards the crab. The miasma continued to leak out of his form in dark pillars as the swarm made its way forward. " Smokin'." Tags: @royah HirosameNotes: Art thou feeling it now, Mr. Krabs?

As the light cleared, Kane felt much stronger. As he glanced up, out of the corner of his eye he saw his interface. In the corner where the level was, there was a glowing 90 where his level should be, and a tiny buff icon: Pebble of Philosophy: Temp Level Boost Well that was definitely new. As was the person he saw standing at the edge of the room. A purple-haired female samurai by the looks of it. She didn't seem to notice him yet though, and he raised his hand slowly and smiled as he made a small wave in her direction. Suddenly, the crystal began glowing again, and a chill ran down Kane's spine. There was suddenly the sound of bubbles behind him, coming from the fountain, and definitely increasing in speed. Then came the sound of rushing water as what Kane could only assume something large began emerging from it. He grew nervous, as he slowly turned his head around to look in fear at what was now behind him. A Giant Crab-Man. Kane jumped up, pocketed the stone and began booking it to the edge of the map. His place was NOT the front lines, and was definitely not next to the scary giant Crab-monster. Tags: Hirosame @royah Notes: A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES! FIGHT! He rose from the dust, coughing as the pebbles and rocks that covered him fell off. It hadn't really hurt, but it was definitely disorienting. He stood up slowly, using the crumbled wall near him as support as he made his way to his feet. He glanced around him. He definitely caused some major damage to the room. Holes and cracks now decorated the room like a Jackson Pollock painting. He had even managed to dismember a few of the statues and behead another.
He felt bad for destroying the art, but was soon overtaken in joy as he saw behind the statue he destroyed a large, immaculate room, upon which held in the center a massive ornate fountain.
This was without a doubt what he had come here for.
Kane made his way up to the fountain slowly, glancing into its depths. It sat there, as clear as glass, and at the bottom sat a strange stone that glowed. It almost seemed to beckon to him. As he sat there staring at it, It glowed like a tiny star, misplaced from the heavens, and placed into this pool.
He looked at his own hand. He had, almost instinctively began reaching for the stone. He brought his hand back to his side slowly before pondering his situation. He could definitely get it. It was deep, but he could definitely get it. Taking a deep breath, he dove into the pool.
It was much deeper than he had originally thought. As he reached the pebble, he found himself running low on air. He picked it up, its shimmering form beckoning thoughts to him.
He thrust his feet against the bottom of the pool and quickly rose to the surface, gasping for breath, and swimming for the side of the fountain. Upon reaching it, he pulled himself up over the edge and took a seat.
After catching his breath, he opened his hand, staring into the pebble. He seemed to almost stare infinitely into it, being swallowed by its light. It showed him all sorts of pictures.
They seemed to be almost real though. They seemed almost to be memories, he didn't know of what though. He saw strange rituals, people playing, daily lives of people he could only assume long deseased. He also saw Fellow Heretics, performing rites, spells and other acts he didn't even know were possible. Knowledge seemed to flow into his mind, at an almost ever increasing rate. He began to loose track of it all. It stormed in, faster and faster, almost overwealming his senses.
And then, A bright light.

Upon reaching the isle, Kane realized just how big of an undertaking this was about to be. The isle was massive, at least the size of a small town, and the buildings that lied on it were nothing but inhospitable ruins. He sighed, getting out of the boat onto solid land. Getting up, he stretched his arms and back, cracking multiple stiff joints from the boat ride, dusting off his suit, straightening his tie, and putting back on his hat.
His progress was slow through the ruins, but not without its merits. He took his time analyzing the various architecture points, moldings, various old statues now crumbling upon the ground.
"Look on my works, Ye mighty, and despair..." He mumbled to himself. The isolation of the area, the storm, the very mana all felt wrong. It was almost as if he was gaining corruption just by being here. Noctis began tugging at the back of his mind.
Yes, Despair. Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust. All is fair on the devil's playing field, right Kane?
Shut it. I'm in control.
For now, but we both can feel it. The darkness in the air, The very taint of death.
Shut up.
His mind became clouded. Indeed, this place felt cold as the grave. He began pondering it actually. So much death, and yet so little graves. Indeed, the isle was bare of life.
He kept walking, making his way around the maze-like ruins. It was when he came to a strange atrium full of ruined statues that He began hearing Noctis whisper, louder and louder in the back of his mind. The voice seemed to echo, coming from everywhere, yet nowhere, the broken statues taking on the demonic visage of his character.
You're going crazy Kane.
Coo-Coo
They'll be coming to take you away soon
Only a matter of time.
Its only you and me, and we're one in the same.
Tick-Tock
We're nothing but a couple of demons.
It began to get to him. He yelled out at the top of his lungs, lashing out and firing mana blasts with his grimoire at the voice. Stone dust filled the room he stood in, cracks forming in the already treacherous ruins. As it all settled, he stood in the center panting heavily.
After a few seconds, he actually managed to calm down. Then there was the creaking behind him of buckling rock. He turned around to see one of the statues beginning to topple over right towards him. He quickly tried to jump out of the way, rolling on the ground as the marble structure came crashing down, launching chunks of rock in all directions.

Kane nodded as the tiny Necromancer regarded him. " I think I'm all good to go, and I don't think there's anything around that we should be worried about. That being said, Let's get this show on the road, shall we?" As he said the last little bit, he clapped his hands together, and activated his Mana Sense. At first he recoiled a bit. The earth mana itself began to throw in a lot of interference. He began to try and concentrate on reducing the overpowering mana sources. First, just the rocks. they wouldn't need them and they were supplying the majority of the interference. Then came the iron and basic ore metals. It took a bit longer but soon enough, they were just light white fuzz on the back of his mind. All that was left was a few nodes of strange ore, deep within the system. " Alright, I'm getting something. We got a few nodes deep within that I don't recognize as basic metals or mana sources. Should be interesting. Lets get going." He assumed his position in the formation and proceeded to guide the group down into the bowels of Gaia. Tags: Franny SteinNotes: All aboard the HYPE TRAIN!

Kane was a little bit nervous as he approached the boats to reach the Isle. It stood of the coast, surrounded by stormclouds, and leaving a feeling of ominous dread after he saw it.
It was terrifying and exhilarating at the same time honestly. He shivered a little bit, the thought of horrors and unknown knowledge sending goosebumps down his back. He was honestly looking forward to how this would play out.
He slowly made his way down the pier, the cool sea breeze tossing around his beadhead hair. He had decided to pocket his hat for now. It looked cool, but he didn't want to risk loosing it on this little escapade. The dockworkers were kind enough. Many beared resemblance in dress to the Messier Sage, possibly from the same order. Kane wondered how he had never heard of this order before. They seemed to have quite a bit of influence with the people of the land. The boats weren't big mind you; they were rather simple in construction and design, their purpose to carry a small party of adventurers to the island and survive the journey, and then get them back. But the fact that the Landers would even consider lending them their boats let alone take them anywhere near that Isle was a whole 'nother thing entirely.
As he approached his boat, he sat down. making himself comfortable and going through his things to make sure he was all set for this rather strange new area.

Kane nodded, listening to her as they approached. He was definitely glad that she at least had a plan, but he had to admit, he wasn't sure how it would turn out. Slimes were usually harmless enough in games, usually dealing only minor damage or, at their worse, taking more out on the durability of an item more than actual damage to a player. None-the-less it would be best that they take it with a bit of caution. He wasn't too sure himself the layout of the caves, and even if he were to try and sense light mana, it would more than likely just point him straight up rather than point him in a direction out. As they neared the caves the cart came to a slow halt. Kane jumped out of the back and put back on his hat before turning around and offering a hand to help the necromancer out. Manners first after all. He made his way up to the mouth of the cave, rather laid back and hands in his pockets. It was definitely something. Old mining equipment lay strewn about, some things forgotten, others left on purpose. He found some minecarts and tracks and called back to the necromancer in a half joking matter; " Watch out Short-Round, Might find some Thugee Cultists down here." He made his way back over to the necromancer who, he believed was summoning her minions to help escort them. He snuck up on her and in a joking, light carefull method placed his hands on her shoulders and shook her a little bit. " KALI-MA. KALI-MAAAAAAAAAA!" Kane made his way back to the Sage, the Restored Cuneiform in hand. "Here's your tablet pieces," He said, presenting the fragments to the being clad in the night. Deftly, the robed figure sat and assembled the pieces until a single picture stood out; a marvelous and seemingly gigantic fountain.
"This is the fountain the Ultima Thule," he exclaims, in a rather unexpected amount of amazement and disbelief. "It lies off of the coast on the Isle of Thule. Until recently, the entire island has been surrounded by massive storms that have rendered passage impossible. Either this is a stroke of luck, or a terrible omen of what is to come."
Kane eyed the Sage. He seemed genuinely in shock, or at least, as genuine as he could under those robes. Kane wasn't really sure himself. He didn't believe too much in omens, but he did believe that whatever lied ahead he would definitely need to be prepared. He gathered up his things and departed from the Messier Sage. He better get going, Whatever it was didn't sound like the kind of thing that should be allowed to continue gathering up its energy.

Kane just ended up leaning back against the cart as he let out a breath. " I suppose I don't know. I'd love to get back home, but the more time I spend in here, the more I get accostomed to it. I have to admit, Going back would be a struggle, and I don't really have any plans here either. I guess for the moment my only plan is to see how far down this road takes me." He gave a light chuckle. His laid back nature came off to some as just laziness or procrastination, but in many a sense, it was much more a feeling of ease with himself and his position. Sometimes you get dealt a good hand, sometimes a bad hand, and sometimes just a wierd hand. No matter what though, he figured the best he could do would be to just go with it and see where they took him. Tags: Franny SteinNotes: I figure now would be a good time to transition. He was pretty sure he wasn't the only one, but it was his own discomfort that led to his planning. He decided to create a bunch of fliers and post them around Londonium, maybe a few Mythic Scripts as well, advertising his plans. "Do You Want Some Relaxation? Looking For A Fun Time? A trip down to the river may be what you need! A Cabin and Inner tubes will be provided! Location will be along the beautiful Avon River! Contact Noctis Corvo for details!" He figured that would do it, and spread them out and about the area before heading off to secure all the food, drinks, tubes and a cabin that would be needed for the trip. Notes: Open to all! Consider it like a beach trip OVA starring our characters. Figure it might be fun! :D

He climbed out of his hole, pocketing the cuneiform tablet. He would need to have it restored if he ever even hoped of understanding any of the text inscribed upon it. He contemplated for a second. There was a town nearby, and he should be able to start there. He turned around once more, and stared at the current of the Thebes River. One day soon, he would have to come back here for a vacation. Maybe he could gather some friends and show them the good time that could be had out floating the river. It was a bit of a country thing to do, but not like there was a whole lot to do anyway. He would have to try and find an artisan or something to make the inner tubes...
Focus. It would have to be later. For now, he would need to go and find a person to restore the tablet.
But soon.
Soon.

Sure enough, the mana concentration was highest right at the edge of the surf. As Kane neared it, the dowsing rod began to glow rather heavily. In his excitement, he began to rapidly dig through the sand with his hands.
It took a while, the hole ending up about half a meter deep before he found the ruined tablet. He dusted it off, putting the dowsing rod away. His fingers ran within each indention of the cuneiform lettering, digging out any residual sand. It was beautiful in a strange, ancient sort of way. It was almost trancelike the state he found himself in as he sat there, trying to deduce meaning from lettering even he didn't understand.
What struck him off the most was the pure amount of energy that lay within the tablet. It was almost giving him a headache the level at which it radiated its strange mana. He couldn't decipher that either. This tablet...it held so many mysteries, and simply gave him even more questions than answers. Whatever it was, it was definitely important. He could only wonder what the sage could possibly want with such an artifact.

music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLsCR2RMBakAny other day, this would have been a vacation for Kane. He loved going to the river, getting a bunch of inner-tubes, hooking 'em all up and taking a day just floating down a river with a cooler of snacks and drinks... He got tired just thinking about it, and had to shake his head just to clear up his mind and get himself back on task. He was here for work, and that means he had to find this tablet piece. He let out a huge sigh, looking longingly at the river one last time before pulling out the dowsing rod and beginning to slowly make his way around the beach. He was sure he looked strange. A tall man, stitched and scared up, dressed none-the-less in a black, pinstripe mafioso suit, slowly panning the beach like a bum with a metal detector. Sure this wand was helpful, but its glow would grow and fade at a small rate, so it was still as much of a guessing game as it was a hunt. He was really starting to get confused. If only there was some way to get a more accurate read on this thing. Oh. Wait. He struck his face with his palm to create a loud thwacking sound. Of course there was an easier way! He was a Sage for crying out loud! he could just get a read of the mana from within the dowsing rod and then use it to guide his Mana Sense ability, and then he could literally just FEEL out where the nearest tablet piece was. He focused on the wand, running his hands along it, focusing on reading its power. It was an old power, but still strong. It was definitely unique. He found it rather hard to describe though. It had a sort of static feeling to it, and left some wierd tastes in his mouth. Saltwater, rock, cold, and crab? He didn't know what was up with the last one, but he focused on these feelings, letting the wand's energy to flow through him and act as a catalyst for his ability. It built up, slowly at first, but then it all clicked. he could feel the mana about him. There were a few concentrations around him, one of which was very close, towards the shoreline itself, buried under the current. He quickly ran up, and made his way towards the feeling in his gut.
