UPDATE: group size for the dungeon is recommended to be about 4 at a time with 2 males and 2 females per group. It is up to the individual groups discretion the ratio of males to females and who they want in their group. Have fun picking your teams. Burnhounds vs Shockodiles commence

Let it be recorded for all of time, Dungeon option is the final plan. Timeline shall be rendered accordingly, and span of the timeframe shall be reduced to match the lowered span of the event.

I'm glad about getting all of the replies actually about this, so allow me to address some of the issues brought up: As far as it being catastrophe Mk II, I agree after some afterthought that it might be too overpowered to say everyone is effected. Possibly a good compromise would be that only Adventurers are effected by the wave/glitch/thing, but if anything, it would only be because there is the possibility that this may coincide with an event on one of the first rides of the train system ( Hirosame I'm looking at you for a response). other than that, that is the only reason as to the scope of the event. If Hiro says yes, effect range will probably stay as is. If the opposite, then I will probably link it to just the dungeon itself. As far as giving a period of time in which the event is in effect, I don't quite see any problems with it (would love to discuss that a bit more in-depth though so I can get a better handle on the concerns). The primary reason for the time period though, is to give people a small window in which if they want to take a break from the constant edgy, serious nature of the world, they can always liquid time it back to that time period and have a little more comedy/fun. I do however see the concerns of how "that would mean that at some point everyone got genderbent for a week cannon-ly", so I am willing to discuss it, like I said earlier to being limited to the dungeon in some way, form or fashion, but leave the dungeon in a way that others could still enter it and have their own little genderbending fun-time (similar to a specific cave holding a specific sword from a specific anime). Anyway, this is still an idea/work-in-progress so I would like to get as much feedback as to what would make everyone the happiest as far as a general timeline/set for the events that would ensue. Thanks for all of the responses so far!

Kain didn't really know what to think about his recent decision to join a guild. He had never really been super active in any before in his life, and didn't really do much with them. He always seemed to just lurk throughout them, taking a little bit of the experience bonuses as he soloed through his game. But this time it felt different somehow. He felt a part of something, and the guild hall was certainly something. It had an incredible sense of scale, and was deffinitely a beautiful piece of architecture. He wandered about the hallways for a while before finding a nice secluded corner. There was a beautiful stain-glass window with a large windowsill, just large enough to sit on comfortably. He got up on it, slouching in the warm embrace of the colored sunlight that leaked through the panes. He let his eyes drift over the scene through the window, all of the people running around having a good time. It was a beautiful day, but he wanted nothing more to relax on such a fine day, especially after some of his more recent adventures. He pulled over a small table and set down a warm cup of tea that he had gotten earlier on it, before settling back into his spot. He pulled out a book he had recently gotten from the library, and proceeded to let his eyes run along the page, and his mind wander within the world that existed upon the pages of the tome. Tags: BailinNote: Others within the guild are welcome to post and drop in and out as necessary, its as open as a normal day would be between people.

Hello all,
This is more of a place where I'm going to outline the events of a sort of mini-event/social thing that spawned a bit from the c-box over the span of the last month. Essentially what this will be is a multi-stage social event which will involve all participants characters getting genderbent and having to deal with life and some of the misadventures that would accrue during the time while everyone tries to get things to go back to normal.
It wouldn't neccessarially be required for everyone to participate, as the event will take place (thanks to liquid time) over the course of an in-game week. That way, it leaves time for things to happen or if anyone wants to go back and make something happen in the timeframe there is an option for it. Think of it as an OVA sort of thing. The beginning of the timeframe will actually be sometime around the opening day of the Train system, with the actual genderbending taking place at the time of the opening ceremony of the trains. the outline will tentatively go as follows:
Day 1: The Expedition
A group will depart to a recently uncovered dungeon that has appeared off of the thames coastline in order to explore and see if there are any interesting things to find within it, stumbling through more treacherous location and traps than anything else (monster attacks will most likely to be placed at a minimum). they will eventually all arrive at an antechamber that contains a mysterious disk with an inscription. upon removing it and reading the text inscribed, a strange wavelength of an unknown magic is cast out from the disc, pulsing to assumedly cover all of the planet. All characters suddenly undergo a complete genderchange, including such aspects as voice. They will maintain their personallity however, and no matter how much they try to change back, it will not work, possibly also resulting in the breaking of the artifact.
The wavelength would simultaneously pulse across the entire world and effect everyone on the server. general calamity may ensue.
Later it would be divulged that the artifact from the new dungeon was responsible for the event, and so far all attempts to reverse the effects or understand the artifact by the raid team have proven useless. A team shall be assembled to attempt to understand the artifact and harness some sort of understanding of its mechanics in order to turn everyone back. until then, everyone is told to just try and go about their daily lives while the researchers work diligently to uncover the mysteries of the artifact.
Time goes by, lives go on as the research team would work to understand it. after many failures and a long week of attempts, they make a breakthrough and figure out how it shall work to turn everyone back. Upon completion of the event, all who were affected are turned to normal.
As far as ideas for the event, or monitoring interest of the various goings-on shall be discussed here. Thanks for reading!
UPDATE: Timeline and span of the event is being altered at majority and moderator request. Event shall now be localized to the dungeon and timeframe will now be reduced to match the smaller scope of the event. As such, this shall now be a dungeon that is repeatable, but participants will be upheld to some minor narrativist rules.
First time through the dungeon:
1) upon entering the dungeon, a trap shall be immediately triggered sealing in the participants. This trap will also activate a magic wavelength that will cause the gender-bending buff to activate. -no amount of fiddling with attempts to remove the debuff will work to remove the genderbending buff. it will stay active until the dungeon is cleared.
2) At least one full day/night cycle must be held within the dungeon. This is merely for plot development related reasons, and can be altered to be extended for as long/short as your group wishes
3) NO SOLO-ING THIS DUNGEON. It is meant to be a social event, and as such, any expedtions into the dungeon must contain at least 3 members with the party composed of members of both of the genders.
4) This dungeon is a large underground complex, but it also defies the natural sense of what it should be. It seems to have almost a mind of its own throughout its massive complex of sprawling hallways, and no map can be made to accurately determine its routes. Each instance shall be different, and many of its rooms nonsensical. You may encounter everything from a hotel, to a city street, to a mall, to a bath-house. The possibilities shall remain endless.
5) While the majority of things you will encounter will be traps and such, monsters are not overruled to be created/implemented at the party's own discression. Keep in mind also that this is a social dungeon, and as such, mana monitoring, hp monitoring, and debuffs of possibly a "stranger nature" shall be allowed. the only rule with them shall be to follow a more Narrativist playstyle, and to keep things fun, but probable. You cant just one-shot everything, you have to let yourself fall into some traps for the sake of hilarity or storytelling etc etc.
6) Other than the rest, just have fun with the ensuing calamity!
As far as further trips back into the dungeon, the rules will be slightly altered depending on what the goal of the dungeon crawl is. I will update with those once some people have actually made it through.
Cheers, and enjoy!

The kobalds weren't too much of a surprise honestly. He should have sniped the one that Fletcher had scared off at the end of the last encounter. It sounded cruel, but with these monsters, a Scorched Earth policy was the only true way to go. As the first two kobalds jumped out in front of them, he began charging up Miasma bullet, preparing to eliminate at least one of the minor threats. Then the three jumped out from behind them. He had to give them a little credit actually, they had gotten smarter. But it still wasn't smart enough. He was glad he had picked up the Spellwalking skill recently, as he switched his target in the last portion of his charge to one of the new kobalds, and made his way towards the middle of the now forming circle. It was slow, his pace only currently at max a nice walk, but it was still progress as opposed to his inability to move at lower levels. The miasma bullet cracked out of its charging position and ripped through the kobald, quickly reducing it to a quickly rising spout of bubbles. He supposed the tailor was right, calling him a glass cannon. But if that's the role he was playing, he would definitely blast whatever he was pointed at to smithereens. He charged up another miasma bullet, and eliminated the other kobald that had yet to be engaged. Tags: Fletcher

By the time Kain had finished arguing with Noctis, the group had already managed to open the door. Great, he mumbled in his head at Noctis, Now I just look like a lazy arse-hole. He could feel Noctis mentally shrug in the far corners of his mind, not seeming to care. He made his way forward with a small sigh as the group proceeded onwards through the corridors. He had noticed that while the others proceeded, Capsule was nowhere to be found. He considered contacting her on telepathy, but decided to hold off. He knew his former teacher enough to know she'd never truly be alone, what with her forest friends always a beck and call away, and decided he would hold off. She could definitely hold her own, and he would just give her a call if they found anything of note. Meanwhile at the area at hand, the group made their way through a ruined courtyard to another split pathway. To the left there was a lab and a further corridor, to their right, another room. While Fletcher and Sayha went left to explore the lab further, Nisha had decided to run off to the right. It would be a bad idea to leave two members of the group by themselves, and he may have not had the best first impression with Nisha, but he figured someone had better go with her. He quickly walked up behind Fletcher and placed a hand quickly on his shoulder, triggering the skill Eye for an Eye, placing its sigil on Fletcher's forehead. The dwarf's short hairstyle would help him see anything that the dwarf might run into, should they need to get the information across quickly. He followed the foxtail towards the right. She seemed to be rather focused on moving forward, and seemed to run straight up to the ruined door, seemingly inspecting it for a way through. While she dealt with that, Kain decided he would look around for anything of use within the room, whether it be lore or some sort of tool that might be useful later. Kane votes 4. Investigate the other side of the room in the right corridor. tags: Hirosame

Noctis regarded the strange statue with an obvious curiosity. He didn't know exactly what to do with it, but it definitely held his interest. He slowly walked in between the skeletal familiars as they began gathering the strange ore, placing a hand against the statue. He could feel the energy coursing within it. He didn't have any idea whatsoever what possibilities could be contained by such a strange construct. The flowers, he could manipulate to a small extent. The display of power with the one he had placed in the necromancer's hair was rather small. But to effect all of them as they were connected, or to modify the nature of the statue itself? He didn't even know where to begin. Instead he looked at the flowers at his feet, bending down and observing one as it ate another small slime. It seemed healthy enough. He should, at the very least, take one of the strange plants with him, see if he could possibly research it further. He scooped up the plant, along with a tuft of the strange, black mass it was growing out of, and saved it within his inventory. Perhaps he could find a gardener to help him reproduce them. He could at least send out the research for that. As far as the statue goes, he would need to do some major research into the nature of it before he began trying to alter it. "For now, Ill leave it. I need to do more research before just blindly doing something to it. We don't know enough, and if it turns out to be something we cant handle on our own, we will be in a definite amount of trouble." After taking up his prize, he walked back over to the necromancer, letting out a soft quote into her ear as he made his way back towards the entrance to the antechamber: "They walk unseen and foul in lonely places where the Words have been spoken and the Rites howled through at their Seasons. The wind gibbers with Their voices, and the earth mutters with Their consciousness." He stopped at the entrance, his suit leaving him barely visible at the edges between her magelight and the eternal darkness of the caves. All that could be seen as he turned his head slightly back in her direction was the faint glint of his teeth beneath the stitching at the edge of his smirk-curled lips. "Ready when you are, my little Santa Muerte." Tags: Franny Stein

This is just an idea, but what if we actually did an IC creation of a committee dedicated to research and stuff? It could work similar to a guild, but it would be much less formal, and much more a public membership sort of thing? that way no matter your previous or current affiliations with guilds and whatnot, we could have this as a sort of intellectual group dedicated to just researching possibilities of mixing not only crafting, but possibly roleplay classes and possibly, to an extent, even main classes. I know personally I've even had ideas of experimenting with the effects that the heretic's miasma corruption might have upon the skills or abilities of other classes (corruption seems to play a big role later in the game for modifying the heretic's playstyle, and many of his late game abilities depend on various levels of it, making me think that it may have similar effects upon other classes). Anyway, if others would be interested, we could start this committee at any point and begin research.
(EDIT: I'm aware that this is probably restating the entire process of events so far in the thread, but if so, im just repeating it so that way I understand it as well)

Kane felt a little bad about his decision. He hadn't actually met any fox-tails yet surprisingly, and he didn't know that the reaction that would be elicited would be what it was. He gave out a small sigh as he realized his mistake, and fell into his spot giving a small apology and stating how it wouldn't happen again. Meanwhile, in the back of his head, he could hear Noctis having a hay-day and theoretically rolling on the ground laughing. You actually did it?!? Oh man, do you have a type or what!Shut it. I just pet her tail. Besides, you're one to talk, hitting on practically every girl I've met so far.Yeah, but at least I don't immediately make them weary of my presence. Why don't you just bugger off, and come back when you've had some actual success then, asshole.Inner dialogue aside, he followed the party into the dilapidated building. Much to his own dismay, the building's interior didn't quite fit his romanticized vision he held for it in his mind. In place of ornate, but dusty interiors it instead had the trappings of a building long overtaken by nature, with an ancient tree having fallen over to block most of the pathway, and many entrances blocked by piles of stone. Beyond one of the pathways he could hear the faint baying of monsters. It was impossible to tell how many, but at least it told him of the danger present. Clutching his grimoire, he prepared mentally for any enemies that might jump out upon them. It was a bit of a relief to his own battle-anxiety to see the rest of the party taking it so lightly however. Nisha was already scrawling their initials in the air like some sort of geocache marker. Capsule and Sayha were already well into the planning and executing phase of planning, taking this whole escapade rather buisness-like in their approach. Fletcher was keeping rather calm and had already gotten to work picklocking the door. Out of all the possibilities that lay before him however, the one that stuck him as the most terrifying was the slightly-ajar crate. It reminded him too much of the mimics from a certain fantasy game that looked like chests, but when opened, sudddenly grew large arms and legs and massive teeth and caused perma-death. He decided that since everyone else seemed pretty set on their decisions he would support them in whatever way he could. (be prepared for if, then statements) The first thing he would do would be to activate his Mana Sense ability, tuning it to Miasma. Sure, he would have to filter through his own interference, but seeing as how he hadn't accumulated any corruption levels it shouldn't be too hard to at least get a reading of the general area and the concentrations of the miasma that the monsters themselves were generated from*. One of his primary focuses would be towards that crate, whether consciously or subconsciously, he just didn't trust it. IF he senses a large concentration of miasma within the chest THEN he uses his turn to cast Miasma Bullet targeting the Chest IF he does not sense a large concentration of Miasma THEN he disregards the chest and proceeds to the next course of action IF Fletcher fails his lockpicking role THEN Noctis/Kane shall use Miasma Bullet to attempt to break the door. Tags: HirosameNotes: Sorry for the set of IF/THEN statements, i just couldn't vote on one single outcome with the options I had. TL;DR if he senses the crate is a creature, he's gonna use his turn to attack it, if not and fletcher fails the roll, he's gonna try and break the door.

Things had died down rather quickly. The kobalds proved themselves a minor threat, if that, and seemed to be more of a speed-bump than anything. That's what worried Kane. Sure the party was strong, (whether they got along well or not would prove itself over time) but there should be more conflict than the one small conflict. The lull between conflicts always had hit him harder than the conflicts themselves. Combat was simple. It was a game of chess; it was strategy with the pieces you are dealt, all with the goal of total domination. Sure there were always variables that would add themselves into the equation regardless, but it was still in the end a giant game of strategy. There was no strategy for dealing with the unknown. Sark's question was one of the first things to break the silence, his eager assumptions driving some rather entertaining answers from the others. Dorian got to the point rather quickly, addressing how they were here for the purpose of a quest. Sayha was somewhat simpler, stating she was just here to kill things before berating the dwarf for being greedy concerning wealth. Kane gave a light chuckle, his hands once again in the pockets of his pinstripe pants. His answer would probably be the simplest of the group. "I'm just along for the ride." Tags: Fletcher

As soon as the kobalds came into view, Kane let loose with his miasma bullet, hitting one straight in the head and killing it on the spot. From there, he would cast Oblivion Claw onto one of Dumah's blades, choosing the option to afflict dumah's next target with the curse that the next skill it would use would be cursed to be 1 second longer for the next few minutes. Not that it would stay alive that long. He then cast Shackles of the Sentanced onto another approaching Kobald, rooting it in place for the next 5 seconds, enough to either give someone a breather, or to allow them to focus on the others as this one was incapacitated. Kane charged up another Miasma Bullet fully and blasted another one of the Kobalds with it. Another headshot, and it was down for the count. Now it was just a matter of keeping control over the battlefield. Tags: @dumah @serenityspace @shadowsaiph Fletcher Sark

The building that sat in front of the group reminded Kane of something straight out of the Lovecraftian books he had loved to read in the old world. The old, dilapidated, Victorian style of the building just screamed that dark cults and gods from beyond had inhabited the dwelling. It sent chills of both excitement and fear up Kane's spine to think about it. It was almost set up too coincidentally; a mist covered entrance on a dark night, vines creeping up the stonework like the very tentacles of Nyarlathotep, the howling of the cold wind against the ancient pipes. It was almost even more poetic if you were to look at the classes of those grouped together. There was an Exorcist (the fluffy-tailed one), a Demonologist (Fletcher), a Priest (Capsule), a Cultist (himself) and a Private Eye (Sayha). Kane decided that he would need to periodically take notes as they ran through the eldritch maze that lay before them, it may just yet become a best-seller. Getting his mind out of the little bubble of his thoughts however, it was nice to see his former mentor again. Nice. Yup. Now he would just need to hope that she wouldn't purposefully throw creatures at him again. He hoped the un-fond memories weren't showing themselves on his face too obviously. Sayha he remembered from a recent group. It was nice that she was jumping straight into managing everyone, although he didn't know if "Make sure nothing gets past the front lanes" was the best instructions to give him. Especially since now he was right behind both the tracker and... The tails. There were THREE. It immediately began bringing back memories of his own dog in the other world. He had owned a pomeranian back then, and he had grown up with her. He remembered how soft the dog's fur was, how he used to cuddle with her, how much he had missed her back when he first found himself in this world. He had always been real good with animals, and often would just get right along with them. Even cats, which he used to be allergic to would just walk up and cuddle with him as he would pet them. But he had a special connection with his dog, his Fluffy, and he did miss her so. In the end he couldn't help himself. He just wanted to remember the feeling. He reached forward, and as gently, softly and kindly as he could just pet the tail that sat in front of his face. " As far as what we should do, I vote for heading in to the grande ol' House of Leaves that lies before us." Noctis suggests that the group should 1: Enter the building

Noctis was awestruck at the pure size of the structure. The statue was definitely radiating the strange energy that he had been picking up on since they ventured down into the caves. He actually had to purposefully switch off his Element Sense, simply because whatever this was gave him a headache. He made his way forward slowly, as to not step on any slimes. The squeal of his companion told him she wasn't quite so lucky. The device was definitely pulsing some strange energy, and whatever it was, it couldn't be good. The veins carrying the mana and miasma straight to the base of it, the miasma flowers eating the slimes, none of it seemed natural. This would definitely have to be a location to return to later, try and get some more data out of it. " This is definitely it, whatever IT is." He began by observing the device upon the statue. It seemed to almost be organic, but definitely composed of inorganic matter. Whatever it was, the channels ran straight to it. He could not deduce any visible engine that would run of the energy, but just the hum and pulsing of it being focused in the strange contraption. It had no output either, which was strange even by this world's standards. He dusted some of the moss off of the rim, trying to deduce the meaning of the strange glyphs that were inscribed upon it. “ Organic and inorganic…. Like teeth…or bones….hey Noctis…” " Yes?", he replied, still partially trying to deduce the machine. “ I’m holding monster sh*t aren’t I?” Her last comment made him chuckle. He bent down to the flowers and plucked one out of the ground. It had definitely been tainted by miasma, and had apparently been feeding off of the monsters and whatever latent energy laid within the channels. They didn't smell too good, but with a quick adjustment to the miasma flow within it, he granted them a bit of anima instead. While it still held its shimmer, the colors inverted themselves, the black becoming a pearly white, the dark miasma turning into a shine of blue and pink, resembling almost an opal or moonstone in its shimmer as it passed over it. " I don't think so. I believe whatever it is, seems to be constantly shifting as though it were in flux with the universe. It almost seems to deny itself any permanent form, or give itself any one attribute. It just seems to have sucked up so much miasma by devouring slimes that the material itself has become almost solidified miasma ore." He placed the now healthy flower in the corner of Franny's hair above her ear. " Think of it as purified and solidified monster essence combined with meteorite or something, my little Santa Muerte. Like pig-iron." Tags: Franny Stein

I know this is going to sound like a shameless plug, but I'm not trying to go for that.
As far as what I was planning with forming the guild "Deus Ex Mortis" (when i get a few more for sures) was going to be keeping a public archive of all the research done. I know everyone is joking with me about it being a guild of information brokers and spies (small part of it true), the original plan around it is actually to just create a guild to operate on and centralize the spread out nature of research (hence why its one of the main goals of the guild). Once I raised enough money with the guild, the plan was to purchase Oxford University and turn it into a public network of buildings soley designed for research, investigation and record keeping of the documentations. While the guild members would run it, I was planning more or less IC-ly to keep it open to the public, with the only catch being a slight membership tax, and the IC requirement that all experiments done must be recorded, documented, copied, and have the original documentation turned over for the archive.
TL;DR I've had a plan, its just a little slow at the moment.

Kane found the group rather lively, and admired how most of them already seemed to know the others, merging rather well. Even the dwarf, who suddenly just shoved his way forward onto the scene, seemed to have a pre-existing place within this group. That being said, while he felt welcome, he could quickly tell that the others were...more or less off-put by his own presence. Was it the gothic look of his character, or possibly his darker choice of class? Heretics already weren't liked too well by the Wardens, but...he didn't expect so many to be weary of him. No matter the case, the leader, Dumah, seemed to be fine with it for the most part, quickly sending out the invitation. Kane quickly palmed the interface and accepted it, looking at the stats of his fellow members. As he joined, his passive buff, Painful Potency, was immediately added to the party, as well as a small, thin, notched bar of dark purple color right under everyone's mana bar: Corruption Level. It was more for his own measurement really, as none of his skills should effect those in his vicinity unless they were monsters, but nonetheless the small bar always followed him, and he would probably need to do some explaining later. Dumah began explaining the raid, telling the different members their positions before finally coming to Kane. "Mr. Corvo, I am afraid I do not know the style of a Heretic, so I leave your position to your own choice." It was fair enough. His current build didn't really tailor to any one specific spot anyhow. He put his hands in the pockets of his pinstripe suit as he made his way towards the back. "I'll help out the newbie with operator. Other than that, just expect some spells to occasionally arc over your heads. I can pick up a bit with emergency healing and rooting monsters, so Ill do my best to give some general help where its needed." It sounded like a plan to him anyway, and took up a spot next to the rather new shaman, noticing that occasionally he would whisper a bit to himself. Kane wouldn't bring it up yet, but it might make for some interesting conversation later if the action died down. They shortly began making their way down the dark, moist, broken steps of the old tunnel, the way lit only barely by the combination magic light and flashlight. It was definitely old, with nature already having long retaken the expanse of subway, a small river with plants running down the middle of the rusted and shattered tracks. After they cleared it out, it would definitely need a touch up. Periodically as they made their way along, Kane would make a small glyph along the wall or floor with Mythic Script, so if the lights were to ever go out, they would at least have a method of finding their way back. The peace was shortly shattered however by the sounds of a large metal door thrusting open as it was shattered by a large force, a strange figure running towards them flailing its arms about and yelling something unrecognizable due to the echo of the tunnel. As the figure got closer however, He recognized it as the dwarf who made him his recent change of clothes and vanity, and wondered what the small tailor was doing this far down in the tunnels. It was quickly replaced with focus however, as his warning became clearer. Kobalds. He saw the worry of the shaman next to him as he half drew his blade, the assassin, Sayha, telling him to put it away quickly after yelling at the tailor running towards them. Kane put his hand out reassuringly towards Dorian, as he slowly resheathed his blade. He couldn't make out how many there were that far down the tunnel, but it would be a good idea to prepare to at least severely weaken one. He focused in his hand and began charging Miasma Bullet. It didn't matter how many, his range was 10 meters, his accuracy was spot on, and its speed was enough to be mistaken as an instantaneous attack. As soon as he saw a Kobald, he would blast it right in between the eyes. Tags: @dumah @serenityspace @shadowsaiph Fletcher SarkWords: [713]
