"I do!" Sophia replied immediately to Bailin's question, with a hand raised above her shoulder and a enthusiastic tone in her voice. "Though I don't look it, I am a mother." She paused for a moment, and looked for any changes in everyone's expressions. She kind of expected them to be somewhat surprised by her statement. Except for Steel, since he was the only other person within their group who knew about her child, unless he had forgotten. After the moment had passed, she resumed speaking to the group again. "Before the Apocalypse, I was a stay-at-home mom since my job let's me work from home." she then continued, "Not only did I took care of my son after he got home from school, but also, sometimes, our neighbor's daughter." She then let out a little sigh. "She was such a sweet girl, it was so cute how they played together." She let out a soft laugh from her lips as she fondly remembers their little games. But before she would reminisce for long, she brought her focus back to the group and their current situation. "Oh! Sorry about that." She said, while nervously laughing at herself for distracted by her own thoughts. "I'll be happy to take care of the boy, if that's OK?" While she awaited for their reply, she looked over at the boy once more and wondered to herself what was his reason for coming into the Miasma Realm. Was he looking for something, or someone? Either way, she was confident that she could help out taking care of him.

You decided to take the child in. However, no matter how much you try to talk to the child, he never seems to say anything in response. When he wants something he simply points to it. A closer look shows no injuries or wounds, making some wonder if he really did try to wander into the Miasma Realms. However, considering how quiet the Miasma Realms have been lately, most of the mercenaries seem to believe that the current state of the Miasma Realms is likely why the boy was not injured in his recklessness. Other mercenaries however seem to be a bit wary of him. As the night begins, your mercenaries enter their night shifts and begin patrolling the outpost. Also, the kid disappeared (if you were watching him). The supposed night remains eerily quiet as ever, but passes by like normal or at least what has lately been normal. The strange calmness is anything but normal to the mercenaries who had been at the outpost longer than you. They are used to having monsters appear at the edge of the barrier, watching and looking for openings to exploit. However, the last night and this night seems to be lacking in an opposing presence, as it was waiting for something.

It was early in the morning as Bailin rose to his feet and equipped his gear. He had slept rather uneasy, his thoughts racing back and forth as he slept. Most of the time he thought on what had been said the day before and the sleep he had gotten were strange, blurry visions or dreams of things he could not recall, no matter how hard he tried to. Sophia and Avalon had been nice; Shuwen had been practical; Zyrune had requested not to be scolded as a little child, though he and Steel were, in Bailin’s humble opinion were actually acting as little children, bickering back and forth. Steel had said some cruder things which made Bailin wonder a bit; Had he not told the others on multiple occasions he was merely suggesting things that seemed best to him given their current circumstances and if anyone would have suggested something better he would gladly substitute his idea for the better one? [break][break] Shaking his head Bailin started his walk around the compound, checking on the progress the golems had made and how the general situation and mood were. According to the Landers things had been quiet and that silence had continued through the night and into the morning. This seemed all too much like the silence before the storm, that one turn in the game where you had to call all hands to their battle stations because all hell was going to break loose once you pressed the ‘End turn’- button. It made Bailin feel rather anxious, as he had not spent a lot of time here and the entire Miasma Realm thing was new to him, which only added to the feeling of dread which slowly took over the thrill of adventure. He loved and hated how he felt at the moment. This was what he had dreamt of all those nights a long, long time ago in a world far, far away, where life was rather dull, spending most of his time behind his computer and playing games. [break][break] Marching through the compound Bailin decided to go and have a chat with Sophia as that would be less of a pain and annoyance compared to the two others he wanted to talk to, just to clear the air and at least try and get everyone working together in harmony rather than the current rag tag band. As well as, so he assumed, talking to Sophia would probably give some insight into the child. Zyrune had made a point about the Landers not listening to any of them, though after a night of turning about and thoughts shooting back and forth, Bailin actually couldn’t blame the Landers. As adventurers they should set an example, but all they had done most of the time was bicker amongst each other. It was true that things had progressed and perhaps even slightly improved, but them being a shining example was far from the truth. The fact that they would probably have to rely on skills to even talk to the Landers and to get them to do something annoyed Bailin greatly. It was true the Landers had more experience with the Miasma realm but the way Bailin saw it, they both needed each other and the adventurers having the better chances of survival. [break][break] His first stop however would be Steel. Looking around for a short while Bailin finally found him. “Good morning. I will, as you have requested, keep things short. I had not noticed I talked as much as you say I talk. Also, I am fairly certain I never proclaimed nor assumed myself being the leader, I merely threw up some ideas of what I think would be best given our circumstances and, if anyone would have a better idea I’d gladly follow that course. I am also fairly certain I have said this on several occasions, though I can understand how things might have felt or be perceived. The current problem being, in my humble opinion, is that we, in my opinion, have to give the good and grand example. At our current course we, as adventurers, are more like bickering school kids than adventurers. And the thing between you and Oddy and now you and Zyrune is exactly what has gotten me worried. We need to work together and keep our arguments away from public view, how do you think the Landers would react if we kept having a go at each other?” Bailin asked, trying his best to shorten his sentences, but not making them too short as to make the essence of his message and views lost to the shortage of words. “I had a restless night, which gave me enough time to think on things and this is what I came up with. I hope you understand my point of view on the matter.” Bailin ended his plea, waiting a short bit for Steel to respond before continuing his tour, whilst his golem continued the task that was given to it. [break][break] As he continued his walk through the compound, after he had his talk with Steel, Bailin decided it was probably best to leave Zyrune alone for now, as it would probably only escalate the situation further instead of de-escalating. Changing his course Bailin started looking for Sophia. After looking around for yet another while Bailin finally found Sophia. “Good morning, did you sleep well? I would like to thank you for looking after the boy; I fear I am not… suited to deal with children all that well. So how is he doing?” Bailin asked with a smile, trying to keep the number of words to a bare minimum. [break][break]

*OC: I'm assuming it's morning as Luna wrote: 'The supposed night remains eerily quiet as ever, but passes by like normal or at least what has lately been normal.' I am currently busy (really creepy) so I had to skip some bits and bobs, if I missed anything important, please tell me so I can either edit it in or maybe in the second round or something. Golem orders: Continue building.

It seemed Zyrune and Steel were beginning to fall in with each other, if for no other reason then they were both chafing under Bailin’s continued instruction. Personally, Shuwen didn’t mind the Warden talking so much, as long as he knew what he was doing, and didn’t require that he do the same, but the others didn’t seem to be so accommodating. Zyrune was only retaliating with snide remarks thus far, which wasn’t really a problem, since no one particularly cared about that. Steel was being a bit contrary, apparently for the sake of doing so. He did make what the Monk hoped was a rousing speech in order to get the landers to start putting effort into the project, but he made a point of not using his courtesan subclass skills to do so. Shuwen didn’t comment, but he thought the Swashbuckler was exaggerating the issue. Also, what was the point in having that subclass if he didn’t plan to make use of it? The whole idea seemed a bit silly to him. Steel and Avalon wanted to start on building a golem, but it didn’t seem like they had the necessary resources yet, so they focused on gathering them.
Some people did object to taking the kid in, most noticeably Zyune, but no one was particularly vocal about it, so they ended up taking charge of him after all.Even though Shuwen was the first to volunteer, it seemed Sophia had significantly better qualifications for taking care of the kid, so he let her do it.
Shuwen got up fairly early the next morning. As the person who needed to have breakfast ready, ideally before everyone else was ready to eat it, he tended to end up getting up first. On his way to the mess hall/kitchen, he was met by one of the mercenaries, who looked rather frantic. Apparently, the boy had gone missing during the night. When he heard this, Shuwen sighed and brought his left palm to his forehead. I ought to have seen that coming. Whatever was causing the kid to act the way he did (Shuwen suspected mental trauma or a head injury) he obviously wasn’t simply content with being in the camp with them. He was after something here in the Miasma realms. Blah, I guess I’d better go look for him then. Sending his golem to continue gathering resources, he began to look around the outpost.
Shuwen started by looking around the outpost. He guessed that the boy would wander straight into the Miasma realm, but without a tracker, there was little point in trying to look for him. Instead, he tried to search the outpost itself, to see if the boy was hiding anywhere. First he checked the mess hall, where his was setting things up for breakfast, and eagerly waiting for him to arrive. He managed to get them organized somewhat, but no luck finding the boy. He checked the mercenaries’ barracks, but the men there hadn’t seen him at all. Feeling frustrated he started looking around the outpost perimeter, hoping he might find some sign of where the boy had gone. However, instead of finding tracks, he ended up finding the boy himself, wandering near the edge of the protective barrier. Huh, I guess he has more sense then I gave him credit for. After indicating he wanted the boy to follow, he quickly began to go look for Sophia, who happened to be in a conversation with Bailin. “Morning, I found him wandering near the perimeter.” With that, he unceremoniously handed the boy over to Sophia to look after for the day, then headed back towards the mess hall. Breakfast would be a bit late that morning, due to Shuwen being preoccupied, so there was a good chance people would be grouchy at him, but the Monk largely planned to ignore it.

Assigned All Available People Of The Land under Zyrune's control To Bunkers NOTES: Luna if the landers aren't in the bunker, Zyrune is going to start killing them as we have previously ordered to them into the bunkers and they've ignore us. |
Laying in bed that night, the druid couldn't help but groan in his silent rapture, simply gazing in vain trying to determine anything that had changed about the dark twilight that loomed outside his window. Simple cotten sheets lay over his body, the folds clinging to his skin in the uncomfortable heat. His usual perfect hair had become ruffled, handing over his forehead, like curtains of pink. The lips which generally were twisted in a frown, or held stiffly like he was in the process of sucking a lemon, were now relaxed. The corners of his mouth were even twitched up in that rare smile he only used to flash when he thought no one was looking.
The events of the previous day running around in his head. It hadn't been exciting at all, in fact the complete opposite. Bailin continued to order and talk and talk and talk without really doing very much at all. Their little meeting about the boy ended up with Steel even voicing his irritation at the warden's speeches. However that was where he seemed to return to normal as he took Zyrune's suggestion after making a long winding speech about light and shadows that Zyrune had spent contemplating what he was going to have for lunch. However when the man eventually went to address the people of the land, he refused his to use his courtesan skill and just addressed them which they promptly seemed to go back to ignoring which led to the druid openly bring his hand to his face and dragging it downwards.
As a result whenever Zyrune caught Steel's gaze, he winked and veined a hair flick in his direction. Something fun to pass the time. Time was dragging onward but so slowly like a turtle trudging along a beach towards an sea that was withdrawing back onto itself, so it was way to pass the time. He had decided to let his golem explore without him and went back to crafting more armor for the people of the land that still went about ignoring everyone's orders much to the druid's frustration.
Then there was the boy, apparently it made more sense to take him and once more the idiot Steel refused to use his courtesan skill and thus the boy had sat in silence, at least from what Zyrune had seen. However there was some excitement during the night as the boy had slipped out despite Sophia being placed over him just as the druid had earlier predicted. Zyrune had been the only to object to his presence and so it was definitely their fault when he went missing. Still he had been informed by a passing lander, that Shuwen had found the boy before he escaped the border. Rolling his eyes, the half alv stretched and went about equipped his gear.
***
Breathing out a long slow breath, he leaned against the wall within the canteen listening to the people of the land that he had been assigned, each one sat together at a small table enjoying food and breakfast, supplies that he had made sure came from his own storage. He radiated power without saying anything, beneath the calm and collected exterior, he channeled his idol subclass, making sure that no one that he spoke to would be able to ignore him.
Eyes sparkling with discontent, he lifted himself from his position and approached the table and slung his arms around one of the landers playfully, making sure his grip was tighter than normal. "Well now that you've stuffed your faces with supplies from my storage, I expect all of you to shut up and pay attention to me. Any more distractions and this will be your last meal” After giving the table a glare and making sure his face was close to the lander he was wrapped around, he smiled.
"We may have gotten off on the wrong foot. I'm sure you know that adventurers are making great efforts at reclaiming the lands, and yes it has been a slow affair," The half alv spoke as he remembered how long it took them to explore the nearest adventurer city. "Each land has to be explored, constant guard put up until fortifications were build and that is an even longer affair, but we are getting there and we are slowly expanding in each direction. Within their walls and for a distance all around, the ground and water is clean, the air is pure, you and your people are safe. We give this to you without asking for anything in return. In fact so far my companions have asked very little of you and even then you've ignore them. I'm sure you didn't mean to." He turned his head until his lips brushed against the lander's face and he blew a soft breath across his face ruffling the man's hair, before turning his gaze back to the group around the table. "Make no mistake, if you ignore me, this will be the last meal you'll ever eat."
He shot each of his men a glare, making sure each one felt the piercing strength of his gaze, while he smiled with his arm still tightly wrapped around their friend. "Get in the bunkers I built for your sorry ass or so help me this immortal idol will never let you enjoy a moment of peace for the rest of your lives, I will hunt each one of you down," Smiling an amused smile and vibrantly sparkling eyes, he placed his hand on the lander's hand that was resting on the table and squeezed tightly showing that he meant business. "I don't care what the rest of the people of the land do or what my companions ask of them, but you are under my orders. Now get in the bunker and I swear to powers that resurrect me that if you don't give it 100 per cent, I will seek your worthless life with each of mine and I swear I will make you pay. NOW MOVE AND MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS!"
With that he rose, letting go of the lander he had been wrapped around in the process, watching as his men moved, moving with them to escort them to their positions, equipping his staff in doing so, making sure channel his energy allowing it to slightly sparkle for the people of the land to see, fully intent on going ahead with his threat. He was sick of this people and their lazy attitude, complaining how things were quite and yet doing nothing, saying nothing to anyone or anything.
Once the people of the land had been situated within their post, he made instruct each one to equip the armor he had prepared and to keep their eyes peeled for anything that was headed their way. Making his way down the hallway, he swung the golem crystal in front of him as he moved, opening the interface, he scrolled downwards until he found the task he needed. "Collect resources." Letting out a frustrated sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose trying to calm his rising anger.
The miasma realms was beginning to get to him and this ever lasting twilight and fort full of lazy people of the land and irritable adventurers full of speeches and irritable personalities were definitely getting to be too much. Though for the most part, the group seemed to give the druid a wide berth due to his and Steel's clashing the first day and that only seemed to suit the druid. Multiple times he had contemplated summoning his Alraune, but decided against it. There wasn't a need to summon her especially if he only want company, it was better off to wait until he actually needed her, otherwise it was just a waste of mana.
The druid stopped moving for a moment to watch a group that had gathered by Sophia and rolled his eyes. "Someone's popular today." He couldn't help but mutter as he moved past on his way to the courtyard to try his hand at some yoga, or what little of it he remembered.

word count;1765 The sky filled with darkening violet, charcoal, and navy swirling around above with clear distinction of night and day. The only solace of light was the glistening translucent crystallines that sheltered her and the others from dangerous miasma lurking throughout the realm. The corrupted miasma unfortunately prevented the beauty of radiant fiery sunrise of warmth that would give her a pleasing sensation every morning. But taking upon this recolonization mission, she was not provided that comfort. Thoughts that ran amuck in her mind would have plagued her for awhile of her misfit group of adventurers but having people of the land she had to train to specifically man the defensive bunkers gave her a purpose. Thinking about her adventurer comrades who seemed to bicker and argue every so often instead of properly planning out their mission that it made her have doubts if they would be able to complete this mission with a sound of mind. Still of there was one thing that the defensive swashbuckler seemed to assist her in, it somehow boosted up their morale and made more of them interested in the art of archery to defend the outpost properly. Unlike some of the other adventurers, she didn’t have much of a problem in getting her mercenaries seeing how her job was more combat orientated and they were restless. The lander mercenaries were crude and had little to no manners and some of them made perverted jokes that she had become accustomed to listening though if it went too far, she could easily whack them up to keep them in line. They usually abided to her and had learned the hard way they couldn't go too far in their joking for their sake. After all, she was a growing young woman though with the abilities and skills of an agile assassin. Their jolly behavior was turned upside down when she began training the mercenaries in the dawn of the morning. She did not hear any of their boisterous talking amongst themselves. Avalon swung her restless gaze upon the lander mercenaries' darting eyes and wary glances at their surroundings as if some creature would attack at any moment for some odd reason. Their behavior was ominous as it sent her on high alert at that moment. She couldn't fathom what was really going on in their minds and it disturbed her that the normally easy going mercenaries she was fond of were acting very strangely. Not wanting to drag on her curiosity too long, she asked the landers if anything was bothering them. Some of them just stared with a widened expression at her figure as if they had seen a ghost or something of that nature. It had taken a long few seconds until a lander mercenary took the initiative to inform her of what collectively was going on in their mind. Those few seconds almost left her breathless. The sun kissed young mercenary explained to her in a wary tone of voice that it was abnormal that there was utterly no trace of any type of monster during the night creeping about near the powerful barrier and the deathly silence made them uneasy. Wasn't that a good thing that monsters weren't lurking so close by? But then again, she frowned with the question in mind--were the monsters gathering allies to finally push their way through the defensive barrier? If that was the case at hand, then she needed to have her golem build more defensive barracks so they could have more lander mercenaries help defend the outpost easier. She took out her crystal from her inventory and swiftly ordered her colossal golem to begin to create a defensive barrack along the surrounding. The next decision was which one of the lander mercenaries that she had trained earlier to station at the defensive barracks. The easiest choice was a young robust man with hair the color of espresso and sharp eyes like silver lightning who didn't talk as much as everyone else but learned the art of archery faster than everyone else out of all of the lander mercenaries. He didn't complain about waking up at the stroke of dawn to begin the second day of their training from her, she at least didn't make them train late at night since that would most likely affect their performance the next say. What if a monster attack and they were exhausted? She would feel responsible for these mercenaries. The second lander mercenary she chose was a rugged man who towered over her and had obsidian hair and homey chocolate eyes. It had taken him a while to learn how to shoot properly but overtime he became sharp shooter. The other reason was that he was a mother hen who cared about the other lander mercenaries deeply based on her observations. She hoped she was right since she believed caring about comrades was important. The last pick of who to station in the defensive barack came in a pair. They were twins, a tall baby faced young man and the other was a sculpted faced man, two looked night and day but they had one thing in common—a boisterous amount of energy full to the brim. They would be the guys who would keep the momentum going during combat. These were the mercenaries she trusted and considered her assistant teachers to defend their station and train other mercenaries in the art of archery. After their early morning training, she and her mercenaries went to the mess hall with a large appetite and excitedly went to devour their breakfast. She was thoroughly glad that the monk was also a chef sub class who made delicious cookery instead of expecting tasteless rations that tasted stale leaving a bad aftertaste in her mouth. For that reason, she cheerily told her mercenaries to give the chef their thanks despite the grumbling that came with it and sour glances. It was as expected after all. They had seemed to warm up to her after becoming more acquainted and bonding with her through training but some still had wary and distrustful glances at the other adventurers. It couldn’t be helped especially since they had already set an example that adventurers just fought and bicker but the swashbuckler who strangely didn’t want to use skills that would be useful in appealing to the landers, caused a commotion from the landers and many disagreed with his piercing speech that led to some heated tension for a while. An older craggy mercenary soundly explained in a ragged tone that they did want to partake in helping in this mission but they were unsure whether to really trust adventurers and if they were a stable group. Avalon couldn't past those mercenaries after what they most likely witnessed on their interactions. The only thing that bugged her was that the skill the swashbuckler had used somehow made her heart skip a beat and fluttering in her stomach. He had seemed much more attractive than usual. Like a flash, that feeling disappeared once the speech was over and she was grateful for ending. She didn't want to feel attracted to a guy she hardly knew, it wasn’t normal for her. “What? How did he—?” she questioned her baby faced mercenary who was walking past her with a casual swagger sway. Her lavender eyes glinted with curiosity on hearing him whispering to his brother that the mute boy had disappeared during the night despite the female guardian, Sophia who surprisingly was a mother in real life babysitting him that night. Well she couldn't stay awake the whole night, everybody needed their well deserved rest especially on an on-going mission. Avalon guessed she and everyone else underestimated his persistence on escaping deeper into the miasma realms. For what utter reason, she did not know and really wanted to find out sooner than later. With his silent nature and his unwillingness to communicate with even the landers, he seemed like the feral child she had read about a while back of ‘wild Peter’ who was captured in the Germanic town of Hamelin and had become the celebrated case of one untainted by modern learning but found out he may have lived with humans since he had been wearing rags on him and was untanned by the sun. Delving into the boy who had escaped the night before, her thoughts ran more along that he had a sense of intelligence and may have secrets hidden within him and unwilling to share with others. It may be of importance if where they were located was where he was trying to go. Avalon breathed a sigh of relief when she found out that the monk located him at the edge of the protective barrier and swiftly returned the young boy to the guardian. With the thought of him escaping once again, she ordered two of her remaining mercenaries to observe and trail the young child. “Just stay on your guard just to be sure,” she added and continued with a small smile, “Besides, you guys grew on me. Your safety is important,” that caused the disgruntled mercenaries to grow rosy cheeks. With her mercenaries doing their jobs she ordered, she was able to strolled around the outpost and finally have some time for herself to relax. It was a weight off of her shoulders and a break from the scrutiny from the steel gazed mercenaries. Her thoughts drifted back to the tension between some of the adventurers. Zyrune and Steel. It seemed that didn’t make the best first impression toward each other and the attitudes seemed to fluctuate back and forth, snippy comments and defensive attitudes. She couldn’t help but snicker in amusement when she noticed in the corner of her violet eye the Zyrune, the druid mocking Steel by winking and flicking his hair. Every time she looked back at the druid, he was doing the same exact body gestures, which made it more amusing. Those gestures kept her from feeling too much of the attraction due to the widespread allure skill from the swashbuckler or else she would be swooning. Noticing the courtyard some distances away, she chose to check out that location for a while and survey what she could accomplish there. Briskly heading to the courtyard, she saw the druid seemingly getting ready to do some exercise or something similar and decided to do some relaxing activity herself. She greeted the druid with a toothy grin and nodded at him and asked him politely, “May I join you Zyrune?” cocking her head to the side. Bailin Steel Sophia Shuwen Zyrune Luna, order; defensive barracks&placing four of her mercenaries there. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

The courtyard was eerily quiet as the entire area had been so for the past few days and it was beginning to get to the druid. Every day was the same, people of the land did their duties while on edge and the adventurers observed, prepared and waited, what they were waiting for, no one knew, but everyone understood and agreed that something was coming, they just couldn't say what. That seemed to bother him more than anything. Listening to the ambient drone of silence that the miasma realm seemed to grow within it, the druid stretched beneath the twilight sky that had been the same lackluster shade of dull that it had been when they first arrived.
The druid couldn't help but yawn and stretched his arms in the air. It was a relief to know that his lander accompaniment were actually doing their duties for once and that he had managed to prepare equipment of them. However it was still early and until his golem returned with some supplies for the medical area, he had time to spare, time perfectly suited to easing his mental worries and stretch some muscles that desperately needed it through the art of yoga.
It wasn't something he normally did each day, more like something that he whipped out when he was feeling especially stressed or felt like the world was really weighing down on him. Something about switching off your mind and letting your body stretch and relax while your lungs inhaled and exhaled in a steady pace seemed to be strangely calming.
Taking a slow deep breath, the druid spread out a simple mat that he had managed to borrow and spread it out in the center of the courtyard. He hadn't even looked around, choosing to ignore the people of the lander as they went about their duties or his fellow adventurers if they happened to be nearby. More than likely they were all in a panic over the young boy and his midnight escape. It did bother him that the boy was already causing trouble and becoming a distraction, but he was choosing to ignore it.
Something about the situation was odd and while he couldn't put his finger on it, something about the calmness of the miasma realm seemed to resonate with the appearance of this strange boy and that alone made Zyrune uneasy and only wish to separate himself from the boy. It seemed his companions felt differently however and only wanted to protect and look after him and normally Zyrune would have felt the same. However it was too close to home. First he had been torn away from his little sister, someone who he had cared deeply with and considered his best friend without so much a warning, but then soon into this new life, Aria a young lander girl that the druid had befriended had gotten into trouble and yet while the girl had been saved and everything turned out okay, it bothered him a little too much, bringing up painful memories of his sister.
Zyrune could only guess that the boy would have the same effect on him. No it was far better to allow the others to fret over him and for the half alv to stay somewhat sane and try to find a way to cope with the uneasy atmosphere and intolerable Steel. The man seemed to say one thing and do the other, even at times reading the druid's mind which seemed almost a little too god like, but it only made the druid blush and smile, it was nice to know that someone was able to read him and even reacted to him, maybe not in the most positive way, but it was better than being ignored. Something that the others seemed only more than happy to do, perhaps the entire business with Steel had unnerved them and they hadn't wished to get involved or pick sides for fear of the wrath that might shower down on them from Steel or even Zyrune, that made the druid smile even more, it was funny to think that the group's healer was feared or even seen as nuisance.
Still he understood his duty here and no matter what, he would make sure that the people of the land were safe to the best of his ability and that anyone that took damage would be healed, Steel of course may have to suffer some perfectly timed flirting or annoying comments in order to earn his heal here and there if and when he needed one, but that was part of the deal when he choose to make a show of Zyrune.
With a sigh of pleasure the half alv was just about to begin with he jumped at the sound of the sweet musical voice of the resident archer Avalon from behind him. Shrugging the druid smiled. "No not at all. There is a mat over by the wall if you want to use one?" Zyrune gestured to where he had borrowed his and allowed the woman time to prepare herself. "I was gonna try some yoga, this place is messing with my nerves." The druid spoke all the while not taking his eyes of the sparkling aura the girl seemed to emit. Something about her seemed at peace with herself and that somehow relaxed him.
Shaking his head, the druid eased his stiff body into the downward dog position and prayed that Steel would pass by so that he could wink at him in this rather revealing and vulnerable pose. "Do you mind?" Zyrune asked as he began to hum and sing a soft relaxing melody. Normally he wouldn't have been so talented, but he was actually activating an idol skill known as enthralling performance which allows an idol to learn three bard skills of their choosing, this one was called Meditation Nocturne, a soft relaxing melody that is designed to replenish the mana supply of nearby allies. As he hummed his skin and although he couldn't see her given his current position, knew that Avalon's skin was aglow with a soft light blue hue. After a few moments he changed his position to the upward dog position but continued to hum. "How are you holding up?" He spoke softly in a break in the melody as he stretched.

word count;778 She was inwardly surprised on the halcyon aura she had felt meeting the male druid with the vibrant mauve orchid eyes that gazed at her. His wavy fuchsia hair was also pleasing since both colors were her favorites and was drawn to those colors back in the real world especially while she was shopping. Zyrune must have come to the courtyard to take a breather like she had planned to in the spur of the moment. Avalon was glad she wasn't the only one who needed time to relax and relieve themselves from the stress or she would have felt like an oddball and might think she was not able to handle the pressure of the recolonization. Although they were labeled as adventurers, they technically were just like regular humans in a way. “Thanks Zyrune,” she responded, glancing at the mats the color of mocha that aligned messily on the side of the courtyard the tall fuchsia haired druid had pointed out. Some of those were splotches of rotten leaves that seemed they have been used multiple times already. Those mats weren’t the best looking and she would have rather used one like the floral yoga mat she regularly used while she would meditate back home but beggars couldn’t be choosers. It seemed that the druid was fine with using the mat with the way he seemed comfortable sitting on it at the moment or so it seemed to her. Avalon strolled toward the mocha colored mats to choose one of them. Inquisitively gazing at the mats, she picked the medium sized mat that seemed cleaner than the other ones since it had less splotches. After a short amount of time, she returned with the brown mat on her shoulder and then flipped swiftly to lay it down on the ground neatly. She carefully got into the basic lotus position as she placed her right foot over her left thigh and the opposite for the other side of her body though she had to use her hands to do so. She wasn't as flexible as she used to be and unfortunately winced at the awkward position that stretched out her legs a little bit. Then came to the easy part of the meditating exercise, she placed both of her hands and faced her palms to the sky. “I'm actually here to meditate. Not the best but I want to calm my mind and like you said, get rid of some of my nerves," she responded, scratching her head. The only few times she had meditated was when she was with her auburn haired friend who was in a zen lifestyle phase though it only lasted for a few weeks or so. Avalon was mildly curious on the benefits of visualization meditation since she had been having family troubles during that time causing her to have stress and a difficulty in falling asleep. It was a surprise to her when those few times she had meditated that week, her grades improved, she didn't get as annoyed as much as before, and she finally was able to get a good night's rest. "I don't mind at all, it'll help me meditate easier," she responded with a toothy grin as she then heard the velvety humming from the male druid. Taking a few deep breaths in and out, she closed her eyes and became entranced with the soothing and gentle sounds that soon led her into a calming environment--her happy place. It was a welcome sight to come upon. Avalon stood in a grassy meadow filled with a sea of vibrant flowers and dandelions flowing with the soft breeze wind. The sky above her was a tranquil blue and the light and wispy danced around in a soothing harmony. A rare and beautiful gift of a multi-colored arch appearance over the horizon gave her a calming and optimistic feeling that she felt she was outwardly giving a bright smile. "Huh?" she asked, confused for a moment with her being exited out of her tranquil visualization at that moment. It took her a few seconds for he to register what he just asked her and apologized, "Oh sorry, I was a bit lost in your music. It was lovely Zyrune. After a moment she shrugged, "I've actually been a little troubled lately. Thoughts swirling around in my head. Maybe nervous too since this is the first big mission I've taken so far. To be honest, I just want everyone to get along so this mission will run smoothly. Maybe a bonding session?" she laughed and continued softly with a jokingly glint, "though I doubt we have time for that. Too much testosterone." The mercenaries stare at you for a bit for making morning gestures while it was still night, but they didn’t really make note of it too much as day and night are nearly identical in the Miasma Realms, though the mercenaries do laugh about it time to time—probably to distract them from their worries. Speaking of worries, many of them have been on edge lately as the Miasma Realms should not be this calm. As a certain idol talked about using supplies from his storage, one of them stated, “Why are you using supplies from your personal storage? The caravan delivers supplies, containing things such as rations, to the base once a week. If you are referring to those supplies, then those are not ‘your’ supplies but our supplies. The Caravan delivers them to the base and it belongs to the base.” Another than began talking, “As for manning the bunkers, we need more than just get in there and begin defending. How about describing us a basic shift? Who gets to be in there from when to when. We can’t have the same people be in there 24/7. Right now we just have a basic day-night shift for patrolling the base. We really could use a more detailed schedule.” As the night ending and Sun supposedly rises, the landers switch shifts once more. However, one of the night guards seem to be missing. Morale takes a noticeable hit as rumors about how the missing lander probably met a gruesome end; though some say he just took advantage of the strange calmness and went AWOL. With the strange, uncharacteristic calmness, many guards are on the edge. To them his strange calmness was highly irregular, disturbing even. Fights are breaking out amongst the guards as their insecurities weaken their sanity.

Also, if I miss something, PM me about it. The last thing I want is missing an important detail in your post when I make these. Also sorry, for the long wait, school is still really busy for me (just had an exam this week and more to come soon, along with a paper). Finally, Day and Night work like so: if it is Round 1 of a day, it is day time; if it is Round 2 then it is night time. Of course, this doesn't matter much and can easily be confused icly as day and night look practically the same in the Miasma Realms. Finally, you lost a mercenary, so you will probably want to look into that (just a suggestion). How the investigation will work: Basically, write your character investigating the disappearance. For each person who does this, I will roll some dice (or use a RNG) to determining how successful they were and I will post the results in the next round. Do note that a lot of these things are somewhat experimental ideas I am trying out for DM threads. More or less, this is sort of a DM Quest Beta to see what works well and what doesn't.

“Well, it would appear someone has gotten their attention. So… did you just happen to be lazy and as such wanted to have Steel do all the work or were you unawares of your apparent gift?” Bailin said joking, hoping to ease the animosity between the two of them. Silently Bailin disliked the chap but these were the times all hands were needed and fighting between each other would have a devastating effect on things, though the Landers were able to laugh about the adventurers, which was a basis for their relations. Looking up Bailin thought he noticed the sky being slightly brighter, though this could also be due to a full moon or less clouds or something else. The entire darkness even during the day routine was annoying and somewhere, deep down, Bailin could understand why the Landers were so tense. If the adventurers would remain here as long as the Landers had, most assuredly they would also start to feel the pressure of living in darkness, much like the people near the upper regions of the earth, like Alaska and the North Pole or at least that’s what he had read somewhere in school. [break][break] “Well, it would appear we have found our spokesperson, say Zyrune, might I suggest we divide them and ourselves into shifts of about three hours, each section doing two shifts a day, one during… day time and one during the night time. It should give them and us enough time to either train, relax and eat. Might have our scribe fill in a nice schedule and name roster.” Bailin kindly suggested to the party and Zyrune in particular as the Landers seemed to be listening to him, for some reason. [break][break] “By the way… does anyone by any chance know how to do some boxing? When I was trying to sleep, I’m fairly certain I heard people punching each other, which got broken up by others, but it could very well be that tensions are starting to boil over and as such boxing would be a nice vent. Or we could start group therapy, but I’m fairly certain these are not your movie soldiers who look scary but are actually really gentle and caring and so on, though it is merely a suggestion of mine.” Bailin continued, having his eye shift from adventurer to adventurer as he rested his left hand on his rapier. [break][break] “Lastly I think we should start looking for resources and intelligence, perhaps we might even find clues as to where both the kid and that guard are.” Bailin said, softly and carefully, as he put the stock of his musket on the ground and gently leaned against it, carefully awaiting the next load of comments as he gave suggestions as to what he thought would be the better options. Words: 669 Shuwen sighed as he stared up at the dark sky, illuminated only by the equipment in the center of their outpost. He’d read about a psychological trick similer to this in a sci-fi book, used to wear down prisoners of war; give them a source of illumination that was kept on twenty four / seven, making them lose sense of night and day. This… wasn’t quite the same thing, but it was certainly close enough. He couldn’t even tell what time it was without a time piece, fortunately the interface had a systems clock built into it. In addition to the kid being gone, Shuwen heard a report that one of the guards had gone missing. That… was a bad sign. He doubted the missing guard had run off; they were in the Miasma realm for goodness sake; for the most part, the guards had been too afraid to leave the outpost for any reason. He didn’t think that would change because someone wanted to leave. Is the camp being… infiltrated? It was a disconcerting thought, one that made Shuwen begin to put up his guard more around the mercenaries, on the look out for signs that at any of the guards could be something other then what they seemed to be. @delpheron, meanwhile, seemed to have hit the end of his patience regarding the landers. They’d been eating food, taking up space and resources in the outpost, without really getting anything done. After a scathing combination of lecture and thread, he attempted to order the lander mercenaries into the bunkers, or at least as many of them as would fit. Bailin tried to make a joke about it, referring to Steel being the one to previously attempt to get the landers to do things, but it was colored by thinly veiled dislike, dislike that even Shuwen could pick up on. And if Shuwen could pick up on it, it was quite likely everyone else could, so the joke seemed to fall flat. The landers had a… mixed reaction to that. They didn’t respond overmuch to Zyrune’s threats, which he was a little surprised by, but were confused about his assertations. Mainly due to the supplies apparently being held in common. Even taking that into account, the Monk didn’t really think they had a morale leg to stand on; they weren’t really accomplishing anything by being there; for the most part, they were essentially a waste of space and supplies. However, they were more amicable towards the demands of them manning the bunker, suggesting the role be split into appropriate shifts. At that point, Bailin continued to a full on briefing. He brought up two main points; the landers’ behavior and the missing guard. To work off the mercenaries’ excess energy, he suggested combat drills, namely boxing. When he asked if anyone had any expertise regarding, Shuwen sighed and raised his hand tenatively. “I’m not really qualified to teach though, and I’m pretty busy in the kitchen as it is. I might be able to squeeze in an hour a day.” Surely the others can’t screw up the food that much while I’m not there, not unless they do it on purpose anyways. But he could barely conceive of them deliberately sabotaging their food. After breakfast. Shuwen tried to interject on Sophia’s and Bailin’s conversation, but they ignored him for some reason, so he simply left after passing the kid onto her, heading over to the mess hall to work on breakfast, which he was already late to doing. He might be able to catch up if he scrambled. As expected, the food was a notch lower on the quality scale due to his tardiness, but it couldn’t be helped. As they ate, Shuwen wondered if Bailin was expecting him to organize the whole boxing thing, or if the Warden planned to take care of that for him. Well, I guess I'll announce it during dinner if he hasn't by then.Golem Command: Gather Resources

word count;1420 The lack of light that had bothered her so much became disturbingly normal. It was what she felt was only a few days that she entered this landscape etched in sickly purple hues and clouds of murk. Sometimes it escaped her memory of the vibrant colorful spectrum of the dimensions outside that it seemed more of a vivid dream. It was difficult to keep track of the days gone by as the day and night blended into one another without her noticing much difference unless she asked a lander mercenary. She had heard that this corrupted wasteland had been heavily affected by the first apocalypse of the elder tale world. Avalon couldn't help but think that is place resembled what an apocalyptic world could have become in her world. It sent shivers down her spine at that thought. It was not only that but the lander mercenaries had been acting strangely lately and frankly, it made her quite anxious. They had earlier stated that it was too calm and quiet for a usual day in the miasma realm. Ever since that time, the lander mercenaries seemed to be oddly inexpressive and sometimes lashed out when she least expected it. They seemed more distant than usual that she wasn't sure what to do. One of the lander mercenaries she had trained came back from his guard duty shift with his once vibrant azure eyes now a dull blue and a foreboding somber look on his face. The auburn haired mercenary was a man who would normally wave a friendly hello to her but it seemed he didn't even notice she was there at all. What happened? She wanted to figure out what was the source of his odd behavior so she started walking up to him with caution. But before she was able to fully greet the somber mercenary, a lander she wasn't familiar with cut her off before she could say anything. Avalon stood flabbergasted with eyes wide open at the sense of disrespect she felt from the unfamiliar man. She was about to give that man a piece of her mind and let him know that she wasn't going to put up with that. A single phrase stopped her in her tracks. A mercenary disappeared. Her posture stiffened and muscles went rigid at that statement. With gruesome thoughts spinning around in her mind, a sudden rush of dread and coldness hit her hard. She didn't even realize that she had asked if that had really happened out loud. Two sharp gazes turned toward her and it felt a few seconds too long that it soon unnerved her and she could feel the lingering heated tension in the air. A taut and deep tone of voice from the lander bluntly responded to her unintentional question. The man sourly stared at her with eyes narrowed and told her that he was probably dead by now. Suddenly, a smack resounded in the air as the auburn haired lander swiftly punched the deep voiced lander in the stomach that gave off a uncomfortable crunching noise. It attracted the attention of the landers surrounding the area and quickly formed a circle around them. Instead of cheering them on for a fight, they stared muttering quiet comments that she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad sign at the moment. With a rough sounding tone of voice, the lander roared that he was not dead and would come back alive and well. Well, at least he still had some optimism left in him though others were frowning and nodding their heads most likely in still uncertainty. She herself shrugged at that declaration he had made since there was a shred of doubt plaguing her mind at the moment. Why would a lander just disappear from his guard post like that? It was too dangerous to go out alone in the miasma realm unprotected. The only conclusion she came up with was he was either kidnapped or plainly just killed off by a creature. She didn't want to suspect anyone but maybe even one of the mercenaries themselves. After the auburn haired lander calmed his nerves, he walked away quietly possibly embarrassed at his outburst. She had asked a grizzly mercenary to carry the unconscious lander to rest somewhere until he recovered from the sudden injury he received. She was sure a thought that was ringing in their minds was the same as hers--the hope that the guard that had disappeared was still alive. The crowd of mercenaries gradually dissipated as they went back to their assigned duties though some of them lingered and muttered quietly amongst each other. Her eyes darted on some of the landers and they almost all had a similar expression--a frown and a dull look in their eyes. It was disconcerting. Still, she wanted to find out some information that might give her some idea of what may have happened to cause such an unexpected disappearance last night. With some inwardly hesitation, she strolled to a group of imposing landers than towered over her. Like earlier, they stared at her with wary eyes that she felt like an outsider pushing her way into something she shouldn't have entered. She politely inquired if their was some sort of reason why he would disappear so suddenly in the night. A burly man responded plainly that confirmed her thoughts that it was dangerous to go out alone in the miasma realm and this shouldn't have happened at least that's what he thought. With a heavy sigh, she thanked the mercenaries for their time and walked onward to the adventurers' briefing of the day. Avalon was slightly startled by the complaints of the lander mercenaries sharply thrown at the her and the rest of the adventurers in the group. She felt sympathetic toward the Druid since she had conversed with him earlier during their time attempting to relax and calm their nerves the day before. He looked very stressed out and the nerves of this mission was grating on him. She listened to an attempt or what she thought was a joking attempt to lighten to mood but it unfortunately was tasteless. It seemed much too tense to be thought of as funny and the animosity she felt was still lingering. It was true that the supplies were shared amongst the landers and the adventurers but still, they weren't really accomplishing much lately. Maybe it could be wariness between the two factions or a sign of disrespect. She hoped it was the former since disrespect was something she wouldn't put up with. That was why she was doing her utmost best to bond, train, and gain their trust to hopefully earn their respect in order to smoothly cooperate with each other in this mission. The black haired warden made some helpful suggestions of solving some of the landers complaints. One of the landers brought up a good point of suggesting shifts for manning the defensive bunkers. The only thing she thought of at that time was placing her most experienced mercenaries there but didn't think it through properly of shifts of any sort. "I'm with you on that idea," she added with a slight nod of agreement toward Bailin. Three hour shifts day and night with an adventurer included in the shift might make the landers feel a bit more safe and breaks in between would give them enough resting time to relax and unwind after a long day of guarding the outpost. She continued listening to the warden intently and heartily agreed with there being tension radiating from the lander mercenaries and they definitely needed some way to cool themselves down. Avalon was relieved when Shuwen volunteered himself to take some time to teach the landers boxing though she wondered how he was going to plan out his chef duties and boxing. She added, "If you need help in some way like prepping the food or teaching boxing let me know. I'm not great at either though but I'm a fast learner when it matters," as she turned toward the monk. "I could play my tenor saxophone to lighten the mood during their break time to lighten the mood," she chirped up helpfully. The warden continued suggesting that they collect more resources and gather information for clues on the guard and the mysterious kid. "I'll continue asking around for information and we can meet up on what we collected afterwards," she replied as she then ordered her golem to collect more resources. In what she assumed to be morning, Sophia sluggishly crawled out from beneath the covers and out of the bed. She found it difficult to sleep, with being in what is suppose to be hostile territory. Even though not much has actually happened since she and the other adventures got here, it did make her a little anxious. But even so, she kept her positive thinking. Instead of letting herself worry about what dangers might happen later, she decided appreciate these quiet times. Because, as she believes, they might be the only ones they'll have for now. While she stood beside the bed, she opened up her interface and she looked at her inventory and equipment tab, preparing to switch from her colorful pajamas and to her platemail. But then hesitated when a thought came to mind. Today she was suppose to be taking care of the little boy who was brought to the camp. The youth wasn't the most talkative child, though he seemed to be able to point and pick what he needed. She wasn't sure if he couldn't speak or refused to. If he refused to maybe it was a issue of whether or not he trusted them. She wanted to make herself more welcoming to the child. With that in mind, Sophia decided to forego the armor for now and instead wear something more casual. She took her finger on some pieces of equipment from inventory and pulled them to her equipment tab. By doing this she exchanged her pajamas for an olive-green, turtle-necked sweater, a brown ankle length skirt and a pair of soft black low-heeled shoes. Dressed and ready, she left to search the compound for the young lad. But then she was stopped by Bailin who greeted her. "Oh! Hello and good morning to you." she said to the young man, with her lips forming a tender smile at his direction. "It could have been better. I'm probably not used to the surroundings yet. Or maybe it's just the bed" She gave a small chuckle. "Don't worry about it, dear. I'm just happy to help. I'm on my way over to him right now." At some point during their conversation, from Bailin's side she spotted Shuwen and the young boy walking over to them. "Good morning, you two." She said to them cheerily. But however her cheer was replaced with worry when she heard from Shuwen that the boy had attempted to flee outside the compound under everyone's noses. "Oh! Good thing you got to him when you did! I'll be sure to keep a good close eye on him. I promise you" After she had spoken to Shuwen, she took a gander at the boy, before she approached him and knelt down until she was at eye level with him. "You really shouldn't wonder out like that, it dangerous out there for you." She said to him calmly yet firmly. "Come with me, dear. I'll wash you up and get a nice warm meal in you." She gave the boy a gentle smile before she took his hand in her's and led him to the nearest water spout to wash his face and hands.

Lets Play Elder Tales. Hp: 100 Mp:95 ▼ | Standing at the perimeter of the soft bubble of light that wrapped that their current base of operations, the candy floss adventurer stood staring out towards the great and mysterious miasma realms. He was unusually pensive that morning when he awoke and had decided to take a walk, eventually ending up to where he now stood.
He was relieved to see that his 'words' with the landers had been taken to heart, some tried to play him off and others seemed to try to feign some kind of mental strength, but the druid knew that since their 'talk' they had been a lot more productive and attentive to their duties, it was easy to see why, no mortal wanted to intentionally invoke the wrath of an immortal warrior. It seemed to impress Bailin somewhat however who couldn't help but share a comment or two, which the druid had responded with a shrug, letting the warden dictate the lander's duties while making sure each one knew that he was going to be watching them.
However that only made the current situation stranger. The miasma realms weren't exactly the easiest to move through, nor could any one have made significant distant from the outpost without someone seeing something. And yet one of the people of the land had managed to leave the base, either that or he had vanished during the night. It was strangely alarming, the bubble of light should have protected them, not only that but the group had landers on duty at all times, making it very unlikely that the man had acted alone, either someone had helped him leave and was covering his tracks due to means unknown.
Some the druid guessed were searching the compound for any signs of the man's presence or means to the man's highly elusive escape, an answer would eventually come forward, but for now the druid stood watching the horizon. It was strange how the miasma realms seemed to be messing with everyone's minds. The half alv rubbed his temples, feeling a slight head ache coming on. The people of the land were extremely paranoid, the sudden void in the appearance of enemies seemed to scare them into a state of paranoia and misdirected anger. Being on top of one another especially in a place where time seems to stand still was never easy, but it wasn't going to be any easier when you were constantly butting heads with the ones around you, Zyrune should know, he was an expert at it by now.
Several fights had occurred within the last day or so, even two more this morning, one of which he had the unfortunate luck of witnessing. It erupted over something stupid and was resolved just a stupidly. It didn't make things easier as several of the guards seemed to see the missing guard as some kind of coward with others admiring him for taking off under the pressure.
Closing his eyes, the druid couldn't help but let out a frustrated sigh. First that blasted kid had vanished and now a lander who no one really seemed to know very much about had vanished too and now fights were breaking out as if the lack of danger somehow increased the fear of attack, the lack of which was driving their security to relieve their frustration out on each other. The druid muttered in annoyance as he kicked some dirt that stood before him, watching as the dust settled before his eyes.
The dark twilight sky that never seemed to change only seemed pull at him, as if laughing at Zyrune, laughing at how ignorant he was to what was in store for him. The lack of light and a notion of what was day and what was night bothered him to no end. Bringing down the golem commands before him, the druid made sure to send his golem to construct another bunker before taking one more glance at the horizon. It was strange, the lack of light played tricks with his eyes, in the distance at times, he could swear that he could see something moving, what it was, or if it was even something to begin with was let unknown. Releasing a silent puff of air, exasperated, the druid turned and started making his way back towards the outpost.
Reaching the center of the courtyard, he inhaled a slow deep breath as he held his hand out before before. The ground before him erupted in a plethora of deep vines which wove together to formed a cocoon from which a feminine young lady donning a ruffled floral layered dress emerged from moments later. The familiar and friendly face stretched before him, her beautiful white hair was curled and she smiled as gentle as a mother's touch as she swayed before him.
It was time to provide a distraction and Sakura, his cherry blossom Alraune summon was just the distraction that was needed. Surely the frustrated people of the land could appreciate the elegant beauty of the female summon. Letting his mind clear, the druid concentrated, harnessing the energy of his subclass before slowly humming a soft tune enhanced in a way that the idol subclass could only do.
The summon didn't even hesitate as she stretched her arms outwards this way and there in beautiful and soft motions, swaying softly this way and that, twisting and turning, dipping and swirling in magically elegant pattern. The druid couldn't help but smile with pride as he watched her move, providing her with a soft ambient tune. Sakura had become a type of companion for the support, a friend to call on in times of need, someone he didn't have to work to form a friendship with and yet he cared for her just as much as any friends he had spent years wit, she was just special. Perhaps it was how she had reminded the druid of his sister when she was lower leveled or maybe it her soft eyes and gentle smile.
Either way, it seemed to have taken effect with some of the people of the land who gathered around to watch the pink floral summon sway this way and that before them. Perhaps with any luck, the missing guard would turn up of his own accord, maybe even with the kid in tow. For now however, Zyrune was content with providing the landers with a fleeting distraction in the lazy fashion he was becoming known for, while his companions did the heavy lifting.

The missing lander was still gone, with no clues or traces as to where he went or what had befallen upon him. The child that was under their care had disappeared once again. The Land Mercenaries accepted described shifts, but it was clear that they were reluctant. The supposed night went on quietly as always and while normally a calm night would be appreciated, the eerily surroundings had the opposite effect, putting all of the mercenaries on the edge. Zyrune's summon had a minimal effect on the landers who had spent far too much time within this god forsaken land. They had too many insecurities at this point for such a method. As the night passed on, rumors about the missing mercenary continued to spread. Some said he simply ran away, others said he was abducted, and a few even believed he was murdered within the base. However, no one was truly sure what happened to the missing mercenary; he had vanished without a single trace. If he had went AWOL why were there no foot prints leading out of the outpost. If he was abducted, there should at least be some signs of struggle or something that he left behind, and if he was murdered then someone should have noticed the light and sound produced by the death of beings in this reality. However, there was no sign and nothing was certain; this uncertainty was a key trait of the Miasma Realms, but was something that no one could ever get used to and the very idea of such an inconceivable uncertainty was what terrified the landers the most. Before the night was through, two more Lander Mercenaries disappeared, again without a trace, sending the remaining mercenaries deeper into despair. Something thought about trying to run away, others began accusing their former comrades, a few were even taken to the point of suicide. No one was sure about what was happening; the only thing that is certain is that the outpost is falling apart and something must be done soon.

Remember that they can't be in their 24/7 and if you don't have replacements for a shift, then there may not be mercenaries in those bunkers during some shifts or you are forcing some of them to stay in their longer than agreed upon. Also, if they are in the bunkers, they can't also be patrolling the base so you are letting your internal defenses weaken for outer defenses. You should also be worried about the low morale too.

‘There has got to be some kind of way out of here!’ thought Bailin to himself as he rubbed his hands across his face, dislocating his eye patch, making his left eye shuttering fast as the dim light of this fake day, or night for all that mattered, as it saw more light than it had since a long, very long time. However, despite seeing with both eyes for a few moments, Bailin could not shed off the second skin of dread he had slowly accumulated during his short period within the miasma realms. The talk of the day had been the missing child and disappearing guard, it had given him an uneasy rest to say the least, though it felt more as if something dark and menacing was nibbling at his soul, destroying it by pieces ever so small one would normally not even bother to give it a thought. Now however, Bailin could feel it deep inside of him, the dark talons grasping on slivers of his soul, little strands of it, as if fingers were grasping at an unseen mist. As a Warden he should be relatively safe when it came to the effects of miasma poisoning, however the mental strain that this ever present darkness created was gruesome, only to be strengthened by a mysterious child that had a tendency to vanish as well as Landers going missing. As he got up Bailin let out a sigh as he put his eye patch back in place, geared up for the day and walked outside. [break][break] Outside the situation felt even worse than it had the day before. Small groups of Landers stood dispersed around the base, murmuring about more guards having disappeared, several having committed suicide and the kid seemed to be missing as well… though again might be a proper wording. ‘There is too much confusion, I can’t find any relief. Things have to change, the sooner the better. I suppose we could try and raise morale with a feast of sorts, it will cost us more food, however the short respite might be enough to stay off the suicides for a bit as well as raise morale. As the hippies would say: yo man, the vibe is like, baaaad, man, you know… nasty… not cool, man’ Bailin thought, managing to put up a small grin on his face as he pictured a long haired, long bearded male with small purple glasses and slippers. ‘I suppose we could have Steel or Zyrune rough them up a bit, though I would advise against executing them. That might have worked for the Sovjets during that big war, but they had people to spare… we don’t. Though because of that it might actually be a good thing, instil them with fear and hatred for us… which will probably end up with us getting lynched a couple of times because of it… or we should… that might actually work out better.’ Bailin thought, as an evil smirk ran across his face. [break][break] ‘If we were to form squads and embed ourselves with those squads and create a stricter regime of training, resting, eating and guarding, the Landers should start feeling a tad more comfortable, as well as us, and have us all get better acquainted with each other. As a result we should be able to form a more coherent combat unit; it is such a pity this is not like the games I used to play.’ Bailin thought, his mind going from relatively happy to grim and dark, thinking back on the easier times where he had commanded armies with simple clicks of his mouse, the feeling of dread taking hold of him once more. ‘But what if these Landers are already corrupted and that’s the reason they are so sadden and depressed… but I thought the stone was supposed to keep it away from us… but what if that kid has something to do with this? He does seem dead set to venture forth into the miasma realms… what if he is behind all the suicides and desertions? Yet what depraved creature would take the form of a child and commit such acts? It would be far more likely that one of the other Landers is behind it… but whom? Or what if they were actually really depressed and saw no other way out…”Bailin’s mind raced on and on, the doubt slowly spreading more and more. [break][break] Inhaling deeply a couple of times Bailin tried to calm himself. ‘Alright, well now let us see how things fare from here on out. I just hope they don’t lynch me for this.’ He thought as he inhaled one last time: “Everyone gather on me, at the double! I have things to discuss with all of you.” He shouted at the top of his lungs, hoping he would reach all. Now all he could do was to wait and see. Silently he hoped all would come and see what the ruckus was all about. Once they would be gathered, hopefully, he would tell them to form groups of six and one group of five. Each group would have one of the adventurers with them. That would bring the total to four groups, which meant they could rotate guard duty, patrol duty, down time and chow time. The idea would be to have a group on guard duty, followed by some down time, a patrol and chow. As such things would have a set order which should relieve some of the uncertainty of the past days, as well as keep the base at 50% battle readiness and have about 50% of the troops in reserve. It should also keep the fatigue at a low point, which was not a bad thing in these dire situations. It would, however, affect the resource collecting as there were no adventurers available to venture out, not until everyone was accustomed to the new routine Bailin hoped to suggest, though once everything had become routine, the Landers should be able to handle themselves a bit more, they could venture forth with their golems once more and start gathering resources. Though for now it was all a plan as all Bailin could do was to wait for people to show up, hoping that they would take orders from him, a Warden, as the doubt slowly crept up his spine once more, the darkness following it close behind. [break][break] OC: Golem orders: depends on the others (ie. If someone goes out and gather Bailin will send it along, if people come and listen to what he has to say, it will remain within the base) Bailin shouted out across the base to have people gather around him.

» As the sun shined brightly above the strawberry pink haired male, he left out a long slow breath of air. He sat in the middle of vast green meadow, bathed in luscious sunlight hailing from the crystal clear sky that hung above him. Focusing on his breathing, Zyrune took in all the beauty around him, rolling endless green hills seemed to stretch for all eternity and yet it was all an illusion. The brilliant blue sky seemed to blacked and in an instant his eyes shot open revealing the stone room he sat in.
He had been trying to clear his mind and for a moment if he could call it that, he had managed to forget where he was and what he was doing there. But now the hard cold truth stuck looking back at him. The druid had taken to a small empty room to try meditate on the alarming matters that had come to his attention. Despite numerous investigations by both people of the land and his fellow adventurers, the missing lander failed to turn up as well as any clues that might explain his absence. If that wasn't alarming enough, the rumor mill had begun once more as a distraction was needed from the lack of activity around the compound.
Normally the druid didn't have much time of gossip and speculation, but he had to admit, it was rather curious that no one had seen anything regarding the man's disappearance. It was added to by the uncertainty that the Miasma Realms seemed to ooze from it's core. Why had their been no monster attacks, the realm was famous for them and yet they hadn't seen the slightest hint of creature anywhere near them.
The morning didn't bring about any answers as it was brought to his attention that two more people of the land had faded from the compound's present list, again without a trace of their departure and it didn't take a genius to realize the effect it was having on the people of the land. Some had planted the seed of betrayal, others were sure it was suicide due to the realm's eerie atmosphere, some even suggested that there was another way in and out of the compound that these individuals had taken to escape, that itself was the most alarming. Zyrune hadn't explored the area fully, nor did he expect he'd have the time to do so, either way even if he did search, there was no guarantee that he'd have luck in finding such a hidden path even if he tried.
Still it was odd that it was only people of the land that were missing and that was sure to have the rumor mill running overdrive. It wouldn't be long before the people of the land turned on their small group. When people of the land died, they were gone and never to return, that was the deal and that made a lander's death a serious issue. Why were they being targeted and how were they chosen. As far as the druid could ascertain there was nothing in common between the missing people save for their current occupation and residence within the miasma realms and yet it had all started when that child first appeared, who too was still missing.
As he continued his calm breathing techniques, he went over the information once more in his head. There was no monster or unidentified presence detected. The compound was for all intent and purposes secure. They needed more answers. Something was the catalyst for the disappearances and until they knew what that was, there was no hope of an answer. The sudden disappearances and the alarming number and lack of time between them irked him, it suggested that there was more than an individual at work here, even if the child was at work, he needed help.
The repetition of the disappearances is too prevalent to be merely chance, meaning they simply were vanishing at the same time irrespective of each other, no it was connected somehow. Most of the people of the land were pushing forward the belief that the child was the mastermind behind the disappearances, but to Zyrune he was either the first victim or servant to something else. What that was remained unknown, but it's intention is clear, to remove people of the land from the compound.
The obvious choice would be to implement the buddy system, one adventurer for every group of landers. As adventurers were the only ones yet to be targeted and immortal, it stood to reason that they should be spread out. However that too seemed to irk him. The child had been watched carefully by the landers and adventurers and yet he had vanished from sight and they still didn't know for sure if the guards had been alone at the time of their disappearance, so even if they did implement the buddy system, there was no way they would know for certain that the people of the land would remain safe.
It would seem that was the intent of the presence. The druid smirked. "Gotcha." It all seemed to make sense, as if the puzzle was coming together. The miasma realms was known for it's vicious monsters and they had yet to attacked by a single beast. The atmosphere was strangely quiet and everyone had noticed. The real danger it seemed was the compound itself, as if the miasma realm or the presence was trying to tempt them into leaving the compound until the disappearances could be solved. It made sense, if the compound was no longer safe, it made sense to leave and stay outside it due to the lack of danger that seemed to be alarming brought to their attention. Something either wanted them to remain in the compound and be picked off one by one or for them to leave the compound and seek refuge. It made perfect sense. First they had been tempted to leave the compound when the boy was found on the edge of the perimeter and now the disappearances.
What to do was now becoming their main concern. That was when he had heard the warden's call. Standing by himself, he kept his eyes glued to the warden, they hadn't exactly been getting on, but it was clear that he thought the buddy system would work. Pursing his lips, Zyrune kept silent as the warden explained his plan, then once the warden finished, Zyrune would explain his suspicions.
"If I am correct, then no matter what we do we are doomed, we know this from the child who vanished. He was closely watched and guarded. The only course of action I would see is to try something that hasn't been tried." He paused as he let his words hang in the air, the tell tale signs of a smirk showed on his face. "I am spending the night outside the compound tonight and any lander assigned to me will do the same, so be prepared." He kept his expression neutral as he spoke, he turned his face to the landers. "Which would you rather, to fade one by one by means unknown or risk confrontation with whatever lurks just out of reach?" Now he smirked. "This realm is testing you and us, only by adapting and trying something new do we have any hope of a solution."
